I had my baby delivered at this hospital a few months ago. I have met many sweet, friendly and caring midwives. I would have given the maternity unit a 5-star review if I had never been with one midwife named Catherine. That was the forth day after my surgery. She wanted me to buzz her in for my Lo's blood test, before the baby's next feeding. At the time by the next feeding the baby became quite irritated and crying so hard for milk. Then all I could remember was just feeding her and I forgot to buzz Catherine. A few minutes later she came back to check on me. I said everything was fine I just fed her. Immediately her face dropped and she raised her voice like "I told you to let me know before you feed her!" Her tone was so harsh that it made me numb. Quickly I apologized for forgetting to buzz her in, and was trying to ask if she could do the blood test before the next feeding, but she did not give me the chance because she just turned around and threw me with "I don't have time for this!" She just stormed out, leaving me and my partner in blank dismay. Then after a few minutes she came in to do my baby's blood test. My partner and I were approaching to see if we could help, and she went "Stay where you are! Both of you! I don't need you here! " What I had to experience with her has really hurt my feelings. I was very disappointed because it's unfair (and not professional at all) to treat a patient, who was both physically and mentally vulnerable because of the transition, in such a rude way. It still hurts when I recall. I don't know if it's just me or this kind of disrespect is part of her work ethic to every patient. I hope neither is.

I had a child birth in this hospital this year and just wanted to share few things. Take everything for your newborn with you including nail clipper, socks, mitten, beanie, nappies etc as they don’t have anything except few nappies clothes and wraps. Nurses won’t take neonate to the nursery if the child is unsettled or crying too much. Infact, one of the nurse asked me to change the neonates nappy myself on my second day after cesarean. Food was excellent and portion size is good too 👍 and room was nice as well and they are the reasons for giving 3 stars .

I had minor surgery here for a tumour. The nurse, Anne, was extremely NOT empathetic and made me feel embarrassed to be having surgery. She was rude, told me I was 'milking it' because it was requested i have crutches just incase i needed it (which can be easily returned). The other nurses were wonderful, but Anne was not. I was alone due to covid and she made me feel very uncomfortable and like I shouldn't even be at the hospital.

I had the best birthing experience at burnside,I had just moved interstate and was 33 weeks preggy when I started care with the team. I was worried with no friends in Adelaide then I went for my first visit to my obstetrician (Dr Mandana Master),from the minute I walked through the door I noticed how calm n friendly everyone was and how they make you feel completely comfortable, they personalise your care. They provide the best care I have ever received ( I have 3 kids n unfortunately this is the last one😃)Dr Master made it stress free, the smiles from the ladies by the entrance, the midwives, RNs,chef (the meals are delicious) paediatrician etc.All the staff are so compassionate which makes you recover faster. The offer great service, you even forget that you’re in a hospital.I want to thank Dr Master, she’s incredible

Extremely scary experience birthing at this hospital. I had no control over my labour and I honestly wish I had gone to Ashford or left after the first 5 minutes and gone to a public hospital. It use to be a good hospital with staff that advocated for their patients, but that was not the case this time. Overall it was an extremely poor experience that could have been avoided if not for apathetic staff.

Was so happy with my stay overnight here. All the staff were so warm and welcoming and showed so much attentive care. The rooms were spacious, the ward was the quietest I've ever been to, and the beds! The new beds were great, so easy to move around for the comfiest position. The only criticism I have is that the toast at breakfast was cold. That being said, I'm yet to find a hospital that the toast arrives at least warm!

Friendly staff in the garden area while enjoying their break /lunch. Very relaxing environment. Limited onsite parking is available. Bus stop 6 on Kensington Rd located opposite entrance.

I recently had a great birthing experience at Burnside. All the midwives, doctors and staff were lovely and knowledgeable. Hospital itself was peaceful and calm. Only feedback I have is that the fold out couch my partner slept on was very noisy and uncomfortable and there were times when catering staff would come into the room despite us putting a sleeping sign on our door. But otherwise highly recommend!

