The menu was extensive and the portions were huge! My husband and I shared the fried seafood platter and still took half home. The service was great too.

1st time here! We came around 7 pm on a Thursday and it was busy. We had a party of 8 and got quoted a time of 15-20 minutes well… it was more like 50 minutes. Our server was good. Our food was good. Definitely worth the wait. They brought out the kids food first, which was great since they were all hungry.

We travel all over the county and have to say first and foremost this is a gem. At first glance this place looks a bit dive bar but do not be fooled. The food went beyond expectations and had us ordering more things to try because the execution was at such a high level. It was seat yourself and we were greeted within a few minutes and menus provided. Our server introduced himself and was eager to help us find what to order. Chris was very helpful and a delight. We ordered cocktails which came out and you could tell were made with quality ingredients. We started with a cup of gumbo which was full of flavor and sausage. We ordered a country fried steak with fries and Mac n cheese with roast beef debris (so worth the add on). I asked to have both gravys to try which I’m so glad I did. Roast beef gravy was not overly salty and rich. The white country gravy was thick and peppery. The Mac was perfectly cheesy and creamy. Also ordered a big mo jamma sandwich which had turkey ham and roast beef. You could tell how fresh and daily made everything was. Not a corner cut in this place. After being so amazed we had to try the chili too. A good kick without an abundance of chili powder for the prefect balance. Order the bread pudding and peach cobbler to go. Homemade and delicious ending back at the hotel. Before we left, Chris, one of the owners stopped to thank us for coming in. We have to say our experience is one of the absolute best we have ever had. We will find ourselves coming out of the way to visit here again I promise. Try it out and order everything you can. They absolutely deserve to be high on anyone’s list.

Southside Cafe is a well known and busy restaurant so you may experience wait times for seating during busy hours. The Food is heavy well seasoned Louisiana style. I ordered fried mushrooms and the Irish channel (seafood gumbo one side and chicken andouille on the opposite side with potato salad down the middle. It is crowded but service is fast and decent. The lighting is comfortable. Attire is casual or whatever you’re feeling. It’s legend and worth the visit. Would recommend if you’re in the area.

Starting with the food: French Onion dip soup - they brought this in the cutest ceramic bowl. This soup was cooked perfectly, with the bubbly cheese melting down the sides of this cute little bowl. Cherry on top was that it was one of the best French onion soups either of us have ever had! It actually has onions in it! Combo seafood platter - fried shrimp, fried oysters, fried catfish, and sweet potato fries. (The onion soup was my husbands 2nd side) All seafood plump, seasoned, and fried to perfection. My husband says it's the best seafood basket he's ever had. Now, this is saying something because we are from Biloxi, and we know how this is supposed to taste! The sweet potato fries were perfect. We noticed that the platter was layered with toast on the bottom, fries next, then the seafood. Do you know what that means? It means you can eat your seafood and your fries aren't cold when you get to them! And that toast is also a great insulator. Very nice! Brisket hamburger steak with mashed potatoes, gravy, and steamed veggies - I'm going up start with the veggies. Y'all, this is the first time I have ordered veggies from a restaurant and did NOT have to add salt! It shocked me! The veggies tasted like the ones I make at home! The meat was cooked perfectly to my request of medium and just melts in your mouth. This is the beefest beef I've ever tasted. That's the way it's supposed to taste! The gravy was thick and not over salted. Country fried steak with French fries and Mac & cheese - The country fried steak was cooked and seasoned beautifully. My son said it was the best white gravy he's ever had. The fries were crispy on the outside and soft in the middle. They were not full of grease. Y'all he said they tasted better than checkers fries. IYKYK. When he took a bite out of his macaroni, it reminded me of the way grandma used to make it. Yet again, the presentation was on point! The cheese was melting down the sides of his bowl. When he lifted up his fork, the cheese actually strung out. Maybe this isn't a big deal to most, but it's a big deal to me. That was real cheese right there. On to the service and particulars: The portions were huge and the price was very low for the quality of the food and service we received. We noticed the fine attention to details that this restaurant provides and their prices don't match those said finer attentions to details. Yea Southside, I seen the bright sprinkles of parsley on our dishes! Some of us notice that small detail and appreciate the extra effort. Especially with how busy y'all are. Almost every table was full the entire time we were there! We did not feel ignored. Not once. The service we received was 5-star. Even though we live in Biloxi, we will be back. I want to touch base on some of the negative reviews on here that I read. Yes, they are busy. A good place to eat should be. Yes, it is loud, a good place to eat should be. None of our food was cold. We did not wait over an hour for our food. If we would have had to, it would have been worth it to us. We've waited longer at other places that don't hold a candle to this place. Oh, and I did not witness any one-legged bullies. Not saying one doesn't exist, or what that person said didn't happen, but everyone there seemed to be really nice and genuinely wanted you to have a pleasant experience. P.S. as a business owner, the fact that an acknowledgement happens on every review given here means they actually do care. I did not see one response that got ugly. All I see is taking ownership when mistakes happen (they happen to everyone) and a sincere and thought out response to every review. That's AMAZING! Thank you! I'm so glad we stopped by here. ❤️

