Part of me is resisting writing this review… If you like South Florida’s typical beach scene, there is nothing for you here! Go hang at Margaritaville instead and sit at a bar on Hollywood broadwalk. But if you can appreciate raw nature, this is the place. This park is a rustic paradise and a hidden treasure. It’s far enough off the beaten path, yet close to everything. Miles of beautiful eroded beaches, white sand, turquoise water and lovely overgrown trails. They have nice pavilions for rent that feature some of the best ocean views in the whole of south florida. Good facilities - bathrooms, showers, picnic tables, etc. It’s one of the best destinations for wildlife watching and kayaking, with rentals available right inside the park. The jetty is currently closed (December 2021) and there is a lot of construction in the park, so please be safe as you drive through. Cost $6 per car with up to 8 passengers. Dogs are allowed on leash. Lots of parking on multiple lots.

Nice park. You can walk around the trails, fish from underneath the bridge, watch ships enter the port, hang out at the beach, rent kayaks. The beach is pretty but it is in the proximity of the port so it's not a 100% nature experience. There are a few nature trails. You can walk your dog on the trails but they aren't allowed on the beach. Plenty of parking.

6$ to enter. North beach/trails closed as of 1/25/24. Strong rip tides so maybe not the best for swimming, great to lay out and walk along. Lots of blue jelly fish, make sure kids don't touch them, they sting even after they've died. Diverse shells, coral & sponges on beach. Beautiful all around. Bathrooms have no soap so bring hand sani. Great for bird watching!

Love this beach. Not crowded. Clean. Barbecues and pavilions under the trees are very close to the beach. Nice sand, not too white as in Naples or Fort Myers, but clean and soft. So cool to pass by huge cruise liners which are docked on the other side of this areas. Kids love to play in the green tree area along the beach. Not all locations and exit to the beach have restrooms, but a lot of parking areas. Entrance is 6$ per car which is absolutely worth it. Some may be bothered by airplanes constantly flying to and from Fort Lauderdale airport, which is not far, I personally enjoy watching them.

What an amazing park. Tranquility of nature, gorgeous beaches, walking trails, pavilions, picnic tables, over look bridges of Whiskey Creek, kayaking and so much more. Bring your friends and families to enjoy special memories in moments of time together. Annual Passes can also be purchased here throughout the year and don't forget, they offer a 25% discount for veterans 🤠.

We were looking to get away from the city noise and yes, the 4th of July tourists, and started driving up north. We came across a Park Entrance and decided to go for it. Best choice ever. We were absolutely delighted. We Parked at Lot # 2 and the adventure began. We found several unused grills, lots of families having fun and a restaurant. The bathrooms were not as clean but it’s important to note that it was after 5:30 PM. The park would close at 8:30 PM. We had three hours of fun. Here are some pictures. Enjoy and don’t forget to head out there.

AMAZING!! Can I give it 10 stars? Beach BBQ right on the water. You have decent bathrooms and plenty of shaded areas. We had a blast! Can't believe this has been in my backyard and I never knew about it! 🏝 $4 bucks cash or credit for a car of up to 8. $2 per cyclist if you plan on biking there.

Beautiful beach. Lots of parking. Multiple lots. Costs $6 per car to enter. Quite a few campers parked there. The beach is clean. Lots of large rocks you can sit on. You can see all the ships and boats passing through. Very nice.

It is hard to describe just how awesome this place was, it had a little bit of everything and was the perfect way to spend 4 hours before getting on a flight. It had some nice sandy trails, places to rent paddle boards, jet skis, lots of different water to swim in! Cool wildlife and a sweet little spot to grab a bite to eat and some drinks! 11/10 will go again!

Biked to this park from Hollywood beach. Bike trail is shared with the cars. Admission for biker $2. Car is $4. Several short shaded walking trails. Kayak rentals. Quieter and cleaner beach.

☀️🕶️⛱️👙🧴Key West-like state park seven miles from Fort Lauderdale airport. Located on a barrier island accessible by bridge, this historic state park has a beautiful white sand oceanfront beach, plentiful parking and both open and sheltered picnic areas all near the beach. 🏝️🏖️ Named for two local civil rights pioneers who led “wade-INS” at segregated beaches the park is a well kept local secret and great place for outdoor celebrations and activities. On the bayside WHISKEY CREEK HIDEOUT offers casual waterside lunch in a peaceful setting. Kayak and paddle board rentals, decent facilities and nice people. 🛶🚣‍♂️🛳️

I don't want to tell everyone how wonderful this park is bc I don't want to share but it is amazing!! You have over 3 miles of beautiful beach. For those that don't enjoy swimming in the ocean, there is a wonderful river too! There is even a cute little restaurant & lots of grills & picnic tables!

Amazing get-away in suburbia, large beach ⛱️ shade, restrooms and Pavillons are in awesome shape, bbq spots and Picknick Tables are great, I. love this spot... The main fort Lauderdale inlet is just a walk away with great views of boats and cruise ships... During the week it's not crowded so the Beach is yours.. enjoy... :-)

Delightful Florida State Park for daytime use only. Edited. 12;2023 - Under new manager and the bathrooms are constantly out of soap & t.p. and the hand dryers don't work. It's filthy even in the morning . The park looks a mess because landscaping is only half done with branches and fronds laying around. The manager constantly berates the guests for minor things. And has the volunteers spy on the guests. The showers drip but don't take a gallon of water for drinking because it cost them money. While being berated, nearby is a pile of garbage on the ground that has been there for 3 days. It is no longer a pleasant experience but one that people constantly looking over one's shoulders for fear of doing something wrong.

