We enjoyed dinner of fish and chips and the graizers pie. Price wise, the food was fresh delicious, made with care and not loaded with salt. The pie was generous full of beef and tasty pastry full shell. The fish was extra delicious, crumbed, full of fish!! We sat outside and enjoyed the view and beautiful weather.

Had a beef schnitzel for 25 bucks. The ratio of oily dough to meat was pretty schitty. You'd see more beef in a fight between toddlers. Chips were good though. All in all it was a pretty crumby experience.

Food was good, had the Seafood Trio, the fish was a bit oily but otherwise nice.. friendly staff but the views are what makes it..and not a good range of tap beer unless you like the new kind of beer....😵‍💫

Went for the food and drink at the pub. Great location for sunset. Straight across the jetty. Generous amount of servings, but food taste is rather average. For me, only certain foods are good. (I went there a while back, ordered the pizza, it was quite ok.) We ordered: • 250gr Rump Steak $30 • BBQ Pork Ribs 12pcs $44 • Roast Pork $23 (not on the menu. See board near counter for special menu) Out of those, the best was the rump steak as it’s properly done. Although it’s nice, the pork ribs sauce wasn’t to my palate. Roast pork, on the other hand, was the least favourite. The pork was still a bit ‘fishy’ (or should i say ‘porky’? 🤭) Check out their specials for their drinks too. I got the wild turkey bourbon cola on special $14 Note: It could be quite bright during the sundown

Avoid at all costs, especially if you have a food allergy. Went for lunch and had to ask the bar staff if they were even open as I stood listening to the young staff chit chat and play fight to each other for a few minutes before even attempting to serve me. Lunch was diabolical! I sent back the cold gravy and cold chips that were seved, then noticed the food I'm allergic to was on the plate. None of the staff know what's in the food and had to take the packet out of the fridge to check the ingredients.....do this before serving if someone says they have an allergy!!!

This was terrible to say the least today. Chicken ceaser salad. Burnt chicken, no bacon and the most awkward salad to try and cut up with lettuce placed this way. Worst meal I've ever ordered in 10 years of coming here. $28 not happy customer today. Waitress didn't even bother coming to clean the table after we asked her nicely after someone had just left and we went and got cleaner and cloths and did it ourself.

Sign said wait to be seated. So my friends and I waited just over ten minutes, no staff came to seat us so we seated ourselves. After another 10 minutes as we were about to go order drinks from the bar a waiter came over and asked us if we'd reserved the table (there was no reserve sign), we explained no one had seated us so we seated ourselves. He had the nerve to give us attitude while asking us to shift elsewhere (didn't even show us to another table).... the restaurant was next to empty. We just went somewhere else. Disgusting

I recently visited the Esplanade Hotel and was blown away by the beautiful view of the beach and ocean right on the esplanade. The ambiance was perfect for a lazy Sunday morning, and the staff were friendly and welcoming. One thing that really impressed me was the ability to order from my phone via a QR code on the table, which made the whole ordering process seamless and easy. I ordered the big breakfast with a vanilla latte, and while it was relatively good, it wasn't anything spectacular. The coffee was nice and had a lovely flavor that complemented the meal well. However, it was the stunning view and atmosphere that really made the experience special. I would highly recommend this restaurant for its decent food with a 5/5 view and atmosphere. Overall, a great spot for a relaxing breakfast or brunch with friends and family.

Had dinner here, basic pub food. Generous helpings. We ordered the fish & chips meal, batter was light & crunchy, salad was just leaves with a piece of tomato. Pleasant position right on the esplanade overlooking the jetty & ocean.

BEST SERVICE & FOOD! I had YHE BEST experience eating out here than I’ve had in a long time! I dined with my mum & dad in the cafe. I am that someone that likes to create my own meal, with and without all the things and Lana made this so easy for me. I got the beet & pumpkin salad with salt and pepper squid GLUTEN FREE. Lana went well out of her way to help us and did it with such kindness and authenticity. The chefs did a great job, our meals were big and delicious! Big thanks to Emma and the team here 💕💕

Great place for meals with children! I had lunch for my 30th birthday, with 5 children included in our large group. The playground and skill tester kept them entertained for the entire 3+ hours. Meals were great - not one person in our group had a issue! Service was also great!

