It’s fun, interactive and very informative. For Miami patterns is actually really nice. Most pieces of the museums were donation, which made the “history” more interesting. Kids loved it. Saturdays are free. @grazicall

It was really a surprise for me. I didn't imagine that the exposition of the history of Miami and of Florida in general was so good. It is talked about from prehistoric times through the time of indigenous , people who had read after the Second World War, the arrival of the first Cubans to Miami. The inherited traditions are also shown, it is truly incredible. it's worth it

A cultural oculus centered in Downtown shining light on the diverse history and colorful character of Miami. The History Miami Museum is an immersive experience diving deep into the treasures of the past. Moments in time on display encompassing the space of two buildings and intrinsically located next to the library for further cerebral enhancement. Explore freely and absorb the magic of Miami!

A hidden gem in Miami. You can easily spend up to two hours here. Right next to a metro/train line really helps.

Miami is known worldwide as a “fiesta city”; but although it doesn’t have a lot of museums like other big cities, if you are interested in culture, you can find some good venues/events here as well. One of them if the History Miami Museum, located Downtown, in an area frequented by a lot of people not as fortunate as we all are, but frankly I never had a problem walking there (at least during the day). We found this little gem thanks to a Groupon offer, and went to Miami last month for a day trip just to see the museum. Unfortunately we found it closed, and there was no sign at all at the entrance, nothing indicated on their website, no special message on their answering machine… It was a passer-by that reminded us it was Veteran’s Day: our fault for not having thought of that, but I’m still rating the museum 4 stars instead of 5 because of their lack of proper communication (potential international visitors won’t know that city’s offices are closed for Veteran’s Day). So we took another day trip to Miami this month to go and see the museum. The museum consists in 2 buildings of 2 floors, and you start your visit in the building displaying items belonging to the most recent history of Miami. I understand that in this section they also have special exhibits, but unfortunately there was none not when we visited. I found the second building much more interesting: it goes from the old times and also has more items. The place is small, but I think we stayed in the second building for almost a couple of hours: I loved it! It’s very informative, shows lots of very old pictures, a video, and makes you want to further study Miami’s history. I really enjoyed my visit!

Nice weekend stop. They do a great job sharing the history of Miami. They have a great breadth of history. They designed it to be assessable for all ages and even have kids puzzles and books to fill out. The only knock is there is a lot of race bating and pandering and only from one point of view. But you can easily skip that if it doesn’t interest you.

Excellent experience. Came here for a quick visit. A small museum that does a good job capturing the history and culture of Miami. I like the bright colors in their displays. They keep the information simple and to the point. My recommendation is they need a gift shop.

Beautiful to see the Dreams Exhibit and learn about all the people that have lived in Miami. Including my people, Haitians! Loved the tour guide and will be returning again! Free for families every 2nd Saturday. Check site for monthly updates.

Was really excited to go, looks interesting. Unfortunately some of the staff working there seem to have nothing better to do with their time but walk around ordering ticket purchasers to cover their faces. No other visitors, only paracitical nuisances intent on bothering and making life as unpleasant as possible for those visiting and funding the upkeep of the museum and their employer. Very disappointing. Was unable to see much of the museum beyond the entrance.

So worth it and fun!!! Don't miss this. Really well curated, interesting and inclusive history of Miami. Fascinating stuff! You will leave with such a different view of the city and the region. The staff are super friendly, and they are offering FREE access right now to help out your pockets during the pandemic. Bring the whole fam!

Every time I visit there is more to learn and see. The museum is spread in two buildings and the north one is quite interesting for children and adults. The exhibitions in the north building are perfect the way they are and not sure why they need to re-evaluate and change anything. History is not something we change :)

It was nice to learn about Miami’s history from the Seminole’s tribe, the arrival of the train , The Cubans, very inspiring. Fall in love with The Gateway to Latin America.

Actually two museums, North Bldg. has the History of South Florida, South Bldg. has more local items. Lots of hands on displays and informative stories. Not too expensive & a pleasant, interesting way to spend an hour or two

Nice place to visit for a 2 hours quick overview about the history of Miami from 10,000 years ago 😱 I went when it was free. I think it's quite a new museum and pretty small, but what they have is all well made and presented. Good educational trip.

