Lovely fine dining restaurant which serves delicious and high quality food. We ordered the broccoli salad, fritters, chicken and pork belly. My favourites would definitely be the broccoli salad and pork belly. The pork belly was soft with crispy skin and the pineapple it came with had a hit of spice. It melts right in your mouth. The chicken was pretty mediocre, the skin was crispy but the taste itself was just salty. Drinks are amazing here - we ordered all four cocktails and all four were unique.

Came here to enjoy New Year's Dinner. It was a pre planned 5 course meal. The fish Entree was dry, they didn't have 3 of the 7 cocktail options on the menu. Angelo from the service staff was kind but I always had to ask them to refill my glass of water. I got the best service from the Valet parking guy. The worst dish was the dessert, it was supposed to be dark chocolate mousse cake but it was a hard crusted and baked stuff that we couldn't figure out how to eat and tasted really bad. Do no go there ever.

Enjoyable food in a nice atmosphere with attentive staff and quick service. Their menu seems to change regularly and they offer a wide range of meals, with our small selection being well prepared, at the table within 10 minutes of ordering and of amazing taste. The only downside is that their breakfast menu ends around 10:30, but that is likely less of an issue for you than it was for us 😉

Noisy and vibrant atmosphere, tapas style restaurant. Services was fast and friendly, staff are attentive. Loved the duck liver parfait, serving was much bigger then I expected. The only thing I did not like was the desert; coconut sago. The only thing was it was not sago but chia seeds. However I did get an explanation from the staff, the taste was plain and I felt like it was a breakfast dish. Overall a nice night out, if you like vibrant and fast pace this is the place to be.

A bit pricey for such tiny servings and moderately ok-tasting food. My friend and I split the smashed avocado on toast and banoffee crepe between us and for around ~ 30 AUD per head you'd think you'd get a bit more for breakfast. It was an ok meal overall, just wish the servers had been more attentive to our table.

Sharing this for the first time after countless of visits. Mostly here for dinner. Petition is an upscale casual restaurant located inside the State Building in Perth CBD. It has a nice vibe and very popular. They have the best Broccoli & mixed grain salad, ever! The last time we dined here, we ordered chargrilled octopus, beef rump, heirloom carrots salad, broccoli salad, lamb loin and a few others. We enjoyed the food as usual but I must say for the very first time that the lamb loin was a let down. The taste was just not right. I’m sure this will be fixed. I didn’t take any star off because I’ve been here many times. This doesn’t tarnish the restaurant’s reputation in my eyes. Definitely will return to dine for more.

The waiter suggested the Chefs plate which was a banquet of surprise dishes from the chef. Great choice and simply delicious.

  • 3/5 Jessie C. 2 years ago on Google
Food is generally good. I found in the latest menu, a lot of dishes are on the sour/pickle/vinegar side of the taste, which I am not a huge fan of. Oh but the broccoli salad remained our fav after many years! It is the BEST salad! Staff were quite cold and the lady who appeared to be the manager, did not greet us when we arrived. (Only asked if we have a reservation...) Well maybe she had a hard day... Overall, food is good, drink is good just the experience is not the best.

Been a patron a number of times over the years and this place seems to be deteriorating year by year and I think the most recent experience would be my last. Service is hit and mostly miss. Had a couple of errors on our order - missed a starter and had an extra coffee served and when told of the error, they would rather chuck it than offer it to the table as a complimentary offer which would be of negligible cost. Serving size is on the smaller side and pricing offers poor value in my opinion. You would expect the complexity or flavours to compensate the small portions but both were missing. There was 1 staff who was pleasant enough to serve with a smile but the rest of them seemed like they would rather be somewhere else. The kicker was at the end the error was still in the bill which was only caught when I inspected it. This restaurant is in such a good location and has beautiful decor but sadly it seems like the food and service does not match its ambience. There's much more competition in Perth now and plenty of restaurants that offer much more for way less expense.

Overall experience was excellent. Drinks, food and service was top notch despite how busy it was. Only fault was the chocolate fondant which really was more cake...tasted good, but but expecting chocolate to ooze out of it. Hope it is a once off.

This is more of a fine dining restaurant. It’s a little bit pricey, and the portion size is also quite small. However, the food is delicious and beautifully presented. The food is served quite fast, and the dining area is quite spacious too. Although with many people in there, I don’t have to speak loudly to be heard, it’s actually a nice place for catching up. The only downside is that only one person takes your order, so you might need to wait before you can place your order.

We had a selection of shared plates and the food was delicious. Service was also very good. Only downside I don't see why a wine list has to have everything high end. We have so many good wines here which are available @ a reasonable price.

