We had a great night out thanks to the fabulous service, food and drinks. All good selections were tasty and well presented. Never disappointed each time we visit here whether it's lunch or dinner. There are also good vegetarian options on the menu.

Delicious Mediterranean/middle eastern dishes. I had the braised goat as a main and it is probably the best goat dish I have ever had. So succulent, tender and flavourful. I can't recommend the goat enough, but I would advise that it is huge, so you'll want to share it.

Ok where to start. When me and my partner arrived we were first off the rung and the guys were awesome. The family friendly atmosphere was exactly what we were after, coupled with sensationally good service. These guys made eating gluten free vegan easy. We did a per person rate so they could come up with the menu and we didn't have to choose anything but the drinks (which were also sensational). Thanks heaps Bivouac for everything the experience was awesome and we will be coming back again. Ok just Updating My previous post. This is the place I feel at home to go. The Guys are awesome and the service unimaginable....... This is and was the place after 10years of marriage I wanted and would take my wife too again to have one of if not the best dinning experience in Perth. The Food is well let me show you.

I was really disappointed with my experience. It was a hot day and I made a 9pm reservation. It was more hot inside the restaurant then it was outside. They had no fans or air conditioning so it made what was supposed to be an enjoyable evening unbearable. Furthermore I had to request ice for my drink?! I ordered the grilled haloumi, shawarma roasted cauliflower and fried potatoes. The serve of the haloumi was 4 small slithers and cost $18… unbelievable! The potatoes were also a great disappointment, they had clearly been boiled before they were fried so they were exceptionally dry. I won’t be dining there again.

We dined for lunch on a Thursday and ordered the duck and pork mains. The staff were lovely and the atmosphere was nice. We found both our meals were lackluster, however. The duck was served with pureed hazelnuts and grapefruit. I did not find these flavours complimentary at all. The pork was well-cooked, but served on a bed of some miscellaneous puree which was not tasty. Paying top dollar, I expect the food to be amazing. It wasn't. The serves were small - I was still hungry at the end of the meal. The menu is also very limited. Perhaps most alarmingly for us, they do NOT have a coffee machine, so can only offer filter coffee with your meal. Sacrilege. Theres plenty of other great spots to dine in Perth. Id give Balthazar a miss.

Good food and great service! They were very attentive to our party of 12, and the feed me menu was very generous. The cocktails were a bit mediocre, unfortunately, but everything else was good.

You guys really need to work on basic customer service skills. We were reminded of the 90min table time frame constant (for a 5pm booking when the restaurant was empty), and this was in the space of the 10min from when we sat down. We quite clearly read that it was 90min and do not need to constantly be reminded. Food was mediocre. Plenty of better places around

I had a terrible experience here. Our waiter was incredibly rude, he came over every 30 seconds pestering us to order as he would "need to turn the table over in 90 minutes". We felt so rushed and absolutely ruined the vibe! Even with a limited time booking, it is so unnecessary to rush your guests like that. I spent my minimum guarantee amount and left, won't be going back.

The best Mediterranean food in the area by a mile. The eggplant and sauteed broccolini is a must have and the hummus is amongst the best I've ever had. The goat shoulder is a terrific as well! Highly recommended!

Stopped by for lunch and was blown away by the quality of food here. The king mushroom was my absolute favourite, the chickpea popped with flavour and really brought everything together. The duck was cooked perfectly, loved that tangy raspberry sauce which married so well with the apricots, kale and brussels sprouts. The Morrocan lamb was a flavour bomb, the meat was tender and the saffron yoghurt was the cherry on the top. Can't wait to come back for dinner another time and try the cocktail menu too which looked amazing!

Everything about the set menu was amazing. Highly recommended if you want to try something different. Plenty of veggie options too. The drinks are as unique as the meals. Unfortunately no split billing.

Had the stuffed eggplant and charred broccolini for lunch. Super yummy! 👌🏾 The G & G was refreshing and went really well with the tangy veggies. Staff were attentive and friendly. And whoever was in charge of the playlist has great taste in music 👌🏾

First time trying this restaurant - overall decent experience. Food was good and within expectations given the crowd. Drinks were good - cocktails were good strength and wine list had a good selection. Service was ok and ambience was casual and comfortable. Need to book in advance for weekend nights.

