Very excellent ! 10/10 Reception (Accueil FR) : -Very excellent from the seller -Very details of how wine work even we know it because we come frol France (we were just curious how the seller will tell us how it works and if it was just for selling something expensive or not) but finally it was all good and he explained us which wine was better to taste, to eat with some meat... -Bonus : he can speak french very well ! Price (Prix FR) : -Very affordable, not expensive plus some tips from the seller (which wine you should take if it's for an aperitif or entry, or for diner with your friend and family...) ------ Commentary : I was looking for a Porto wine for my father and we succeed when we were in this wine cellar. Thanks to the seller, we were sure that it was a very good seller, not only selling but keep sure that his customer will be satisfy of their buy. He can speak French, go in his shop, you'll be very satisfy of his services ! I recommand it with some pleasure from France and for someone who drink red wine, he's surely a good guy who sell you quality !

Jorge ( I am probably misspelling the name) was very helpful and guided us through the choice with his experience and knowledge. He gave us the opportunity to try the different types of port and explained all the characteristics and peculiarities. Last but not least, he airplane wrapped all the bottles! If you happen to be in Porto and want to buy some port wine, you should definitely visit them!

Great experience here. They helped us pick out a bottle from a local vineyard that doesn't export. It was very reasonably priced. We enjoyed trying a few different options. So much more enjoyable that the tours and tastings in Gaia

Amazing experience. The staff is passionate about their shop and wines. I went there during my stay in Porto. They took the time to explain the wines, what would suit my taste and helped me choose. They never pushed for more expensive bottle trying to make a sale. As it was quite a bit of bottles (15) I asked if they could ship it to the Netherlands, answer is yes and for a very affordable and fair price. Only 1 week after I receive all the bottles. They packaged with care and nothing was broken. I highly recommend this shop and would most certainly order from them again ! Thank you Garrageira do Carmo for this great experience!

The owner was very accommodating and gave us a mini lecture on Port wines. Even made us taste some ports for our consideration. His passion for smaller, independent vineyards was also much appreciated. He also didn't upsell or push the more expensive bottles but rather shared his preferences even if they were less expensive. Rare to see sellers like that. Really great experience.

What a fantastic experience. We came for a wine and we left with knowledge, experience and of course, a couple of bottles. You would expect the owners of a well established shop to care less about the visitors and buyers, but this is not the case here. We have received a great presentation about all the different types and gradations of port, about how the wine is made, how its stored, what's important to understand, how to read and what to notice on the bottle labels. We got a brief about the different producers and their history, we spent over 30 minutes just listening - we basically came when we know nothing and we left much more knowledgeable about what we drink and buy. And yes - the prices are more than fair and you are never rushed or pushed to buy this brand or another. Garrafeira do Carmo was not a shop, but a real experience for us.

I highly recommend this liquor store. When I visited Porto, I stopped by this store to get some recommendations on good red wines from Douro. Diego was very friendly and kindly gave good advice as to good vintage year, winery, etc. He provided an advice how to order good Portuguese wines from abroad. I highly recommend to visit this store if you are looking for good wines.

The reviews for this shop all rave about the amazing service... And.... They are absolutely correct. The service and time we got from the English speaking staff member was incredible. He patiently gave us lots of information, passionately answered our questions, respected our price range without ANY upselling strategies, and gave us a taste of different ports to show us the differences. We ended up buying two lovely bottles to bring home! 100% recommend this place!

Very nice place with helpful staff. They have all kinds of wines, but nothing ordinary like the rest of the stores in downtown. Would recommend to stop by if you plan to buy some wine for home.

Before looking in any other store, come here first. I made the mistake of buying a port wine in a more touristic shop and paid 20 euro more for the exact same bottle. The price is only a small part of the service, of course. The explanation I received on the different wine houses, wine types, etc. was just amazing. If you explain what you're looking for, they won't be afraid of offering you the best value for money, even at half the price of other options. Cannot recommend this place enough.
