Mt. Balagbag gives of a mini-Mt. Pulag feels with its cold temperature and scenic view. This is a perfect minor climb for beginners who wants a camp experience. The Metro Manila skyline is clearly seen in the camp site. There's also CR and police post near the campsite so no need to worry about your safety. It is also accessibke for trail bikers and 4x4 vehicles. 👍 Guide is required.

It really is a beginner's mountain. Enjoy the tricycle ride on one part uphill. We went there a week ago and you can only see a handful of hikers. On top you can see the great view of Rizal, Quezon City and Manila's skyline. At night you can witness the city lights from them as well. See if you can spot Ortigas and Manila Bay as well :)

Those who are new to hiking may opt to climb this mountain. Not only is it close to Manila but the trail here is so easy one will not get lost. There were actually groups of teenagers without guides climbing with us. Plus, it is not too steep and there is actually a rough road that enables vehicles to climb this preferably motorcycles, mountain bikes, and 4x4 cars. Those who also can't wake up early in the morning should also opt for this mountain since the view here in the afternoon is exquisite. Yes, it may be unbearably hot as one climbs it around 1PM but, along the way, there are sari-sari stores who sell snacks and drinks. Do stop by for a refreshingly cold buko juice that's just PHP 10. Most important in climbing it in the afternoon is that the mountain becomes picturesque. There are spots that look like you're in Africa while some are similar to Batanes's grassy lands that look superb during golden hour. Best of all, as you climb down, there is a chance for you to see both the sun and the moon in appearance. The sun in the left horizon and the moon in the right horizon. That was what we were able to experience here. It was a rare sight! Well, that was according to my friend who has already climbed a lot of mountains. En route to the summit, one will get to pass by a barren spot which allegedly became a shooting location for a Philippine historical film. Other reasons to climb this is that there are picnic tables with a good amount of shade and a camp site where one can put up one's tent. Sleeping overnight here will enable one to star gaze and simultaneously see the city lights from a distance.

It's a great place for team buildings, camping and marathon events. Your endurance will be tested coming to this place. Unfortunately, there are very few trees at the main site.

This is a prime example of delayed gratification. It is so exhausting on the way up, but when you arrive at the top, all of those efforts vanish and all you're left with is awe of the breathtaking view of the NCR and her neighboring provinces. If you want to get here from Manila via commute, ride a bus that will stop at Tungko. You can be dropped at BDO Tungko, then ask for the locals there where is the jeepney terminal for Licao-Licao. From the terminal, it is almost an hour of trip to the jeepney stop at Licao-Licao. Jeepney fare is P35. Arriving at Licao-Licao, you can ride your way to the Brgy. Balagbag Hall where you will register and be assigned a tour guide. Motor fare is P40 for forth route and P35 for the back route. Tour guide designation is mandatory, for you will not be able to climb up the mountain without it. Cost is P350 for a minimum of 1 and a maximum of 7 people. Halfway through the mountain, there is also a checkpoint for the Balagbag Mountain Proper. Cost is P50. It is all woth it. I am now beginning to understand why mountaineers love their craft.
