If you're a history buff you'll enjoy visiting the Truman Little White House. Our tour guide Rick was fantastic. He had great knowledge of President Truman's personal life, the house/property as well as numerous historical facts to share. My wife and I are glad we stopped by to see this place while vacationing in Key West.

“If you want a friend in Washington, get a dog.” Words to live by this museum was a pretty fun experience. I learned quite a bit and our tour guide, Greg M., was extremely informative and pleasant. The property is very well maintained and there are a lot of cool details to look at, facts to read. The outdoors had some beautiful flowers and the grounds are very pretty to walk around or even have celebrations. President Truman made some tough choices and not everyone likes someone who goes against the grain, but now, everyone may see differently. Definitely a lot of respect for him and a big thank you to everyone who keeps this place going so generations can continue to enjoy it and learn.

Neat spot! They let you walk the grounds, visit the mini museum and gift shop for free! We felt we were able to get a good amount of information without spending the time and money on the tour.

Definitely worth a visit!!! My wife and I have been to key west a few times and finally were able to visit the Truman White house. Cost was about $25 per person. It's a guided tour through the house, and maybe took 45 minutes to an hour. Our tour guide was excellent. Smart and funny! We visited around ten rooms in the house, most of them with original furniture, and learned so many cool facts. Highly recommend!

Two things, I’m from Missouri, and the trip stops here. Seriously though, if you love history, this is a must do. It’s a very genuine and amazing piece of Americana that you can see very easily in the quiet Truman Annex area of Key West. A peak into the history and life of one of America’s most well-respected presidents in the modern era.

Really awesome. I am a big history bugf, and this place is full of it. Really nice presentation from the guide. Very informative, and answered lots of questions. The preservation of such an important location is wonderful.

This is the number one thing to see in Key West in my book and Gould be top 3 in anyone’s visiting. The house has an Interesting history and is so grand as you walk through. The Tour is less than an hour and would have liked a bit more time upstairs but still well done. Our Guide - Gary M. is very knowledgeable and eager to share with you what he has learned. You will certainly come away learning a few things you didn’t know previously. If you like touring well maintained older homes with a unique history and ties to milestone United States legislation, this is the place for you! Consider buying a membership, which will pay for itself immediately with gift shop discounts, unlimited entry, and guest passes. It’s with seeing more than once!

First time visiting this compound. Take time to look at all the tropical trees and plants outside, then go inside for the docent guided tour of the house as it was in 1949. See the desk where HST wrote over three hundred love letters to his wife Bess, the poker table with the top to “hide” it from the public, and the front porch where meetings past have been held. It’s no wonder several presidents have visited this place and Truman wanted to move the White House there and just stay!

What a peaceful and informative way to cool off on a hot afternoon in Key west. I learned alot from the tour which I think is worth the cost. My husband is more of the history but but I enjoy learning about history as well. Your guide was Greg M and was very knowledgeable of the property and Harry Truman. He also has a friendly fun attitude. The grounds are small but didn't feel rushed of the property at all. They also have a little store with some Presedential products.

The Truman Little White House is a great place to visit and you'll learn a lot while walking through the museum that is filled with authentic items from when the President lived here. The tour is about 30 minutes long, and does include the upstairs portion that is not wheelchair accessible, but they do have pictures and information. They do have great AC throughout the tour as well.

My wife and I are very glad that we took this tour as we learned a lot about President Truman and his contribution to our country while he was president. And we also learned a lot about the little White House in Key West and it's long over 200 year history.

We visited the Truman Little White House while visiting Key West on a cruise ship. The guided tour took about 45 minutes and was very interesting. It was a bit longer than expected and we usually prefer self-guided tours so we can move at our own pace but the additional information provided by the guide was worth it.

Beautiful grounds. Many other Presidents have stayed here as well. Walking distance from the cruise pier, if you’re into historical places.

Excellent tour. Impressive preserve on the decor. A real time capsule. The grounds are beautiful. Bob was an excellent tour guide. So glad we did the tour. Took about 45mins.

I loved our guide! We had Bob, not sure if he is the only guide, but he was extremely knowledgeable and clearly passionate about the house. Would definitely recommend; fascinating place in history and you'll be very aware that you're standing in the same places as all the notable people mentioned on the tour.

This was on our bucket list for our Key West visit, and it was pretty neat. Our tour guide Larry was very knowledgeable, and the house was well maintained and was just like you stepped back in time. I especially loved listening to the recording of Margaret singing and the table Harry Truman used for an evening of cards. The presidential car was also there, and it was interesting to learn it had no AC so it was truly a "hot car" back in the day. Check it out if you are in the neighborhood!