Really good food. Beer was really cold. There was like a 40 minute wait, but that's because they were completely packed, with a lot of people waiting. Was well worth the wait though. Our server, Karly, was amazing as well. Definitely recommend. And get some gumbo.

Love the look and ambience, couple of our masks were real good, could we ok. I would try again. Service was decent. I'll give them another go before long and try some other food and see if service improves. One time could have been just an off night.

Wife and I were coming back from Nashville and wanted some Cajun food. Wife ordered the crawfish balls and a chicken & sausage gumbo cup. I ordered the Big Mo Jamma. When they ask if you want it loaded, say yes. Mouthwatering sandwich with delectable meats and fresh veggies. The gravy was a nice touch! Our server was attentive and didn't skip a beat.

Stop in! We had 5 happy people and 3 were teens! All of our food was great and our server was amazing too. Glad we drove out of NOLA to find a muffaletta.

Best Poor Boy hands down! I had the Big MO Jamma which has Turkey, Ham and Roast Beef with melted Cheese and brown gravy on it. It was insanely good! My wife had the Rueben which she said was great! Prices are great for the quality that you get. This is a must eat eat place for sure. They are also huge into supporting the military.

It was my first time coming here and I wasn’t disappointed. The wide variety of dishes will give everyone something different and unique to choose from. I had the southern fried steak while my wife had the black and blue poboy. The atmosphere is nice and ideal for sitting down and visiting with friends. There are TVs around the place offering different sports to observe. The staff is kind and attentive. Next time we are in Louisiana this will be on our list to return too.

If I could do 6 stars, I would. My first time, we looked it up online and do not regret it. I had hall shrimp half later po-boy, my sister had shrimp, my cousin dip French, my niece club( too salty) and mi nephew the kid's burger. We also ordered chicken and andouille sausage gumbo and bread pudding. So delicious extremely satisfied. It was $106 for all of us. Not bad

It was pretty busy when we got there. They said the wait would be around 15 minutes, and we were seated within 10. The waiter was very helpful and generous. The food was exceptional. Everything we tried was good. It was the best place we went to on our vacation.

Superb food and a military discount, thank you! Service was good as we received the meal, but two of us ran outta drink and didn't see the waiter again until after the meal. He had a large group of 20 at the other table, but I still need my drinks refilled during the meal.

The service is very friendly, and acts as though you business is appreciated! Shouldn't all businesses act this way? The food was served hot and well within an average time others do. The quality was very good. Fresh and colorful. I was very happy I chose to eat here. Im confident that you will too.

This place is awesome. I was recommended by a gal at Cajun Encounters Swamp Tours in Slidell and it exceeded all expectations. The seafood gumbo was absolutely delicious. I had the soft-shell crab while my wife had the turkey burger. Both were tasty. It was my first soft-shell crab and it did not disappoint. 👍👍

New to the area and a coworker recommended trying Southside. Ordered buffalo shrimp and a bowl of chicken & sausage gumbo--both dishes tasted excellent. Was greeted and seated by staff promptly. Great place to take the family or go alone and watch some baseball games on one of the many TVs in the dining area. Portions were generous.

All around great experience. Locals were sweet, food was great, service was quick even with a full house. Will definitely come back!! I got the angus burger with debris and mashed potatoes. Would definitely get it again. Shrimp and grits is next on to try here! Saw several people with it and it looked to die for.
