As vegan, I would prefer greater variety of vegan options. Had a serve of Nachos - very disappointed. Maybe non-vegan option is delicious, but vegan one was blend. No flavour at all. Staff was friendly, though. Nice place to hang out, but please, bring more vegan options 🥙🧆🌮💚

This is a great bar in the evening with a lively and fun atmosphere. The terrace out the back has a large number of tables and the bar is large making service fast. I managed to order a couple of snacking dishes before the kitchen closed for the evening and both arrived quickly and were sizeable for the price. The bar staff were helpful in recommending beers and it was a great touch having TV screens in the toilets so you don’t miss out on the sport! Great bar and I’ll certainly be returning.

It's actually a quite decent pub, the toilets are fun... They have one way mirrors..... Well I hope they do. Decent selection of some local WA beers. Could always do with more.

We enjoyed lunch and cool drinks here. This was a good place to sit and recover our energy, from walking sightseeing Perth. There’s a breeze from the river that refreshing on a hot day. We planned our day trip around Perth and decided to visit Rottnest Island too. Friendly staff and atmosphere. Clean amenities good location.

I am a pregnant 34 year old women and was meeting my Mother and Grandmother at this establishment. Unfortunately my license had expired and due to postal delays during the Christmas period, I hadn’t received my new license in the mail. I had my expired license with my age, photo and address which I showed to the bouncer, but was met with an ugly attitude and he refused my entry. This was at 5.30pm in the afternoon when I was heavily pregnant and just wanted to have dinner with my family after walking a long distance to get to the venue. Luckily the rooftop bar around the corner was open, they gave me beautiful service and had an amazing view.

A personal favourite of ours. Right on the water and specials most nights. Pizza was very good. Pints excellent. Well worth a thought if you need somewhere to eat.

I entered the establishment, lost and afraid, in search of a land where I would feel safe and could acquire a perfectly poured beer. Once I stumbled up to the bar I was greeted by a man whose warm smile caused me to immediately feel as though I was welcomed home. This man proceeded to pour me the most exquisite beer I have ever received. As this occurred he asked me, “sir, you seem troubled. Are you okay?”. I knew this man could see through the mask I have worn for so many years. I replied, “no. The last few months since my wife left me have been difficult to say the least”. The bartender, whilst pouring this exceptional beer, proceeded to listen to my story and gave me comfort and advice which I believe has left me better off as a man. I will never forget this man, the man’s name was John and since our interaction I have never been the same.

Great place for an after work catch up for a drink or Friday lunch. The menu was reduced due to kitchen renovations however there was still enough on the menu to have options. The beef on the nachos was packed with flavour. We shared a bag of fries. It’s hard to believe this very basic thing could be so delicious. They have nailed fried. Very crisp and crunchy in the outside and fluffy and hot inside. There is no table service for food/drinks. Food is the QR code or at the bar and you collect your own drinks from the bar. They have a good selection of cocktails too.

Perfect stop for drinks and a great feed overlooking the water and South Perth. Great vibe with plenty of beers on tap & a pretty good food selection on offer. Outdoor deck on the water is the popular location but you can also dine inside if you wish.

Beautiful outlook, great menu and vibe. It’s busy but relaxed with friendly staff. We ducked in for a quick bite between lunch and dinner. The cheese bread looked better but my partner was too hungry to wait lol

It took 20 minutes to get the “loaded” potato skins. They were barely sprinkled with Bacon Cheese and Sour Cream for $18 and there was literally 3 of them. Not even nice crunchy goodness. It’s Sunday afternoon and there is about 1/3 occupancy and most of those people aren’t ordering food. Great location. Ridiculous food offering that looked like it was reheated from the lunch rush. Not an enticing reason to head to the city. Go elsewhere unless you just want beer.