Had a wonderful experience at this restaurant! The ambience is perfect for a romantic evening. Opted for the Spring/summer feed me menu, and while most dishes were a culinary delight, there were a couple of hiccups. The flatbread with hummus dips was a tasty start, leading to the standout Haloumi Lime- with perfect combination of the bush tomato pearls, pomegranate molasses, yuzu honey and candied pecans creating a flavour explosion. Next, for the supporting act (beetroot & Charred stone fruit salad was okay. Despite, the balsamic and herbs, the blue cheese was still a little too overwhelming. I wish that they did add more flavour to help balance it out. The main course, dry aged duck had a delightful smoke aroma. However, it was a tad tough for my liking. On the upside, the beautifully cooked golden-brown potatoes with a slight crisp at the top were a highlight. I’m particularly intrigued by the diverse cocktails menu and look forward to exploring it on my next visit. The attentive staff and creative culinary offerings make this restaurant a worthwhile choice for a special date night, despite the minor set backs.

Took my fiance here last Friday for a nice dinner and that was exactly what we got! We tried the feed me menu which was great! 4 portions but wow what a feast! They tailor it to you based upon the sorts of foods you like and it did not disappoint! Great atmosphere inside, warm and very friendly service! Great little place!

Bivouac was always a great place to visit, I went on Saturday for the first time in a year and was very disappointed, little things like the food turning up with 5 minutes of ordering just like Mcdonalds. It was awful not even being able to enjoy some wine before everything being presented. The waitress wasn't rude as such just not suited to the job and a little too cool for her own good, did not enjoy her being around our table. Bigger things like the Merguez sausages being dry, overcooked and with quite a bit of bone. Some of the entrees ok but not like the work of old. Never again for me

Bivouac was easily the best dining experience I have encountered. We had a babysitter pull out last minute and the staff at Bivouac accommodated this beyond expectations. That aside, the food was amazing with huge portion sizes, the love & care was tasted in each bite and sip! We will be back and appreciate the amazing food and service on a night that almost went wrong!

What a brilliant restaurant! First time here and its now definitely on our list. We had the Feed Me menu and its very rare we are beaten by a restaurant and cant finish everything but beaten we were and take home containers it was. The food was superb. The staff were friendly. Their version of a whisky sour is one of the best I have had and the ladies loved their cocktails too. Absolutely recommend Bivouac and we will definitely be back ... soon.

(Translated by Google) Perth CBD is a long-established restaurant that has been in business for over 20 years. The exterior looks like a hideaway, and although the interior is small, it is very comfortable and the staff are very friendly. The essential food has a wonderful taste that matches the artistic presentation. The pasta here (seafood spaghetti on this day) was the most delicious I've ever eaten in Perth (^^) The drink menu was abundant and the apero and wine were delicious 🍾 The price is a little high but it's worth it So, if you haven't been there yet, please go. Reservation required.

This was seriously one of the best dining experiences that we've EVER had. We decided to select the 'Feed Me' menu and there was literally too much food to eat - the serving sizes were generous and the food was outstanding. Dishes ranged from soft shell crab, to salad, to goat chops to amazing donuts. Service was spectacular with very knowledgeable wait staff providing the best recommendations for wine to accompany our meal. Really really really great place! We spent almost three hours enjoying the leisurely pace of the meal and the atmosphere.

Great service Great vibe Amazing food This may be the best meal we’ve eaten this year. We chose the feed me option - as usual- and let the waitress chose her favourites and we were not disappointed. From a start of house dip a green hummus that was like falafel on a plate with warm bread we knew we were on the right course. This was followed by lamb cutlet so juicy and tender I even ate it off the bone. A charcuterie plate of the most thinly sliced beetroot topped with tiny morsels of flavour had me covered to beetroot! To finish this course halloumi in lemon honey with walnuts, mint and blood orange. I was in heaven. Just when we thought it couldn’t get better mains came out, first the beef shortcut ribs that fell apart and were packed with flavour accompanied by corn cobs. Then, more! A charcoal eggplant topped with figs and spiced rice. These paired perfectly with the meat and left us stuffed. We rolled into dessert. Barely able to eat another bite. I’m not huge on sweets so we let our host choose and were treated to chocolate bark, Turkish delight and their basbousa cake. All delicious. The feed me will leave you well fed and provides such a great spread of the menu. Come hungry and you will not be disappointed!

Great food, good atmosphere, friendly efficient staff. What more do you need to know? Oh, the music is at a level where patrons can have conversations. Thank goodness. Sydney restaurants could learn a thing or two about this from Perth restaurants.

