Only 3 things I'm not happy with Sylvester Downtown Miami: 1. The food in the cafeteria is so bad it's offensive. They use some sort of powdered egg to make scramble eggs (ew!), the first ingredient in the chocolate mix for hot chocolate is SUGAR. Really? Do they need a reminder that cancer loves sugar? What does a cancer patient needs to do to have a decent, clean, healthy meal around here? 2. The tv services in the PET scan private little rooms are not working! Somebody "forgot" to program the clock! The wait it's probably 1 1/2 hours to 2 hours for them to start doing the scan, so you're in this room with a tv, and internet that's not working. It's a little ridiculous they have state of the art facilities, but when it comes to accommodate patients, it seems you're been treated in a third world country. 3. I don't know how many times I need to tell them not to schedule me for appointments without giving me a call first. I have a life, a job, etc. They just don't care! Personnel is compassionate, kind, and they treat you with dignity. Is the small things that make a difference. You know, like when the devil is in the details.

I have been a patient for 10 years now and have spent thousands upon thousands of dollars at this hospital system. When I say the doctors here are amazing… they truly are. They have saved my life and I am most grateful. In the past year I have had so many appointments cancelled with no regard to a patients need. Then I am offered to reschedule months after the actual appointment date. How does this make sense? Some of these appointments were made 6-12 months ago. You wait many months like an average of 4 months or more to get an appointment then are cancelled by administration and rescheduled for 3 or more months later! It’s happened so many times I have lost count. I am beyond frazzled and upset right now after being cancelled again! I feel that I have no choice but to leave this system and start searching for a new hospital system that has more care for their patients. #yoursystemisbroken #fixitalready

My husband had very bad experience with Sylvester comprehensive center. He have N important appointment with them to do a CT, before to determine if he needs a surgery. He waited for 6 weeks for the test, one day before he called to make sure, he’s going to have the test done. They yes tomorrow you have 11 am appointment. Do eat after midnight. He took a Uber dropped him off, guess what they didn’t do the procedure. Oh we don’t accept your insurance, Since 6 weeks any of they workers can’t find out if they accept the insurance or not. They had the insurance on my file. This’s negligence, they don’t care for people’s life. By the time for me to look for other center to have done the CT. I got a big complication end up to ER by ambulance. Asked to see patient experience he doesn’t investigate why? Very bad place, worker’s don’t know what they are doing?no safety and they are neglected, every time I call waiting time 58 minutes. Or 1hr they keep transferring me no one know what to do. If you don’t need your life go to that place. It no good for nothing even my dog . I will not take my dog there because it a bad place do not go there. 1275 NW 14 street Miami Florida 33136 Sylvester .Comprehensive center? They cause I have a lot complications because they didn’t perform.

The nurses were very supportive and caring. They took excellent care of my mother and made sure that she (a non-native English speaker) understood the medical procedures, as well as every drug administered to her. Ruth, the oncology massage therapist, offered her services for free and did an excellent job of helping my mom relax, physically and mentally. We received a gift bag for the oncology patient, containing goodies such as lotion, a sleeping mask, non-slip socks, and a thermometer. The staff even took care of my father and me by making sure that we also understood the treatment and by offering us beverages, snacks, and sandwiches. The facility is clean and our experience was as pleasant as it could have been.

Beyond rude and unprofessional- they make it blatantly obvious that they don’t care about patients. I tried escalating the situation since it was handled so poorly and I called numerous times and was finally given somebody’s email. That person only reached out to me to ask me if I was emailing him from different accounts, and starts listing email addresses to me. Not only are they awful with patients, they don’t seem to respect privacy either.. by the way, the other emails weren’t even mine, but he did give me their full names and email addresses. First and last time we came here and I honestly regret it.

As a cancer patient, I am sure you are doing an amazing job. Congratulations to my Oncologist Dr. Elisa Krill-Jackson, and all the staff including of course the doctors team. As well as all personel since you arrive at 12Ave NW Miami, Both Laboratory locations, all very professionals, and treatment area where you realized you are in the best hands. Thank you very much. Keep up the good work

The interventional radiology department is a disaster. Twice they have made me waste full days of my life because of their ineptitude. All the nurses in the IR department were complaining about the hours they must work and how much they make. Complaining that the emergency nurses make more money than they do and work less hours. I left because I felt like I was not going to receive care from people who wanted to give care.I did not rate one star because the valet and security at the front are very nice and responsive.

Considering the various difficult reasons you find yourself here, this is an extremely pleasant experience. The staff, from the ground floor to your specific treatment area are fantastic. All the nurses seems to really care. It's always clean, and even though it can be crowded, it's easy to navigate. Valet Parking is required so be sure and ask your receptionist if they validate, most do.

I had a fantastic experience during my recent treatment through the CTU. They had massages, art, and a chorus that sang to patients. The staff was friendly. Much better experience than I had anywhere else. Thanks so much.

