Nice underground place, classic style pub with friendly staff and relaxed atmosphere. I enjoyed my meal, it was just what I needed!

Incredible foods and service. Would more than recommend to anyone wanting a good meal for a fair price. Amazing staff and even better food here.

Nice quiet pub if your a yuppie

A very good Bar & Restaurant with a lot of potential to be much, much better, this venue needs to have live entertainment to bring more than the usual half dozen or so patrons you'll see most days/nights, also the lighting definitely needs to be toned down it's quite bright inside which does nothing for the ambience of this very unique below ground Bar. The saving grace of this venue is what the Chef serves up, I have no complaints only compliments, try the Lamb Shank you will not be disappointed. To recap: A Bar with much potential but falls short in ambience with the saving grace being what the Chef serves on to your lucky table.

This bar totally serves its purpose, but its 2-3 star pub. Food is ok, beers are ok, no atmosphere, but you can bring 12 people here for a pub lunch and know you will get a table and likely be in and out in under an hour. Not a place for first dates ;p

Nice bar with a good vibe. Upbeat music playing in the background, and happy, friendly staff. I had the beef goulash with mash potatoes, which I thoroughly enjoyed.

The beer and the bartender service was great, felt welcomed. However, the way the manager came to check on us was not inviting. Would not recomend and will not visit again.

Nice spot, however lacks the heritage from its History a few posters on the wall explain this but unfortunately over the years with new tenants/owners have failed to capture the original origins but still a vibrant place to be.

There was live music on the night we went, a new fella, Justin Davies, playing Aussie rock and a great atmosphere. Will definitely reccommend

Very easy to miss but certainly a hidden treasure! We tried some tapas, each to their own with the pineapple and pork skewers! Everything else tasted great and they have daily specials. Staff were very friendly.

This is a nice cosy bar just off the busy CBD area. It wasn’t busy but there was a good atmosphere with a humorous twist. A couple sitting opposite us had ordered food and when served the order was wrong. When the order was corrected the manager came out to the couple explained the error then proceeded to go round the remaining customers offering the incorrect order for free, I have never seen this happen before. The prices are really reasonable with wine being charged at AUD 8.5 which is good for this part of town.

Out of the way place but very friendly with good food

The only times I've been here have been to catch up with friends, so I've always enjoyed myself. Drinks are great with good selection for a general bar/lounge/resto. They have a few lounge seats, table seats and also tall-table/bar-style seating. The food is yummy and decently priced, and heard they have a new menu but haven't been to check it out!

In the words of an actor and one of our poiiies... I'll be back. I came back and had the braised lamb shank. I have had this elsewhere, and these guys definitely win the race! Succulent meat. Fantastic veggies. With a pint of Guinness there is nothing better!

Love this place. Although we didn't eat here the food that was coming from the kitchen looked very good, and it's well priced with good sized portions. Pop in and check it out.

We have dined and drank at 43 Below on and off for several years, having resided in the city. As we have moved away, this last lunch was a fond farewell to a much loved haunt. The dishes are hearty, generous and contain quality ingredients. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. Recommended.

Good place in the city for a decent pint

It was the first time I ventured into the subterrene bar, where after some time, I left and was glad that I gave it a go. A very casual bar that has Irish DNA throughout. It is worth dropping in, there’s a lot to explore, and you will be rewarded for your effort. Likely to be a great bar if you are meeting up or post work drinks.

If youre coelaic - do not eat here. The manager said his sister is coeliac and recommended their bangers and mash as a safe choice. It was not safe. Below is what I wrote directly after visiting and gave the pub 3 stars. Now it's down to 1 for poisoning me. Eating out as a celiac is always tricky, luckily the manager on when I went has a sister who is also coeliac. This meant he knew what I could eat safely - bangers and mash! Delicious! It was a slightly disappointing wait time though. 50 minute wait when there was only one other table order before us. They were a chef down, so it's understandable, but only told us that when the final meal was brought out, a full 10 minutes after the other 2 dishes arrived. We were given a free round of drinks for the wait - appreciate that, thanks guys. All in all it was a fine lunch, nothing fancy, I won't be coming back though.

Worst meal I’ve ever seen. The schnitzel was Burt and the size of a post card with 1000 chips all soaked in oil. We complained and got our money back they were not at all apologetic we won’t be going back definitely a thumbs down

We went there for lunch. I had the Wine Roasted Lamb Shank. It was to die for. The staff are really friendly and the decor is plush and comfortable. We only drank soft drink but 43 Below is primarily a bar so it has plenty of beers wines and spirits on sale.

So tasty. Especially cheese chix one. It’s underground but light enough and cozy. Definitely coming back.

Open mic on Friday nights 6-9pm is really nice. Not too loud and chill.

Ran out of steak sandwiches at 6.30 pm. Kitchen staff were unfriendly. The fire alarm went off due to smoke from the kitchen. The bar was good, but generally disappointing.