Booked dinner here for wife's birthday as we had fond memory of having dinner here once before. The menu has now changed since 6 months ago as we were advised by the waitstaff. Nevertheless they have a few vegetarian options which is good. Ordered the falafel, haloumi, eggplant and roast vegetables(carrot and beetroot). Enjoyed all the dishes but the eggplant would have to be the star of the show. Falafels were bit too dry and could have been a little less dense on the inside. Prices are a bit on the higher side for some of the portions and this venue (canteen style restaurant). Service could be better as we had a warm welcome and introduction to the menu, but was a bit sketchy afterwards. Drinks didn't arrive until midway through meal and no one came to check on us at the end of the meal to see if all was ok or whether we wanted to order anything else or desserts. I get the vibe the place has changed ownership hence doesn't feel the same but in any case definitely needs a brush up if they want to keep their customers coming back.

We went for our monthly date afternoon lunch! The manager is really nice and welcoming. The cocktails are flavourful and the right mix of alcohol specially for an afternoon lunch! We ordered entrees more than mains and enjoyed to the very last bite. The highlight and i cannot stress enough is the “ Sticky date pudding” you will not go wrong with this! We were very close to ordering another one it was that yummy! I can still taste it. The manager was kind enough to give us a complimentary bread thank you so much! I would say if you don’t want to feel heavy and full with your lunch this is the right place right quantity without sacrificing the taste!

It is am amazing uplift on the Mediterranean cuisine. Well done guys. We also had a lot of fun trying to crack where the manager was from. Despite heaps of clues.. we didn’t get it. Decided to try something new to celebrate my wife's birthday and stumbled upon Bivouac. Located very close to Cultural Centre CPP (free after 6pm) which is a bonus. It was quite lively on a Tuesday evening and by the time we left the place was full. We tried the 4 course menu for 2 and was blown away by the well balanced flavours and contrasting textures. Apart from the main dish, every dish was made without meat products yet tasted impressively complete. The portions were very generous and we end up bringing home 2 containers full. Le wife rate it a 10/10 after the first 3 dishes and eventually 11/10 by the time we were done. Despite the busy setting, service was friendly and tried their best to accommodate our requests when available. They even gave my wife a glass of champagne and wish her happy birthday.

Delicious bottomless brunch. The food is amazing and the drinks are great too. Staff were very attentive and nice. We also tried the pistachio tiramisu was lovely but wish the golden pearls were not on it as it ruins the nice smooth texture of tiramisu. Absolutely loved our meal today! We did the chefs tasting menu which was excellent. Every bite we had was flavorful and plentiful. The cocktails were on point and the service was excellent. With the standout dish being the salmon and I’m not a cooked salmon fan!! But what made the whole meal even better was one particular server go above and beyond for not just the customers in the restaurant but the customers passing by. He rushed to the door to remove some safety cones when a blind man walked by outside the restaurant and moments after assisted an elderly gentleman from his table down the step and too his wheelchair. I didn’t get the servers name but today you restored my faith in humanity! Thank you for a wonderful meal and great service!

Visited last night for our 38th wedding anniversary. We were hoping to have a special meal out to celebrate and were definitely not disappointed. Staff were very welcoming and attentive without being intrusive. Food was amazing. We chose the Feed Me menu option which is a taster of many of the menu items, a tasty and abundant array of deliciousness. We couldn't finish it all so headed home with leftovers (dinner tonight - winning!) and Turkish delight and the made in house chocolate bark. So headed home satiated and happy with extra yummy goodies. Thank you all... it was a perfect evening. We'll be back.

A truly special restaurant in the heart of Northbridge - it’s easy to see why Bivouac has become such an institution. The food is incredible (the fish is especially delicious!) and the service is attentive without being overbearing or intrusive. We were so impressed. The only tiny thing missing is a couple of non-alcoholic options on the drinks menu (this pregnant lady would have loved a well-crafted mocktail with her dinner!). In a busy restaurant I feel like a bother asking about/ordering off-menu, so being able to see some non-alcoholic options would be fantastic. Overall, a superb experience! Bivouac is definitely a must-visit.

Three of us celebrating a friend’s birthday here. Very very tasty food. However for a meal over $200 for 3 people , we were under so much pressure to order, to eat, and to pay. It wasn’t nice at all :( We know the restaurant is super popular and even hard to make the booking sometimes. but a lot of restaurants are popular and we never under so much pressure before. Sorry even a meal in Subway won’t feel so rushed, a bit shame as we really like the food and we appreciate the efficiency of the staff.

