The restaurant itself has a great vibe to it. The table we were placed at was magnificent. The food was pretty good. I had ordered the vegan sharing board. The one thing that stood out for me was the super green hummus. It was possibly the best hummus I have ever had. In terms of drinks, I ordered an espresso martini which I was disappointed in. The flavour was weak and the drink was foamy. Overall, I would go back again. The staff were extremely friendly

A venue with so much potential but during our visit was let down by it's food. Would happily have a drink in here in the future but feel if your looking for a really good meal and to spend £20-30 per head on food I'd strongly advise there are a plethora of amazing choices in the City including the street food venues on the docks 2 mins away. Staff were friendly and the manager sorted out the few issues we had with the food. Theme of the bar is cool and it's in a lovely location.

Great food really nice staff. The place was really busy and I recommend you book in advance as they were turning people away, we sat at the bar is it was full. Decor had a nice pirate touch and the atmosphere was really good. The hanging kebab are fantastic with the dripping oils really adding to the flavours.

Great restaurant in a fantastic location in the Royal Albert Dock. Perfect setting excellent service and the food was excellent and reasonably priced. I had the Scouse which was really good and tasty. I would definitely recommend.

What a quirky place with great rum based cocktails. The food was lovely, its not cheap for a drink mind. The lady looking after our table was engaging, helpful and had great recommendations for the cocktails. Only criticism was there a lingering smell of sick round our table.

I went there for the first time on Friday 6th Aug 2021, after reading reviews and recommendations. Guess what? It turned out positive reviews are right, and I didn't regret visiting this place. 1) Very friendly staff - all of them! I felt welcomed. 2) I like a pub with a cosy vintage-like interior and design. This place is for me. 3) They do have some rare types of beer which I like. 4) It's located at Albert Dock if you love to hang around there. I'll visit again once I'm in Liverpool.

Great service and cocktails. Quirky swashbuckling decor (but not over the top!) Try the Tommy’s Mezcalita, a gorgeous rum & tequila cocktail…

Really great food, lovely atmosphere and good service! Definitely recommend the fish and chips, tasted fresh, delicious chips and some of best mushy peas I’ve ever ate.

Lovely place for food and drink, staff very helpful and friendly. The decor was unusual and in keeping with the theme.."not tacky" My 6 year old grandson loved it. Access easy from the dock side for people like me who are slightly disabled. Would visit again on our next trip..

To start with, the highs. The decor is amazing. Both cosy and atmospheric. The bar area at the back is a little darker but has a much nicer ambience. The staff were great, shout out to the woman behind the bar who was both friendly, informative and helpful. The lows weren't great, but that's also how I'd describe the food. It was good, but only good. Its a good place to stop by if you're on the docks already an the prices weren't bad, but I wouldn't go out of my way to go there. Four out of five seems fair. Wouldn't specifically recommend, but definitely wouldn't warn you off.

Came as a big table with my family, the food was really good and a good range of cocktails and rum to choose from. There was some live music being played near the bar which was a nice touch. Would recommend!

Visited the weekend as part of my Sister In Laws Hen Night. Really cozy pub/resturant which is very aesthetically pleasing to the eye. Good range of cocktails - they also provide cocktail classes to those that may be interested. Staff were friendly and served well. Absolutely adored the way the tea was presented 🥰. Also The Smugglers Mojito is excellent. Would return

You know I'm going to be fair with my description because the surroundings are good the food was nice a few issues with my order which resulted in people eating at different times so that did let it down but they did correct the issue. Staff I would say a little hit and miss some are on it and are doing a great job others are just there and it's a shame as they do let down the service for this restaurant. Disappointed that dispite pre ordering drinks this was not ready when we arrived as stated on the website a further 15mins to receive and then get the wrong drinks was a a let down the food was nice unfortunately a dish was cold and had to be sent back which ment the rest of my party had finished before my new meal arrived and then it arrived with items missing had to ask 2 staff altogether to sort which took a bit too long TBH, when the bill arrived was charged again for the drinks preordered and paid for which again took sometime to be sorted. The lady sorting this did explain and sort the issue so again it was sorted but by then I had my share of mishaps. It has do much potential to be great just my experience was hindered by the difficulties we faced.

