A great adventure that is very achievable. The whole trek was around 4hrs. The path are all stoned and no slippery mud along the way. The challenge was a bit of climbing down spider nets. Can be quite challenging for elderly and people with fear of heights. At the last stop before completing the trek you'll get some quick snacks and refreshment. The chicken spread was very good. Overall highly recommend visiting Masungi.

Wow! Outstanding experience in the Manila area. The place maintenance is very high class. Our tour guide Jolina was perfect! She was very knowledgeable, helpful, smiley, and with a great attitude. The track itself requires to be in basic shape, as there are a lot of stairs to climb. The track has many insightful must-see views, landscapes, and other unique experiences that are worth every minute in the road. We didn’t want it to end. You also have along the way relaxing areas which are very nice. To conclude you’ll get a delicious meal of Tuna sandwich. I believe this is a MUST visit for anyone visiting the Philippines who want a unique experience.

What an amazing experience!!! We went on a Sunday and chose Discovery Trail. The price per head is Php1,800 for weekends (1,500 for weekdays). You have to book a schedule for your adventure and should have a minimum of 5 guests (maximum of 12 guests). Although, you can still schedule even if you are less than 5 but have to pay the minimum amount of Php9,000/7,500 (which is the price of 5 guests). Unfortunately, it was raining so hard when we went and very windy. They did not cancel our schedule because there is no announced typhoon. So even if it was raining "the adventure must continue". They provided as with raincoats, hence, the pink ensemble. The terrain was okay, but very challenging because it was slippery, due to the rain. It is important that you don't carry a lot with you and bring water or snack because it is a 3-4 hour hike. In addition, make sure both of your hands are free because you need it to grab on ropes when climbing, balancing or descending. The view and scenery is breath-taking. It is highly recommended.

Awesome experience!!! The hike is scenic and it was easy. Would love to go back there if camping / night trek would be allowed. Our tour guide, Joy, was awesome. This nature haven should be supported and protected. #SaveMasungi #SupportMasungi

Very nice place and good facilities. Quiet and natural. Neat rocks that look like the ones in Coron. The hiking on Discovery trail is not that difficult. There are certainly tight places that you have to duck through or fit through, but the distance was not difficult. The stairs and the rope sections would be the most difficult for those out of shape or afraid of heights, but 99% of people should be able to do them. The entrance is easy to miss if you are not paying attention. Quite non-descript.

Gorgeous place! A great way to see and appreciate nature. You will never regret coming here. Always be ready with rain gear because they say there's always a chance of rain in the area. Wear comfortable clothes and shoes and be ready to hike for a few hours. The view is worth every minute of your hike.

Great experience at Masungi. Beautiful place and a well created path for trekking around the area. Service was excellent and park ranger was patient with our group as we loved taking pictures. Snacks and refreshments after the trek were also delicious.

I like this place because it was some kind of adventure that we need to experience. Imagine you are in the top of clift without fear of falling. This place is also a symbol of change for mother nature, this place was in the state of deforestation due to illegal logging. Thanks to all the people who rebuilding this area into a wonderful reforestation. I see many trees, many plants, many birds and wild animals in this area enjoying their new home. I hope this place will continue be protected for our own benefits and for future generation.

As i mentioned on my blog: "It was May 2017 when I took the challenge of climbing and exploring the famous – Masungi Georeserve with some of my colleagues. It took us 5 months after the reservation to finally complete the adventure. In order to visit this sanctuary, a group of 8 – 10 people should file a reservation first because most of the time, weekends are fully booked." It is really amazing looking from the top while you are on the web. I've heard that this place has been upgrading since then, and i can't wait to visit again!

You can enjoy the view and hiking at the same time in this place! You have a tour guide that will assist you with your journey. This is a day hike experience only and they have a good spot to take a picture with your friends or selfie :) They said this is a beginner trail but it is not! Because of the height, rocky road, slippery ropes, and when we went here it was raining, this gives us more difficulty to climb but it was fun! Once you completed the trail there will be a healthy snack of wheat bread with egg mayo.