I got taken there for my birthday (Sept 2020) and I've to say it was the right choice. The food was great, that pear ice cream with our dessert simply blew my mind. And the service, thank you Virginia, was absolutely outstanding. She got as the perfect wine, we never had an empty glass, knows the menu and was absolutely lovely and friendly. She even got the kitchen to write happy birthday on my dessert plate.

My partner had been wanting to take me here for ages. We went for dinner on a Friday night. We weren't too sure about the atmosphere at first (a bit noisy and people dressed a lot more casually than expected).... But both of those things aren't really in the control of the restaurant. Suffice to say, guys don't need to wear a collar and ladies, jeans are okay too apparently. We took a while to decide on the wine because there is an unbelievable diversity on offer. Our waiter was so patient. We had the pleasure of meeting the sommelier who served us our Austrian white wine as we waited for our food. The wine was beautiful. The food was really good!! We tried two entrees and two mains, which we shared to be able to try all four. The mushroom tart was very nice but the terrine was sensational!!! I mean....just really honest and rustic European style food but done with amazing quality ingredients. For mains we had the duck and the kangaroo. I particularly enjoyed the kangaroo - cooked perfectly and paired with really unique accompaniments. The duck was a little chewy but the flavours were still good. My partner preferred the flavours with the duck. For me though, that kangaroo was divine. All in all, a really enjoyable meal with great service.

Like others have said, the service and atmosphere are fantastic, and the drinks menu is long and distinguished. Unfortunately, the food was very disappointing. For entrees, we had the duck and chicken terrine, and the mushroom tart. The terrine was overly salty, and the mushroom was dessert-level sweet and creamy. For mains, we had the duck and the pork. The meats themselves were cooked and seasoned to perfection, but the flavours surrounding them were awful. The duck, for instance, was served swimming in a pool of grapefruit syrup which ruined everything it touched, and a dollop of Nutella-esque hazelnut puree. The flavour combinations seemed like nothing more than the experimental failures of a casual home cook. There was a glaring lack of subtlety, and the end result was a set of dishes far worse than the sum of their parts. A fully revamped menu would do wonders for this place. As it stands, I would not recommend it at all, especially for the price. PS Who the heck wants a long black after dinner? Get a damn espresso machine!

Torn about this place. Service was great and atmosphere too but a lovely old building and the interior didn't reflect it. Flavour combinations were unusual at times but worked well. Sadly the pork crackling wasn't crackling.

Belated review. We had a Xmas celebration dinner here in December. The food, service and ambience were faultless. One of the best dining experiences ever!

What an incredible night! Our sommelier (Fiona) was amazing and the waitress (Camilla) was the best we've had in a long, long time. This coupled with the extensive wine list and outstanding menu made for one of the best nights out in recent memory. I couldn't recommend Balthazar enough and we'll be back the moment we can. I can definitely recommend the duck and the Artuke Tempranillo. Thanks to all the staff at Balthazar, see you again soon!

The food was really good a bit to salty for us. What I really liked there is the service, the waiter we had was really efficient and professional.

Good service. Expensive. No vegetarian options. It seems they haven't changed the menu in years.

My boyfriend and I ate here last night. The feel of the place is really nice. Dim lighting and good service. The food was ok. For entree, we started with bread and butter. The butter was nice. For main, I had the fish of the day: fish was very well cooked (not dry) but i wasnt a fan of the salad that came with the dish. My boyfriend had the pork belly dish: in our opinion, the crispy skin wasnt as crispy as we had hoped (Chop chop in the city still holds the best crispy pork belly title in our hearts). We also had mixed salad on the side. It was ok. Overall, it was an ok experience. Not bad but not the best in terms of the food we had ordered. Maybe the other dishes wouldve have been better.

Probably my favourite restaurant in Perth. Delicious food, attentive staff and a beautifully curated selection of wines all in an in intimate and relaxed setting.

Truly one of Perth's hidden gems. Amazing restaurant, amazing food. Love the dim lighting, makes it so much more intimate and cozy. Scallop & rainbow trout carpaccio, whipped almond as an entree was good. Had the beef fillet, mushrooms, potato puree, jus for the mains - so much flavour in each bite. Will definitely recommend this restaurant!

