A nice museum and can easily spend time really fully checking out every piece or walk through in about an hour. It’s $15 for admission though there are a lot of ways you can get in for free like being a Miami resident. The staff was very friendly and helpful. There was strict masking procedures and very clean. They there was a very thoughtful presentation of the art and the artist.

This week my friend and I visited Miami Beach for Spring Break. We are both fans of arts and culture and the Bass Museum was definitely on our hit list. Admission was $15 - it is free for locals, seniors and students. There are three exhibits on the main floor and another one on the second floor. We did the entire museum in about an hour. I have been to better museums and expected a little more art from painters I knew; however, I did appreciate the unique interactive exhibits on the bottom floor. I think if you are a Miami resident or can receive free admission, the Bass should be on your list.

A portal, a unique perspective, an escape route lined with with surreal yellow blossoms to twist perceptions and paint expressions of new realities. Ideas, thoughts, colors, domesticities electrified and on display presented as a feast for the eyes. Freely explore as a Miami Beach resident. The cafe and shop are just cherry!

This was a calming experience. The exhibits seemed a little bare, but enjoyed it. There was a Groupon special going on, so it was definitely worth the money, but I’m not sure I would pay the full price. The Collins park right outside had beautiful trees and rock tour, which was super cool!

If your staying on or near south beach and you are a lover of arts you need to check the Bass out. Not only was the curated art amazing and interactive but the gallery staff engages with public and are there to tell you more about the art work. I have been to my fair share of contemporary art museums but the experience I had at the bass raised the bar. The staff def had a lot to do with my amazing experience. I learned so much.

This is a relatively small but super fun museum! The Bass combines a multiple galleries and exhibitions with very exciting activities for the kids and family. They offer music, crafting, arts classes and different activities for the entire family on some specific days of the months; your kids will love them 😍 The museum is located in Collins Ave in South Beach where you have not only beautiful outdoors, but the opportunity to combine this visits with the beach, restaurants or simply exploring Miami Beach. They are very family oriented and the staff is super friendly 😍

This museum has some super cool pieces and is a fun and peaceful alternative to the chaos of south beach for an hour! The downside: admission is $20pp and I felt the museum was rather small for that fee. **I think there’s a Groupon for $8pp, which would totally make this place worth it! All in all, it was a very clean, organized and well staged museum! If you’re into contemporary art, check it out before you leave!!

I’m totally in love with The Bass. The art is lively, fun, and excessively instagramable. The work is very carefully selected, and rather than being about individual works of art the museum focuses on making entire rooms a work of art. Each gallery has a unique and palpable feeling.

Cute little museum. The second floor was closed as they were adding new exhibits. So wasn’t able to get full experience. All of the staff there was super helpful and friendly. Very knowledgeable and able to explain exhibits. They have a small market that sells small bites and drinks. The curry chicken empanadas were really good!

I came here for the two o’clock guided tour on September 16th, 2023. Unfortunately, it is low season and the museum in under renovation and the guided tour is not happening for now. Entrance fee is 15 usd. As there was only one exhibition, I entered for free. The venue is extremely clean. The temperature inside is great for these hot humid September days in Florida. Staff is great. Toilets are great, too. I did not go to the Museum Coffee Shop so I can’t give my opinion in that. Oh… wifi connection is great as well.

3 stars is generous because it is a little pricey for the size you can see everything in under an hour. Displays were nothing to write home with only one notable exhibit “El Fin…” Overall not impressed, but it is a calm place to be and Employees were so friendly and willing to explain the pieces.

Back when I created cement and art deco, Henry Flagler made a grilled cheese sandwich. My daddy said back in Delaware Pennsylvania, “Joey, get over here!” He was right then and he was right now then. But today is now, and here you can have a museum. Look at it.

Returning after many years of absence. Collection on display was limited but had some VERY interesting pieces out from storage! A mix of Baroque next to Folk Art. Some revolutionary Modern objects. Iffy Parking, it’s South Beach! DO enjoy the lovely trees in the Museum’s Park. My family and I had a FREE pass. Miami Dade Library card holders, your local Branch has passes.

This is a great museum. The day we went it happened to be free, but we would have happily paid. There were a lot of very interesting and unusual exhibits. I'm surprised they let people climb on the giant bed, definitely try it if you go! For those saying it's too short or not worth the money, I would say they are not giving the exhibits due consideration. Many of them clearly took a great deal of time, creativity and craftsmanship by the artists. Well worth a visit.

