Crossed today as a foreigner from Colombia to Ecuador. Check mig for Colombia was necessary to leave, arrived their with colectivo taxi around 7:30 and the exit of Colombia was super fast and easy. Need to wait until 8 until the Ecuadorian site opened and there were 7 people in front of me and I need to wait for 30 minutes as you need to fill out the health form of Ecuador again if you didn't print it for signing it. The migración itself was super smooth and the officer was super nice. As a foreigner you need the vaccination certificate, or vaccination passport or a pcr test (15.2.22). Afterwards went again with collectivo Taxi to tulcan.

Easy to cross, they don't ask you for any ID whne you pass next to the officer. You must get your document to the I migration office next to the bridge. From there you can only take a taxi, there are no Buses around. I attach pictures of the way to the bridge (it is around an hour walking from the bus terminal to the border)

The border crossing is open 24 hours again to stamp your visa. Previously it was only open until 5pm due to covid. If you need vehicle paperwork it is only open until 10pm

Must have lots of patience to process your vehicle. Could be better organized. The installation are too small to process a large volume of people.

Its a little disorganized. We need to keep asking questions on what to do next, people are trying to sell all sorts of things, including the ones you don't need and they insist you do. Ex: you don't need the checkmig printed and they assure you do. Its good to do some money exchange on the street.

Hey! I hope somebody can help us: is it possible to cross the boarder from Ecuador to Columbia at the moment?

  • 5/5 Kevin H. 11 months ago on Google
Very easy crossing from Colombia to Ecuador on foot. Taxi from Ipiales was 15,000 pesos. I was not asked for anything other than a passport by either side, and there were no exit nor entry charges to pay and no searches. It only took about 30 minutes to do the whole process. A taxi to Tulcan cost $5 and I was in Tulcan less than 1 hour after I had left my hotel in Ipiales.

Yesterday, we were travelling from Colombia to Ecuador by foot and it took us all in all maximum 30 minutes to go through to process, most of it walking between the buildings. We got there around 10 AM. It was also super easy to get there from Ipiáles and get tu Tulcán. Collectivos in both directions were 3,000 pesos.

Very straight forward, seemed safe in daylight despite mixed opinions / worries about crossing. Stamp out then stamp in. Was there at around 7.30am and had to queue about 15 mins at the Ecuador migration office, no queue leaving Colombia. Taxi to tulcan $1 per person, able to exchange money to dollars for a reasonable rate. Can expect the queues grow more in the day as there were larger queues when we left the migration office.

They'll stop 🛑 you n check you of you look suspicious or you're carrying a lot of stuff. Te revisan si te ves sospechoso y cargas muchas vainas.

Went through from Colombia to Ecuador Monday around 10am. Colombia exit line took about 20 mins. Entering Ecuador took about 10 mins. The customs workers were all fine. My only complaints is with the beggars and impersonators. Man on the bridge dressed in a fake Ecuador customs outfit asking for your passport. Didn’t have any issues with fake taxis tho.

Not scary as I thought it would be. No lines, no hassles, even carrying my dog.

Not well organized and as customary in Latin America the official business can't get the job done while the unofficial "tramitadores" are highly efficient. It sucks and is discouraging!

I crossed from Ecuador to Colombia today. Very easy. I didn't know about a 'checkme' form I needed for Colombia. I nice lady at the Western Union on the Ecuadorian side did it for me (1$). I was there less than an hour.

It is better at the Ecuador side (more clean and, but also as in the Colombian side, the lack of clear information is a problem.

The procedures are pretty straightforward, but the officers at both ends made us wait as they were handling other cases while checking our documents.

Border between Ecuator and Colombia, but it can take long time if you are hurry and you can change COP to USD and USD to COP with very reasonable prices

Our boarder passing was very straight forward and easy! Just be aware that you need a different health form for each leaving Colombia and entering Ecuador!
