I
often
wonder
whether
the
DNA
Tower
in
Kings
Park
is
as
well
known
by
locals,
as
it
is
by
tourists??(
I
suspect
not).
The
tower
has
been
an
icon
in
the
centre
of
Kings
Park
for
about
5
decades.
One
theory
of
its
historical
origin
is
that
it
was
originally
some
sort
of
CSIRO/
Kings
Park
project,
showing
the
physical
manifestation
of
a
DNA
'string'
moelcule,
but
cast
as
a
walking
Tower.
If
you
believe
the
signage,
however,
it
was
simply
based
upon
a
stone
staircase
seen
in
a
French
Chateau.
But
if
you
look
at
pictorial
descriptions
of
DNA
molecules,
the
similarity
is
too
close
to
be
coincidental?
Being
over
20
m
high,
it
is
a
'nice'
vertical
walk
(
see
the
attached
photos),
raising
a
bit
of
a
'sweat'
for
us
less
fit
folk...
But
the
view
from
the
top
is
well
worth
the
climb.
Beautiful
views
are
to
be
had
across
our
fine
city..
You
will
be
able
to
identify
the
various
landmarks
from
a
metallic
map
that
is
located
on
the
top
level.
There's
also
a
beautiful
walk
along
the
lawn
from
The
King's
Park
Adventure
Playground,
leading
to
the
DNA
tower.
You
can
then
continue
your
walk
towards
the
Pioneer
woman's
memorial
nearby.