It was quite busy when we (a group of 4 adults) came in but we were offered a table straight away and given a waiting time for food. There is a nice mix of traditional and unusual dishes - burgers, steaks, fish and chips, Scouse, sweet potato pie, and more. The drinks selection is also good with various wines, beers, cocktails, and a good chiice of different soft drinks. We perused the menu for about 10 minutes before someone came to take our order. Drinks came out after a few minutes (they forgot one but this was rectified once we let them know). We waited about 40 minutes for food (they'd given a wait time of 30 minuted amd were visibly busy so that wasn't too bad). The food was all really nice. I had the coconut and sweet potato pie, which was really flavourful and just the right amount of sweet and spicy. The portions were good, too. The food is on the expensive side compared to other similar venues - around £80 for 4 meals and drinks - but justified by the portion size and quality. It was a little dark inside the venue, and not very spacious. Other than that, it was a nice place with good service and lovely food.

Nice busy little atmosphere. Food was tasty and I loved the concept of how it came in the wooden barrels. Service was quick and we were always being checked up on. The only issue was my partner asked for a plain burger but received hot sauce on it so he didn’t really enjoy it. The layout of the sharing cookie dough was really cute!

Went for a swift half and was not disappointed. Friendly bar team and decent lager. No bitter when I was there though, had run out. Atmosphere is good with music that sets the tone well. Hilarious name as it's hard to imagine bootleggers sneaking into the Albert Dock with their contraband and dropping it off in this place, but I'll forgive the name. Worth a visit.

Buzzing atmosphere, super friendly staff, very accommodating and good food. My family and I went to celebrate a birthday in the family, staff were very pleasant to interact with and the food was served promptly despite a large group of us. Atmosphere was upbeat with a live band playing right in front of us. People were dancing and singing along too whilst enjoying their meals/drinks. Food was good but portion sizes were rather small when getting a signature hanging kebab so I would recommend getting a starter too if choosing any of the kebabs as your main. Ribeye steak was cooked beautifully and the katsu curry was said to be very tasty also. Cookie dough desert was lovely too. Overall price is moderate to high and be prepared to spend 20+ pounds per person for a full meal however would still recommend as had a wonderful time.

Great experience here today. Service was spot on from all staff, the guy who served me knew his rums and gave me some great suggestions. We had burgers that’s tasted amazing with a large serving of chips that also tasted great. Also ordered cocktails that were nice, strong and well presented. I pre booked and was running 20 min late so called to advise and they were great sorting it out. Will be back here again.

Great place to go for a meal! We got some spicy sausage rolls for a starter which were so so good. For a main I got BBQ Chinese Pork which was amazing, it was very tender and the sauce was really good. The chips may actually be one of the best I’ve ever had. For dessert we both had the hanging kebab and it was amazing, quite sweet though. I liked that there were a lot of different things to try on it. One of the best desserts I’ve seen and tried. I had the lady killer cocktail which was really good, very refreshing. The overall experience was great and it was decorated really well. Lydia was a really friendly waitress and the food came out really quickly.

I was recommended this place due to my love of food and rum. This is my first ever visit to Liverpool. Booked in advance due to Covid. Arrived early and was met by staff and shown to my table. Chris served us and what a top bloke. I literally told him to pick everything for me and he did. We had amazing starters, hanging kebabs and rum cocktails as well as some more special rums on the rocks. Chris proper looked after us, my glass was never empty and he even had time for friendly chat in a packed restaurant. A great start to my trip and thoroughly loved my visit. Thank you

  • 5/5 Chris C. 3 years ago on Google
We only stopped by for a drink and ended up having a couple of rum based cocktails. Friendly and helpful staff and a great pirate themed atmosphere. We didn't eat there but the food did look good, so if we ever get back there I wouldn't mind trying the hanging kebabs. Recommended if you're on Albert Dock.

We have had a wonderful time. The staff are lovely, the food is incredible. I had the cheese burger with added smokey bacon, seasoned fries and washed it down with a smugglers mojito. The burger was to die for and the mojito was a taste of Cuban paradise. All the food came out hot which is a big thumbs up too. Plenty of choice on the menu even during the pandemic. Can't wait to go back. Probably for a date night next..

