Absolutely loved this place. It's quite cozy and can accommodate roughly 20 diners. The service is fantastic and the food impeccable. The chefs are hands on in entertaining diners. Their takes on Filipino cuisine are well-executed and innovative. Laing dumpling balls? Never imagined but they were unbelievably good. Go for the beverage pairing to appreciate their courses fully. Tasting menu (8 courses) cost 2200 PhP. Additional 800 PhP for the beverage pairing.

Tried Hapag because it was awarded one of Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants in 2021 and was also this year’s Tatler Dining 20 Local Champion. Had high expectations but was really disappointed. I don’t know if we were just unlucky with the current menu but it sure feels overpriced (our total bill came out to 6,490PhP 😳) considering what we were served and how they tasted. A lot of the food were either too salty or too sour. Wouldn’t recommend. You also need to make a 50% non-refundable downpayment to secure your reservation 🤷‍♀️ We went with their weekend Lunch Menu: HOUSE BREAD & SPREAD (I liked this!) • Pan de kalinga • Gamet pandesal • Miso brown butter with Davao dark honey • Local mixed herb pesto • Kesong puti mousse • 2-month aged Calumpit longganis PANIMULA • Octopus warek warek (this was so so) • Pansit 911 (overly salty, the noodles were too firm and dry, and it’s as if it was bathed in dark soy sauce. Not all of the chicharon was crispy, felt old) • Seasonal sorbetes SALU-SALO • Sugpo sa aligue at kalabasa miso (this was okay) • Bistek shortribs (this was pretty good) • Mushroom sisig silog (the mushroom flavor felt overpowering) PANAPOS • Halo-halo (most of what’s inside was too sour for my liking — I wish it had other flavors to balance it out) Oh well, at least it’s another restaurant crossed off my list!

This is an expensive restaurant but 100% worth going. Tried the tasting menu with wine pairing and came out very full and a new appreciation for Filipino food. You can feel the passion and the intention from each dish they serve. Also, their fermented stuff - 10/10!

We were able to enjoy our trip back to the Philippines, thanks to Hapag MNL. The 10 course meal remains true to its Filipino heritage, interpreted with modern gastronomic techniques. Service was superb despite being a big group of 8 people. We really enjoyed the experience. Thank you, Hapag.

Not officially open yet, we were treated to a wonderful evening of food and friendship during their soft opening. We tried almost everything on the menu and I'm not kidding, it was all fantastic. If you're on a budget, then make sure not to miss the Kwek Kwek na Hipon, Apahap mayonesa, and Mangga't Suman. Prepare for a taste adventure at Hapag! Thank you to chefs Thirdy, Kevin V, Kevin N, and the team! Maraming salamat sa inyong lahat!

Really nice affordable Filipino fushion restaurant. It can seat 16in tables and chairs. Then around 6-8 on the counters. If you seat by the counter, you can see the chefs creating your dishes! The place also feels really homey. My favorite dishes are thelaying stones, bananas heart granola and the apahap! Must try and babalik balikan 😉

Food is absolutely wonderful, from preparation to presentation. We especially enjoyed our favorite appetizers, ginataang alimango and oyster bonete to name a few. Now we're looking forward to eating the newly released panguna pares toast and bistek tagalog for our main course. The chefs definitely elevated Filipino food to a delectable and exquisite one. We finished our panapos (dessert) within 5 minutes cause it was just so good! Highly recommended ❤️

Ok Filipino fusion food. Ginataang alimasag appetizer is wonderful, but everything else is not the gastronomic adventure it was supposed to be. The Bistek is particularly disappointing, just some slices of beef in a citrus-sauce, and at 900php for one person, it's not worth it. Try the ice cream dessert, or better yet, just make it at home. Drizzle vanilla ice cream with polvoron and caramel sauce. That should save you 250 bucks.