Uber cool restaurant oozing sex appeal and intimacy. Low lighting cool music and a great selection of foods and drinks. Huge selection of wine by the bottle or limited selection by the glass. The wait staff were excellent. Book ahead and treat someone special!

I love this place! I’ve been coming to Biv for ten years because it is consistently brilliant. My partner and I celebrated our anniversary here last night and the staff made us feel so welcome! Love and gratitude especially to the marvellous Coven for taking care of us. Highly recommend this restaurant !!!

What a place! Absolutely loved the mix of North African and South European cuisine. We ordered the feed me which was super filling and well timed with a few new flavour combinations we certainly enjoyed. Wine menu is not the best but alright. Place gets very busy so make sure to book. Only downer you will smell like food.

This restaurant had been recommended on perth foodies fb page. Hubby booked this for my birthday. We were both blown away by the food, absolutely delicious. We ordered lamb cutlets and the tagine with roasted potatoes and we could have eaten more. Can’t wait to go back, lovely quick service too. Thankyou

I have dined here on a number of occasions over the last few years and have never been disappointed. Bivouac has a great vibe, the staff are always professional, knowledgeable and friendly, and the food is second-to-none. Last night, we had a group booking for a birthday and chose to indulge in their hand-picked 'Feed Me' menu. It was outstanding. Every single dish (and there were many - I didn't manage to take pictures of them all!) was mouth-watering, with the most incredible flavours and textures. Many thanks to the chef and our waitress for a fantastic evening. ❤️

Absolutely blown away by this place. The food was similar that you would expect from a high end restaurant and the service very warm and welcoming. Amazing vegetarian food options and cocktails. We are already planning our return 😀

Very delicious food. The mussels cooked in a tomato sauce was the best mussels I’ve ever had. The dish was on the special menu. The other food was great as well with the middle eastern chicken and more. Dessert was a stand out as well. Great service and nice vibe.

We had great service and the food amazing! The flavours AB’s creativity of the dishes delicious! Wold highly recommend. Our dip of the day was a classic hummus and can say it was the best hummus I’ve ever had! Thick creamy and smooth! If you’re in Perth this is a must for dinner!

This is easily one of the best meals my wife and I have had. We chose the “feed me” option off the menu and were pleasantly surprised by how much we enjoyed not knowing what was coming next. The staff are very friendly and the service is amazing.

Bivouac is one of my favourite places to eat out for dinner, date night or drinks. They do the best espresso martini I’ve found so far - butter espresso is a MUST try! The food is always creative, local & seasonal flavors & cooked to perfection. Atmosphere can be noisy at times but over all; it’s still my top pick for places to go out to have dinner! Yum!

The hummus here was excellent. Also tries one of their gin cocktails. I'm not a fan of very sweet cocktails, this one was. I'd say more of a hot summer drink for those who prefer sweeter beverages. Tasted great but too sweet for me. Tried their chicken mains, very well cooked full of flavour. The potato item was tasty but a bit dry. I'd definitely like to try more food items coz it was overall a good experience. Service great too!

Loved our night here! We did the “Feed Me Menu” which was an excellent choice because there was too much to try! Service was fantastic and we loved our window table.

  • 5/5 Joel H. 1 year ago on Google
One of the best value tasting menus in Perth. Been coming here for years. Service was a little shaky as staff threw down dishes and had no idea what was on the plate. We know, but it was a little lax lustre that the staff did not present each dish... they are present worthy. Don't rest on your laurels Bivouac, stay good but do better.

We were blown away with the food, so flavourful. Good portion size and not breaking the bank. They get 5 stars for the service staff who were very attentive and friendly even though we arrived on Sunday (12th Mar) and they were swamped as they were one member short.

  • 5/5 Brittany B. 7 months ago on Google
Wanted to have a nice night out and this definitely lived up to expectations! Staff were attentive and polite. Food was so amazingly flavourful. Had the haloumi starter and it was honestly one of the best things I've ever tasted. Sans alcohol drinks were also delicious and a perfect palate cleanser between bites.

Great little bar and canteen. Yummy medditeranean food! We tried the mushroom, fish, chicken, and crispy cauliflower. The mushroom dish isn't my favourite. The fish and chicken dishes are great! Both were tender and cooked well. Flavours were on point. By the time the cauliflower arrived, we we're so full already! But still flavoursome! Cocktails are good too.
