On our way back home from a daycation, we decided to stop for breakfast in Slidell. We were very intrigued and inquisitive about La Pines Cafe. We had seen and heard of it being on Diners Drive-Ins and Dives. So glad we did. As we walked up to the cafe, we saw a crowd of people waiting outside the cafe. For a Sunday right in the peak of the breakfast rush, we anticipated waiting for a little bit. (That was fine) But... We didn't! We were quickly seated and was asked our drink orders and handed some menus. As we looked through all the amazing choices, we decided to get... Me: The Chicken Fried Platter Breakfast with 2 over easy eggs, home fries, and a biscuit. She: The Garden Omelet(Pepper Jack Cheese, Onions, Artichokes, Tomatoes, Spinach, Mushrooms) with some toast. The food was amazing and so were our servers, especially Wendy. We will definitely return to La Pines Cafe! Thanks, The Giaccones

This is my first time dining at LA Pines Cafe in Slidell, LA and I have heard over and over that the food is good and that locals enjoy dining here. I assumed because they are open from 6am to 2pm that breakfast would be served the whole time but it is not. Breakfast ends at 11am on weekdays, unsure about the weekend though. Upon entering the restaurant we waited between the door and the cash register to be seated. I would assume regulats know this and immediately find a place to sit. We were greeted after a minute and were told to pick a table. We walked through the main area and found another room with tables and we sat back there. This place is casual. It is cozy, close quarters, so expect to easily hear conversations from other tables, etc. You can tell this restaurant has quite the following of regulars that dine here. There were 2 small menus at the tables to look at at first until our server brought us the main menus. Our table was clean. We chose the cheese omelet and the skillet for breakfast. Both were delicious. If you would like butter, you need to request it and also creamer for coffee. They are not at the table already. The skillet had hash browns with sautéed onions and green peppers topped with sausage gravy then cheddar cheese and 2 eggs to order. The sausage gravy made it creamy. I have never eaten a skillet like this before and it was very good and filled me up. The atmosphere is casual and the food is truly just like they call it, comfort food. The prices are phenomenal. The carpet is dingy and it takes away from the bright white and gray walls and this was my only negative with the atmosphere. What makes this place stand out are the great prices, the comfort food, and the feeling that I am dining at a relative's house. My eyes just kept getting pulled away from the walls and looking at the carpet and let's face it, carpeting in restaurants is not easy to keep clean, I totally understand. The carpet won't keep me from dining here again but I could not stop noticing the carpet and how it isn't cohesive with the rest of the room. Not sure what Guy Fieri ate here, guess I better look up that episode.

Busy place but we got in and out pretty quick. The food was good but the steak was just okay.

This was exciting. Had never been to Slidell township and to find a Diners Drive-in and Dive was fantastic. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Key: would I go back, absolutely.

I ordered that Chicken Fried Chicken, and my wife had the Poor Man's Benedict. Both meals were served piping hit. The chicken was lightly breaded very tender. The poached eggs were large and not over cooked. The service was excellent and efficient. Some times when you go to a Triple D restaurant there is more hype than substance. This place is not the case. No over priced food and souvenir stand at the check out. Well worth the stop.

The food is very good, especially the special breakfast on weekends. The avocado in the California Benedict is undercooked and hard. The crayfish in the shrimp omelette is a local specialty. I was pleasantly surprised. The service will be slow before 8 am. If you are in a hurry Suitable

Lawrdt! The waitress was amazing, the food was blah, blah, blah. If you’re not a cook and not use to real good cooking, you’ll be excited. The flies were chilling like they’re not a nuisance. The whole building needs a deep cleaning. The carpet needs to be pulled completely up and replaced with tile. I usually check the rest rooms to see the shape that they’re in before eating anywhere. I didn’t this time. However, it was packed & people seemed to be enjoying themselves. That’s all that matters.

This place is dope. Featured on Food Network's Diners, Drive-ins, And Dives, this place does not disappoint. It has a very family atmosphere. The place served lots of variety of food. The food is really good like a parent made it.