One of the most amazing places I've ever hiked! The grounds are beautiful and well kept, craftfully cultivated. The 'hiking' trail is a mixture of rocks, steps carved, netting setup along sides of the mountain and several suspension type bridges. The normal path is a true adventure and requires intermediate physical exertion. If you can't handle the physical challenges, there are easier paths, but the trip still requires a healthy amount of walking. Hard hats are a must as you'll likely hit your head on a low branch or rocky cave area (or fall off a net). Budget 3-4 hours for the trip. No rest room between the beginning and and of trail, so plan accordingly. They serve snacks at the end of the trail (Saba banana, tuna spread sandwiches and drinks). They only allow 15 groups a day ( minimum group reservation is 7 people at about p12,800). No tipping of individual guides but you can leave a donation at the end that they all share. You can bring your own helmet and gloves.

A thrilling experience with nature. Great for small or big groups (usually min of 5 up to max of 12 persons in a group). It's an adventure to trek the rock formations and climb the rope webs securedly tied to trees and rocks. We availed the Discovery Trail and we were guided by a Park Ranger (Ms. MJ) whose duty is to educate visitors, protect and conserve the Masungi Georeserve. Masungi Georeserve is a sanctuary of flora and fauna. The whole trail took us 4 hours since we enjoyed the scenery and the cool breeze. Please observe silence while on the trail and enjoy the serene surrounding. We had a delicious light snack (Tuna sandwich and boiled "saba" banana) with cucumber calamansi juice. It was a great experience. #SaveMasungi

Had the privilege of visiting Masungi Georeserve for the 9th time (6 times at the Legacy Trail, thrice at side trails and once at Discovery Trail) and every visit is a memorable learning and life-changing experience. All dedicated forest rangers are well versed in the changing landscape and diversity of flora and fauna. The experience differs depending on the weather. I prefer windy, cloudy weather when going up there. The Sierra Madre is more dramatic with rain clouds. Beyond the transformations, the team behind Masungi Georeserve is focused on restoring the lost and abused part of the Upper Marikina Watershed Area. Masungi Georeserve is a platform to make anyone fall in love with nature in a much deeper level. The Masungi Georeserve experience should be in every nature lover's bucket list.

No walk in visitora, prebooking required. We arrived 730 am 30 mins ahead of our time slot (8am) and the group ahead of us arrived exactly on the dot (745 am) but there was one more person than the prebooked slots so they couldnt be let inside. Problem was the guard also wouldnt let us in while the other group couldnt get.in because they had to call the booking office. We were able to enter at 815 am already. The trail is a one way trail. Once you get in there is no turning back. You will have to finish the entire loop in 3 to 4 hrs. Very challenging for sedentary individuals. The forest ranger/guide was very patient and supportive of my autistic son who had trouble following insteuctions. The trail was also very interesting with aome paved steps. The caves and crevices had hanging hammocks and swings in some portions.it was an experience worth remembering. I wish I started trekking and hiking when i was younger

Our guide spoke English well with quite understandable accent. The Adventure Walk was fun, through tight and steep paths, low ceilings, caves, ropes, rope bridges and view points. Beautiful views. Everything well organized and eye-catching.

Masungi Georeserve Dayhike (Legacy Trail) Overall, the experience was fun and fulfilling. All the steps you take in the trail are worth it. Indeed, connecting with nature is always the best. I hope that every person who will visit Masungi will have a safe and fun experience and that they will appreciate and love nature more. Let's respect, preserve and protect our nature thru our own efforts.

A great way to experience nature and learn the importance of conservation. Before doing the discovery trail, prep your arm and leg muscles since they will hurt big time the next day. The rope trails are scary at first, but once you take them on its a piece of cake. Enjoy bonding with friends or family in this georeserve. A tree will be planted on your behalf for you visit.

I cannot speak highly enough of our experience here. Our group of three was amazed by how beautiful the scenery is, and the restoration project is very cool. It was the best roads course I’ve been on by far. Our guide Jackie was well informed, friendly, and clearly passionate about the project. She was great at matching my pace, even though I was incredibly slow due to being sick from some food poisoning. She was so patient! Tip: eat breakfast! You’ll need your energy. The light lunch they served at the end of the trail was good though. As to some comments about going during inclement weather- I would pass on going, even if the reserve says it’s fine. It wasn’t raining when we went, but it was kind of windy, which was a bit nerve racking at times with some of the ropes courses. My group was fine, but they don’t use harnesses, and with all of the sharp limestone rock, I personally wouldn’t risk it. Finally, it was pretty pricey for our group. It would have been less expensive if we had a bigger group to split the price, but I wish we could have combined with another small group I saw heading out when we arrived. I would definitely go back though. I’m not the most environmentally-conscious person, but it was a pleasure to support this reserve.

