My friend told me about a place called Secret Woods and I couldn't resist!!! It was one of the cutest park settings including the bathroom. They definitely took time to care for this space and it was lovely. We saw raccoons and butterflies, birds, iguanas, crabs. Some of the paths were closed due to King Tide flooding but we were still able to walk through a decent amount. Only thing would be to have designated areas for picnics but then again, cannot mess with the mangroves so, understandable. I loved exploring this place.

This is a gorgeous and well-maintained nature center. Plants are native and I didn't see any invasive plants (which are a HUGE problem in Ft Lauderdale). The trails are decently long for a good nature walk. They also have a LOT of public educational events posted. You can tell they work hard to help the community and provide family-friendly experiences for all to learn more. I'm still new to Fort Lauderdale and with all the run-down, overgrown exotic "parks" around, I was starting to think there weren't any protected natural areas around here. I was pleasantly surprised finding this place!! :) Also, they have lots of wildlife! Saw this cute raccoon while we were there. 🦝 *Note: For environmental reasons, dogs are not allowed at this park.

It took about an hour to walk all around the trails. They have really clean and pretty restrooms. All trails are very well maintained. We saw lots of crab halls and little crabs. Part of the trail(Manatee observation deck) was closed, but it seems not a big part of the loop. I will visit again!!

Really cool nature trails through some mangroves and wetlands that lead you to some views by a nice river. There's also a cool indoor area for kids to learn and get educated of the wildlife in the area. Really nice public bathrooms on site. No not really a place to have a picnic. Although there is some benches throughout the trials. It's a nice area to get away from daily life briefly.

If I could, I would probably come here on a weekly basis. It's so pretty and peaceful to walk around. This last time we saw a few egrets and a raccoon. There's a scavenger hunt sheet for children and also a nature center to check out with animal like snakes and tortoises.

Amazing place. There's still entrance during "king tide" season. Bring your rain boots is perfect in the months of September-November. So many other factors. For gathering and photo shoots.

This is a really cool public park that doesn't cost anything to enter. It is a great place to bring your family especially if you have kids. They have a nature center with snakes and turtles and interactive things for the kids to do including art projects. They have really nice walking trails and a butterfly garden. It's an amazing 57 acre oasis that's hidden and cool. My children really loved it. We highly recommend it!

Great place to visit to get away from city life, within city limits. It’s a must see. Broward county has done it again. PS: the bathrooms are amazing.

This park should be named Secret Jewel, seems small but it's full of interesting trails and deck walkways, well kept, easy access, the tree structures are something else, mangroves, oaks, old banyans, every step there's something new to see, kids playground looks pretty fun, long walkways over the mangroves with thousands of fiddle crabs making well fiddle crab noise. The museum and exhibition hall is quite interesting and well stock with a mixture of fauna and Ft Lauderdale and the river history, staff is very friendly and proud of their park. On a colorful note....they have the nicest and cleanest bathrooms on a public park I've ever seen !!! Come on by for family fun you won't be disappointed.

A great place to go for a walk in nature. They have lots of different wildlife and many plants to take a look at. Spiders are everywhere, but webs are not a problem. The paths are well maintained and there is a drinking fountain near the trailhead. Parking is also very convenient. The only problem we ran into is that part of one of the trails is closed for construction, but hopefully that will be done soon.

Extremely glad I discovered this place. It’s a little hidden and parking is limited but it’s entirely free. There’s even a cute educational center (mainly for kids and families). The butterfly πŸ¦‹ garden is a gem and the trails are beautiful. If you want to escape the hustle and bustle of South Florida, come here!

The name is perfect as this has been our secret family spot for years! We are avid butterfly gardeners and love to see the different breeds that visit. Also, the small crabs that run back into their burrows are cute. We always trek through the walkway to the back where the lake is. We always see Ibis' and many other birds as well. Don't forget to stop by the buildings to check out some cool kid's activities etc.,

What a wonderfully lovely place to walk! It is so nice to be surrounded by many welcoming nature trails while living in an area that doesn't always seem so nature focused. There are definitely bugs and wildlife all around you here. Be prepared to see some beautiful creepy crawly spiders!

Secret Woods is another wonderful park that I enjoyed exploring. Very educational too as you get to learn about the land and the natives that used to live in the area. An amazing experience for those that want to learn a bit of history and if you love being one with nature this is the right park for you. I got to witness the remnants of a wedding ceremony and how neat the area was laid out for the lucky bride and groom. Surprisingly enough I came here one after there was heavy rain activity and I found the flooded grounds more amazing than my second encounter were there humid and dry. Still worth a shot if you are an adventurer like me!

A delightful sanctuary in the city. Clean, easily accessible walkways with ample signage. We saw dozens of animal and plant species that are very well identified with clear illustrated guide signs. The manatee viewing platform was not yet accessible, but you can still get fairly close to the water.

One of the best nature centers I've ever visited. You wouldn't think such beautiful grounds could be found so close to the airport. It does feel like a secret being there. The nature center is great for young kids and adults, with a lot of interactive exhibits and activities. The bathrooms are so cool! The best part of our visit was finding the play zone in the middle of one of the trails where there is a sandy oasis filled with toys for little ones. Really wonderful place. Note for parents, to keep the place clean they do not allow picnics or food.

It's a beautiful place to hike to as it contains a lot of greenery. As well as some wildlife that occasionally passes. It's free to go to, not requiring any fees; (if you're willing to donate you can do so) since it's worth the trip. In addition to the park: that is its trails, it has its small exhibition and a garden with benches.

There is absolutely nothing bad that can be said about this place...there is something for everyone and yet it's not "too big"...the trails are well defined and easy for young and old alike to walk in a nice balance with nature...be on the look out for the beautiful Atala butterflies! They are rare yet present aplenty in the butterfly garden.
