Amazing! One of the best places I’ve been in Porto. Besides having great food, I was treated to an amazing team that cared for all my requests and went above and beyond to make us happy! I really couldn’t recommend this place enough. Great food. Great atmosphere. Amazing service! Important: the cues are often big, don’t hesitate if you are invited to sit at the bar! We were treated amazingly well by the staff and even got some treats by the bar staff.

Very good, traditional sandwich. It’s a must try in Porto. The pork meat is very well marinated and has a soft texture, close to the pulled pork. The french fries are good as well and a single serving is enough for 2 persons. The place is clean and the staff is nice. Strongly recommend.

Stopped in for a semi late lunch on a Monday at around 2 pm. Maybe that's the normal lunch hour around here because there were a good amount of people still dining/coming in around that time. I randomly found this spot because I saw it on Google Maps and it was right by the hotel we were staying at. It had great reviews so we decided to come check it out. We sat at the rooftop, which is kind of enclosed but luckily it wasn't too cold anyway. It had a nice chill vibe. For drinks, I had the green wine. I wasn't really sure what that was but decided to try it. It's kind of like a white wine, which I don't even normally like. But this green wine was very good. It was light, crisp, and refreshing. Hubby had come kind of spicy chili cocktail, which was interesting because it had a kick to it. He enjoyed it. Their most popular sandwich seems to be the pernil with sheep's head cheese and I can see why. The 4 stars here are really just for this sandwich and the drinks. The pork is tender and the cheese is perfectly melty. It's also the perfect sized sandwich if you're not that hungry and don't want something massive, but want more than just a little snack. You definitely need to eat this fresh while you're there though. We got one to go on a separate day to bring back to the hotel and the meat was a little dried out, and the bread was soggy. The cheese was still good though. Hubby had the Guedes Francesinha (house bread, roasted pork, egg, mortadella, chorizo, fresh sausage, ham, gouda cheese, and special sauce). This was our first time trying a francesinha. Looking at photos online, we already knew it would be too heavy, and it was. I also don't like my sandwiches covered in sauce because I hate soggy bread. But still, we wanted to try one since we were just visiting Portugal. This came with a pretty big plate of fries. We almost ordered a side of aioli to go with the fries but our waiter suggested against it because the francesinha already comes with a bunch of sauce and it would be too heavy. Glad we listened to him. The fries were kind of soggy, matching the theme of the heavy sandwich. Overall, I would say stick to the simple dishes (like the roasted pork and sheep's cheese) and maybe a few tapas and drinks and you'll have a great experience.

We went here with high expectations, having read reviews and seeing videos of others visiting this restaurant. Unfortunately for us, the reality was not quite the same. We ordered the pork sandwich with sheep cheese. It was alright, but nothing special. It also wasn't very hot when we got it. We also ordered fries with the sandwich, and decided to try the bacalhau with sheep cheese. We had to ask about the bacalhau a second time, as it didn't come out with the rest of the food. When we did get it after 15/20 minutes of waiting, it wasn't even cooked through- in fact, it was still near-frozen in the center. On top of this, it was 2.50€ for a SINGLE, golf ball sized portion. After letting the waiter know, we waited another 15 minutes for a new one, and it was just "meh". Not worth waiting 30 minutes for..that's for sure. For the portion size and price (5.90€) of the sandwich, we thought it wasn't worth it at all. Just do yourself a favor and go to Conga for a bifana. A better pork sandwich at literally half the price.

Came here to try one of the famous sandwiches. Ended up getting more than one sandwich. A lot more than one. I'm both embarrassed and proud to admit! In fact, I lost count. I do remember walking out of there in a haze of happiness and warm comfort. Had an absolute blast sitting by the counter, watching the master carver do his thing, and from time to time grace us with a sample of the finest cut. Honestly, it felt like a dream. Loved here so much! MUST TRY!

