My experience with Hidden Tree thus far has not been ideal. At the start of my apartment search I contacted Hidden Tree about the units available, and Alex was gracious enough to send me photos (since I was out of state.) But the following days he was off, & I attempted to contact Denise from leasing. I couldn’t get a reply- and when I did, she hung up on me, and told me she would call back and did not. By the time Alex was back in office, there was only one apartment left; the one without a dishwasher. I’m not completely displeased with my actual unit, although there was false advertising because on the website it states that every apartment has a dishwasher. Apparently mine was one of the ‘few’ that did not- & I was not offered any price adjustment on my lease, which is unfortunate. I brought this up to Alex and he apologized. Signing the lease was also a hassle, because I was not given any tutorial on how to set up payments or make a one-time payment. Also, my auto-payment did not process correctly and for my first month’s payment I received a late fee (which has since been waived). Furthermore, Alex had said that everything in the unit had been checked and was working/ clean prior to move in. But, upon moving in, the faucet to my shower was completely hanging out of the wall and the shower head wasn’t fully working. Since then there has also been a leak under my bathroom sink and the refrigerator currently has no ‘freon,’ so all of my food has been getting wet. There are other general negatives, too- such as only coin operated laundry, no recycling in the entirety of the apartment community, inconsistent snow plow of the parking lot, no fitness center, etc. Also, the inside of my apartment building regularly smells like smoke. Not sure if this is a non-smoking place - but it’s awful. With all that being said, the surrounding area is nice; with the neighborhood and walking paths. It's a relatively quiet apartment building with nice views, and a good amount of space with natural light. I enjoy that it is not filled with students, and feels like a mature environment. But, overall this process has been a hassle and will continue to be, as I have to make more service requests for everything that needs work (even though I have only been living here a month). I usually do not write reviews, as a full-time working individual, but I took time intentionally for this review because I wanted to let others know and hopefully this will get the attention of the leasing office to get their stuff together. I do not plan on moving out, but I wish there would have been compensation for my inconveniences, and I hope that a lot of my concerns can get taken care of ASAP. To finish, there does not seem to be a lot of apartments in East Lansing with overly positive reviews- so I guess it is a matter of 'picking your poison.' & just making the best choice given the information you have and keeping in mind what is most important to you.

The Wife and I have been here 5 years now, our lease was set to expire in August 2023 and we're were planning to move due to how horrible the property management company was and how bad the place was looking. We found out out that Monarch was buying the property and we immediately renewed our lease. We lived at one of their communities in 2014 and they actually take great care of their places. They aren't just a management of this place , I found out they actually own it out right. In less than a week of them taking over the amount of repairs and projects going on is incredible. Landscape being down, roof repairs, parking lots are being down soon looking at the notice we got yesterday too. We just got new washers and dryers in our building as well, no more keeping up w quarters ( YAY !!! ) they use a really nice app now. I wanted to mention the new Maintenance ppl as well, we see these guys constantly running around on a regular basis, friendly and seem to care. The last guys were like Ninjas,we seldom even knew we had any. The new property manager was very pleasant when we renewed the lease, she told us of all the new plans they were planning soon and that made us even more eager to renew. We've had several ppl running this place the past few years, it's great to see one coming in and not just talking about what they are going to do,but actually doing it. They've got their hands full, I heard one of the maintenance guys mention something about " We've got it down to about 140 Work Items now, that the other guys left us with ". I'll give them time to clean up everything and update my review. I hope others who see this that they give things a chance to get better. We're already seeing so much happening and it's about 3 months since the new ppl got here.

*****This is for Morgan Properties, NOT Monarch(the current owners)****** I've lived here a week today and I love it♥️. The property is beautiful and well maintained. The townhome I moved into was beautiful and omg huge. Lol. The office staff is super friendly and helpful and maintenance gets done in a timely matter which says a lot since maintenance is a one man team. I love that my kids can actually play on the playground and not have to worry about trash or other items like the last property we lived in. Did I mention how peaceful it is. I didn't expect to have all the amenities because if you read the site carefully you'll see not all units are equiped with certain items. I highly recommend Hiddentree to anybody needing a place to live. Thank you for giving my family and I a beautiful and peaceful place to live a huge upgrade from my last home.

not only has the rent for this dump increased yearly, but the entire three years my boyfriend and his mother have lived her, there has not been a working washer and dryer despite it being advertised that there was a laundry unit here... also the owners of this building let a leak continue to happen in the basement for a week, letting multiple peoples belongings get ruined due to mold growing in the basement and all over peoples belongings. The mold situation was so bad and so neglected that for a month, you could smell the mold and feel it in your throat the second you stepped foot into the apartments, not even the basement. if you're looking for an apartment, i highly suggest to keep looking because this place specifically treats its tenants very poorly.

