There
are
a
total
of
41,205
Buddhist
temples
in
Thailand
since
the
last
update
by
the
Office
of
National
Buddhism.
Wat
Chaimongkron
is
a
royal
monastery.
There
is
only
one
special
class
temple
in
Thailand
which
is
Wat
Phra
Kaew
in
Bangkok.
The
other
classes
are
Royal
temple
first,
second
and
third
class.
The
other
temples
are
ordinary
but
still
beautiful
temples.
Wat
Chaimongkron
(Wat
Chaimongkhon
or
Wat
Chaimongkot)
isn‘t
a
very
old
temple
though.
The
temple
was
built
in
1937
on
donated
land.
In
1954
the
temple
received
land
owned
by
the
royal
family.
The
temple
expanded
substantially
and
is
housing
more
than
30
buildings
today.
In
January
2013
the
temple
received
the
title
as
a
royal
temple
which
makes
it
only
the
second
one
in
the
province
of
Chonburi.
The
main
Buddhist
relicts
are
the
Chinraj
Buddha
Image
and
the
Chaimongkol
Buddha
image
which
was
found
in
Ayudha
and
is
estimated
to
be
350
years
old.
On
the
temple
grounds
are
often
fairs
and
markets.
The
soon
coming
Loi
Kratong
festival
will
be
celebrated
here
too.
The
Temple
complex
is
located
at
the
end
of
South
Pattaya
Road
and
Second
Road.
A
must
visit
for
culturally
interested
visitors.