Spectacular restaurant. Definitely worth the money and time. Went there on a Monday and boy it was crowded. I couldn't believe it. We had such a good time, we chatted until everyone left and they still did not ask us to leave. Wonderful service. 2nd to none. The food (Pork lion) was excellent and so was the nutty salad. Yum. The wine list has some interesting drops that are brilliant. It is one thing to expect something great, but to experience it... Something else.

A very nice trendy little cafe/restaurant located in the State Buildings, St George's Tce/Barrack St. Great place for a coffee which went down a treat. A very nice menu was available for lunch with an assortment of size and priced dishes. Great service and the food was excellent if priced a little on the high side for the serve, however, everything was fresh and cooked perfectly.

Beef tartare - crisp is great but gets soft quick. Extra pinch of salt and pepper would be great. Chicken breast - sauce is overpowering Watermelon - with cheese? Definitely not matching... Sparkling - great one, where can I buy?

Duck Liver Parfait! Need I say more? Couldn’t eat enough of this dish! The brocolli Salad was also pretty outstanding! Love this hip place. Definitely a great resto for someone visiting Perth. Best to book in advance otherwise you’ll sit in the bar like we did cause we walked in.

Flawless! It's a rare occasion when we eat a chef's menu and every dish is good. That's what happened tonight at Petition. You pick a main and the chef will choose 7 other dishes to share and go along with it. It was great how even the most simple of dishes would be packed with flavour. Some restaurants are all about the presentation but the flavours are not there. It's not like the dishes at Petition are not well presented (because they are), they are just not trying to be flashy for the sake of it. Also, get the Margarita. It was delicious.

Never had fried eggs before! Delicious. The hardest part about this venue is trying to find where to enter. Both doors say (use other main entrance)….. an arrow on the side door near the “main entry” might be helpful to point people through the main door with no signage (I almost walked away). Glad I persisted as it was a memorable breakfast and good coffee. I did sit in restaurant with an empty water glass for close to an hour and the venue wasn’t busy. When I asked where to pay the waiter said “do it on the way out” in a short sharp tone even though he was next to a cashier. Diminished what was a nice breakfast.

Absolute loved it. 😍 The ambience and vibes were absolutely perfect for lunch date with my Wife. The chefs special was one hell of a course. Service was exceptional and the staff there were lively as ever. Loved the experience ! Would definitely recommend anyone and everyone to come atleast once in your lifetime or else you are missing alot.

Insanely delicious food! Every single dish we ordered was a delight. On top of that the interior is beautiful and the staff warm and attentive. We arrived 1 hr early for a pre-drink at the bar and they were able to seat us straight up with two glasses of sparkling wine on the house (for our anniversary). I'll be taking all my Perth visitors here :)

Just visited the Petition for breakfast. Greeted upon arrival by Emily and then table service by Valentina. Both were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was fantastic. We had the special with was poached eggs on toast with advocado and tomatoes and Beans with poached eggs and potatoe gratin. Plus 2 coffees. Good value too for this cool venue. Well done guys, great effort.

Short weekend getaway to Perth, came based on a recommendation from a mate. Food was absolutely delicious, service from our hilarious Irish waiter Simon was top notch, yummy cocktails and lively vibe atmosphere. Food are designed to share for the table. We went for the chef's selection and made it an adventurous night. Fav was the pea risotto and roast chicken, both flavourful and well cooked. The only feedback was the plates were not changed between courses which meant interference of spices from other dishes did tant the over flavour and experience.

First time petition. It's a nice place with good food but i didn't like table settings there bcoz between tables are quite close, so no much privacy. Staffs were nice but seems busy even its monday. I hope they can improve their service better next time!

Came here on a Thursday night 3 weeks ago based on all the great reviews but was disappointed, took them 20min to take our drinks order even though wait staff were standing at the pass chatting. The cocktail I ordered is officially Perth's most boring cocktail, as pictured, basically a mixed drink in a glass. Food wise the polenta chips were lovely, the duck leg confit was pretty good but the Cajun pork dish needed more sauce or something as the dish seemed a bit dry. The broccoli salad is served cold, it was just ok.

Had lunch @ Petition for the very first time today and it was absolutely amazing! Our waitress Shristi was friendly and attentive and we had the chance to see her handling a difficult customer in the most professional way. We really enjoyed food and service here. Scallops were to die for. Kudos guys ❤️

One of those places with standout dishes that you return for, but the standard of the food across the board is not quite at the 5/5 level. I really like the use of local ingredients cooked in rather creative ways. In particular the ricotta gnocchi was excellent. Service was hit and miss but they were also running at full capacity and it was better when I came for brunch.