Excellent! One of the best restaurant I have never tried! The chicken is amazing, tasty, tender and spicy at the right point. I tried the ^dirty fries^ and were a perfect mix of sauce, cheese and spices. The restaurant is like a little cute farm, with wood tables, a structure of a chicken coop and a modern bar. Highly recommended! We will sure come back again! * Booking is recommended*

Really disappointing experience at Yard and Coop tonight in relation to service and COVID safety precautions. Firstly we arrived for the table and informed that we had only an hour only to have the table. Wish we'd have been told this when we booked or we wouldn't have bothered. Appreciate eat out to help out scheme was on however 1 hour to order your food and eat with your friends is not enougb time. May as well gone to mcdonalds and would have felt safer. No organisation of managing people coming into the restaurant so at one point the queues were up the stairs, with at least 8 tables waiting to be seated, no management of distancing. We were told the wrong table number, given the wrong password for the wifi, and the wrong code for the eat out discount. This overall took us 30 minutes to sort, and the order confirmed that the food would take 45 minutes. So how we would be out within 1 hour i do not know. The app itself asked for us to "buy the staff a drink" and i completely understand the working conditions etc. However the service was awful. One waitress complained to us that we'd ordered our drinks to the wrong table and she had been looking for us for 15 minutes. Drinks weren't even served on a tray - she had all 4 close to her chest. All throughout we were asked if we had ordered a drink and we hadn't so clearly others had been given incorrect tables numbers as well. Then our food arrived at separate times and not as we'd ordered as our chips were plain despite ordering salt and pepper chips, then served additional s&p chips separate. Not given any salt, pepper, vinegar or could ask any questions about the menu. It would be better if we were given correct information and told about the 1 hour booking beforehand. We did arrive late due to the amount of traffic which was our fault but regardless of being ontime or late, we would not expect to be finished in an hour at a restaurant. There needs to be a better coordination of guests entering and waiting for tables, as this made an anxious experience as heaps of people waited and queued by our table, so not very reassuring as for safety measures. Really disappointing and it's a shame as I would not go again.

This was a little nugget of perfection which we found randomly whilst waiting for a table to become free at Nandos. Over an hour and a half wait! We found the yard and coop and decided to try it. Would choose over nandos every time. Chicken cooked to perfection, social distancing needs met really well and the service was spot on. Would definately recommend.

We've had the simple chicken burger and fries and loved it, the chicken breast piece very tasty and big.even th bun was nice too. Id Recommend. I think its a bit overpriced coz the same u can get in with 70% off in fast food in Chickster but the taste was better.

The place is really cool and the food is lovely, however, the quiz nights need more security: so many people cheat on them. Perhaps all phones for each table going in a box. (E.g, box for table number 8, separate box for table number 9, etc.) Overall, this place is creative and friendly

Very clean and unique restaurant in the heart of Liverpool. 5 of us seated in a booth and the service was great. A veriety of meals ordered and they came out quite quickly. I had the Chicken Breast with Korean sauce with dirty fries and a side order of "not chicken nuggets", essentially Halloumi chunks with a choice of sauce. We will be going again and they do a range of discounts for certain job roles in the community 😁 Recent visit for 15 of us and still did not disappoint. This time the Dirty Katsu Fries and Monkey Balls were fantastic.

Went here for a lunch and catch up with some friends from Liverpool. Absolutely best chicken burger I’ve had for ages! There was a table of 5 - and everyone of us loved our meals. We had two hanging kebabs, one lamb and one vegetarian which were both highly praised. The Scouse meal was deemed to be worthy of the name (from the Liverpudlian friend) and the children’s meal of curly sausage and mash was greeted by our 6 year old as beautiful! I’m heading back in a month - will definitely be popping in again!

After a bad experience the night before this was an absolute pleasure. Welcoming venue, friendly staff, very helpful staff, delicious food, great service. Not a bad world to say, all 6 of us highly recommend and would absolutely go again! If you're going to go anywhere for dinner I would highly recommend!! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Great meal in a fun environment. Enjoyed the Scouse, nothing like a Scouse id had before, was reliably informed that no two Scouses are the same!