Thank you BM for the opportunity to see "The coronation of the Virgin," it was a special treat. In order to make this rare experience even richer, I'd suggest to the museum management to place at least one comfortable bench in front of this 106" X 69" masterpiece. There is a lot to appreciate in it and it may take time. To be fair, there were, in fact, two stools in the room, and I sat on one of them for a brief moment. However, the security man, very politely, told me that the stools were to be used exclusively to watch the video "about" the restoration of the painting, NOT the painting itself (The painting doesn't seem to deserve a stool, but the movie about the painting, does). Therefore, in other words, in order to stay sitting, the security man instructed me that I'd have to turn my body 90 degrees and look at the video monitor on the other wall, not at the painting. I guess that, in order to comply with the rules, if while watching the movie I wanted to look at the painting to relate the movie/restoration work to the artwork itself, I'd need to perform a succession of stand ups/turn 90 degrees to face the painting, then turn back the same 90 degrees to face the video monitor, and sit down again. And again and again, as my curiosity demanded. Feels more like being in a gym than in a museum... Let me point out that there were comfortable benches in the other rooms. Another detail, I was accompanying an elderly artist with serious breathing difficulties (for example, he could not climb the stairs to the second floor to see the Sheila Hicks exhibition and the elevators were out of order). He was also told to get up and NOT use the stools to look at the painting. Only to watch the video. "Security" in the other galleries felt somewhat overbearing as well. On the positive side, today, Sept 29th, was a "free admission" day, and the ladies at the information counter were super nice and helpful. Thank you again BM. So, 10 mths later, you responded by asking me for more "details" ???? really? have you even read the review? Maybe you have an automatic system answering all reviews during the corona virus situation. I'd suggest you to just say that, "we can't address any issues during the covid 19. Sorry". It would be more honest and sound less...

Small, but interesting museum in the heart of Miami Beach. Offers an experience in contemporary art and occasionally concerts and family activities;-) I just have to add to this review... Since the recent renovation, the museum has transformed into a modern art gallery with the most amazing exhibitions... The previously dark spaces showcasing mummies have been turned into lively galleries presenting contemporary artists... For one of the most recent exhibitions, one of the rooms has been turned into a club! Definitely a great experience for adults as well as kids...

I visited with a cultural library pass. I had my 3 grandchildren with me. One was 4 months (stroller) the other 12years old and a 3 yr old. I went to a side entrance and was motioned to come to the front. Now the 2 employees could see the stroller. We went to the front and literally carried the stroller up about 6 stairs. Mind you there were Employees at the desk just watching ALL this occur. The greeting was poor and I was told NO STROLLERS were allowed. So we went 2 and 2 to see the exhibits. I couldn’t believe for what was offered that amount of Employees present. The guard said I could exit out the side door with the Stroller. Guess who just stood there watching us leave the 2 employees that directed us to go to the front door. I felt that this experience was HORRIBLE. I’m glad my grandkids are young and won’t remember this. The 22 year old lives on MB. The exhibit is not worth the time/energy. I’ll NEVER go there again.

We visited in July when the Sheila Hicks display was in place, it was 10 dollars for the three of us (12 and above) and free for the child. It’s not a big museum but it was quite thoughtful and we had about 50mins of entertainment and they involved reading every plaque in the building. The staff where quite friendly and the four star is based on the small size of the venue

Nice small gallery. Art is well presented and can easily see everything in under an hour. Hit and miss on the pieces themselves but that's contemporary art for you. The place was really quiet so we were being followed by security which is a bit unsettling but they were actually really friendly and let us know we could actually interact with a few pieces.

Very disappointing. This must be the smallest art museum I have been to (and I’ve been to many). It consists of a handful of exhibits from contemporary (i.e., within the last few years) local artists. It took about 30 minutes to see everything. The quality didn’t make up for the tiny quantity. I find it mind-boggling that this is a well-known museum and that they are able to charge for entry.

This small museum has recently reopened. We visited when a major exhibit was being installed and they generously charged half price for admission. The exhibits that were available were quite interesting and we were happy to have spent some time away from the bustle of South Beach. Great location at Collins Park. Small and funky art exhibition with a small cafe. It’s a nice break from the frantic South Beach.

The Bass is a MUST SEE on Miami Beach! Wonderful, friendly staff and security, delicious food in the cafe, and a truly thought-provoking and engaging array of art throughout the various exhibitions, which have been carefully curated. I was lucky enough to see the Botticelli restoration, which was a great treat as I was expecting to see only contemporary art, but I learned about the Old Master's that was part of the founding collection. The Bass is a small but mighty contemporary art powerhouse on Miami Beach. Run, don't walk.

Underwhelming. Looks like a much bigger space from the outside. The art was beautiful, it just didn't meet expectations, quanity wise. Also felt like there were too many curators jumping on every human who walked through. Personally, I love to look at art from my perspective and it felt like there were a lot of personalities hindering my experience. Again, I PERSONALLY would've been better off left alone to explore rather than being bothered every 15 seconds