We have been here twice, both times had a great time. The pizzas are absolutely amazing, not Italian, but my favorite! This evening my wife and I were celebrating our anniversary and the nice girl offered us a cherry tart on the house! So nice of you (don't know your name) it was a beautiful gesture 😊 Great location, great people, great food. 💯 recommended

Stayed here for two nights. Kind of a mixed review but overall not bad. The stairs up to the accommodation are bad for mobility-impaired people or the elderly, and the pub is old - downstairs has been remodelled, but the upstairs rooms are still a little old. Location is great, perfect positioning and the staff were great. We had two meals, I enjoyed both. If you're looking for a great place to base exploration of Adelaide and the surrounds, highly recommended.

WORST NIGHT EVER!! food was average, but the workers and managers were absolutely terrible. we had a waitress watching and spying on us while we eat, drink and talk. while the waitress was reporting back to the manager telling her false accusations. at the end of the night when we were eating my cousin's 21st birthday cake we were asked to LEAVE, which was crazy. My family and I have never been treated this way at a restaurant (SO UNBELIEVABLE). We had been told by another RUDE work member that the manager on watch had gone off crying and that it was my mum's fault. it was indeed not. These managers need to learn their lesson and be welcoming and nice to paying customers. My family and I are never coming back here. I had recorded a video that night of what the manager was telling us and if anything else happens I would release it.

Good food The service was a huge let down .Felt the tension in the place between staff Staff were extremely rude towards each other, towards us & other customers, Others had walked out due to the rudeness of the staff & lack of communication. What a shame, the location is wonderful & we've been coming here for years. Will not be returning

What on Earth has happened to the once-famous roasts at the Espy?! We've been going there for decades, on and off. There used to be two sittings for Sunday lunch and dinner, with the chef carving succulent slices of pork, lamb and/or beef in front of us. Last Sunday (14th Jan), only the lower part of the dining room had patrons, and not even every table was taken. There was no-one at all in the upper area. Four of us ordered the Beef roast. It was SO tough, mostly inedible, although the vegetables were nice. When we'd eaten all we could, a lovely waitress called Rebecca came to collect our plates, and saw that most of the beef hadn't been eaten. She was very apologetic, and then brought us complimentary desserts and coffees, which we appreciated. No wonder hardly anyone was there at what should be a very busy time. If we ever go again, we certainly won't be having the roast

Went for lunch and decided to have the roast pork with roasted vegetables. Pork was tough and fatty, and the vegetables were NOT roasted! Why advertise roast veggies and not deliver on this? Very disappointing meal, wouldn't recommend.

The staff and service were great! Everyone was very kind and patient. The food in the bistro and cafe is also terrific, so you won't have to worry about eating. I'd highly recommend taking a walk down the Esplanade. It doesn't particularly matter which direction, there are a good number of art installations and parks along the way to keep you entertained. If you're distracted enough, you might just make it all the way to Glenelg! Don't forget sunblock though. The rooms themselves leave a lot to be desired though. The curtains barely cover the windows, the air conditioning is noisy, and the bathroom is a very unique colour (mine was pink tile). That said, the bed is one of the best I've experienced in any hotel! As long as you don't plan on hanging around your room, this is a decent place to stay! If you want to spend any more time outside of sleeping in your room, it might be a better idea to look elsewhere.

I asked to have the heaters turned on after paying for a $55 dinner, that the eind simetimes blows it out, there was no wind that day, then got told they'd send someone out to turn it on, no one came out. Food was great, drinks were awesome, staff were slack...

Great pub with outdoor area overlooking the ocean. One complaint, we often stop for a beer and coffee and are surprised the staff dont take dirty plates etc back after delivery of food and drinks. Some dishes etc can be on vacant tables for 1/2 hr or so.

Great location, food was ok , place is a bit tired & seems grubby. Staff not overly enthusiastic - dirty plates sitting on many tables and it wasn’t an overly busy time. Could be amazing with just a few tweaks. The location is what draws you in

This is a great value for money stop for a single traveller. The room was spacious and clean, with a large vintage style bathroom. Accomodation is in the older part of the building but it's very clean. There is room service too. I would stay again.

The food is good and there is a lovely view of the jetty outside. The service is pretty slow. We ordered coffee after our meal, which took a long time to come. When it did, the coffee was spilt all over the saucers so they asked if we would like new ones so we said yes. They walked away and never brought the new saucers (with sugar and spoon) so eventually we had to go and ask them and had cold coffee.