As your 600th review in November 2020, this is what I have to say. The food is a 10 out of 10 The service is a 10 out of 10 However, the overall experience is a 5 out of 10 Since there was 2 avaiIable tables left, I sat on a table by the dirty map that you guys have. The Air Conditioner blow very cold air at the table. Also, the table is very small for 5 people. When my food arrived, it was getting cold fast. My coffee was also getting cold fast. It is arguably the worst spot in your restaurant, but since the food and service is good, I am giving a fair and honest 3 stars. It would be 5 if the spot wasn't so horrible. Any customer sitting there would not have a pleasant experience. My advice would be to get 4 or 5 employees to sit at the exact same spot (table by the dirty map close to the front door) before you open and see how uncomfortable it is then you can conduct some changes until your employees agree that they feel comfortable and so would the customers. I would come here again and maybe test you guys on the seating arrangement for a chance to update my review for 5 stars. I believe in you guys would do a great job!

GREAT breakfast food. It’s a definite local joint that delivers amazing breakfasts! I asked for my egg to be cooked a very particular way and they not only nailed it but it was better than I anticipated! If you haven’t tried this place, make it a plan to go soon!! You won’t be disappointed!

I ordered the Fried Fish Plate. It was delicious! Fried just right, not greasy. Seasoned, but not too spicy! Perfect! I got 3 very nice size pieces of fish, cole slaw, fries, and hush puppies for about $10. There was enough left over for dinner that night!

Really great local place for breakfast. I had a pancake with pecans inside and blueberry compote on top and my husband had the Philly cheesesteak omelette and a side of spicy sausage. Everything was delicious!

The food was delicious and the staff was super friendly! Would have been five stars, but the menu price and description for the Poor Man's Benedict does not indicate that there is a $2 additional charge to get 'your choice' of meat. Very misleading.

We enjoyed the breakfast alot. I was looking at reviews of good breakfast spots and saw the pics of this food and decided to try it out. We got seated immediately which was great. As we waited, I soon realized that this restaurant was featured on triple D. Umm, yay! We ordered and received our food happily. We loved rhetoric and cleared our plates. I got the French toast, corned beef hash and eggs. My kids got pancakes, hashbrowns and eggs and ham. Ham was delicious and pancakes were generously a decent size. Try it out but know that it is a small 'hole in the wall' feel for sure. They are welcoming and good though.

The food was good. The atmosphere was very friendly. The restaurant was not a 5 star type of place so don’t go there looking for it. The waitress, the other guest…made me really feel like I was back home in Louisiana type of feel. I’d definitely recommend this place.

Great food, great service, great prices! The wait staff was amazingly friendly and fast. They came by several times to fill our coffees and make sure everything is good. The food was quite good. The pancakes were light and fluffy and were giant. The bacon was cooked to perfection as well. The mexican burrito had great salsa with it and an amazing taste. The coffee is average but cheap compared to most places so can't complain there. The amount of food you get for the price is astounding. For $6.49 I got 1 egg, 4 strips of bacon, and 3 giant pancakes. The pancakes alone could feed two people. The Mexican burrito was $6.99 and coffee $1.89 so in all we paid $21 after tip for two giant meals.

Food is excellent!!! I had the shrimp omelette with crawfish cream sauce and could not take a break until it was all gone. The other breakfasts that my wife and her daughter had were equally delicious. Best part, it didn't break the bank!!! I highly recommend La Pines Cafe?!!

Everything is great every time we go there. The amount of food and the taste are always worth the money! The service is second to none.

Excellent service!! Wish I remembered her name. Food was good. The place is fairly small and seems to carry a crowd. My only complaint is that my chicken on my Poor Man Eggs Benedict was a little hard and overcooked. Didn’t care for the Cajun eggs Benedict. The omelet was very tasty.

The food was really good. Even though it was busy the service was attentive. The food came out in a reasonable amount of time. It was hot and tasty. Best biscuits I have had in a long time. Building is a bit dated to say the least.

A hearty country breakfast awaits at LAPines. A staple in Slidell, I remember it when I was in High school, but never ate there. My sister took me to breakfast and it was wonderful. The coffee was hot and our server kept it full. The food was delicious and not a long wait for as busy as they were.

The breakfast was good. Had the corned beef hash eggs over med white toast. Very small town family local diner. Waitresses are very customer service oriented.