The guided tour is about 30 - 45 minutes. Costs about $25 per adult. It’s worth it if you’re a history buff. Tons of info on the guided tour. They have a free museum exhibition that you can enter through the gift shop if you want to do the reading / exploring at your own pace for a quick glimpse.

A very nice place to visit. The guided tour is definitely a recommendation. The guide has a lot of knowledge about Truman's and the building's history. The entire area is a very good condition, clean and neat. The souvenir shop personnel has also a very good knowledge about the former president.

Awesome experience! They give you a guided tour throughout the house, and you can see all the original furniture. This is a must see attraction when visiting Key West. They also have a self guided area with photos and descriptions. Highly recommended visit in Key West!

The Truman Little White House in Key West is a historical treasure. Stepping inside feels like a personal journey through presidential history, with informative guides and an authentic atmosphere. A must-visit for history buffs and anyone curious about the past.

If visiting Key West, the Truman Little White House is a great place to visit. Well done guided tour, or if your time is limited, there are some free exhibits. I was fascinated by the history of the place and how many significant events happened right here in Key West! There’s a small gift shop that was fun to look around in.

I wasn't sure if this tour would be worth it but I really enjoyed it. The guide was very knowledgeable and included humorous stories along with plenty of presidential facts. There is one set of fairly steep stairs but my 87 year old mother was able to manage them. While you wait for the next tour check out the gift shop. It's a cool break from the heat and the lady that works there is quite versed in island history.

What a great and quick tour to take. The little White House was visited by many Presidents but the most visited was Truman. Take a peek at many of Truman's artifacts and see how Presidents lived. Prices are reasonable, dress is casual and staff is really friendly.

My favorite tour I've done in key west! My tour guide was Greg M. And he was super knowledge about the house and Truman. I was able to buy tickets and take the tour with very little wait. And the wait seemed shorter as there is a little free exhibit in the gift shop while you wait. All of the staff was amazing and I learned a lot!

If you enjoy history, don’t miss a stop at the Little White House! Our tour guide did an excellent job and was very informative about each room and interesting things that happened there. It was great to spend an hour in the ac and out of the blazing midday sun too! If you don’t have time or don’t want to pay for the tour, there are two free rooms that have lots of information about the life and times of President Harry Truman.

What an experience outside of Washington DC to be able visit a functioning Little White House between 1946 - 1952. Used by other President's, and Truman's vacation home. It was originally built as quarters for Naval Officer's in 1890. It is considered the birthplace of the U.S. Department of Defense and the U.S. Air Force. Alot of history here. Nicely kept grounds. His presidential car is still driven around town. Tickets can be purchased onsite, you get a discount if bought online as well.

I have a great appreciation for history and Presidential libraries and museums etc and love a good history tour like the next person. We attended a large event on the grounds here and although the sprawling grounds were impressive and massive, the tour of the Little White House where Harry Truman spent a number of months out of the years as President, was pretty unimpressive. I am glad it was free and part of this event, otherwise I would of asked for a refund. Yes, you get to see some really cool 1950's era furnishings and hang out where Truman played poker and see his porch and bedroom and even a Presidential podium room etc, where he might of made a speech or two, but what this amounts to is two floors of just, an old house, a wax figure of Truman and a very large gift shop. That is pretty much it, and not much else. I would save your money on this one.

An unpopular President in his own time, Mr. Truman made some difficult and wise decisions. A spectacular Hawaiian shirt collection hangs in a windowed closet.

I never knew that this existed. It was a great experience. The tour guide was very knowledgeable. Ask for Bob. Ticket was part of the Conch Train tour

I new veryittle of the history of this place. I found it fascinating. The tour guide, I think his name was Kurt, was incredibly knowledgeable on the history of the facility and Harry Truman.

  • 4/5 Edward M. 2 years ago on Google
A friendly little tour. A few things about the place. No photography inside. Some of the rooms were off limits. I think much of it is dependent on your tour guide. Greg, my tour guide, did a great job adding stories and sometimes unknown facts. The museum was in the process of putting up Christmas decorations and a bit messy. But you still got to see a lot of the home.

Loved hearing the history of President Truman's time at the little white house in Key West. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable & engaging. No pictures are allowed to be taken on the tour inside. You can save a little by ordering tickets on line ahead of time.