Both prior and Post Surgery for TKR, my experience of the Staff, as well as the Surgeon and Physician, The Anaesthetist ,RN’s EN’s, the Domestics, Chef, Kitchen Crew, Receptionists - made the 4 Days there memorable. A Hospital of some 76 Beds, and no shortage of Staff, to run it, Burnside Hospital Would have been outside my Level of Private Health Insurance. As a PH consumer under standard circumstances. Due to Covid & Flu Season, some waiting on the PH List for TKR ( other ), have been given the choice to have Surgery at Burnside, ( other ) Private Hospitals.. Initially my response was Resistive! Wait Times presently is lengthy for surgery at Public Hospitals. For Privacy I omit Names. Chief Orthopaedic Surgeon, An Innovative Forward Thinker, treated all his patients positively . With every aspect explained. With genuineness . Room for Questions. Commitments to follow through patient progress personally, a shared practise of both Surgeon and Physician.. The overall Picture is , patient is treated in a Personal manner. Morale there at Burnside Hospital appeared relaxed and long standing. Staff turnover Low, with most choosing to stay - an impressive Symptom of a healthy Work Culture… Chef & Dieticians collaborate on a Menu for all basic health issues. Robotic Assisted Surgery is currently not utilised in Public Hospital… All this combined Imbued my time and surgery Pre and Post with positivity , reassurances, careful planning. The only part I paid for were the medications upon discharge. A warm thank you to ALL who contributed to my Care and recovery.

I had the best experience here with my first birth. During the entire labor I was never left alone and was constantly reassured and cared for. The midwives are outstanding, knowledgeable and extremely caring. I really felt during my 5 night stay that I made genuine connections that just made my time here even more comfortable. Nice rooms with large enough beds for you and your partner. I learnt so much and left for home feeling confident that I could handle things. Highly recommend. Thank you.

I am so glad we chose Burnside for the recent birth of our little one. The facilities (and meals) are great, and the staff and team of midwives are genuinely caring and very knowledgeable. It felt like family caring for us, and I’d recommend having a baby there to anyone considering it.

Had a double foot surgery, couldn't have been more happy or comfortable with all the staff at Burnside. From the moment I walked in to getting wheeled out they were thoughtful and genuine. I wish I could have remembered everyone's name, but Aiden who looked after me on the night shift was a superstar. His attitude never wavering even in the last hour of his long night. Thank you to all staff, fabulous work.

Recently had surgery and a 2 night stay. Every step of the process was thorough, gentle and caring. All of the staff were kind from recovery to the volunteers who check if you have enough coat hangers! Nursing staff were patient and professional. My room was quiet. Thank you, it makes a difference when you are treated with true care and kindness.

Still dealing with a number of health issues for me and my child since Tracey Bradbury claiming she is a kind and competent ob. She treats you a number and is only there for the $$. My first experience with a specialist, having a baby and needing help badly afterwards, she doesn't care and won't lift a finger once your out the door. The only help the midwives give after going home is "feed her" disgusting people as it caused so many more issues with undiagnosed issues none of them bothered to check on. Go to Ashford! Lovely hospital and lovely staff!

I had a day procedure on the 30/5. The experience was seamless, from admission pre-op, post-op to discharge. My nurse RN Fiona was amazing. Dr Morrison (Anesthetist) and Dr Scharnberg (Gynaecologist) had the best bedside manner which helped relieve my anxiety with their professional attitude an reassurance. Great team work in day stay, reflected in their work ethic!

I highly recommend Burnside hospital for having your baby. The team of midwives at maternity unit was beyond our imagination. Fiona, Gemma, Jenna, Montana, Sophie, Lee, Merrilyn and everyone else we encountered were all so amazing and we can’t thank them enough for the care they provided us when we were very lost with being the first time parents. We wouldn’t hesitate to return for our future family plan.

Hi a big thank you to all the staff at the von Rieben South Ward at the Burnside Memorial Hospital where I just had my Second TKR (Total Knee Replacement), and was good to see Jonathon who look after me 3 years age when I had my first TKR. I could not fault anything with my care during my stay, and the food was excellent!!

If you have to have an operation this is the only place to go. Staff are caring and friendly. Food is wonderful. I'll swear I put on weight during the week I was there. Grounds are pleasant and relaxing and help with the healing process.

Had a minor surgery yesterday. Though the wait was long but I find this hospital extremely cosy and puts me in a very good place. Had to stay overnight, room was very comfortable and homely with a window affixed with plantation shutters looking out to a beautiful tree lined street. Not to mention all nurses I have met were extremely cheerful and pleasant and helpful. They will hear me try to get off the bed at 4am and run in to offer help though I didn't ask for them. Dr. Sexton was wonderful as well, highly recommended by other doctors. So blessed! Thank you! :)
