Shark Bay

Tourist attraction

😐 This is a great attraction especially if you are into wildlife and aquatic life. It is a long and bumpy ride to get to the area allocated for shark viewing. It is not a main stream activity so there is no cafe/bar/restaurant on site just local entrepreneurs selling their wares. You have to walk over... People often mention sharks, guide, water,

This is a great attraction especially if you are into wildlife and aquatic life. It is a long and bumpy ride to get to the area allocated for shark viewing. It is not a main stream activity so there is no cafe/bar/restaurant on site just local entrepreneurs selling their wares. You have to walk over the rough stoney ground to get out far enough to see the sharks in the water so it is not a fully accessible activity. But once out far enough the baby sharks are a great marvel. They are numerous and you have an almost certainty of seeing them. It is exhilarating yet fascinating that these creatures could bite you but don't and also that they grow into the large adults you may be more afraid of in the deeper waters. Seeing them in their own habitat is great rather than in pens for tourists amusements. Although making it easier to walk through the water to get deep enough to see the sharks could be made easier with little effort or disruption to the natural environment. Even a wooden jetty would work.

Ever wanted to step foot in shark infested waters, here's your chance, the little shark nursery petting zoo, (natural habit) No cages here! The baby lemon sharks which inhabit these waters where friendly enough (didn't get bitten) we spent around 20 minutes in knee deep water with a guide that made himself available to us (with a bottle of blood & fish guts to attract the species) for the price of 5 euros for 2 ppl, would of been 8 euros had we not brought our own sea shoes (required) (sharp slippy rocks) amazing experience 10/10 would recommend. Wouldn't recommend venturing much deeper as mum & dad are keeping a watchful eye over thier babies, was told they can grow around 2.5 meters, saw a dried fully grown lemon shark jaw in a local shop, would not want to get nibbled on by one of those!

Renting sea-shoes or bringing your own is a must as the entry point is quite rocky and filled with dead coral. Coral wounds are the worst as they do not heal very well. The guide usually just Carrie’s some bait fish and throws it around the group to attract sharks. The baby lemon sharks themselves seem used to this activity. All in all 4 euros for the shoes and a tip of 3-4 euros for the guide. Please don’t touch the sharks! Just watch and enjoy. No need to disturb them!

Juvenile sharks swim in the shallow water just off the beach for safety from larger predators and high numbers of tour buses descend, some significantly less responsible than others. You can easily make it there on your own with your own vehicle (by going across a dirt track) and you don't need a guide. No entrance fee. €3 to rent water shoes. The wind and waves whip this coast but children are usually fine joining to look at the sharks. The water is about adult thigh deep with waves a bit higher.

Short walk on the reef with guide. They ask around 10 euros for guide and reef shoes. A nice way to view young Lemon sharks under your feed

First Time seeing and being inside the Water with Baby sharks which is harmless but of course or else you touch them which makes the scared and Attack. The Water was warm and Nice (Clean). You need a Water shoe to get in(Crocs) or you can lend one up there and of course there is an Entry Fee.

My visit to Shark Bay was okay. Rather than booking a tour, I opted for a taxi driver, which saved money. At the local and for just 3€, I got special water shoes and a guide to accompany me into the rocky waters. The guide had a bottle of raw fish and attracted small, young sharks with little risk. However, the experience was brief, lasting only a few minutes. If you're on a budget and want a quick shark encounter, it's worth considering.

Great place to see the Lemon Sharks up close. We booked through Tui which was €26 each. Wish I had booked it with one of the local companies. As good as it was, it was not good value going in a group of 6. The first 5 meters from the beach are a difficult walk, but gets easier beyond this point. Sharks get so close to you.