**Review of Hapag MNL – A Culinary Ode to Filipino Heritage** Our family celebration for my mother's 62nd birthday at Hapag MNL was a journey through the wonders of Filipino cuisine. The restaurant's ambiance immediately set a welcoming tone, and the service was exceptionally warm and attentive, making us feel right at home. The standout dishes were a symphony of flavors and creativity. The Laing Stones were a masterpiece, reinventing the familiar laing as a visual plant, both innovative and deeply rooted in tradition. The Strawberry Taho was a playful twist on the classic, balancing sweetness and texture beautifully. The Uni Arrozcaldo was a revelation, infusing the comforting rice porridge with a rich, sea-infused flavor that was both flavorful and unique. The Champorado and Tuyo was a nostalgic trip in a bite – creative and evocative of childhood mornings. The Salu Salo platter was a celebration on its own. The pork was so tender it melted in the mouth, and the Kare Kare was succulently prepared, showcasing the best of Filipino flavors. The Snackbox was a delightful ensemble where every item stood out, making it hard to choose a favorite. Leaving Hapag MNL, we were filled with joy and satisfaction, having experienced Filipino cuisine that was both innovative and comfortingly familiar. It was the perfect setting for a memorable birthday celebration, and a must-visit for anyone who cherishes the depth and diversity of Filipino culinary artistry.

Hapag is a must-try when in Manila. Make reservations and prepare for a feast. Expect 10+ servings of traditional Filipino dishes reimagined with a modern twist. Ingredients are sourced locally, so you’ll be supporting Filipino providers. The chefs are knowledgeable and skilled. I look forward to visiting again when we return.

Yet another excellent tasting menu choice with great value in Manila, featuring classic homey Filipino dishes from across the various regions, but specializing in fermentations and creative plating. Hapag does a stellar job at recreating the dishes you likely know and love, but with higher quality ingredients than what is often available in the far regions of the islands, although I hesitate to use terms like "elevate". Instead, imagine Filipino staples like Palabok or Kinilaw, but taken to a new level without departing from tradition. This is an especially great place for someone to experience a tasting menu for the first time, or if they are worried about it being too stuffy or pristine; you can laugh and ask questions here. The beverage pairing is an incredible value, especially for a foreigner like me, and we enjoyed all of the pairings. This meal in the USA would easily approach 10,000php per person without drinks, and service is immaculate.

It was an amazing dining experience that you want to have when visiting the Philippines. The food were innovative, creative and delicious. Generous in their portions that won’t leave you hungry. Service was Stellar! My favorite was the Kutsinta. In which, I wasn’t expecting too much about it but left me speechless after eating it. Traditional with complex flavor from the fermented soy. Looking forward to dine in again! Hoping that they will include Mindanao cuisine on their menu. As filipino food is diverse, complexed and absolutely delicious!

Hapag was a first class experience! We had the 10-course menu which was a dream from beginning to end. They tell a story about filipino produce like the vegetables, fruits, culinary techniques by creating incredible dishes that will make you fall in love with the Filipino food culture. Thank you so much for the great experience!

Quite the experience. From the moment we set foot at the restaurant, to the very last bite it was exquisite service and quality all throughout. Having an in-house sommelier was a nice addition to enhance our food-wine experience. Sharing the background for the pairings absolutely made us appreciate what was in front of us even more. You can absolutely tell this restaurant operates at a high efficient level starting from the back in the kitchen, to the front of the house. There’s a system to it, and that was a nice refreshing break from the usual dining out experience.

A big, Manny-style hook in the face to whoever says Filipino food lacks creativity and nuance. The chefs here go beyond the extra mile to innovate on traditional Pinoy classics, all with the freshest ingredients and the utmost care. And they even stop table by table to explain their craft and entertain customers. An amazing culinary journey. One part of me wishes establishments like these could pop all around the world to put Filipino cuisine on the map. Another thinks that a place like this should be kept small and unique, for the discerning punter to selfishly enjoy. However it goes, it's one the best spread of Filipino food my (Filipina) wife I have ever tasted. Kudos to everyone!

This place is simply amazing--my new favorite place in Metro Manila! The chefs here are destined for rock star status, so get in before it becomes impossible. The eight-course tasting menu is a perfect way to experience the amazing culinary talents these guys bring. The Sinuglaw, Oyster Bonete and Lamang Dagat are my personal favorites. I will be back soon!

Hapag Manila is definitely one of the most creative Filipino dining concepts out there. Space is modern but small. Can only sit a few people so make sure to reserve in advance. They offer tasting menus as well as a la carte dishes. We opted to pick from the a la carte menu as there were some dishes there that we wanted to try that weren’t included in the degustacion set. Also, we felt that you don’t really save much by ordering the tasting menu unlike in other restaurants. Presentation was A+ but food won’t blow you away. My favorite was the laing balls but the other dishes were so so for me. Still a great attempt overall. There were other interesting specialties that we didn’t get to try.
