If I could give more than 5 stars I would. The service and staff were amazing! In my family’s opinion, it was the single best dining experience we have ever had. From when we entered the Restaraunt, the hostess sat us promptly at a very nice table with a beautiful view of the coast. We were then welcomed by the maitre’d, Lyle, who again was outstanding. He came back a couple different times throughout the evening to make sure we were enjoying ourselves. When Isabella, our waitress came out, we knew she was going to be perfect! Every question we had about an item on the menu, she answered and would give helpful insight into other options if we couldn’t come to an exact decision on an item. Whether it was a drink, appetizer or our entree, she helped us pick out the perfect meal. If there is such thing as the “perfect” culinary experience, this was it. Chef Chris and his staff really outdid themselves and we couldn’t have been happier with our experience at Bourbon. We will definitely be back.

I stayed at Monarch Resort with two of my friends that were visiting from New York. We went down to Bourbon Steak for dinner and were told by staff that they were at capacity. However, when we looked on open table, they had multiple tables open and they were not at full capacity. I don’t want to jump to conclusions but the two my friend that were with me were black. The impression that I got was that they simply did not want us there. I’m from the Bay Area. One thing i can say is that Dana Point is not a very diverse place, particularly the population who come to the Monarch Resort. Nevertheless, I would not expect this level of snobbery and shade that was thrown our way. I will never come here again.

The tomahawk is worth it if you love great cuts of steak and are sharing it with another person. If you don’t like small pours of wine, order a bottle and save yourself the trouble. This is not the place to buy wine by the glass or penny pinch over entrees. Go big, indulge, take the recommendations from the service staff and have a true culinary experience. This is place to try something different.

Service and presentation are 5 star! I told them I was bringing my 17 yr old grandson who wants to be a chef! Their head chef came to our table and before we left we were invited to tour the kitchen with the chef! Food was incredible and they treated us like royalty!

Amazing dining experience from start to finish. Amuse Bouche, duck fat fry trio, gulf shrimp appetizer, Thai snapper dish with all the accompaniments. Helen Turley White Coat Rhône blend for the food pairing! Service over the top, extremely professional and knowledgeable!

About a week and a half ago I met with my manager and was informed that I had been promoted!! We had a lot going on last weekend and this, but we finally made it out to a celebration dinner. This place did NOT disappoint. My husband loves his old fashioneds so he started off with a "new school" version of an old fashioned and I got myself a fruity little mocktail that was pineapple juice with strawberries and ginger beer topped with freshly grated nutmeg (I do not like the taste of alcohol). They started us off by serving us a component of the chef tomato bisque with a drizzle of chile oil in the cutest little espresso cup. It was 10 million degrees, but it was creamy and delightful! The sweet/savory was a perfect flavor to start the evening off. They also brought out a trio of French fries. (See posted photo) Left side is furikake fries with a sesame mayo dipping sauce. Probably both of our favorites. The sesame oil in the mayo was so delicious and really shined with the furikake fries pairing! The middle set of fries were Parmesan fries with a truffle cream dipping sauce, which were seasoned amazingly and the truffle flavor levels of the sauce were absolutely perfect! The right set were house fries with a yuzu ketchup dipping sauce. The yuzu ketchup threw us off because it worked. It just worked so well! They had a special off-menu appetizer offering, today. The restaurant has its own private fisherman who caught a 98 pound tuna on Friday and they were serving toro from this fresh catch! We were originally going to go with the "instant bacon" appetizer, but once they told us about this, we were both like, "Yes." It was marinated in a housemade ponzu topped with a generous pile of green onions and freshly shaved black truffles. Phenomenal. Melt in your mouth delicious tenderness. You could really taste the freshness! Following that, we got a bread roll that rocked our world. The roll had salt crystals on the top and brushed with butter, and they were STUFFED with truffle butter. No joke, both of us had butter exploding out of our rolls with each bite! It was messy, but soooo good!!! For our sides we got the truffle mac and cheese (phenomenal) and the roasted fingerling potatoes with bacon and cheddar. We are pretty sure they boiled those potatoes in butter, because the buttery flavor was throughout the potatoes lol! My husband ordered the 6oz Mishima reserve Wagyu filet mignon crusted with blue cheese for his entree and I ordered the 8oz Snake Rivers Farm Eye of Ribeye with a king crab Oscar accompaniment for my entree. Both were amazing, cooked to perfection, seasoned to perfection, and we both preferred our chosen cuts of meat over the other's (as it should be). DESSERT!!!! We ordered the basque cheesecake. Holy sweet mother of all things creamy and delicious... I can't even describe. The sweetness was perfect. Not too sweet. The custard texture was smooth and not too thick. The strawberry sauce was sweet at all the perfect levels. Despite being beyond full, my husband and I demolished this slice together. Hated ourselves afterwards, but enjoyed the ride to self-hate. To end the night, our check was delivered with these dark chocolate covered caramel squares. My husband is not a fan of dark chocolate (I am, though) and even he enjoyed these chocolates!