Good “standard” bar with decent food, good selection of beers and a nice setting right next to the river. It’s really benefited from the upgrades and increased traffic around Elizabeth Quay. Good for after work drinks if it’s in your neighbourhood

Whether it’s the diverse menu, wide ranging tap beer or wonderful staff (particularly “The Shaggettes”), I love everything The Lucky Shag has to offer. But what I relish most about this venue is its location - a stroll away from the CBD and on the edge of the magnificent Swan River. Hint: the best time to go is just as the sun goes down. Sitting on the veranda, listening to some groovy live music and enjoying dinner….there’s not much in life that I enjoy more. My only “gripe” is that being from Sydney, I don’t get to visit as much as I’d like. However, considering I’ve been going there since 2009, I’d like to believe I’m in a good place to share my experiences. If you’re a seasoned visitor or new to the city, a visit to Perth isn’t complete without a drink at “The Shag”. Don’t forget to enquire about their “merch” either,

Really awesome venue, great beers and food. Shame about the works going on though. Ordered food and drinks then sat down to hear an insane jackhammer or drilling from the kitchen with the renovations going on. It was actually so loud that we couldn’t hear each other speak. We were looking around at the other guests and everyone was surprised, a lot of people were complaining and leaving their food and drinks to exit the venue. We finished our meals and drink and I went up to one of the bar staff and asked if they were notifying people of these works going on. The person who appeared to be the manager of the shift (he wore a blue shirts and had glasses on) was really rude and said there were signs all over the restaurant and notifications online and on the website. Quite sarcastically leaving me feeling terrible. We left without saying anything further. We saw no signs, looked online, on the website and Instagram/ Facebook and the only mention of works is that people should be”excited for the renovations”. I used to manage a restaurant/bar very similar. If this was happening, I would be notifying everyone on our socials, website etc, and actually having signs up at the front of the venue, or offering discounts for the heinous noises occurring before expecting people to sit down and pay full price for items when the venue is not able to offer what it should. As I said, awesome venue and great menus etc but this was super disappointing. I think the person I spoke to should learn what it means to value your customers and not be rude to them when they ask a simple question about what’s going on after paying $14 for a pint of beer.

Always one of my "must go to" places whenever I visit Perth. Good meals, service, and atmosphere. A great location on the dock. (But disappointed to find out that they no longer sell their own stubby holders. I need to replace my very old and worn out one that I bought here many years ago.) Recommended!

A lively, go-to place to socialise. Forget social distancing if you're concerned about covid as it gets packed to the rafters. Good flow of fresh air from the riverside. Name has stood the test of time and far more trendy than the Fortunate Cormorant.

Over the years I have organised dozens of social club gatherings and the like, big and small. I've never had a bad night here. Food is great, everything is reasonably priced and always friendly staff and enough of them too. Go in confidence, this is a great spot, central easy to get to via public transport. Too easy :)

Besides the great location right at the water, the food and drinks are yum. The service amazing. I've been stupid enough to leave my nachos unattended for a few minutes to get another drink when the birds attacked my food. The lovely waitress got me a small replacement bowl as I've still had at least half of my Nachos left. Everyone so friendly here ❤️

We hired the top floor for a surprise 60th birthday and from the get go Jess B was absolutely amazing every step of the way. She helped me coordinate everything and on the night she was there making sure everything ran smoothly. Every staff member we encountered was so polite and genuinely happy to be working the function. The food choices were plentiful and the comments from guests were that they were so impressed with how many gluten free options there were. One guest is a head chef at a top restaurant and absolutely sung the praises of the garlic prawns on sweet potato. Everything was just so amazing and I can't thank Jess and the staff enough for making it such a memorable night!

Was honestly so disappointed with the food. The first photo was the beef strips salad, this without the rice was $24 and honestly looked like a minute steak sliced on a bed of salad. It was also served with a sauce, which was no more than what felt like less than a tablespoon. The second photo is the grilled octopus, which was also disappointing after spending $29. It seems all the portion sizes have shrunk significantly. Does not feel like you’re getting what you pay for.

Not bad, beautiful spot and the food was quite good for pub grub. One of the bar staff was a little surly and disinterested (monday-itis maybe), when I asked a question and the table we sat at was beer-sticky and didn't get wiped, so that's reason for reduced stars. Otherwise, we will still return, but not our no.1 choice.

A great spot for a catch up in the city. Had a few beers and a meal. The meals are quite good for a pub meal, had some good local musicians playing done music. Good service at the bar, empty glasses removed quickly, food didn't take too long. Added bonus we got to see dolphins swimming about 20 metres from our table! Would definately return.

