The Crown and Anchor, or 'The Cranker', is a great spot to unwind and enjoy some nostalgia. The friendly bar staff are quick to serve up your favorite drinks, with Coopers being a popular choice. The band room is a big hit. Local bands play most nights, creating a fun and lively atmosphere. There are also stand-up comedy shows from time to time. Don't forget to play a game of pool while you're there, it's a part of the whole 'Cranker' experience. In short, The Crown and Anchor is a classic pub where you can enjoy good beer, great music, and meet some interesting locals. It's a must-visit if you're in Adelaide.

It's what a pub should be, beer, music, 8 ball and no pokies. It's a Mecca for all of alternative lifestyles and beliefs 🤘🤘🤘 One of the last true great pubs of Adelaide. 🤘🤘🤘

Lovely old watering hole and music venue. Staff were friendly and drinks reasonably priced, and the live music was great.

Classic Adelaide pub and one of the three essentials to visit alongside the Austral and Exeter (both nearby). A couple of pool tables and one of Adelaide best band rooms for smaller gigs. Alternative crowd.

Classic Aussie pub and an Adelaide cultural institution. Pool tables, live music, chilled staff who'll have a chat, great prices, dunno if I've even tried the food but I'm sure it's classic pub fare. I try to get there for the last Sunday of the month when big Teddy spins vinyl from 11pm to late in the front bar, always some juicy funk, soul, surf rock, always a delight!

Ella behind the bar was just lovely. The other young lady serving left a lot to be desired. She walked past us as we were waiting to be served to stand and chat to someone at the end of the bar. When we raised the issue, she became argumentative. Just lost 10 people drinking at the hotel.

Stopped into the Cranker for a couple of drinks and some games of pool. Classic dive bar and live music venue. I’m sure it’s a vibe on show nights but it was a bit quiet in the afternoon we stopped by. Well cruise passed again when I’m next in Adelaide.

Great spot for a drink and some live music if that's what you're into. The place is definitely showing it's age though and could do with some tlc.

Great pub to catch up with friends and have a drink. Live music gave us some coasters and permanent markers to draw on while listening to great tunes. Excellent staff, chill vibe in the front bar and reasonable drink prices, Went to cranker comedy for up n coming and established comedians, was great for a laugh on a Tuesday night, donation at the door.

The Crown & Anchor Hotel, is a warming, welcoming and winning environment. It's not pretentious, like some of the competing bars in the neighbourhood. A stand out for me, is the lovely barmaid, Brynna. Brynna has an attitude, personality and manner, that is professional, approachable and polite. Brynna is a winner. I'll definitely return to The Crown & Anchor Hotel soon.

Great no frills pub. The frill is there in no frills. Check it out 🍺

It attracts a certain type of punk/metal crowd. If you are that sort of person, you would probably give it 5 stars. They are certainly a very strong supporter of new bands and regularly have 20 bands playing each week.

Great local dive bar with a chill vibe. Discovered a Happy Hour (5-8pm on Sundays) and live Delta Blues music... awesome find!

The security are violent and not properly trained, they assault people to fix problems. The staff are always rude and look like they’d rather die then serve YOU, a paying patron of the venue, a drink. Always ask for ID in the rudest way possible especially the guy with dirty blonde hair and glasses. Not to mention the young people that come on Wednesdays for cheap drinks are all absolute gronks so annoying I’m ashamed to be a similar age to these people

WOW! Great location, very earthy Pub. Tried a new beer Ashanti as they did not have my usual. Not a bad thing as I enjoyed and drank this for the rest of the Night. We had Dinner for 6 upstairs in this wonderful small room full of character. The staff were cool, attentive and friendly. NICE!!!! Last but not least, the food...WOW!! The food was earthy, healthy and Yummy. Thankyou Crown and Anchor🙂🙂

gotta love cranker. service always top notch, music excellent, atmosphere even more so. great toilets too - could stay in them forever reading everything on the walls, and really excellent for privacy and gender neutrality too. there’s no where better for drinks and tunes.

Had an awesome time catching madura green for the first time with an awesome line up of bearclaw club and sunsick daisy! Had a pretty grouchy glassy take my drink away before I was finished. Most staff were overall friendly and fairly hospitable with quick and efficient service Would recommended to anyone wanting a cold beer and local tunes

Crown and anchor is getting a bit tired now, it’s been around a while, but i guess it’s still ok to go to if you like live music, went Sunday evening, no food available, but friendly staff, I’ll still go back to watch my favourite bands 🤙

Hi guys. I understand. Here is why I left two stars: - The show's sound system had problems; - long wait to be served at the bar; - no drinks menu (had to read what was written on the wall); - the drink I had was bad (the remedy thing); - the place looks dirty (maybe on purpose, but not my style); Sorry for being harsh guys. Probably this pub is not for me. If you like I can delete the review.

This is a ridgy didge no frills old Aussie pub..pretty much unchanged over time. If that's your taste you'll love it . If not probably go somewhere else.

Went here on a Friday night, quite busy and great vibes, the bartenders are very nice and friendly and I enjoyed my drinks. Drinks are a reasonable price and as I mentioned before the vibes were really awesome. Great job management. (I know you've made the most of what you could for seating but a few more seats perhaps would be nice.) Thank you! 😊

A great proper pub. Excellent and supportive live music venue, staff are always great, good selection of booze. The only downside is the toilets stink, no need. That aside, it's a great venue.