Went to smugglers cove. Lovely bar, great selection of rums and rum based cocktails. Highly recommended the sweet chilli fries with extra sweet chilli sauce. Great views of the dock.Enjoyed ourselves so much we totally forgot to take a picture. Bar on ground floor, toilets on 1st floor. Parking nearby, train station around a mile away.

Portion size was huge! Quirky pirate themed venue. Fish and chips served in a barrel bowl, huge portion and tasted great. Service was pretty good and speedy. Overall a great restaurant around Albert Docks.

Great atmosphere, has a nice buzz but not rowdy, the pirate/sailing theme is just the right amount of quirky, the cocktails are fantastic and the staff are lovely! Shout out to Harriet who helped me put together a perfect dark and stormy and was just great to chat to. Will definitely come again next time I'm in Liverpool!

Six of us visited The Smugglers Cove at the end of January for my son's 11th Birthday. My son is autistic and we brought along his friend who is also autistic. All the staff were absolutely amazing, they really did go above and beyond. My son's friend is sensitive to loud noises so they turned the speaker down that was close to him, my son didn't end up eating the meal we ordered for him (he is non-verbal so it's difficult to ascertain what he wants) but as he started eating my daughter’s curly Cumberland sausage, we asked if he could have this, but not the full meal as he wasn’t bothered about the sides. The manager overheard us and reassured us this would be absolutely fine and our lovely waitress brought just the sausage out in no time. They let us provide our own birthday cake and brought it out with candles on, singing Happy Birthday. All the way through our time there the staff were checking everything was okay for us, that the boys especially were okay and were extremely attentive. All of our meals were delicious and it has a great atmosphere in there. Thanks guys, we all had a wonderful time celebrating my son’s birthday and we’ll definitely be back soon.

This restaurant is a must visit if you're planning a trip to Liverpool. The view is magnificent if you're seated near the entrance, which are usually reserved for booking guests. The food is incredible! Which is to be expected considering its on the pricier side. A MUST order imho is the melted camembert, it's 2 serving but it's so filling so maybe another main or large side accompaniment would suffice. On top of that, the employees are extremely professional and friendly, and the workplace is inclusive!

Had a wonderful meal at the smugglers cove . Onion petals for starters . Southern fried chicken burger with sweet chilli fries and a lamb kofta hanging kebab with fries . Two cocktails too . Food was delicious , drinks very nice and the staff very friendly .

Fantastic venue. The food is great and the service is sublime. We had a slight issue with our order but the way it was dealt with was unbelievable. 100% will return

I have visited the Smugglers cove twice now (both times for a roast dinner) and both times they have smashed it out of the park, the presentation and the portion sizes are spot on - and best of all they are not stingy with the roast potatoes! On the second occasion the veggies were not honey glazed like the first time and the chicken was a tad on the dry side, but nothing a bit of gravy cant solve. However, my partner and I left feeling a little irritated when we were here on Sunday as we asked for the 3 course menu and had calamari (one of the best I have ever tried) and a chicken roast, once we had finished the chicken roast we were told we had to leave as we had been there 1.5 hours and would not be able to have our dessert! I understand how busy they must be on a Sunday as their roast is so good, however it seems a bit rushed to expect you to eat a three course meal in 1.5 hours and actually enjoy it! Granted we were not keeping track of time and just enjoying the food and views, with some cocktails too, but at the end we had to down our cocktails, pay the bill and leave all within about 5 minutes! And did not get dessert :(. I will be back as the food and service is of a high standard but this 1.5 hour rule seems very daft!

So I've been here a few times now and can definitely say the service has been consistently good every time I've been here. The food is good but felt it's slightly gone downhill for me and feel that the meat dishes have been quite fatty and the steak pie which I'd have once said was great didn't seem as good last time I went and the filling was nowhere near as nice (I don't know if there's been a recipe change or something??). The cocktails here are very hit and miss, more times than not the cocktails have been good but other times it seems like majority of your drink is 90% ice and 10% cocktail.