This is a great session spot and with enough screens you won't miss the game if you are a sports fan. Food can be hit or miss but the view and the vibe more than makes up for it.

Great venue for casual bite or group gathering. I attended for a work Christmas wind-up. Food was great but they did lose a couple of our meals - no harm done. The staff were friendly and we all had a great time. Would recommend no problem.

Had a steak sandwich which was yum except for the relish that was bitter. Place has a lovely vibe and nice river view. Was a little disappointed when we saw a cockroach 🪳 on the wall. But overall it's a good joint.

Not sure what is happening here.......... food was very ordinary given the pubs popularity over many years. If you want to charge city prices, then take a look at whats available all around you and aim to do better.

Had lunch here one warm day. The food was not of a very high standard. The calamari was awful. Definitely frozen supermarket packet as there was very little meat under the batter. Chips were average. Pizza selection limited and not very inviting. Tasted just ok. Prices were not justified for the quality of food. Definite no love in this kitchen. Won’t be going back any time soon.

Called in for a late lunch and a cold bevie on a Wednesday. Ordered drinks of a Pint of Mid strength and a Jack's n coke. $26.00 😳 Beer was on the warm side so another downer besides the $$$. Decided to head of somewhere else. Great spot on the river but not that gr8 to justify the price unfortunately.. 3 stars is really for the location.

I went for a bottomless lunch and it was incredible. Staff went above and beyond to make sure we were accommodated for. The cocktail and mocktail menus were extensive and didn't single anyone out for not drinking. You got far more bang for your buck than other venues with similar events

Took my friend out for her birthday only to be disappointed by the wet soggy bread gluten free pizza base, the really chewy pork and tiny serving for a big price. Not to mention the woolworths pesto tube spread horribly over the pizza. Great bar service and cocktails but not worth going there for the food.

Booked for birthday lunch on a very busy Saturday afternoon, very loud music inside so glad we got placed outside deck. The location is a perfect outlook over the River. All seating is bar stool so not great for elderly. Ok bar service but cocktails are terrible, not one of them tasted good or was made well. Food was Not great either. All meals came out at different times and I had to follow up people's ordered meals which is unacceptable. My teenager was harrassed by Security guard for I.D when she went to toilet so they need to settle down as children are welcome we thought. Mainly a younger crowd so suited our birthday celebration vibe but the food & cocktails are not up to scratch in comparison to other venues.

First time visit on this fine, Sunny day. The venue itself is Excellent. I can understand how it gets crowded in Summer. But I was disappointed by the range of Beers they had on tap. It's so hard to find a Good Full-strength Lager nowadays. Like Stella Artois. Here it's new 'healthy' stuff and Pale Ale. There was Peroni, but I just can't stomach that. Even there Bottled selection was slim, at least for the quick look that I had. So for the first time in a decade, Corona it was. And kudos to the Barman for not automatically putting Lemon or Lime in it. It's better without. Next visit will have to include a Meal, then we can judge a bit more thoroughly.

  • 4/5 Benjamin S. 10 months ago on Google
Great beer selection NRL on the big screen and great service. However the steak sandwich was a bit lackluster for the price of chewy steak with tomatoes and onion and the "crisps" were questionable. I understand the kitchen was under renovation so the review is still high. But still a bit pricey for what I received. Other than that great venue and hope to come again with the renoed kitchen

  • 1/5 Kim M. 1 year ago on Google
I have been here many times. I enjoy the view and the atmosphere. But being single I sit alone. There is only bar service. I get up for my second beer and turn around and the last half of my food has been cleared. The staff were apologetic but had no resolve to what I am supposed to do when I want another beer. I told them from now on I will ask a server to sit a table until I get back. Bah! An issue with the barbaric bar service policy across Australia. What brought this on. Everyone running out the door without paying?

  • 5/5 Carl 1 year ago on Google
A great location at the harbour front with views across the river and a nice breeze on a hot day. They also have outside heaters for those cooler evenings. Very friendly, helpful staff who let us have a sample of the beers for us to choose what we wanted. Food was good at a reasonable price and a generous portion size.