4.5 stars. Wonderful atmosphere, excellent food, good service. Everything was outstanding, but service tapered off at the end. They stopped paying attention to our table when they got busy. Otherwise it was a great night.

This place is amazing! Great service, delicious food, and wonderful wine list. They were great at modifying things to be gluten free and made sure I had an awesome evening. It may be in a resort, but this is a place to go any time you want a great steak paired with excellent service. Not cheap... but worth it.

Amazing!!!! The food is top shelf and so is the service! This place makes Capital Grille look like McDonalds!!! You have to try the mud pie and Mexican coffee for dessert!!! Unreal!

One of the best steakhouses in Southern California! Such unique dishes and all the food was so flavorful and rich. The customer service with the whole staff was amazing and our waiter Keith was very knowledgeable, had great recommendations, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout our meal. From the drinks, to the appetizers, even the bread, and of course our entrees were presented very well and we were extremely pleased with everything we ordered. Our one friend ordered the Hay Smoked Rib Eye Tasting and the presentation when they brought it out was unlike anything we've seen before, and the steak had so much flavor. And the chocolate truffles at the end of the meal to top everything off was perfect. Also, the ambiance in the restaurant and hotel felt like a true getaway resort. We will definitely be coming back here!

Loved it! Great experience at Bourbon Steak. The service, the food, the atmosphere, everything was fantastic. So many surprises too. For example: The free bread they served was warm and had truffles inside, they gave us free duck fat fried french fries with truffle aioli and a few other sauces while we waited for our steaks, and they gave us chocolate with caramel and freshly made caramel popcorn individually wrapped for free. Each of our steaks were well prepared and the sides were all delicious too. Our server Heath was attentive and provided great service. I'll definitely be back.

Michael Mina does it again. Excellent steak is a given. What sets this place apart is the top notch service, amazing sides and better than most bartender. Come for the steak and enjoy the rest, one of the top restaurants in southern California.

What else can I say except the absolute best dinner I've ever eaten in my life. The service was outstanding. The chef gave some freebies to all the tables including a truffle bisque and duck fat fried French fries. The steaks were PERFECT especially their wagyu and the truffle mac and cheese was to die for. 100/10

Absolutely impeccable. From the appetizers to the lobster pot pie (which was amazing), our experience here was perfect. I am spending the weekend with my mom for her birthday and we couldn’t have picked a better first restaurant to try out. I want to give a special thanks to Heath, he went above and beyond to make us feel special, his service and the support staff service were flawless. This was possibly one of the best restaurants I have ever been to!

Another overpriced venue, there is nothing quaint or romantic about this hotel setting. The service was good, but focused on repeated servings of the smallest wine pours I have seen in 50 years. The food was so-so, but not great which should be expected for the price. We had a terrible view of nothing, consistent with most hotel restaurants. A $500 bill for three people without a bottle of wine.

Superb, every single staff member is nice and friendly, accommodating to our anniversary dinner. We only ordered a little bit cause our stomach can only take so much. Oh my, the banana souffle is really good. It's worth the wait. The beignet was fluffy, and the chocolate dip was cherry on top. Wagyu and dry aged were our favorite with our family.

When dining in at Bourbon Steak Orange County, you are in for a real treat. With breathtaking ocean views of the pacific, the restaurant is located just to the left when entering into the hotel lobby of Waldorf Astoria Monarch - Dana Point. Upon entering the restaurant you are already blown away by the wine selection and friendly restaurant greeters. Our server was Thomas, who was well educated on the menu as well as the specials for the day. We were impressed by the delicious amuse bouche, (3) varieties of duck fat French Fries (with complimentary dipping sauce pairings), from there we had the Cesar Salad, Filet & Order the special Wagu Ribeye, with (3) sauces (including: Béarnaise, Peppercorn, & Chimichurri). The steak melts in your mouth and our taste buds were exploding! The whole culinary experience is off the charts and we couldn’t recommend it more. Must visit while in the area. **For those of us who do not drink alcohol, they have a speciality curated non-alcoholic beverages available upon request **Valet parking available

Great location inside the waldorf astoria monarch Beach (Daaa Point). Not really much of an ocean view unless you're on the outside balcony. Food is delicious- steal tender and off the charts. Miso Cod and scallops were good but not the best. I like my scallops with crisped outside. Cod was in a few pieces and not a filet. Appetizers were great.

