4/1/22: Excellent empanadas. They take 10 to 20 minutes to cook after you order, but it's worth the wait. The crust is perfectly crispy and flaky. And they include a fresh made green hot sauce (not from a bottle). Had the plantain and cheese (4.75*), jalapeno and cheese (4.75*), Nutella and banana (4.5*), and the pork chicharron (4.0*, the only one I didn't love, I was expecting some of the crispy chicharron inside, but it's all soft, wouldn't order this one again as they've got so many other great ones). Update: Came back the same day to order more: Corn Flour Shredded Beef and Potato (4.5*), Corn Flour Ground Beef and Cheese (4.5*), Whole Grain Chicken and Cheese (4.5*), Corn Flour Chicken and Potato (4.25*), White Flour Beef (4.25*), Corn Flour Broccoli and Cheese (4*, decent but boring, wouldn't order again), White Flour Spinach and Ricotta (4*, decent but boring, wouldn't order again), Corn Flour Codfish and Potato (3.5*, too fishy, wouldn't order again), White Flour Hawaiana (Ham, Cheese, Pineapple) (3.5*, too sweet, didn't like flavor, wouldn't order again).

Best empanadas I've ever had in life. I've had daydreams of the Hawaiian one for the past two days since I've had it. Spicy green sauce is an awesome compliment for any of the empanadas on the menu. Parking is difficult as the location is on the corner of a busy street.

My favorite empanadas. I don't live in NY anymore and we placed an order of 50 to take to Florida this morning. We specifically ordered all the meat filled empanadas to be in corn. We picked them up and I didn't check so I guess it's my fault they are all in flour dough. I get to Florida and find out the whole order is wrong. I ended up in tears because I was so looking forward to the empanadas en maíz. The rest of the family can have them.

Trek to Queens to checkout Empanadas Cafe. Upon arrival the ordering process is a bit confusing and you have to flag a staffer or ring the bell to get their attention. The establishment doesn’t allow entry and you must order from a window which makes the experience a bit impersonal. You order and wait until your name is called. Once the order is ready and your name is called you can then make payment which I found a bit odd. The empanadas were overall really good. I enjoyed the empanadas de Maíz more than the other. Their outdoor space is not suited for eating and oddly placed tables on an active sidewalk is not ideal. I recommend heading to the park which is relatively close by car or by foot.

So where do I begin empanada café is truly a beautiful gem in the heart of Queens New York the quality and service experience of this restaurant will always be unbeatable to me and I’m so happy that it is a recognizable name along other iconic restaurants in New York City Luz and her team are truly beautiful people who care about the customer and the quality of the food. They receive an amazing and I’m so thankful that they are striving with the service they provide because in my opinion, this restaurant has only gotten better better better always in the years it really has

The variety and quality of empanadas offered were exceptional. Each empanada was a flavorful with a perfect balance of fillings and a golden, flaky crust. Highly recommended for anyone seeking to eat some empanadas. Don’t forget to bring cash because they charge additional fees for credit cards.

Bought $180 worth of empanadas for a party, everyone said they were dry and unable to eat. Wife called store and they had no response and did nothing. Will never order again and will tell friends and family not to go there.

We love this place. We placed our order and Jacky said it would be about 15 minutes. Within 7 minutes they call our name, we take our bag and leave. Now we are on the LIE during rush time and I start looking through the bag. I came across the receipt and it said Online Order. I saw that there were gluten-free empanadas, I turned to my fiance and said this is not our order. I immediately called the Cafe and they knew there was a mix-up. They said that there were 2 people with the same name. We went back and they gave us the correct order. I told Jacky that we ate 2 empanadas and she said don't worry about it. Jacky was very accommodating. Their selection is very different. You must try the Banana and Nutella Empanada. So, so good.

Empanadas here are always fresh and good. It’s unfortunate they get a simple 2 flavor ordered confused. Everything has to be picked up from a window and there is not organization where the line forms or who goes first. Great product, but poor execution skills. Require a little bit more organization. Will return, the empanadas are good and they did offer to fix their mistake.

I’d love to give this place a 5 because the empanadas are good but really horrible service. They really need to get their act together. Ordering party platters from here was really a hassle and in the end not worth it. I called in advance and paid and then called the day before to confirm and then 1/2 hour before I got there and like I said a hassle - definitely not a helping here again just so I don’t have to deal

These empanadas are delicious, highly recommended. If you are in a rush For faster service I recommend ordering ahead. The wait time can be 15mins
