A well preserved and beautifully refurbished historical site. Having a banquet or wedding here would be one of the most unforgettable experiences in anyone’s life.

I enjoyed the tour of the Powel House. The docent giving the tour gave an interesting tour of the house and the Powel and Willing families.

Historic, beautifully preserved mansion in Society Hill built in 1765. It was home to Elizabeth and Mayor Samuel Powel, who hobnobbed with our nation's founders. I visited for a fundraising event, and the garden area was decorated with white lights for the occasion. It would be perfect for an intimate wedding or party. Most of the rooms are open and restored, plus a knowledgeable guide was provided to offer tours.

It’s a beautiful house and I’m glad it’s preserved. The lady who gave us a tour was really knowledgeable and nice. However, there is some history to this house that is skimmed over. She kept referring to the house staff as “servants” and based on the little doll house on the 3rd floor, they were slaves. It’s kinda sad to see the lives of the slaves that lived here and served the presidents erased. The only research I can find on this topic is from an undergrad at VU. The Philadelphia Preservation Society needs to look into this matter and acknowledge it in the museum.

Tremendous history at Powell house. We had a brunch event for my friend's wedding here. Great decoration! She had games including: jenga, croquet, and others. Brunch with unlimited mimosas it was very lovely!

Historic homes such as Powel come to life with the docents who are versed in their history. Steve is one of those knowledgeable people who shred the importance of the home to the fabric of Philadelphia in the late 18th century. And shout out to Elizabeth Powel who was a confidant of George Washington. Women rock

I absolutely fell in the love with the Powel House when I first saw it. It is a gorgeous historical home in Society Hill, Philadelphia that is filled with a such a rich history. We chose to have our small intimate wedding there and were blown away by how accommodating the staff was and how beautifully the house was transformed for the reception. I would highly recommend for a tour or even more so if you're looking to host a wedding or other event. Thank you Jennifer for everything!

We held a retirement party for a colleague -- an American-history buff -- at Powel House at the end of June 2018. First of all, working with Meagan, site manager of Powel House, was a pleasure. She is a pro, and her advice was very helpful. She is also just plain nice to deal with. Second, everyone loved Powel House itself. We were all impressed with its historical significance, beauty, and elegance. To walk on the same floor (and floorboards!) as George Washington, John Adams, and others, was amazing! Thanks to decent weather, we were able to use the beautiful garden, too. I'd host another event at Powel in a heartbeat. Thanks, Meagan!

WOW! I went here for an event but this place is worth just a visit. Beautifully restored. George Washinton, Ben Franklin were all frequent guests back in the day and you know this was definitely the party place to be in the late 18th century. The Washingtons celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary at the home. Make sure you see the china Martha Washington gifted to Mrs. Powell.

Powel House is one of my favorite venues because it has everything you need: an amazing venue, great food and drinks options, and incredible service! 💖 Powel House is a lovely💐 historic home in Society Hill, Philadelphia. The comfortable, personal setting and the nursery turns out impeccably for functions. I need to say that everybody from the Philadelphia Society of Landmarks that we worked with was perfect. You ought to set a meeting with the caretaker so she can have an individual visit with you. But if you don't want to wait, walk-ins are welcome as well. 🤗

We recently had our wedding at the Powel House, and I couldn't recommend it more. The house and garden are beautiful, and all of our guests loved the location. Everyone from the Philadelphia Society of Landmarks that we worked with were great (especially Meagan). They were super easy to get in touch with, and worked great with all the vendors we selected.

My wife and I had our wedding ceremony at the Powel House and it was nothing short of magical. Guests loved the cozy, intimate setting and the garden worked perfectly for our ceremony. Meagan was helpful, friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. We would definitely recommend this venue to our friends. Meagan was flexible in making our vision come true and we are so happy with the result!

We held our wedding reception at the Powel House last August. The dinner took place in the garden and the setting was absolutely gorgeous. Many of our Philly-based guests didn't know about the house and were excited to learn about it's historical significance. Renting the space itself is inexpensive but there is a hidden cost in that you have to rent the tables and a tent, and you must use their approved caterers. That said, we felt it was worth it. Thanks so much to Meagan and the rest of the staff for making it such a smooth event.