We had a coffee in the front bar today with another couple and the young man with an English accent who served us was particularly nice. He brought my husband a ginger and lemon tea with his drink as he had a sore throat. He was 19 years old and although he told us his name I could not remember it. A great and polite young lad and the hotel should be proud to have him as an employee.

Rooms i stayed in paint missing, shower doesn't drain properly, rude female staff member when asking for breakfast, parking was bad. There should be numbers in the carpark corresponding you're room key number and if any public member parking in that spot should be fined. It was hard getting a park being a hotel guest.

Shower doesn’t drain well, light through curtains and noisy throughout weekend. Blue light illuminated very disturbing deposits on walls, doors, fridge and cupboards. Absence I’ve affordable breakfast menu, PARKING WAS ABSURD, STAYED 3 DAYS, every return NO F’N PARK! No plates, bowls, cups, toaster or cutlery. No bedside cupboards! TX remote power not work, must turn on and off at mounted small tv screen.

The venue itself is lovely, has a nice feel to it and is modern. The staff were very friendly and I saw them taking the time to help many of the elderly customers with their orders, explaining things, taking drinks back out to their tables and despite it being packed they weren't making anyone feel like they were holding the staff up or being a inconvenience. What let it down was the food. We got the Pie and the Steak Sandwich and were both really disappointed in the lack of quality. The pie was undercooked and the pastry had a lot of raw parts to it. The steak in the steak sandwich was paper thin and way over cooked but the fries were super under cooked and not eatable. Maybe it was just a off day, i'm unsure, but it's a significant drive for us to get here and we were only coming to celebrate our anniversary so I wouldn't say that we wont return, it will just be a big gap between visits.

At the restaurant: order a pizza for my husband and me. The service cashier, who toke the order, was rude and seemed extremely bore. The same girl brought the pizza to the table but not plates or cutlery. At my request for plates she brought little saucers. I asked again for dinner plates and cutlery. She showed her disgust for my request. The place was very dirty and the cakes seemed very out day.

Great memories over this place/location during past summers. Still very popular during warm weather/seasons, book in early to secure your tables. Good return visit after a year or two since last stop off, food was good except for the Pizza being overloaded with cheese & we love cheese. Drinks becoming expensive but still in line with other restaurants along the Adelaide metro coast.

  • 3/5 Jim S. 5 months ago on Google
Here's a thought, we're encouraged to order via the app on the tables. The problem is that as we witnessed, when the meal is brought to table there's no cutlery 'cos it's held at the counter where the orders are taken by a person. Just saying

Was my "Local" and we wanted to just order a meal at the bar and was informed that they can't do that and I had to use my phone to order and pay. The manager got involved and her attitude was far from what a "hospitality" manager's should be. Staff at this establishment have lost their friendly attitude. One staff member did advise of another venue and that is our new local as the staff and manager are professional, friendly and are aware of what the hospitality industry is about.

  • 1/5 Wayne & Bec K. 5 months ago on Google
We’ve eaten here plenty of times before but never experienced what we did tonight. The manager with the terrible perm, poor moustache and even worse attitude is doing your business no favours. Singling out staff telling them to hurry up in front of people doesn’t make you a good manager, actually makes you look like a tool. Cleans our plates off our table and is ruder than your worst mother in law, just tops it off. You Mr, need to get a job where you don’t deal with the public !!!

  • 3/5 Nick M. 5 months ago on Google
Epic location, right on the beach at Brighton, you really couldn't ask for more. Service typical ALH under paid staff, menu average, actual food is what you should expect, classic pub grub, if you have to eat here order the staples. Schnitzel, burgers, pizza and avoid the rest. No way near the worst but has lots to do to think I'll be coming back anytime soon.

  • 1/5 Paul M. 3 months ago on Google • 5 reviews New
Fantastic location on the beach front, always pilled high with left over food plates and dirty tables.. why can’t you clean the tables and take in dirty plates staff walk out with plate and return back empty handed.. I have always been of the view staff should always have something in their hand on the return. Overall the venue is in need of some maintenance.and care.

Great place to eat for a family night out. Playground keeps the kids happy and occupied. Enjoyed a beautiful view of the water while eating a delicious meal that was served fresh and tasty. Such a great location and the staff were absolutely lovely, but you get what you pay for. The kitchen extractor fan outside my window (room 6) was LOUD (and I'm a musician!) from about 9am-9pm, the double bed made it impossible to open the bathroom door fully and the shower kept going from freezing to scalding every 10 seconds (I think it was hooked on the same line as the kitchen). Not good for a relaxed and/or restful stay, but fine if you're like me and spend most of your time away from your room enjoying Brighton and the surrounds and just need a place to crash.