  • 5/5 Amos T. 1 year ago on Google
Love the place, the music , atmosphere, food and overall vibes is amazing. Highlight of the meal for us was the scallop ceviche which was one of the best food we had in Perth. Beef cheeks and mash is good as well. 5 stars from us and keep up the good work!

Our experience was nice at Petition. I enjoyed the broccoli and mixed grain salad. It had many different ingredients to add crunch and flavour to the dish, between the grapes, nuts and seeds. It was a generous portion and very filling. The food tended to vary as my companion ordered the same dish but found hers had more acidic notes and was more overpowered with dressing. I personally did not like the flatbread as I was not aware when I ordered it that it would have a pastry base. The service was polite and efficient. A nice experience overall

If you are into natural wines this will be your heaven. They have an amazing selection of natural wines, I enjoyed the dark ambient of the bar, cool vibes. Definitely recommend to try Jauma Grenache and MUZ vermouth, you won’t regret 😀. Broccoli salad was also very delicious!

  • 5/5 Nate M. 1 year ago on Google
The service and atmosphere made for a very easy start to the morning. I had the poached eggs and salmon with the sauce on the side. Like any breakfast with wilted spinach it is hard to not have wet toast, which detracts from the crunch of the fantastic break. The eggs, salmon, sauce and toast were all cooked very well. The spinach could be drained a little more, or presented in the side. Fantastic coffee, I'd try Petition again.

Love this bar. Very chill and cosy. Service and food is great. However I don't like that I couldn't pay with cash. As a tourist I try to use cash and not my card as it gets charged more after converting.

At Petition, the restaurant service shines with its commendable quality. The staff members are attentive and efficient, ensuring a pleasant and smooth dining experience. However, regrettably, the food fell short of expectations and left me disappointed. The flavors lacked the desired depth and the dishes failed to deliver the anticipated culinary satisfaction. Overall, while the restaurant service at Petition is praiseworthy, the food aspect leaves something to be desired. Hopefully, the kitchen can work on enhancing the dishes to match the excellence of their service in the future. 😊

It was an oversight on my side (didn't read the menu carefully) that I didn't realise Petition's version of Shakshouka comes with a single fried egg on top. I was expecting a traditional shakshouka with poached eggs instead; still good though! On the pricier side as some have mentioned already.

  • 2/5 Lisa S. 2 months ago on Google • 4 reviews New
If you like your shakshuka made of shop bought feta cubes, jarred pickled capiscum and tough tomatoes with the skins left on, then this is the place for you! Service was ok but I have cooked much better myself. I picked around the feta, tough tomatoes and the tomato skins. A little bit more effort made with quality produce would have raised this dish substantially. Clearly no-one that cares on the pass and the cooks certainly don't.

I will not go there anymore.. I only go there with booking, but the reception will still let me wait and everytime same story ,, oh sorry someone spill wine ... the lady who served us the champagne doesn't know how to handle the glass and let it bobble half way ... shame shame shame ... I can write more if you want ...

(Translated by Google) A very good dining experience. It is definitely one of the must-visit restaurants in Perth. The service is cordial and stress-free. The atmosphere of the decorations is also full of texture. The environment is clean, the meals are fresh, and the ingredients and seasoning are creative and full of surprises. Bartending is also unique and full of its own unique charm. Pick an unpopular time and taste it carefully, otherwise this restaurant is really difficult to book. It's a pity that the light is dimmed, and I can't take more stable food photos under low light. Maybe... "Taking a good photo" can be one of the reasons to visit again during the day.

Really cool little place. Coffee was excellent. Both of them. Service was really good even through the huge number of people showing up for their morning coffee. I ordered the thing with the bun and the bacon and hash brown and egg. It was hard to eat but worth it. More bread than I would normally like (too much bread to bacon ratio). But that's just a picky preference. So five stars and I'd love to go back and try some of the other breakfasts.

Over our long weekend we had breakfast and dinner. Petition is a favourite restaurant for me, especially for breakfast. There are always some unique dishes and interesting flavours. The service is consistently good, polite, attentive and friendly. It is getting busier all the time and you are now best to pre book. Difficult to do a walk-in. Service needs a bit of work - wine glass removed without an offer of a top up, one dish forgotten twice, dishes removed from table before the food was finished. Main server was lovely and gave it her best shot - mainly let down by surrounding floor team. Getting there :)

Great place! Our go-to breakfast and lunch! The staff were friendly and the service was good. They change manus during the day, depends what time you get there. Breakfast serves until 12:00, after that will be another menu. Great choices both for breakfast and lunch options. Amazing quality of products and ingredients.
