The guided trail tour today -led by Jarret - was wonderful. He knows about everything from plants to the history of the Estate to the Indian Burial Mound and critters that live in the protected areas. It was an interesting tour which i highly recommend! The Stone House and Richmond Cottage were also exceptional! Authentic decor and videos, plaques, audio tour added to the great experience! The beautiful grounds and view of Biscayne Bay are a must to experience!

I recently worked as DJ and MC at a wedding at this majestic venue. It was one of those magical evenings that wedding couples dream about. Everything was perfect. From the ceremony to the reception (one hundred and fifty guests). The Deering Estate could not have looked more amazing. This is quintessential Miami. Sweeping views of the bay surrounded by lush tropical greenery in a mansion built in the 20’s. The staff was courteous, helpful, and professional. I highly recommend it.

Beautiful place, it’s a must go in Miami. Very peaceful. We went there with my 93 year old father, the lady at the ticket booth kindly offered us a wheelchair to walk him around, he was delighted!

Deering Estate is a breathtakingly beautiful location that offers visitors a unique and immersive experience in the natural and cultural history of South Florida. From the moment I entered Deering Estate, I was struck by the natural beauty of the surroundings. There are lush forests, wetlands, tranquil lakes and vibrant wildlife. In addition, the historic buildings at Deering Estate are remarkable and offer a glimpse into the past. The Mediterranean Revival architecture of the Grand Stone House is awe-inspiring. As I walked through the rooms of the Stone House, I could feel the weight of history and the stories it held. The furnishings and decor have been carefully preserved to maintain the ambiance of the era. Overall, I recommend visiting Deering Estate if you want to explore a beautiful estate and stunning historic buildings and decor in Florida.

Very nice location. Great views of the ocean. House is great to tour. Ghost hunters would enjoy this place. Nice grounds to walk around. The holiday decorations were a nice touch. Takes about half an hour to an hour to walk around the houses, but there are trails as well to walk through the preserve.

Beautiful spot to walk around. Got to come here the other day and it was a beautiful sunny and very breezy day. Still quite hot but it was worth it. We were almost the only people in the entire park. In the bay area there were 4 manatee grazing on seagrass and lounging around near the surface and sunbathing it was very cute. Glad I got to see them. Glad we had a free pass also. The best part of the entire thing was the super sweet kitty that lives on the property. She got lots of pets from me.

Gorgeous estate in south Florida! My favorite part was the rocking chair set up on the veranda outside the house. I could sit there all day with my book, looking at the garden and the ocean. The house is beautiful with some actual recipes used inside the kitchen! I could walk the grounds all day, they are quiet and relaxing with a cool breeze! There is a great bbq place down the block for lunch as well!! 😃

Beautifully decorated during Christmas time and very reasonable prices. If you plan to bring your kids to see Santa though, the line is extremely long so I would recommend getting there right when they open which was 10am. Also make sure to bring your own set of headphones if you want to have audio when looking around the house, as that was not provided. I was surprised there was no obvious gift shop but they did have little markets set up selling random stuff. Its a beautiful estate and the wine cellar is an interesting touch.

We loved our visit to the Deering Estate. The stone house felt a bit heavy and one had the feeling of being watched, but we enjoyed being there so much. We were the only ones in the park which was perfect, we could take our time when we watched four Manatees eating seagrass and walking through both of the houses. It felt peaceful being there.

This is an old estate from the early 20th century that belong to a wealthy family, it’s located on a beautiful plot facing the ocean. There are two main house is on the property that look at the ocean and the view is amazing. Both houses are well decorated with historic furniture and other artifacts, and really interesting to learn about the family who lives there. The whole area in the park are not crowded. Even on the weekend, there are plenty of space to walk around outside and even to have a picnic. If you are visiting Miami, this is a great place to spend a few hours of quiet times. .

A beautiful estate and informative. Able to walk around both houses and was a great for a couple of hours stop-gap. Even a few manatees seen lounging in the basin. Be careful of the mosquitoes.

