Hadn't been here since the 90s! The place has clearly been updated over the years, but still felt very much like the Charles of my youth. Staff were pleasant and while the queue for drinks was a bit long, it wasn't terrible. Great venue for live music that has clearly stood the test of time.

Best place in Perth to go see the live bands, dance and have a fantastic time. The Pub grub is great value and excellent quality, the drinks menu is extensive and caters to all. Heaps of parking and no accessibility problems. If you're going to see a band, recommend you book a table for dinner and priority access into the venue.

Although popular it's certainly not the most prestigious location. The night I was there, there was a celebration of 50s 60s and 70s music. The music itself was way too loud and even with earplugs I still suffered a massive headache. The staff were friendly and helpful but the place could sure do with some serious renovations to make it look more modern and relevant

We had a great live band experience, but this venue is old and very dated. Due for a major refurbishment to bring it in line with other iconic venues in the area.

Old fashioned grimey rock pub, the likes of which have sadly been gentrified out of existence most other cities. Real atmosphere and history. Authentic.

Tonight we went to listen to a CCR tribute band at The Charles Hotel. Dinner was alright. After that we ended up standing in a queue for 30 minutes before slowly entering the venue to end up standing inside, there wasn’t a single spare chair! I wonder what we payed for? There were a couple of acts as fillers that were so out of touch with a proper blues bar that we left early. Bloody boring night.

the place is a dump and badly needs a refresh. I assume the only reason people go to is to see bands out the back. The band room itself is great, as others have said the stage is low so bit hard to see. Bar queue was long and slow, although I think the show was sold out.

went for the (SRB) band .. didn't drink or eat there. Had all the signs of being where many great WA & Aussie bands have been able to play & launch their career. Respect

The Charles Hotel is an old-school pub that doesn't pretend to be anything else but. It's a regular hangout of mine and I've had a lot of sensational Friday afternoons here over the last couple of years at the Friday dance show in the band room. The bar staff are always super friendly and a shoutout to Dean (who I'm not sure still works there), Lilly and the lady that served me on Friday (I don't know her name sorry) for always remembering my go-to drink is Carlton Draught! While there's plenty of parking right across the road, The Charles conveniently had a bus stop right outside too and there's 5 or 6 routes from Perth Busport that stop there so it's only a 10 minute ride by bus!

I went there a long time ago. I thoroughly enjoyed it & have considered going back again. However, I heard on the radio this week, that your venue is cash only, but..there is an ATM outside. That incurs an additional charge for the transaction, plus standing in a line up. Now that I know, it won’t affect me but many people won’t know. What is the reason????

The service customer is only one do everything such as cashier, order menu, waiter n bar serve. The venue is bit dull, need give a love. The foods, I was nervous that they might be very quiet I assumed they use frozen leftover or something but tasted not bad. The woman who do everything isn't good enough to have an experience how approaches me as Deaf customer in our conversation.

The live music they have here is awesome but the pub itself is a bit old and tired (I frequented it in the 1980”s and early 90’s!). Meals are average pub grub.

Having a quiet drink with friends before a show and moved a table to make more room for all of us, big mistake we were aggressively approached by a security guy were the attitude went from 0 to 10 within a minute this guy needs to find a new job as he is obviously not suited to working with the public! Spoiled our evening as he was not worth reasoning with and caused angry reactions from my partner. Never going there again

Went there for dinner and they served up the best scotch fillet that I have ever had nice and tender and cooked to perfection.

Visited for a concert in the "jazz hall" The pub itself is quite nice, decent prices, reasonable range of drinks on offer Friendly staff and efficient enough to prevent large lines

Haven't been here in such a long time missed out on seeing cold chisel on my girlfriends birthday last year. Going to try again and see tribute band Queen,Madonna and more on the 18th June. Last year my friends had such a wonderful time. I'm praying I don't get sick.

Always a joy on "blues" night, always an extended relief that their bottle shop service is open until 12pm ON A SUNDAY ~ god send 🙏 for off the cuff dinner parties, Sunday sports (if they win that is), and, oh no its 10 to 7!! We missed the deadline 😭😅 but no. Expect to pay extra ♥️🌹

Every time I visit I feel so welcome. My last visit was for my B-I-L's wake and they did an absolutely brilliant job. They also have great entertainment from everywhere very special place. Staff treat you like family whether it is your first or hundredth and first visit. Very highly recommended

The Charles Hotel in my experience is a great venue for lunch. The staff are friendly and efficient. (Well done Courtney) Drink and food prices are very reasonable.

Went to see a band, and ate beforehand. The food was OK, but I can not recommend the pizza. It sounded good on the menu. The pub itself is a bit tired, and although the band was great, the stage is not high. If there are a few larger people in the audience, you can not see much. It needs a facelift, but it has good live music.

Absolutely appauling!! We made a booking for dinner and couldn’t have all of our meals at the table at the same time. 30 minutes between first and last meal. When asking staff to assist, we were told “not my issue, we are understaffed” and walked away! The manager and staff were rude and service was dismal. Do not visit!