I was advised to get the pork and cheese sandwich by a Portuguese friend. The sandwich was really good. The location is also great, the terrace especially. Unfortunately the service was very veeeery slow and the prices are a bit too high, the menu is a bit touristic maybe.

I never write reviews, but... I've been in Portugal for a month and this is by far my favourite place to eat. This is my second time at this location, but I also ate at their other locations (rooftop location has a really nice view to people watch). Try the number 8 or the number 14. Honestly, anything on the menu is good. You won't be disappointed. Melt in your mouth meat and cheese (Noms). Also, the price point is really good. If you go to this OG location. You pay at the front counter and they will give you a receipt with your order number. A server will call out your order number (in Portuguese) then serve it to you at the table you've selected. Other locations have full dine in service. **If you're by yourself, I recommend ordering 1/2 size portion of fries cuz the fries portion is large.

Nice lunch, busy place. Outdoor and inside tables we choose to sit inside. Our server was very good and polite, there was a man in suite probably the manager he was also very nice very welcoming greeting customers. Our lunch was good, i especially liked the pork sandwich with prosciutto but next time I will order the pork sandwich with cheese instead of prosciutto. Pleased check our pictures. Everything we ordered was excellent. Hope to return.

Another must from Porto, here you have to have the pork sandwich with cheese (a special Portuguese cheese) I it sooooo good.. can I have 2 now? If you are visiting Porto go to the old Guedes that the authentic experience.. that homemade hot sauce is also very good.

Fantastic Francesinha, one of the best I ate. Sauce slightly spicy, a full meal with lots of different meat, with cheese and an egg on the top. Totally recommend!

Note that only this location of Casa Guedes has the francesinha. The other is just a cafe that serves the sandwiches. It comes off as a little touristy with the music and the vibe but the food is still great. Definitely get the francesinha and you'll have a very heartwarming meal. What I really enjoyed the most was the pork and sheep cheese sandwich. That was my favorite part of the meal and wish I ordered more of that.

I did not like the blood soup personally, though we had heard it was delicious. My friend really liked the sandwich #14; the port addition with caramelized onions added a nice flavor to it that was not too sweet. The gizzards was a very big dish fyi, not just a few or even several!

@casaguedes = Best sandwich of my life! This place is truly a sandwich heaven. If you like bread, cheese and roasted pork then this is the place for you. During my time at Porto, this probably the place I visited most. I have never been a huge sandwich guy but the #14 here will change your life. This restaurant has been here for 50 years and will stay for another 50! #14 Chef Guedes sandwich is the best sandwich I have ever had. Roasted pork, Onion in red wine reduction, brie cheese and argula make the most delicious combination ever. #12: It is a watered down version of 14 but really good as well and without the cheese. If you like something simple, I recommend the #8. Simple meat and cheese. We also tried the tapas that keep on bringing. Really liked the pastry stuffed with minced pork and the Bacalao fritters.

Came here as part of a food tour so that’s already a good start! This pork sandwich was a bit spicy but very good. The cheese with pumpkin jam was also very nice. There are tables and chairs outside so it’s a fun spot for people watching a good food.

Casa Guedes is very delicious, traditional, non-pretentious, and cozy. It has very good prices. The caldo verde is a must, as it is amazingly delicious. There are two ambiances, the restaurant and the terrace. The terrace is really nice to have some drinks, and the food is amazing. The personnel is super kind. 20/10

Went here for a late lunch after our flight for a city trip. You order inside. The menu is on the wall. Ordered the porc sandwich with cheese. It is a very nice sandwich, warm with a lot of taste because of the cheese. We sat outside of on the terrace next to the parc. As drinks we took a glass of white house wine. Be aware of the pigeons on the terrace. They are really the rats of the sky. Recommend this.

Renowned for the Roasted Pork Leg with Sheep Cheese Sandwich, I must say it did not disappoint. The pork and goat cheese combination melted in your mouth! Fast preparation, quick and attentive service. The preparation person was very nice.

