This is an unbelievable one of a kind family owned restaurant!!! The mom is the chef and she make ALL the food fresh every day. The flat bread pita is backed once you order! Very special authentic traditional Iraqi food. I recommended to all my family and friends.

Update 11/19/22: So far I’ve had the Dolma 3 times and sadly I won’t ever be ordering it again. First time, I really enjoyed it. It was nice and tangy and had good flavor. Second time, it was definitely a different recipe, and did not taste as good as the first time but it was edible. This most recent order was again a different recipe, did not have the same flavor as the first two times, was a lot more spicy and had some other spices in it that weren’t in jt before and the dealbreaker for us was that all of our stuffed onions were so burnt that we could not eat them and threw them out. They were burnt through to the middle, not just the outside. The grape leaves were all mushy and just hard to eat, there were no peppers, and they gave us such a small portion for $14.99. This time there was bread which I appreciated, however, the bread was raw around the edges and so we just ended up throwing that out as well. Why are you serving burnt dolma? If you see that it’s burnt, you don’t serve it! If you want returning customers you don’t cheat people out of their money. We ordered Dolma for takeout. And the mint yogurt drink. The dolma is very good and nice and tangy as Iraqi Dolma should be. I don’t like that they placed the dolma on a bed of shredded lettuce. I don’t get that. No one wants to eat soggy lettuce. Would have been better with bread underneath or just plain with nothing. Also it’s a total waste of lettuce because no one eats it. The yogurt drink was also good but unfortunately it was warm. Would have liked it better if it was ice cold. That being said, I’m happy about there being an Iraqi restaurant in the neighborhood and I look forward to going there to try out more delicious Iraqi food.

Al Mazaq is awesome. They get fresh cuts of meats from the butcher next door and bake their own Iraqi bread which is so delicious that they sell it to supermarkets wholesale in Arab Brooklyn. The Ouzi lamb shank is savory and delightful, the bread exquisite, and the service is A+. Visit the only Iraqi restaurant in NYC, that I'm aware of, and you won't be let down.

If you like some serious and really Authentic Iraqi food. You are in the right place and in such a friendly environment. This is not a Middle East cuisine! Cause food have a real Mesopotamian taste. Tho, I highly recommend investors to have a touch in this place. It can get away better and away famous. They deserve it

Like most of Iraqi and Arab shops they claim to open at specific time but they don’t ! I arrived today at 10:20 to see them closed ! I really wanted to try them since I’m coming from 4 hrs away area ! Anyways 4 stars for the Iraqi name

This is an Iraqi restaurant with excellent food, everything we ordered was superbly tasty, I especially recommend the eggplant salad and Iraqi kebab as well as smoked ayran, you can try all this only here, you won’t find such dishes anywhere. Excellent friendly service

Hands down the best Arab food in NJ/NYC. We got there 30mins before closing and all the food was served fresh and the service was phenomenal! Everything from the dolma to the kabob was on point. Definitely coming back to try the breakfast!

Definitely top five breakfast in my life today. I had the Makhlama: 2 scrambled eggs, ground meat, onions and tomato served w/ tandoori bread and pickles. It blew me away honestly. Such delicious delicate flavor, it was insane. The Ouzi is an all time favorite of mine. The lamb falls right off the bone, bursting with flavor. Right on top of this delicious yellow rice with raisins and nuts. Mind blown. Don’t get me started on the lentil soup, mint lemonade, dolma, or the Iraqi kabob! Outrageous! Highly recommend this family owned joint for breakfast lunch or dinner! Blessings!

Fantastic Iraqi food. My first time at an Iragi restaurant. The restaurant is run by Iragi refugees and the service was great. The kebab was the highlight as it was way better than the Indian or Greek/Turkish kebabs I have been eating for years. Very reasonable, must visit.

Even though it was only my husband and I’s second time here, he said this is my new favorite restaurant! The food is so delicious and fresh, we left really full and already wanting to go back! Even simple dishes like stewed tomatoes and eggplant salad were so mouthwatering, I don’t know how they elevate such simple ingredients! No matter what you order, you won’t be disappointed!

Amazing food. I did a take out, ordered Iraqi Kabab with bread and Lentil soup. The kababs were so juicy, soft and absolutely delicious. I haven’t eaten something so good in a long time. The lentil soup was simple but very tasty. The bread that came with the soup looked so fresh and soft. There were some pickled veggies that came with it and they were to die for. I just happened to stumble on this place while I was around there and I will definitely go back for trying the other things on their menu.

The waitress girl was very nice. Dawali is different than Palestinian style, it did not taste good at all sadly. I could only eat one piece. $20 for a small amount as well. Hummus tasted exactly like the can and was not good. $8 for it. The bread was good though. I’m sure their other food is good, but these two items were bad. Nice girl though like I said.

While traveling to NYC we decided to make a stop for dinner and searched for middle eastern food and restaurants in the area. Almazaq came as one of the highest rated places so we decided to check it out. The food was delicious and service was great. The interior was very nice and clean.

Good food! The mixed platter was delicious. Only criticism is they upped their prices and mixed up our order, and then charged us 18% service charge on our takeout order.

So, the food is great. No complaint there. However, for some weird reason bread is very limited. We had a larger party and would only be given 1 piece of baked bread with 1 flat bread (larger) for a party of 5 people. I am giving a 5 star regardless because the food is good and the people are nice. 2 suggestions: The lamb kebab was very dry and hard. Not only on my order but another person as well. I think the cubes were cut too small and over cooked/grilled as there were larger pieces as well. Just a portion oversight! It was not so edible. But it's okay. Please consider the amount of bread that would be reasonable to give for larger parties. Giving the same amount for a party of 2 people the same for a party of 5 just doesn't balance out that great.