I had surgery to remove my ovarian cyst and right side ovary. It was my first surgery in my life. I had many concerns because I don't speak very well English as I am Japanese, and lots of medical systems and processes are different than my country, and also my husband is recovering from his major back surgery so I don't have anyone who couldassist me. But Dr Schlumbrecht made me and my husband feel everything gonna be all fine. And his stuffs at office are amazing especially Tania who is coordinating all my surgery process was extraordinary. She is very caring and she got my back, and she made me feel very safe. And the day of surgery August 15th that was yesterday. I was little nervous. But the nurse Mr Lunel Milien took all my worries away. What he does is not just "care", he does care from his true heart. I don't need ask anything because he does before I ask. I didn't need ask nurse call button because he's already prepared for everything I needed. He knows what I need and his hospitality was beyond service. When I was recovering from anesthesia, I was worrying if I could walk by myself or if I could have someone who can assist me to go down because my husband can't walk or physically assist me. He prepared wheelchair and with very gentle caring assistant lady for me. I wish all the nurses, I mean all the people in this world was like him. Can't thanks enough to him took such great care of me from the begging to all way till the end. And all Dr Schlumbrecht surgery teams are AWESOME!! WOW!! I had no time for being nervous. They stayed with me most of time, and they kept me smile and kept my heart warm. I felt like my surgery day came with Christmas and Thanksgiving all holiday together.I forgot to take my glasses off when they are moving me to surgery room, I asked one of team(sorry I couldn't see who without glasses), and I realized when I leave hospital after surgery that she put my glasses in my glasses case very nice and caring. Not enough space that I would love to write about how everyone cares for all details. They all made me feel like I am surrounded by my family who really care about me all the way to go on anesthesia. I was so happy to hear their voice when I woke up, and I knew I'm gonna be all better. It has been not easy life for me and my husband this few years because of my husband is mostly in bed because of his back. But that day, they even made me feel that everything gonna be alright. That was truly the moment that I saw great leader who gathers great team. My apologies I am not fluent in English. I can't find any words to express gratitude from me and my husband. Thank you so so much. We love you all.

Friday 8/19 I went to the Sylvester Center for a 4:15 mammogram appt. I am teacher in Opa Locka so I had to rush through traffic to make it on time. I get to the counter only to be told that my appt was scheduled for 8/12, which I missed, and was noted in the computer as a no show. When I told the receptionist that wasn't possible because I called to made the appt on 8/12 at 12:45 (1. What is the likelihood of receiving a same day appt & 2. I was told the appt was made for the following Friday) Needless to say I was hot and irritated. I was given the number to call the scheduling department, which I did and was placed on hold for 8 minutes. I asked the receptionist is there was any way she could get in contact with someone directly to avoid being placed on hold for an error on their part. She simply said sorry, I'd have to call and wait on hold. Nothing was done to correct their error. No call was made to see if there was any availability since I was already there. Nothing! I would understand if I was late to the appointment, but I actually arrived about 10 minutes early. I had to ask my doctor if she could find another location to perform my mammogram. Very disappointed in their lack of customer service and incompetency in scheduling.

Amazing Doctors and nurses but inhumane admin staff. Would not let me go in to see my grandmother on her dying day because of visitor number technicalities. Maybe you could make an exception for a patient who is dying? If they're dying I assure you it doesn't matter if they're exposed to more than 2 different people (they wouldnt even allow a visitor swap until I argued outside for 3 hours).

This rating is for the 3 step registration. First you call a number texted to you upon confirmation of appointment. Then enter a code. Three minutes later you're directed to the registration desk. Less than warm reception. Provide name and birth date. Then told to proceed to a kiosk to do the entire registration process on your own??? Would this even be considered if the majority of patients were men? SHAMEFUL.

My wife was a patient there. After having a surgery, she couldn’t get any help she asked for, she was thirsty and asked for water she had to wait forever to get it. Since they don’t allowed family members or friends to be with the patient, the staff don’t care about the patients. I’m still upset when I think about how my wife was mistreated.

I'm writing this review in complete shock and with a profound frustration as a daughter of a cancer patient who was in the need back in May, 2021 of calling Dr. Elaine Tolzman's office renown Rheumatologist at the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center to make an appointment for my sick mother. What a horrible experience, unprofessional, unkind, and unethical services does this UM Center provide to its patients. Today 3 months later I called to confirm the appointment for my sick and vulnerable mother because no one had the delicacy of calling my mother for her upcoming appointment tomorrow at 3;40pm and I find out her appointment had been cancelled internally back on May 24 on the basis on an incorrect decision without even reviewing my mother's medical records and NO ONE INFORMED my mother of such cancellation. She is anxiouly waiting and in pain due to her illness at home to be seen by Dr. Tolzman tomorrow and she does not know yet that someone else was put on her appointment slot! This is OUTRAGEOUS, ABUSIVE TO VULNERABLE PATIENTS IN NEED OF CARE, UNETHICAL, AND HARFUL TO A VULNERABLE CANCER PATIENT!!! UM is not what upscale medical center that claims to be, rather an unprofessional and impersonally cruel medical facility that manipulates its patients to its convenience without a care for their health. What a shame to the community and to the patients in need.

An astonishingly incompetent, ignorant, arrogant, and apathetic collection of toxic people. POTENTIAL EMPLOYEES BEWARE: the onboarding process features a group of absolutely clueless managers and supervisors who do not know their own policies, who refuse or neglect to communicate the slightest bit of important information, and who obviously could not care any less about you or their jobs. CUSTOMERS BEWARE: the staggering level of incompetence and the unparalleled condescension that occurs behind the scenes MUST affect the service offered. I am absolutely shocked by how poorly this institution functions. You’d be better off seeking treatment or employment at a Burger King.

So far, the best experience i had with doctors, nurses, technicians, and surgeons. Dr. Kyle Yikuan Xu and Dr. Brook M. Crawford are the best!! One referred me to the other and i had a big lipoma removed in no time, the recovery it's been amazing and i didn't have to take pain killers or any meds only Tylenol 500mg for pain. God bless all those surgeons who make ppls lives easier every day!! I have been coming to UM for more than 10 years now for lupus treatments, and it has always been a good experience with all specialists, including Dr. Eric L. Greidinger and Dr. Culpeper.

Dr. Brooke Crawford saved my life when no other surgeon would...she and her team are amazing. Kind compassionate and caring are sadly hard to find in healthcare. This wonderful groups of medical professionals gave me life again. I was in excruciating pain with a large tumor in a rare location. When she told me that she could remove it I began to have hope again... something I had not had for the past 4-6 months...I am eternally grateful.