The place us really nice for those who loves to wander. The place is very much reserved. Trees, flowers and fruits can be found here. They also have one cave in the area. Make sure to have some exercise prior to coming here. You will need to walk for a few hours just to reach the hammocks. However, rest assured that your effort will all be worth it as the view is very nice. Be ready for an unforgettable experience!

🏞️🥾🧗‍♂️ Masungi is a very cool park. It's in the middle between a conservation park and an adventure park. However it's very nice to walk and climb in this amazing nature. Climbs are average/easy. Don't go there if you don't like to climb on some cargo-nets. Rangers are perfect. It takes 3/4 hours easy walking with stops (Legacy Trail). Bring sun screen and water.

Breathtaking!!! I strongly urge others to experience this while you physically can! I am turning 55 this year, and was still able to complete the Discovery Trail. No reason for others not to try it! Very well maintained, well managed. A half day well spent.

Third time here and I’m still in awe of the beauty of Masungi. We were there at 6:00 am and completed the trail by 9:30 am. Our guide was exceptional! The snack served before we ended was good. Do sign the petition to remove quarrying in Masungi and its larger protected area. Also, note that the government wants to convert the area to a correctional facility.

Best place to start hiking for beginners! Easy to go to from the metro and easy hike!

  • 5/5 Ronaldo A. 4 years ago on Google
This place is amazing! Aside from the beautiful nature you will see, you will learn quite a bit from your tour guide; ours was MJ. She is knowledgeable about the place and easy to get along with. The highest peak is 600 meters and we were able to climb it, slowly, without any safety harness! We felt safe the entire trail! Some of us are afraid of heights and have anxiety issues, but everyone made it to the end. Just be warned that this trip is a LEG DAY. You will use your legs the whole time! So be ready. We went in the morning and the sun is behind us in the "Sapot". If you want a clearer picture there, I guess it is better to do it in the afternoon, where sunshine will hit your face. A 500-ml or 1-liter water jug is required. If you forgot to bring one, they sell them in the briefing area for 75 pesos. Water refilling stations are located in the briefing area, the "Duyan" rest area, and at the end of the trail. We replenished ourselves with gelatin desserts, trail mixes, and chocolates. Over all, everybody had a great morning. It was tiring, yes, but fulfilling and refreshing. It really is nice to spend some time with nature. The entire park is managed by a private company and I guess that is a good thing. About three thousand hectares of protected land - amazing! Our tour guide told us that they are building new attractions, but ziplines, they will never put ziplines. I agree!

There was a light rain when my friends and I went to Masungi Georeserve. Nevertheless, we had a great adventure time! The views are really breathtaking! The place is well taken care of. There are no trash bins so you also have to take your trash with you. The bayawak trail is very challenging. If you would not want to pass through the hard trails, there are alternative routes for you. Our guide was also very helpful! We've learned a lot. We were also fortunate to see a Swiftlet!

A vast area of forest reserve about an hour and a half east of Manila. The first trail group gets to set at 530am while the evening trail starts at around 4pm. Visit costs about P1,800 pesos per person. If you go with the "with meal package", it would set you P2,650 per person. The P 1,800 per person package includes a light snack at the penultimate attraction area. The ice cold towel is a total relief and is equally refreshing. Have some safety issues though, like no harness on some steep net ladder rappels, plus, some areas need to have further protection especially on the "Sapot" attraction. I haven't noticed also if the tour guides are bringing in some first aid kit. There are no water stations and comfort rooms along the trail, both are available at the start and the finish. Bring your own jugs for your drinks, a liter of water would not be enough. The Silayan Restaurant serves food from the Reserve area. The food and drinks include the flowers and the leaves from the park. The restaurant does not serve extra orders, and is limited to the set menu to be serve based on the number of reservation. Wishing there is unlimited iced tea in there as well. Bring some hand gloves, the rocks are both sharp and jagged. Excellent workout and at the same time, a fulfillment of our responsibility to mother nature.

This is how ecotourism sites should be! It has strict and well-crafted policies, which can be summed up as respecting the local wildlife, fellow guests, and the integrity of the place. If you have a heart for the environment or just a conscientious person, you will not have any trouble following them and would appreciate what the policies are for. Although there are many rules and reading the fine print can be daunting, we never felt restricted because the guides and the crew there were very friendly, respectful, knowledgeable, attentive, and obviously well-trained. They love their work and it shows. They work as a team so the process was smooth all throughout. They connected with us visitors and it was very natural. We took our time hiking, chilling, and getting to know the landscape, flora, fauna, and each other at the georeserve. The views are breathtaking and 'cinematic'. The trail is estimated to be 3-5 hours but it took us 6 hours to finish because we weren't rushing nor were we rushed. The experience was serene, thrilling, and fun. You'll understand these when you experience them yourself.

