Very rude server. I was ordering 4 drinks, and asked about their non alcoholic options. I was told by the bartender that there are a lot of people to be served and they don't have time for this. I am a paying customer too. If you're not going to display a drinks menu, you need to be prepared to tell people on request. The pub itself also smells like urine and dirty rags, and the tables are sticky. Will not be coming back anytime soon. Edit: one star. No need to threaten me, maybe focus on fixing your pub's issues instead?

Went in for a quick meal. Staff were super friendly and helpful. Steak was cooked to perfection. Salad was fresh. Chips were good, apart from being overly salty, with a hint of spice, but that’s fine. I like a bit of seasoning on my chips.

Visiting Adelaide for 24hrs. Dropped in here for a drink. Sat outside on the main street which was nice; wine, people watching and good weather. Bar staff were friendly. There is a pool table and we were there on quiz night. The guy running it pulled us in along with three others. We all formed a table, just strangers having fun it was a good night. Found the hotel had a friendly nice vibe.

Mate who used to live here -well not AT the Austral, only most weekends and Thursday and Friday nights- she used to live and work in Adelaide... She said I have to come here for her sake and my own sake. She's a got chick, funny and sagacious, so here I am. Enjoying the wide range of Coopers in the heart of Adelaide. It's not chockers at the mo even tho its Friday 830pm 24.11.2023 but its good. Staff are good folk.

Veggie options are awesome, the eggplant parmigiana is the best, but the mushroom burger w fries were a bit too spicy for me.

Love the new look of the bar, love the new staff. Had a scary experience with a date and the staff (Elena in particular) were extremely hospitable and made me feel safe.

I was staying at the Pullman hotel. I googled what pubs where close by I found the Austral, we had the barramundi it was nice however it was extremely salty. The music was extremely loud. There is a pool table.

Now, if you want Coopers on tap, give this place a go. We're knocking back an Aged Extra Stout, which I'd give 9/10. It certainly gives the English stouts a run for their money. A great atmosphere as well, means we'll be back tomorrow for Trivia 👍😁🍻

The bar staff are very friendly the fire place was cosy the pinball machine is fab & I love the pool table next time I’m planning on having a meal & hopefully a few cocktails here thank you for the yummy drinks

Great pub, very friendly staff, very professional. I was told this place is like an ‘institution’ and a must visit if in Adelaide city. This place didn’t disappoint, that’s for sure. I hope I’m lucky enough to get a chance to visit again sometime soon.

We had our Christmas party at the Austral last night, the staff were amazing! They delivered on our needs to accommodate our late arrivals because of our working hours. Priska was our host. She is worth her weight in gold, making sure things went to plan and exceeding expectations. Food was lovely and timed perfectly. Thanks for an awesome night x

The place has a nice atmosphere, a real country pub vibe. However, this is not the place you want to go on a winters night for a drink, we walked in for drinks, sat at the table and left because it was too cold inside. The staff were wearing beanies inside and I felt kinda bad for them. Is a good pub on a summers night based on my previous experiences.

Very, very disappointing. Went online to make a diner booking (through the pub website) which went through, received a confirmation. Arrived at the pub to be informed they don't serve meals on a Tuesday. The staff were half-heartedly apologetic! Might have atleast expected a complimentary drink for the inconvenience of the booking system and travel into town. They need to review their processes!

Great place to come for any occasion, staff are super friendly, chicken snitzel was one of the best I’ve ever tasted and affordable. Chips were a little too salty and spicy for me, but overall I really enjoyed my experience at the Austral.

The food is incredible — this is my first time back in 3-4 years and so much has changed for the better.

Ordered a medium rare steak... ... got a well done steak. Do better. Cook your squid properly... it shouldn't be rubbery. Less crumbing on the chicken..more chicken or just less crumbing and actually fry the crumbing properly.

Had not been to the Austral in many years, gotta say though the service was excellent,staff friendly, food was delicious, and the fact that 50+ blokes and support crew lobbed(pre-arranged) after doing a 25km walk for charity for lunch and drinks, everyone was happy, sore, but happy🤣 I'll be coming back!

Had some Coopers beers on tap that I've never seen or even heard of before. Really great pub and friendly service. The pinball machine was the cherry on top!

The best pub in Adelaide in summer time. Its great to sit out the front on a balmy summer night with a gentle breeze. The live music can be a bit hit and miss. It can get really busy for good reason, there are few places like it in Adelaide.

Such a quirky pub. I like the games room. The service bar is special... it looks like an old style betting kiosk. Great venue for a stop on a night out.

Looks like a dingy pub from the outside but its always packed which is a good sign. They have a good selection of beers on tap and the food is really good at quite a reasonable price. Had a piece of grilled barramundi which was better than some more upmarket pubs or even restaurants. Go figure🤔. The $21 burger and pint deal is good value too and they do a pretty awesome burger

this is a nice pub and it has a good variety of things on the menu from something light to a meal than desert aswell the food sounded good aswell .things on menu are at a reasonable price aswell. staff are very friendly their my partner and i went their and saw fiona and biddy comedy show and cabarert aswell .

Had a pretty decent meal at The Austral. Beer selection is reasonable and the atmosphere is that simply of a pub. Practical bar service, pay and go drink your beer, easy.

One of the oldest pub in Adelaide and I do like them. The only minus was louder music in the pub. Couldn't have proper chat with my buddies while we were drinking.