Love this state park. $6 for the day, plenty of parking. FYI No lifeguards on duty. And no alcohol. Nice bathrooms, beach showers, bbqs for day trips. One of our favorite spots.

Beautiful park with white sand clean beaches! There are a lot of bbq stations and bench table seating too. Different palm trees to keep you in the shade by the bbqs and then nice open area by the beach if you want to get some sun

Always a wonderful park to visit! A great place for families to relax and enjoy themselves. Lots of beautiful scenery such as boat watching, kite riding, sailboats, etc.. I have a family pass for the year, and it's worth it!! Many different parking lot areas to choose from including pavilion rentals for parties or events. You can call the park for details. There is also a place to eat delicious food in a covered area watching the smaller boats go by. Whiskey Creek Hideout is a favorite of mine. Anything you order there is fabulous 🤩 All in all this is one of my favorite beaches for it's sparkling blue waters! The temperature was around 76 degrees today with many large waves for body surfing! Have fun!!

A divine beach to spend the whole day, or just for a quick visit. The park is very well organised with plenty of parking and public restrooms in several places. There are several boardwalks that cross to the wide, white sandy beach. We have always found a decent space to sit and relax, even on weekends when it is busiest. Entry to the park is $5 or 6 for the whole day, depending on the time of year, and parking is free. There are designated venues for barbecues, but outside these barbecuing and alcohol are strictly prohibited inside the park. There are plenty of opportunities to see the local wildlife, with pelicans, wading birds and, if you are very lucky, manatee in the canal opposite the beach. We enjoy snorkeling and you can find a wonderfully diverse population of fish just 30-40 yards out from the beach. Last time I went was the best I've seen in quite a while. A great place to visit.

I had a great experience here! The entrance fee is very reasonable, there’s plenty of parking, and the beach is very beautiful. It’s also fun to have planes flying right over you and ships coming into the port. The water was cold compared to other beaches in the area, but I think it’s worth it when you take into consideration the reduced crowds and cool atmosphere.

I used to live in Florida for more than 10 years, and this was my first time at this beach. It was absolutely gorgeous! It's clean, quaint, quiet, secluded, and so peaceful. The water was amazing!

That's looking north from the south end of the beach! I absolutely love this park and beach. I've been coming here all my life to enjoy the beach. Amazing beautiful and clean. It's never over crowded. Plenty of places to picnic with family and friends. It's a slice of heaven in South Florida!!💖🏖

There are so many places to explore in this very long park, each of the parking lots lead to unique paths and pavilions to be explored, or to the beautiful beaches. You can see the intercoastal along with the beach, there is a boat ramp for boaters, boat rentals for those in search of a scenic ride, and a canteen for breakfast or lunch.

What a great state park! $6/ car. Even on a busy Sunday there was plenty of parking and open spots on the beach. It takes a while to get through the front gate, but after that it's a great way to spend the day. Right now (March '23, the kelp is pretty bad) Fun to watch the cruise ships float by.

Love this place! Not only the beautiful nature all around you but it's more secluded not so populated. Lots of trails that my kids and I enjoy playing imaginary games that that is her house in our campsite even found some cool forts and the beach is absolutely gorgeous. Good beats to go to with the family especially if you have little ones that you need to keep an eye on. I tend to stay away from overcrowded beaches for that reason

This is a beautiful clean beach! It does get rather full in the afternoon but it is a great place to go in the morning. Waves were about perfect when we were there. Entry to the state park is only $6 per vehicle

We wanted to watch a passing cruise ship, and it was a great experience. Beaches are isolated and pristine, but amenities were good - changing rooms, and fresh water showers. Place I would recommend👍👍

The popular destination within the park is Whiskey Creek Bar and Grill. If you drive your own boat you can beach it in the hidden creek, visit the restaurant, use the washrooms, and walk over the peninsula to the ocean and beach. It’s truly worth the trip

NOT overrun by Canadians... or anyone else for that matter!! Great locals' spot. Interesting history, being a "colored beach" and all. Awesome spot for a beach day finished off with a cookout. Lots of provided tables and grills.

We rented out of a pavilion for the day, had full electric and water the team there was so friendly and accommodating. Florida beaches amazing as always. Unfortunately we didn't get a kayak as there was a lightning storm. Will definitely be going back!

Awesome park in Danya for boating and having a great beach day. They have food and a bar and you can rent water sports things like kayak and whatnot. Came on memorial day to grill and chill.

We enjoyed our time at the state park, we rented SUP boards from Whiskey Creek Hideout inside the park and paddled through the mangroves. We saw a ton of wildlife. It was cool to see the large cruise ships docked nearby in the intercoastal. They also had some food items and refreshments, including beer.

One of my favorite parks and beaches in South Florida, it is clean, empty and so so beautiful. You can see airplanes landing one end while having ships on the other side. It’s simply a gorgeous beach to take your family, you also have the Whiskey hideout place where you are able to get drinks and food.

  • 5/5 Hannah R. 2 years ago on Google
Nice beach, I like it out there. But the sand is eroding so you have to walk down a hill to get to the beach.

  • 1/5 Lisa B. 1 year ago on Google
I used to come here all the time! It was the best beach to come to! Now, I hardly come, and when I do, like today (9/11/22) I regret I came. The beach stinks! I know we have a sargassum problem. And that this park does not want to collect the sargassum from the sand. However, it not only makes your brand new sand dirty, but your water dirty as well, in addition to smelling really bad. Either you do something about it, or it is a beach park that will draw less and less people to come to it! So sad! It could be an amazing experience. Please address this problem!!