I love steak. I seek out Wagyu in any city I visit. The Wagyu filet here was one of the absolute best I have had, anywhere. It was seasoned and cooked to perfection. And it was carry out, to boot. I’d post a photo but I ate it too quickly.

Bourbon Steak is a delightful restaurant. The food is exceptional, the presentation tempting, the wait staff top-notch. I miss some of the extras you used to receive in terms of specialty chef bites that came with Stonehill Tavern. I also miss the special occasion plates you were presented for things like birthdays and anniversaries. It was a small gesture, but one that makes the event just a touch more special. Needless to say, I have been coming to this restaurant every year for my anniversary for the past seven years and have never left disappointed. Expect a hefty bill when you imbibe and depending on your meal choices. Obviously, the caviar is wonderful here, as is the Wagyu beef. I highly recommend the banana tarte.

Over the top delicious ! Elegant space. OTT Menu and excellent service. Small but cool bar where you can get a great cocktail. Also have table side martini service (we opted to bring own wine which was $45 per bottle corkage). Upmarket wine list. Small menu but great options. Our party of four had caviar service - wonderful treat served with icy vodka- wedge salad, oysters with toast bloody Mary sauce and side of asparagus that was super yummy with chilies and crispy shallots. Trio of duck fat fries and truffle brioche buns were complimentary. Mains we all had steak. Super tender, flavorful and cooked to our request. Sautéed mushrooms with sesame seeds were delish. Too full for dessert (even though it was one of our parties BDay and we were welcomed at the table with a Bday card from the team and the staff wanted to give us a sweet treat). We did eat the after dinner chocolate and sea salt truffles which were super creamy. And a thank you gift to all patrons was a bag of bourbon caramel corn - nice touches !! For a special occasion or holiday evening out I would absolutely come again. Evening was executed beautifully.

I love to frequent restaurants that have consistent service and food and this place absolutely does this. The wait staff is always so friendly and attentive. and it's never slow, so that says more about their can do attitude.

Fantastic, pleasant, awesome, smiles, happy. You know that rare feeling of smiles and happiness after a good meal? This place did it. It was pleasant from beginning to end. They addressed all the nuances that seem to plague many fine dining establishments and went beyond with lovely surprises. Heith was our awesome host throughout the night. I will definitely be back. Good food: Truffle Mac n cheese. Rib eye is solid. (normal or dry aged is good, hay smoked was ok too) Duck fat fries with the truffle aioli dipping sauce, disregard the other sauces. Whipped potato puree. Meh food: Brussel sprouts. Instant bacon. Opinion: I typically skip any A5 wagyu offerings in the USA since the American way of preparing it is off. Pop your A5 cheery with a trip to Kobe Japan. P.S. If you go for an early dinner around 5:30pm you can catch the sunset and have the place to yourselves, lovely.

The dishes are consistently tasty, the attitude towards the customers is nice. I frequently visit this restaurant and I not even once was unhappy. I recommend it to all my friends.

You know, we have the waygu tomahawk and that was good, but for me the star is this brioche bun they gave, which is crunchy on outside, and in middle is this oozy butter truffle just coat your mouth with that heaven sauce. It was so good, I asked for another, but hey we at a really nice restaurant, so they gave us two, another one for my wife. So if you like it ask a head of time so they have time to bake it, since ours take a bit longer. But iam happy to have second so it was a very good dinner. Plan I bring my family back for this wonderful experience we had. Cheers

We had a great time at this restaurant. Good food, drinks and service. We always go to their glendale location so when we came to monarch we had to give it a try and it was good. Really good selection of bourbons and wines. Make sure to leave room for their deserts. A must visit while in the resort

This place is not for the light hearted, it's prices are at the top end of OC restaurants. In return however, they deliver far above and beyond their menu and leaves you with an unforgettable experience. Service is impeccable and their attention to detail is impressive. Perfect balablnce between attentive and not too intrusive. The staff genuinely seem proud of the service and food they provide and glad to share their craft with us. All of the dishes we have tried so far were perfection itself. I want to go back just for their truffle risotto. I don't know if their steak is so much better than other high end steakhouses, but it is certainly one of the best. However, the overall experience is far beyond what any other OC steakhouses can offer.

It's a Michael Mina restaurant, what more needs to be said...but I will anyway. The service is top shelf, as expected. This is a dinning experience, so dinner will take time, but worth it. There is nothing not good here, so pick whatever you feel like and you will love it.