The History Miami Museum was a nice surprise. It is definitely not one of the most celebrated museums in Miami, but it turned out to be very interesting. The best part is in the second building, north of the main ones; we spent almost 2 hours there and you can learn a lot about the history of Miami. I definitely recommend a visit but take your time in the 2nd bldg. to read what you are looking at.

Super Bowl volunteer events. The Miami History museum is a must see. It depicts miami in it's infancy to modern day world class city. I also got a chance to see the NFL exhibit from Joe Montana jersey to Jerry Rice and a host of others. To cap it all off. The interactive kicking and throwing exhibits. I had a great time.

I had a wonderful experience at the Museum of History in Miami. While I didn’t get to complete the entire tour, what I did see left me thoroughly impressed. The option to access a guided tour by calling a number and selecting the specific exposition you’re interested in is a fantastic feature. It added depth to my visit, and I found it very engaging. One highlight to note is the second Saturday of each month when admission is free, and they offer additional activities such as art crafts and presentations for kids. On other days, the $15 entrance fee is quite reasonable for the experience you receive. For those on a budget, keep an eye out for free tickets at the main library, and you might even get a chance to bring a friend along for free. The Museum of History provides an intriguing journey into Miami’s rich history, making it a must-visit for anyone looking to explore the city’s vibrant past. I highly recommend this place for an informative and enjoyable outing.

Fun day today at the Miami History Museum. Especially since today was free entry for everyone. This place had a lot to see. More than I expected. If you are in the downtown area. Make some time to check it out. An hour to two max to see all the displays they have. Lots of interesting facts and history of the Miami area. Also if you are new to this area. Look for the Metro mover around the North side of the Museum to get a free ride around the City.

History Miami Museum was celebrating their 50th anniversary. It was a culture festival downtown Miami. A stage w/live band, a vegan area, vendors. Of course free museum day, I loved it, fun!

It was amazing to see the history of Florida and Miami. I recommend to spend the day there. Just the main building alone has tons of information on our city. It's a great place to bring kids and teach them about the "Magic City"

A great museum with a look at Miami and Florida history. Galleries are all well curated with friendly and available staff. I was most impressed with the History Museum’s effort to ensure all voices and stories are told. There are signs throughout explaining the museum’s policy for reviewing content for inclusivity. There are then additional 8X10 sheets with updated info. This is a great way to tell the complete story of Miami and Florida history. The south section of the museum has a small gallery about the proclamation in Miami recognizing LGBTQIA+ Pride month and related art. Another great step toward representing more communities.

Miami’s definitive history museum! They have an awesome showcase of South Florida’s history dating from the Neolithic to modern times. They also host events such as Komorebi ( a bonsai enthusiast group ) and many others.

Went there for a free event intended for kids. Not sure if we saw the whole thing. The stuff we did see was interesting but more geared for adults which was fine. You can park at the connected garage and get it validated so you only pay $5 for your whole stay.

What an experience! This hidden gem has the most attention to detail I’ve ever seen in a historic museum. The attractions are unique and innovative. You can tell a lot of work was put into the design, implementation and planning of it all. Friendly staff is always a plus. Thank you for making this experience available to the community. Culturefest 7 was amazing! Will be there next year.

If you're in Miami and interested in the history of the region and the city this is a great starting point. It wasn't as comprehensive of the post 1950s as I would haveiked, but it was still full of lots of cool memorabilia and factoids.

Visiting this art museum in New York was an absolute feast for the senses! The vast collection of artworks worldwide left me in awe of human creativity and ingenuity. The museum was beautifully curated, each exhibit telling a unique story. I was captivated by the masterpieces on display, and the knowledgeable guides made the experience even more enriching. It's a must-visit for art enthusiasts.

Cool museum! We stopped by for some AC before a cruise; and only saw the 'historical' side which had a lot of folklore and it was really interesting to see the connection on how it has shaped today's culture. Would have been a 5 star review but the music side was closed... I'll have to check it out next time I am in town.

We visited the museum during Miami's Culture Fest, so perhaps it was a bit more fun. But the museum has several interesting artifacts, including a raft made by Cuban refugees. It helps put their escape attempts into clearer focus.

First of all it’s important to mention that admission is free on the second Saturday of each month. Two wings, one mostly history and the other cultural. Both are worth your time. No gift shop so additional information will have to come from books on Amazon. Also, the balance between pre and post-1950 tilts quite a bit to older times. Given Miami’s recent explosive growth, I would have preferred more post-WWII focus. Definitely worth a visit.