There are many beautiful old homes and historic buildings in Miami from Florida's land boom years in the 1920's and the 444 acre Deering Estate overlooking Biscayne Bay is one such example. The grounds of the estate are an environmental, archaeological and historic preserve containing one of the largest unspoiled coastal tropical hammocks in the United States. Through ten thousand years of human history Paleo Indians, Tequestas, Seminoles, Afro-Bahamians, and Anglo-Americans have all lived on the property that is now called the Deering Estate. Located in the Cutler neighborhood of Palmetto Bay, this was the retirement home of Charles Deering (1852-1927) who was a Chicago industrialist, preservationist, environmentalist, art collector, and philanthropist. He was the first chairman of the International Harvester Company. The property has a three-story wooden house built in 1900, called the Richmond Cottage which was named after S.H. Richmond and his wife Edith who, opened the house as an Inn which hosted such prominent guests Henry Morrison Flagler and James Ingrahm. In 1901 it was listed as the southern most hotel in the United States. In1916 the Richmond was purchased by Charles Deering who added it to other buildings he put on his on his estate which included a carriage house, pump house and power house. He also built a limestone and concrete wall surrounding the estate and built the boat turning basin in Biscayne Bay. While exploring the Richmond Cottage I discovered the alcove on the second floor that displays the results of all the paranormal investigations that have taken place around the estate. "Proof" included transcripts of conversations with spirits, accounts of first hand experiences, and photos. I enjoyed spending a few minutes looking through their albums and watching the short video. The estate has the reputation of being the most haunted in south Florida and in October through November the Deering estate offers ghost tours. In 1922 Deering completed his three-story Mediterranean Stone House designed by Phineas Pais who designed many of the beautiful buildings in Coral Gables. The home has poured concrete walls and oolitic limestone. Deering lived here until his death after which he passed to his wife and children. The last Deering relative living in the house passed away in 1982 and the property was listed for sale. The estate was acquired by the State of Florida in 1985, and is part of the Miami-Dade County Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces Department, which manages the property. In 1986 the Deering Estate was listed on the National Register of Historic Places. After Hurricane Andrew struck the estate in 1992, a wine cellar was discovered hidden behind cabinets. In addition to the buildings, the property contains two important archeological sites, the Cutler Burial Mound and the Cutler Fossil Site. One of the few surviving prehistoric mounds in Miami-Dade County, the Cutler Burial Mound contains the remains of 12 to 18 Native American from the Glades I and II periods (50,000 to 100,000 years ago). The Cutler Fossil Site is a sink hole discovered in 1979. It contains the bones of Pleistocene animals including extinct peccaries, mammoths, sloths, dire wolves, and saber-toothed cats along with artifacts from early humans. These sites are only accessible through a one hour walking tour led by a Deering Estate Naturalist. It is offered from October until May and included with the price of admission. In addition to touring the buildings and archeological sites the Deering estate offers canoe tours, paranormal investigations, bird walks, moonlit kayaking, Biscayne Bay boat tours, hiking on the nature trails, and eco-tours. The Deering Estate is open every day from 10 AM to 5 PM except Thanksgiving and Christmas. Adult admission is $15 but they offer different discount days. I was able to tour for $5 as part of a Fourth of July promotion. Follow them on Facebook to keep posted on all of the different events held at the estate throughout the year.

I accompanied my 6 year old child on a school field trip. I don’t understand the logic of bringing a bunch of little kids here to tell them endlessly to not touch anything, but that is what the staff had to do while they toured a bunch of little kids. I know they can’t control who tours, but maybe have children appropriate stuff to touch and do if you’re going to have MDCPS come to your property as a field trip. Either way, it was nice enough. My kid had fun and that’s all that matters.

Beautiful, small and peaceful location. There weren't many people when I visited which was nice. The history is interesting but the best part about this estate is the location and magnificent view.

A calm destination in Miami. Beautiful architecture takes you back to the 1920s. The garden is so quiet and photogenic. If you are lucky, you could see manatees from the deck in winter or spring. The closest bus stop is 30 mins away if you walk. The entire neighborhood is safe and quiet, so it’s not so bad.

Such a fun place to visit. Down by the water we were able to see manatees and just loved touring the house. There was lots of information to read about the various room as we missed the tour. We spent a few hours here and loved the wooded setting near the water. Great place to take a walk as well!

Beautiful estate and venue. Did not tour the home, just the grounds on the way to the boat tour thru Biscayne National Park. Breathtaking place! Hours were incorrect on Google so a little annoying we had to wait an hour outside at the gate area for them to open. Had a wedding going on that afternoon - great place for one. Adorable manatees swimming in the bay.

Having lived in Miami, not far from here, in the early 90’s, I’m surprised it took 30 years for my first visit. While a great piece of local history, the house, grounds and explanations were not that good. The grounds had its hammock trail closed from storm damage which is not their fault but regardless diminishes the experience. The house was always meant to be understated but it just seemed lacking on substance and really drawing you into the home life there.

The only thing open is ground during COVID. Really disappointed because their website had tickets on sale which we bought but when we got there we were told tickets were only $5 bucks and no they’re not refundable for the online ones. Not much to do or see since you could only walk the grounds and not go into any of the house museums.

Visit Deering Estate and take a stroll with Elias, you won't regret it! Elias was the perfect companion to explore this gorgeous and magnificent land with. I welcomed his sincerity, passion about the estate's history and curiosity about the vegetation we encountered. I'm so grateful for the level of attention to detail and gentle humanity I experienced today after months in quarantine. It really was a solid experience and one I won't forget.

An incredible oasis in the center of a paradise built only for legends and goddess ✨️ Truly an imaginary illusion laced in a botanical garden. That stretches for miles in antiquity brought on by hundreds of years of proclaimed historic triumphant glory. Every step through this immense Grove, proclusive garden, you will find a decadent past and a quaint beginning. Finding yourself lucky enough to reach this place with your significant other. I recommend you bring a picnic basket and enjoy it off the coast. On a bench away as the water reaches your feet and the sun glazes in the distance.

Wish we had more time. But we will be back! I absolutely loved this place and the staff was so welcoming and courteous. Very relaxing experience, I appreciate the history behind the estate. Im really considering the membership as there’s a lot of activities happening throughout the year. I enjoyed the rocking chairs outside the stone house, there was really nice breeze while viewing the ocean. I want to do a picnic as well. I highly recommend that you take the time to visit! There was a food truck outside by the entrance called lobster rolls and the wagyu churrasco roll really hit the spot, with the waffle fries, unfortunately I didn’t take a picture.

It's a pretty quiet place. There was no one really there when we went. We didn't know where we could and couldn't go. So we just opened a door to the main house and walked in. It's not like the other house. You get to go into the 2 houses and walk to the water. There no guides in the houses so it's go at your own pace. The room with the 2 dolls in it gave both me and my gf the creeps. I think there was manatees in the water maybe 3 pf them kinda playing so that was fun to watch