We've came in a raining night, so there was no line luckily. the sands was amazing, very unique tasting and worth a visit. I would've ordered a second if I wasn't so guilty during our trip.

The bifanas in Casa Guedes are definitely next-level. Try out the one with cheese and arugula. I was also surprised with how well they make bolinhos de bacalhau. And their caldo verde was simple and stuck to its rustic roots. The place was clean and service was timely, plus the cost was quite reasonable considering the quality of food they serve.

My family and I had a great experience at Casa Guedes Tradicional. We were pleasantly surprised by the affordable prices, and the staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. They always had a smile on their face and were happy to recommend their menu's delicious options. Overall, we were impressed with the service and would definitely recommend Casa Guedes Tradicional to anyone looking for a tasty meal in Porto.

Worth the hype. The pork sandwich was absolutely delicious. Service was warm, friendly and efficient. It was also super welcoming to babies. A must visit for a quick bite.

With a family that like very different food this was the perfect choice. Pizza, ribeye steak and seafood pasta there really was something for everyone. We have found most places in Porto are friendly and helpful and this restaurant was no exception. We really enjoyed our meal here and will definitely return next time we are in Porto.

Love the place and the atmosphere! We're surrounded by only local Portugese families actually, though thought that this place is just for tourists. The staff is quick and very professional. Food is of a good quality, for Portuguese traditional one.

Really enjoyed here! Proper Portuguese street food experience. Had a cod and pork croquettes for my starter, absolutely delicious. For the "main" had the pork sandwich with lots of chips (fries) on the side and Super Bock beer to wash it down. Left the place super Full and happy. Money well spend, portions really generous.

My favorite and traditional place to eat in Porto. I'm going there every time I'm around. Nothing fancy, just an old school pork sandwich. But what a sandwich! I usually go with the cheese and caramelized onions version but go for whatever you prefer, it's worth the experience anyway! Very famous locally, come and taste a bit of Porto's culture!

  • 5/5 Rohit 8 months ago on Google
The sandwiches are ridiculously good. Not a vegetable in site, nicely toasted bread slathered in cheese or meat of your choice. I recommend the number 7 and 9, sheep cheese with ham and the shredded pork with sausage, washed down with a pint of beer. Every time I come to Porto, I will come here.

The Sandes de Pernil Com Queijo da Serra (pork sandwich with cheese) is simply amazing..a little expensive by Portuguese standards (€7.5/sandwich) but I wager many tourists tend Casa Guedes given the location and the fact that I witnessed many dining. The outdoor patio is nice, and the area is lively and busy. I also had an espresso & Super Bock beer. Highly recommend 👍

  • 2/5 Jeppe C. 9 months ago on Google
We ate for lunch at Casa Guedes - which was super busy (almost impossible to get a seating) Our experience with the service was not good. We ordered the traditional Francesinha sandwich, a small beer and a cola. The drinks came fast, but we ended up waiting 45 minutes for the food. By that time our drinks were empty, so we ordered two more - however they didn’t come before we had to pay. 😅 We expressed our annoyance with the waiter. But they couldn’t do anything to compensate us before we talked with the manager. They compensated us 10€, which was fair. But all in all, we would rather have eaten another place.

Absolutely delicious roasted pork & cheese sandwich, served with a perfectly sized, cold Superbock and freshly made potato chips. Simple, traditional and oh so good!

  • 4/5 Erick L. 1 year ago on Google
Came here to try their “house” Francesinha but was mildly disappointed. Maybe the taste and and style of food just wasn’t for me, but with all the hype, I was expecting something more decadent and complex. It is a pretty big serving though, so come hungry if you don’t want to waste.

  • 5/5 Evelina L. 2 years ago on Google
Absolutely delicious pork sandwiches, we had 4 different ones and loved them all! #14 was the best though! Great fast service as well.

