Seminole
Park
is
located
in
the
Plantation
Isle
neighborhood
across
from
Tropical
Elementary
and
Seminole
Middle
schools.
The
majority
of
the
park
is
a
large
open
green
space
ideal
for
exercise
and
play.
Park
amenities
include
a
half
mile
jogging
path
with
20
exercise
stations.
During
my
visit
many
people
were
exercising
on
the
course
and
I
joined
them
after
I
ate
the
picnic
I
brought.
The
park
also
has
a
restroom,
a
playground
although
part
of
it
was
boarded
off,
two
lighted
tennis
courts,
a
sand
volleyball
court,
two
covered
picnic
tables
which
were
in
the
process
of
getting
new
roofs,
and
picnic
tables
where
I
ate.
Located
within
the
park
is
the
Happy
Trails
Dog
Park.
Pop
Travers
field
park
with
softball
fields
and
concession
stands
are
linked
to
Seminole
Park
by
a
bridge
over
the
canal.
My
favorite
discovery
in
the
park
was
a
nest
of
burrowing
owls
near
the
sand
volleyball
court.
Burrowing
owls
are
considered
endangered,
threatened
or
of
special
concern
in
nine
U.S.
states.
Unlike
other
owls,
they
are
not
strictly
nocturnal
and
are
active
during
the
day.
They
make
their
nests
in
underground
burrows,
which
are
dug
out
by
ground
squirrels
and
they
prefer
open
grasslands.
A
female
was
sitting
outside
the
burrow
and
as
soon
as
I
approached
she
called
out
and
the
male
flew
out
of
the
burrow
to
stand
in
front
protect
her.
She's
got
herself
a
great
guy.
I
didn't
want
to
upset
them
so
I
left
them
to
their
peace
but
I
did
so
enjoy
seeing
them
during
my
little
Earth
Day
celebration.
We
all
have
to
do
our
part
to
keep
the
earth
healthy
and
protect
the
vulnerable
like
these
little
guys.