Cannot recommend the hanging Kebabs enough, so tasty. I also liked hot chicken wings, but be careful they are really hot 🔥. The staff was super friendly although it was crowded they helped us getting a table and the service was pretty fast. The location is beautiful just overseeing the docks right at the water. We had a great experience, definitely recommend everyone to go there, we will for sure when we will back again in Liverpool ✌️

Wow, what a brilliant restaurant, we had great service, food and a wonderful atmosphere, you need to see it for yourself. We had booked which i advise as people were getting turned away. When we had our meal we left our table and went towards the back and watched the live music. I definitely recommend a visit if you like a quirky restaurant.

We came across this quirky pub by chance while walking round the Albert Docks, Smugglers Cove sure lives up to its name with its fab pirate themed decor. We opted for outdoor seating so we could enjoy the Docks. Service was good, staff were polite. Unfortunately food didn't quite live up to expectations, small portions for the price, at £22.50 you're definitely paying for the location in the price. I would go again but only for cocktails. Soft drinks were also on the expensive side at £3.95 for a shot of cordial & soda water

Was a little late, so the kitchen closed but had a couple of drinks. The atmosphere was good, and the variety of beverages was great. I highly recommend this place

Very beautiful pub, with cozy interior design. However the drinks/beer was more on the pricey side. We just had one beer and the left. But still a beautiful place.

Seated immediately, staff super friendly and helpful. Place had a great look and feel to it. The music choice could be better and more in theme with the restaurant. About 12min to receive a drink after I had ordered not bad considering they had a huge party in. Drink I ordered was tasty. Food arrived in apox 15 from ordering, ordered a prawn cocktail starter and salt and pepper pork belly main. The starter was accidently left off the order, was told it would be comped very nice of them. The main was okay personally I think the pork was slightly over cooked and lacking in seasoning and the chips where slightly under cooked lacking that crispness I love with chips. The starter prawn cocktail, the salad was cucumber, lettuce, tomato with a wedge of lemon. Half a slice of toasted bread and a pot of cocktail sauce and 5 large prawns. The prawns where lovely but the salad was rather sad looking a bit brown on the lettuce. Overall nice experience.

Had a fantastic time at the smugglers cove. This was booked for my (special ) birthday. Whilst we looked over the menu a complimentary bottle of prosecco was brought to our table, what a lovely gesture and was very much appreciated. The food was tasty and wasn't over priced. We were lucky enough to have a super guitarist playing who added to the occasion, he even sang happy birthday for me, so a big thank you to him, unfortunately I didn't catch his name. A fantastic night was had by all, attentive staff, great atmosphere, we will definitely be back at the smugglers next time we're back in Liverpool

The food and service was very disappointing here and I wouldn't recommend Smugglers Cove based on my experience. The service was so slow and it took us over 2.5hrs from when we arrived to leaving and we all only had 2 courses and 2 drinks. Getting seated on long benches when my parents are nearly 80 wasn't comfortable for my parents and they wouldn't move us to a table with high backed chairs, even though they could have done so. It took about 30 minutes before our first drinks were received which added to the early frustrations. A couple of mistakes were made with the food orders for a family of 8. Not good enough. I had the pea soup with bread. The bread was already in the soup and it was so small, it was literally two mouthfuls. The soup itself was OK, but there wasn't much of it. At £6.95 (£7.65 with service charge) it wasn't good value. For my main I had fish, chips and peas. The fish and chips were both deep fried and overcooked. The peas were on a tiny round 'bowl' about 1.5 inches in diameter that were gone in 3 mouthfuls. The large bowl the meal was served in was impractical. At £16.50 (£18.15 with service charge) I wouldn't say it was good value either. I drank two Madri. At £6.25 (£6.87 with service charge) this is probably about right for a restaurant. The premises are beautiful and the highlight of the visit. The service charge is written on the menus says it 'may be charged' in tiny, light writing so you can hardly see and doesn't even quote the figure, which is 10%. This is very sneaky. Be transparent re service charge. Parking is difficult to get nearby and is quite costly.

A dog friendly bar and restaurant (only allowed in the bar area). We had a couple of drinks here and a small bite to eat. The loaf of sourdough with garlic butter was very nice! Decor is very cool, children would have loved it!