It's a work in progress, but they getting a lot of things taken care of! The new maintenance crew has been on top of their job (shout out to Cherrish and Nick for the work they've done on my place and how efficient, respectful, and knowledgeable they are!) I look forward to seeing much more improvements they make that are beneficial to residents.

Moving out early from this place and they have always been easy. Anytime I lock myself out always quick to help even jumped my battery with a dead battery. This place is perfect for me it's by the freeway and a main road but still quiet easy for a nice day in and close to downtown. My favorite part is the new dog parks and playground along with being near walking paths this was a great stay.

I have lived here for over 5 years. I loved it and still at times. I'm disappointed because the rent has gone up every year substantial. I'm also disappointed about the beautiful pool they have. Every year it does NOT open on memorial weekend and it is normally well into July when they finally open it (this truly happens almost every year). Then the property closes it right on time on Memorial Weekend! It is extremely difficult to actually talk with someone from the office, they rarely answer the phone. On a positive note, the property is beautiful, I love the trees and the area!! Hopefully these issues will be solved soon!!

Look. They know what they have, and they are trying to make it a decent place. It’s not the slums, and management is trying to clean up previous management mistakes. Maintenance was very helpful too.

My boyfriend and I moved here in September 2023 and I literally tell him how much I love our home every time we pull into the parking lot!! The neighborhood is beautiful and quiet, which is what initially caught our attention when we were looking. We enjoy taking walks so that was important to us. We worked with Denise in the leasing office to get our applications approved and find a unit that was perfect for us. She was professional and helpful during the move-in process and we have been loving every day in our new home. We feel so lucky that we found this property and our only regret is that we didn't find it sooner. The one item we noted that needed attention when we walked through the unit before we moved in was taken care of the first week!! We also just recently had a maintenance issue and it was handled timely and appropriately, given the nature of the problem. Denise helped things run smoothly. New management took over the property shortly before we moved in, and we have seen lots of updates and improvements being done. And then, there is the location... Hidden Tree Apartments and Townhomes is close to everything you need... restaurants, groceries, shopping, gas and convenience stores, coffee, parks, post office, library, MSU and the freeway, everything you need is just minutes away. We are very happy here and some of the older reviews don't accurately describe the current management. Thank you Hidden Tree (and Denise) for such an amazing experience. We appreciate all of the employees for being friendly and helpful, and making this such a great place to call home. We love living here(: !!!! I almost forgot to mention, the Monarch Resident Portal app makes monthly rent payments and maintenance requests super easy. It takes me about a minute (maybe less) to pay my rent. I wanted to mention the app because it is so easy and convenient to use, and another example of management's focus on improving the resident experience here at Hidden Tree.

Management ignored multiple maintenance tickets for a faulty breaker switch. Currently waiting for emergency maintenance to show up. None of the outlets work, it smells like the apartment is burning and the breaker board is hot to touch. Hopefully someone gets here before the whole place burns down. I did exactly what I was supposed to do here, and maintenance failed to help. These apartments should be gutted, the wiring is a legitimate risk to your life. And good luck getting any help when things start smoking and popping.

From the start of my Application process I was able to connect with Alex who guided me and answered all my questions leading up to submitting my application. Due to some personal matters I was not able to go forward with signing a lease at Hidden Tree and Alex could not have been more supportive, understanding, and overall genuine through out the process from start to finish.

My heat has turned off almost every night. Every time I have placed a request for maintenance, they show up that every same day. Finally they were able to solve the problem! They brought in a squad & were there to working on it together. Since then, I have not lost heat. I also wanted to add that they work fantastic together. The group worked as a team & communicated as a team. Very friendly & kind to me & eachother.

Rent is a little high but with as close as it is to MSU campus that’s to be expected. Everything else has been relatively easy and I don’t have many complaints. The one time I’ve had a maintenance request for my AC it was resolved within 2 days.
