The past reviews are all over the place and after staying here Sunday- Wednesday here is the scoop. (Ps use to live in Philly for context) 1. It’s in center city PHILLY. Either you understand that or you don’t. Bars, restaurants, lights, and noise is apart of everyday/every-hour life. The city is urban in every way. If you don’t want an urban setting for all it’s good and bad then don’t stay in Philadelphia. You can stay in the suburbs or Jersey. But besides that you can also request an interior room to reduce noise from the street. I personally had no issues. 2. It’s an apartment not a full service hotel. It was clean, comfortable, and worked well for me working remote. Again understand what you signed up for up for. I rock with it 3. Convenient- location is easy to get to using metro or just walking. If you come to enjoy the city and have a place to chill then it’s a go. No car needed. 4. Safety- no concerns here. It’s on a small one way street and in a prime center city location. Again it’s an urban environment so no you can’t just be blind to your surroundings but definitely not a bad area of the city. Those people who commented on safety should not be staying in the city if that is the case. Long story short… if you actually like Philly and want a clean place to put your stuff and sleep/ work if remote then this is a go. I’ll be staying here again.

I recently had the unfortunate experience of staying at Sonder The Witherspoon in Philadelphia, PA, and I must say it was an absolute disappointment from start to finish. This was my first time choosing Sonder, and I can assure you it will be my last. First and foremost, the location of this hotel is in a sketchy part of downtown Philadelphia. Walking around the area at night made me feel incredibly unsafe. It's not the kind of environment you want to find yourself in when you're traveling and trying to relax. Safety should always be a top priority for any hotel, and Sonder The Witherspoon failed miserably in this regard. Moving on to the room itself, it was a sorry sight. The state of disrepair and lack of upkeep was evident from the moment I walked in. The broken coffee table in the room was just the tip of the iceberg. The carpets were so filthy that I felt uneasy walking on them barefoot. It's clear that the cleanliness and maintenance of the rooms are severely lacking. However, the most infuriating part of my stay was the incident involving a valuable item I accidentally left in the room. I immediately contacted the hotel within two hours of my departure, hoping they would be able to locate and return it to me. Instead, I was met with a complete runaround. The staff insisted they hadn't found anything. When I asked to escalate the matter, I received a similar response from a manager two days later. It's painfully obvious that my item was likely stolen, but there was no acknowledgment of this by the hotel. To make matters worse, I was offered no assistance in replacing the stolen item, nor was I offered any sort of credit for my troubles. This level of indifference and lack of responsibility from the hotel is unacceptable and demonstrates a complete lack of integrity. In conclusion, my stay at Sonder The Witherspoon was a horrible mistake. From the sketchy location to the poorly maintained room and the utter disregard for my lost item, this experience was a disaster. I would strongly advise anyone considering staying at this hotel to think twice and explore other options. I will not stay with Sonder again, and I encourage others to do the same.

The building that this hotel is in is very nice. The front desk staff are all very nice. The room could use a dresser and a taller bed. The sheets would not stay on the mattress. The kitchen are is very nice and well stocked. The bathroom was very nice as well. The hotel is close to many of the historic sites because it's in the center of the city. The street itself is a bit run down with lots of homeless people sleeping on the sidewalk.

It's fine if you know what to expect. Probably won't use again, but it'll do in a pinch. It's a place to sleep. Pros: 1. Downtown location, many things are within walking distance. 2. Lodging is fine, comes with fridge oven/stove etc. 3. Provides earplugs/white noise machine to combat noise (see below). 4. The *room price* (see below) is reasonable. Cons: 1. Lax security. No one in the lobby overnight. Front doors are locked by code but people routinely let folks in off the street assuming they're also staying there. 2. Rude front desk staff, rolled their eyes when trying to check in and replied "well did ya download the app??". I had. 3. Not a very safe part of town and the entry is in an alleyway. Recommend traveling in a group. Only yelled at by a crazy guy once, but it's downtown Philadelphia. 4. Loud nights, even on a Monday/Tuesday. Expect to hear shouting/hollering, honking, and nearby clubs/bars very clearly. Use the earplugs or bring your own. It was manageable, not terrible. 5. Surprise $150 cleaning fee for a two-night stay. Whatever you buy a room for, know it's going to be with an extra 10-20% on top for standard taxes/fees and another at least $150 on top of that that will be charged after you leave.

I was very impressed with the room. It was very modern and clean with all the amenities including an oven. Their chat support is extremely responsive. I was able to get all my answers quickly. The location was fantastic. I believe it was three blocks south of the courthouse right in the center of downtown.

Great time staying at Sonder the Witherspoon. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. The location is great but is close to some sketchy areas. That being said most of Philly is like that. The rooms are very nice but some minor gripes. The couch doubles as a sleep area and is great for that. It's just too deep to comfortably sit in as a couch and I'm well over 6 foot tall. The beds are very soft and low to the ground. Still comfortable but something to keep in mind. Will definitely stay here again.

Great stay at a very central location! The 1br was very spacious and modern. Would recommend! Two pieces of feedback: 1) the building should have better security and tell guests that they should not allow other guests or visitors to tailgate into the building; 2) room still has smells of paint, so would suggest deodorizing for a more comfortable stay.

Great Value. We were in Philly for parent's weekend, and since it was a holiday weekend, area hotels really jacked up the prices. I couldn't believe that a 1 bedroom apartment was 1/2 the price of a hotel room that was just enough room for the bed. (we had stayed in the hotel on our previous visit). Room was a gorgeous loft, fabulous kitchen and even had washer/dryer, which our college student really appreciated. Everything is by access code, so no pesky cards or keys to carry around. The area was centrally located to the university, just a few blocks from the dorm, so very convenient.

Great location- walking distance to great food and sites within the city. Room as described, clean and comfortable. The temperature of the room was easy to adjust as needed, the appliances were a great addition to make food and to clean our clothes before we headed back home. The great location also comes with some outside noise as this is in the heart of the city but white noise machine is provided as well as ear plugs should you need them. Staff were great and we will definitely be back.

Absolutely fantastic stay. Beautiful and quiet studio in the heart of Philly, with every convenience including full kitchen and washer/dryer. This is a no service facility so my 5 stars there relate to how well the room was prepared. The code entrance to the building and room worked great. My studio 1117 was pristine and clean and had everything one needs for a truly comfortable and delightful stay. 2 blocks from city call so location was perfect. Fantastic value for money. I cannot praise the Sonder highly enough and look forward to staying here every time I come to Philly. It was a Ritz experience at Holiday Inn prices.
