Hidden
in
the
back
streets
of
the
Western
suburbs
,
the
Mad
Monkey
Distillery
is
a
mainly
undiscovered
oasis.
As
my
friend
and
I
drove
in
the
mainly
industrial
back
streets
,
I
was
a
little
worried
that
we
had
lost
our
way
-
even
though
the
signs
were
very
easy
to
follow.
As
we
walked
in
the
spacious
area
,
it
reminded
me
of
my
home
in
Queensland-
it
has
such
an
island
feel
.
And
the
murals
on
the
wall
added
to
the
atmosphere
.
I’m
mainly
a
gin
drinker,
but
it’s
great
to
try
something
new
.
The
staff
were
very
welcoming
and
accommodating,
and
answered
any
questions
that
I
had
with
patience
.
I
ordered
the
rum
flight
,
as
well
as
a
cocktail
so
I
could
try
all
the
spirits
they
had
to
offer
.
The
Saccharum
was
where
they
first
started
out
,
but
apparently
can’t
be
technically
called
a
rum
since
it
needs
to
be
aged
for
two
years
.
It
was
a
lot
less
sweet
than
I
had
imagined
,
and
very
smooth
.
The
Coconut’n’Cane
would
be
wonderful
on
a
hot
summers
day-
it
went
down
very
easily;
it
would
be
easy
to
drink
an
over
abundance
of
this
one
.
But
my
favourite
was
the
Flora
-
maybe
because
it
was
a
rum
take
on
Gin
,
but
also
because
of
its
native
flavours
and
complexity
-
the
taste
of
the
pepper
very
when
drunk
meat
and
wonderful
mouth
feel
of
the
Geraldton
wax
when
the
tonic
was
added
.
My
friend
doesn’t
drink
,
so
she
had
the
non
alcoholic
cocktail,
and
she
said
the
flavours
popped
!
One
of
the
bar
staff
mentioned
that
there
might
be
a
wider
selection
of
food
coming
soon
-
which
would
be
great
and
make
me
linger
for
longer
,
especially
in
the
warmer
weather.
(
Although
the
Hot
Toddy
did
a
great
job
of
warming
me
up
in
the
cooler
weather
)
Certainly
a
great
place
to
relax
and
unwind
-
this
a
great
little
SA
experience.