I came here and ordered the #8 sandwich to go. For a pork sandwich, it was pretty good. Exactly as it sounds - bread, pork, cheese.

Very good sandwich with pork, cheese and sweet onion. Good service and location with the rooftop, four stars as they forgot to add the cheese in the sandwich in the first place but corrected bringing new sandwiches. Thanks!

  • 5/5 Guillermo M. 2 years ago on Google
Great place... Super cold beer. Prices are reasonable... "pernil" sandwich is good. No small snacks after certain hours... Could be better on that

  • 3/5 Stefan B. 11 months ago on Google
Look the meat was just great. But had better across Porto and the price doesn't do it a good favour as here is 5-7 and in other places a sandwich with fries included is 3-5. So one star minus for this reason. A second -1 star is because of the hard bread that we had. Seriously this is such an easy fix. We had so much better nice bread in other sandwich shops than this hard one. At the point you cannot fully enjoy the delicious pulled meat with goat cheese. Chips also come separately and unsalted. The salt on the table will not stick to them.

  • 5/5 Yana T. 1 year ago on Google
Best sandwiches ever. Super tender pork! Just pork in a sandwich with the meat juices is a perfect meal. We tried several varieties on our trip to Porto. The one with black pig sausage, one pineapple, one cheese and port onions. All delicious! I recommend one with meat and pineapple for a perfect combination of sweet and savoury. The staff is very kimd as well. Unfortunately we only found this wonderful place a few days before we left. We would have gone daily!

Had the famous Portuguese pork sandwich, handcut fries and glass of white wine for under €11. Seating outside on proper metal tables and chairs under large umbrellas. There is a menu with many choices. The pork is tender and carved for every order and there is an option to add cheese inside (we went with plain only). Fries were non-oily and munchable. Mayo, mustard and ketchup sachets given upon request. We found a couple of sachets were impossible to open - this happens every time we get sachets.

  • 2/5 Ysabel K. 1 year ago on Google
The food was pretty good. We sat on the rooftop. The waiter was careless. He didn't attend to our table at all - was just chitchatting with the next table because they tipped him. The waiter also asked that table to leave a good review and mentioned his name. We waited for more than 25 mins in the wind for our bill but he never brought it. Finally a waitress helped us and sorted it out under a minute.

Casual, order at the counter, neighborhood eatery right across from the park. Indoor and outdoor dining. Many variations of the traditional Portuguese pork sandwich with tender, flavorful, marinated meat on a very soft roll. Full menu with other options, including souos and a salad. The chicken soup had pasta and very tasty shredded chicken in a flavorful broth, perfect on a cool night. Rounded out the meal with a shredded pork and cheese croquette, a large Super Bock and a small red wine. A very satisfying meal with lovely park views. Restrooms/WC down the spiral staircase.

AMAZING hot roast pork sandwich. We ordered with cheese which was strong and beautifully flavoured. It worked really well with the pork. They also have mustard which you can add if you like it. Beers are reasonably priced. Loved this place. There was no queue at 6pm on an October Tuesday. My only dislike was the bread roll which started to disintegrate quite quickly.

  • 5/5 Davide S. 1 year ago on Google
Amazing burgers. We ordered #14 and #15 and they were very very tasty! Also chips are handmade so they deserve a special mention! We eat at the rooftop and the view was incredible!

My boyfriend and I made a little Porto city Trip in August, he has been many times but it was my first time. He showed me his favourite places, one of which was Casa Guedes. We had the little “sandwiches” which are absolutely beautiful. Being a real meat lover, he couldn’t get enough of the simplicity and beauty of their speciality. Fresh ingredients, beautifully put together and the whole place has a really nice atmosphere too. Traditionally, the food nicely pairs with a cold Super Bock. You almost feel like one of the locals! Couldn’t recommend this place more. A must see (and eat!) when in Porto.

Great pork sandwich. It was juicy and the caramelized onions and Brie were the perfect additions. The soup wasn’t my favorite but good to try!