After a long day driving from Melbourne, we popped into the Esplanade Hotel for some dinner. The dips came to the table with no plates or extra serviettes price to be able to spread them and eat them so they didn't spill all over the table. How main meals came out and the chips were cold on all our plates, but the seafood and the schnitzel were hot. My salad consisted of lettuce a few pieces of grated carrot and a small slither of red onion. No cucumber. In saying all that, the food was magnificent and we WILL dine in again!

Went to the Espy Brighton Bistro today for lunch. Great window view of the ocean. Wonderful, polite and smiling staff. The menu is very good, but I decided to have the roast ‘special’ of the day, and it was the best roast I have had in years. Good portion size, real gravy, great ‘home style’ roasted veggies. Absolutely delicious!!! My lunch guest had a schnitty with pepper sauce, and loved it. Drink and food prices were good, true value for money. When you go out for a meal, you should remember it for the great food and good service, and that is how I will remember today. Smiling, happy staff, great food, excellent view, makes for a relaxing meal, so Thank you to all staff

It was better than I was expecting for the price, nice location. Had a lovely meal down at the sports bar. The room was small and out dated but I was expecting it that so no complaints. The most important thing for me was the nice clean white sheets and bath towels and a comfy bed. for the price you can’t ask for any more. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay again!

The hotel is brilliantly located - right beside the beach, plenty of local wine bars, coffee houses, restaurants etc. The accommodation was functional and, while not luxurious, it had everything one needed, and a good shower. Rooms were clean and serviced daily (including Christmas Day). The cost was very cheap, so excellent valued for money. Food was good, and well priced. Staff were fantastic - helpful and friendly, even when frantically busy. The parking was fine (at the back of the hotel).

Just wanted very simple 2 coffee and cake. The place was full of inexperienced school leavers who didn’t know how to use the till to make the order but I was patient even after explaining 3 times the young girl got it wrong but I thought that’s okay I will go with that but after waiting 25 minutes and seeing that no one was going near the coffee machine or cake fridge I asked for my money back and told them I was going elsewhere which they seemed happy about because they were all afraid of the coffee machine and they only wanted to carry counter meals from the kitchen to the front bar I can see why people get angry at staff everywhere now because this is typical of inexperienced and untrained staff in hospitality and retail around Australia

I had a nice time staying at this hotel. Its beachside location is excellent. The room was clean and bed very comfy. The waitress that attending to me was the best ever. She went out of her way to make sure the food served was top notch. 5 stars to her. If you're in town and need a place to lodge, do check them out.

This hotel is a prime location on the esplanade at Brighton. Unfortunately, the service and meals are terrible. We visited for a family member's birthday on a Saturday night with a group of 40. There was 1 person behind the bar serving drinks. It took forever to obtain a drink. The food was very basic, schnitzels, chips snd salad for an expensive price tag. The gravy which was served was in the smallest gravy bowl I have ever seen. Some members of the family waited 1 hour for their meals. For the amount of money that we spent as a group we should of been treated like kings & queens. Unfortunately, they are understaffed and under pressure. There are so many better pubs in the area. Very disappointed.

We used the me&u on our table to order our food and wine, thought we would try it out for the first time. Very disappointed that we waited for our bottle of wine so long that I had to go up to the bar and remind them. They had missed my order I then had to carry my own bottle of wine and wine cooler and glasses back to the table myself. Will not bother next time, will just go up to the counter to order. I don't think we get charged a credit card fee either when we order at the counter.

A Prompt friendly welcome by staff, no bookings made by myself for 3 at 1830 on a busy Friday night & was given a table quickly after some readjustments. A very family friendly space for all; small indoor kids playground and many options to choose from in the menu for family and group bookings. Great service with a smile.

Came into the Esplanade Hotel last night. Never been here before as I live north, but I was so happy with the service I received. Thought we would try the espy even after reading the reviews. We couldn't fault it, my table of six were very happy with their meals, I had the porterhouse steak, yes it was a bit pricey but it was worth it, best steak I've had in a long time, 350 grams of yummy, and the wife's prawns were great and a generous serve, I managed to pinch one. The service was good aswell. Don't take any notice of the bad reviews, check it out for yourself, I think you'll be suprised.