(Translated by Google) Devils Georeservoir currently receives visitors by dividing the trail into two trails, the Discovery Trail and the Legacy Trail, which limit the number of hikers to protect the environment. A local professional mountain guide will accompany you and guide you through the course, leaving you with a 30-minute time difference between each course or group, so that the trekking course is not crowded. Due to the small number of tours available, it is a good idea to request a visit about a month before the end of the season when tourists are full. Admission is 1,500 pesos on weekdays and 1,800 pesos on weekends. This one of favorite places to visit. You get to hike into the wilderness and enjoy nature and have a bit of an adventure. The second time we went in the legacy trail which was a trail in progress. You get to contribute to the restoration of the forest by hiking up and planting some trees. You are rewarded by an ice cold towel and a sumptuous lunch at the top of the mountain. Wonderful experience

Upon taking a planned trip to the Philippines, I was alerted of this beautiful recreational hiking spot. Wow! It's modernity and design made this quite enjoyable but.....quite arduous. I did it half way but my family did it for the entire hike; Then a very modern snack area that has. modern bathrooms and delicious juice and banana snacks. WE rested on hammocks while our other family members finished; I suggest lots of water and a good nights sleep . The guides were so nice.

A very nice place to enjoy nature and the adventure that goes with it. The sights and sounds are unique. Make sure your cameras are fully charged as there are a lot of beautiful scenes and activities to capture. There are several climbs that are quite challenging so be sure you are physically capable before making a visit. People who intend to visit should make an online reservation and payment. The entire park is well maintained, tour guides are courteous, friendly and always willing to assist.

We did the Legacy trail yesterday. As with the Discovery trail, every detail was thought of and we couldn't think of anything when filling out the suggestion card during the lunch (it was really good) they provided for us.

Still have a post hike depression (lol) from our hike last weekend. This place is so beautiful! Can't believe that there are some places like this. Definitely, we'll come back soon and we should also try the Legacy Trail. Thank you, Masungi! <3 #reforestnow

A place like this must be protected, for the animals that live here. Even though I was afraid of heights, it was overshadowed by the beauty of the place. The trails are much easier for beginners with no hiking experience. The rangers are also approachable.

Masungi Georeserve is really outstanding. Even prior sa visit namin, i am so pleased with their customer service. They are patient sa pagsagot ng inquiries and they respond immediately. This is my second time visiting but I am still at awe on how well maintained this place is. All their staffs are nice and polite. Looking forward to my next visit.

Such a wonder and awesome getaway if you wanna be away from the city / business district. Be ready though to bring your own water and bit of trail foods like nuts or chocolate for energy as it will be a tiring yet fulfilling experience.

Been open to the public since Dec. 2015. To fully experience Masungi, reservation is made online. This georeserve is a splendid place for trekking /glimbing. Better to go with a big group.

Hope people be contented to what has the nature offered to humanity and stop the fukcin so called "progress" if they only destroy the mountains and our forest. If you go to Rizal taking marilaque up to jariels peak then you know what I mean.

To get there via own transpo, take Marcos hway straight to km.47, where you can see a "netted" gate, Masungi logo is at the gate's entrance. To get there via commute, take jeep/fx going to "Cogeo Gate 2 Labas". Get off "Gate 2 palengke (market)" and ride jeepney marked Sampaloc (Tanay). Pay fare and mention you will alight at Masungi, driver will know where that is. DO NOT alight at Km.45 where Golden Cottages are, that is the old entrance. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Overall, it's fun, adventure, history and mountain climbing in one. Not for the weak-kneed as it involves lots of incline and down climbs. No walk-ins allowed, schedule your group or shared trails via their website.

