My family and I came for a dirty dancing weekend and LOVED every minute! The property is beautiful, our room at Chestnut Lodge was cozy and clean, the whole atmosphere of the place was wonderful. We had fun at the dances, the dance instructors were great! We learned different styles and got to use them at the dances. All of the events they had planned for the weekend were fun. Each meal was buffet style and delicious! There were plenty of options of food each day. We loved seeing all of the different locations the movie was filmed and taking pictures. The gift shops had lots of fun things to buy. Although there is no AC, we had a fan in our window and it felt great in our room!! It was nicer than new hotels Iโ€™ve stayed in. This is one of our new favorite places and we canโ€™t wait to come back! We had the time of our lives! :)

The area is beautiful. The salty pond walk up pub was the best place to eat on site. Other than that the rooms are very dated, sadly the lake is completely dried up, experience at The Harvest Restaurant was very disappointing. Food was highly over priced vs. quality. The service matched the quality of the food as well. I highly recommend going down the road to The Bad Apple to eat for a much better dining experience. The gift shop is selling Wal-Mart quality garments for a Macy prices. Condition of the cabins is old and in need of repairs. Every time the people above walked around it sounded like they were going to come through our roof at any moment. We were excited for this long weekend getaway but sadly became slowly disappointed with our stay. Hopefully ownership and management can invest into the upkeep and upgrades of the grounds to bring a better experience for their customers. We would like to again someday with hopes of a better experience and value. Michael kollander

Even with it being cold and rainy/icy my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed a nice weekend getaway staying in the Chestnut Lodge. The staff was all helpful and friendly, many trails and walkways to explore, Harvest restaurant was great, and just a beautiful area in general.

Absolutely incredible! We stayed here on Wednesday night and it was breathtaking from the drive up through the golden leaved forest until the moment we left. Staff were wonderful at the desk and the service from the young girl in the restaurant was fantastic. We traveled all the way from Scotland ๐Ÿด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ณ๓ ฃ๓ ด๓ ฟ and drove 7 hours from Atlanta just to get there and it was worth every minute. My wife is the Dirty Dancing fan but even I was blown away by the place. A memory that will last a lifetime. We definitely did have the time of our life. Thank you Mountain Lake Lodge! It was everything we dreamed it would be and more ๐Ÿ™

It's becoming more and more difficult to justify the high rates to stay in the future. I've stayed 5 or 6 times, around Thanksgiving every year. I come here for the atmosphere, history, and nostalgia -- 'having the time of my life' -- it's a wonderful trip away from the DC metro. Sadly, the Thanksgiving policy (must visit the Wednesday thru Sunday entirely) has me coming earlier instead of looking forward to a holiday in the mountains. I was excited to experience the recent add-on, thinking it was a floor to ceiling window view, but only to find out it's a double-decked outdoor seating that can't be enjoyed year round. I think increasing the electrical grid to accommodate mini-fridges in each room should be considered in the future. The food is adequate but not deserving of the high prices that you would see in the city. The trio of musicians has been a nice add while you're dining. When I first started to visit, there were scheduled events (again, for Thanksgiving, so that my be the reason) but I have found not much is planned in recent years. I'd rather stay on the mountain and participate in activities because driving that road in the dark is not fun.

Our experience, Son and I, was nothing but the best. Everyone was soo nice, accommodating and fun. Smiles on employees faces at all times. The food, surroundings and service were non but the best. Listening to the Dirty Dancing music and all the highlights pointed out were just magical. The view driving up the mountain was incredible. Thanks to all for this fabulous experience and memory. We had the time of our lives !!

First time visit. The rooms are pretty dated. We stayed in the Richmond lodge and there was only two pillows for the bed. The bathrooms smelled moldy. They really need to repaint and maybe not put wood floors in bathroom something water proof. Technically off season and they were pretty busy this weekend. The bartenders were great and the waitress at harvest. The food was good just pricey. You could tell they were understaffed. Itโ€™s beautiful area but the actual resort there wasnโ€™t much to do here in the fall. We did some hiking at cascades falls which was beautiful and luckily downtown Blacksburg isnโ€™t that far. I think itโ€™s cool experience but wouldnโ€™t come back.

Our group of 7 came for the Dirty Dancing themed weekend and had a BLAST! A huge shout-out to Dennis, one of the professional dancers who exudes joy and is the best instructor! My sister and I loved every moment of the dancing lessons. All staff went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and enjoyed ourselves. The resort had a fun adventure center and many beautiful hiking trails. Highly recommend this resort and this themed weekend.

Sales and Catering were absolutely amazing. The staff was on point. Everyone made our event special and enjoyable. Maintenance went over and beyond and started my fireplace for me. Definitely 5 ๐ŸŒŸ resort.

I love the movie, Dirty Dancing. So when I found out that this was near where I was staying, I had to visit! If I had known about this place before I booked my room somewhere else, I wouldโ€™ve stayed here (looks like Iโ€™ll be returning ๐Ÿ˜ƒ). The facility is absolutely gorgeous. It was so awesome to see where the movie was filmed!

The rooms are clean and the beds are comfy. Remember they are from the 30's so they are on the smaller side. This is where the movie Dirty Dancing was mostly filmed at so looks of fun if you live that movie Also the resort has lots of hiking trails and things to do. We enjoyed the bald knob trail with a scenic view. Dinner in the Harvest room is expensive, small portions but what you get is very good. I would definitely return.

We had the most spectacular 5-day experience at Mountain Lakes Resort for my granddaughter's destination wedding. We stayed in the Roanoke rustic cabin and it was quite quaint and sufficient for our needs. The acreage is beautiful around the lodge and the activities in the lodge, Mary's Barn, and the Harvest restaurant were so very enjoyable. The beauty of the location would be hard to beat. Since we were there at the end of their regular season, it was obvious that there were staff shortages making some things a little challenging. However the staff that were working were more than accommodating in trying to maintain the Mountain Lake standards. It was just a relaxing, quiet, location -- when we weren't revving up for wedding activities!

Such a beautiful destination! We drove up as I had stayed there as a child and wanted to introduce my kids to a cool place. Unfortunately, they were booked so we couldn't stay and the lake is currently dry, an interesting cyclic event. I'll definitely return to stay!

Service was great, Gabriel was a great bartender and server. Tucker was very hospitable and provided great information. Food was very good from the fried green tomatoes, artichoke dip, blackened grouper and crispy french fries. Great place to visit, has great walking areas and scenery. Many 'Dirty Dancing', trivia and sites!

We really enjoyed our stay at Mtn Lake Lodge. We only stayed for two nights on our way through Virginia, but the food was great, the service was excellent, the room was clean and comfortable, and the property is beautiful. We thought the prices were fair too considering there are no other meal options nearby. The lake bed is empty, but lots of hiking nearby, including Cascade. Theyโ€™re still making improvements, so hopefully a hotel fitness center is in the pipeline (hint to management). I imagine this place is even better in the summer!