I do believe that this place is mislabeled. It shouldn't be branded as a Georeserve or Wildlife Sanctuary because there is not much geological information provided and also not that much wildlife in the area. I think also that the slogan suggesting to leave no trail is wildly hypocritical for an organization that changed so much in the landscape (paths, bridges, all the rope courses, constructions, etc.) What this place really is, it's an adventure park. You can do a couple of sporty activities and you can spend 3-4h in nature, out of the city, which is a pretty good thing, but don't expect more than that. If you hope that you will see wildlife and pack a big lens with you (and if you are also 1.7m+), you will hate so much the narrow courses through the small caves and you won't enjoy the activities. The activities are interesting and if you like climbing up and down the ropes, this is a nice place to visit. But safety is a problem. I guess if this park was in a western country it wouldn't be allowed to operate. You cannot do all the rope stunts safely without a harness or something to protect in case of accident. Also, the spider web, despite being in a windy area it has no side handrails or any kind of barrier. It is pure madness that the park still operates as it is now. Also another minus is that the ranger didn't really speak English, which meant that someone from the group had to translate most of the time the instructions.

Kudos to our forest rangers and the management of Masungi Georeserve for consistently protecting the environment. More than the food and the view, I treasure my worthwhile experience during the hike at the Legacy Trail.

A marvel to visit!! The staffs and the rangers are all very friendly and would share every knowledge they know about the forest and nature in general. Once at the peak, you can savor all the time you have to stare and appreciate Sierra Madre. That and cold air are more than enough of a rest while catching your breath to trek the next location.

The name of the place derived from the word “masungki” which means spiked. And this is a adequate description of the limestone mountains you will find there. The place is just fantastic. Green. Tranquil. Offering unique opportunity to reconnect with the nature. For the hiking experience you may choose between Discovery or Legacy Trail (we did the first one). For both it is recommended to wear good, comfortable shoes. The price of the participation in the guided trip cost 1500 PHP per person on weekdays and 1800 PHP on weekends. The minimum number of persons to form a group is 7.

Great experience! We did the Legacy trail which was a 5-6 hour hike. The experience was a mix of hiking and relaxing (they gave us an hour to rest by the hanging houses). We also had a short tree planting / nurturing activity. The hike itself was a bit long- with some parts having an actual path and some seemed a bit more off trail. Food was included served in banana leaves. Overall a nice experience with a group of friends! Better to go early to avoid extreme heat.

This place is a local model for conservation in the Upper Marikina River Basin Protected Landscape and is definitely worth a visit for the great views and greenery. We took the 7:30AM schedule for the Discovery Trail and found the entire hike relatively easy with alternative routes for those who wished to avoid the rope course areas which I personally didn’t enjoy. I’d still probably come back though only to try the Legacy Trail the next time around. What I didn’t realize was how there was barely any primary forest here at least through the trails we passed by. But I guess the area is still recovering from decades of deforestation and degradation so the existing forest is actually already an improvement from before the georeserve was established. I hope they consider creating wildlife-related tours focused on say birdwatching or the areas indigenous flora and fauna.

An amazing place people often pass by yet forgot to take a deeper look inside a hidden sanctuary tucked along a highway. A must see place that you must support and visit hoping it will last as long as it can with awareness for us all about the beauty of mother nature we should always appreciate. Better pack light and get ready for a scenic yet adrenaline experience for all ages.from hiking with some biodiversity tour or you can just avail of the scenic family picnic pack if heights isn't your thing. Make a reservation and it's best with minimum of eight or more to avail of guided tour with a ranger around. From the entrance and parking station to the main park is a 10 min walk. Safety is always thier number one priority and it's always kept well maintained all it takes is that people are aware there are such wonderful places we have to appreciate before they are lost. Pls support petition and protection of this wonderful reserve instead of being turned to a different facility that is best used elsewhere.

The cave was the best part! Best nature hike I've experienced in the Philippines so far. Worth it, even in the heat. Our guide and all of the staff were friendly and knowledgeable. Make sure to bring insulated bottles with ice and refill at the free water station before your tour begins. The Discovery Trail was easy enough for the beginners in my group, so it should be fine for anyone, at any level.

On February 25th, my friends and I embarked on an unforgettable journey to Masungi Georeserve. Our adventure along the Discovery Trail became extraordinary, thanks to our wonderful guide, Ate Jocelyn. Her wealth of knowledge about Masungi added a special touch to our adventure. It wasn't just a hike; it was a delightful blend of fun and information that left us amazed. Witnessing the dedication of the staff to preserving the beauty of Masungi's flora and fauna was truly heartwarming. By fostering a sense of responsibility and connection to this incredible ecosystem, we can collectively ensure Masungi's longevity for future generations.
