I booked the hotel for the night to celebrate my birthday with my girlfriend. The room was great. I got a complimentary bottle of wine and cocktails in the rooftop bar. They even brought up a piece of cake to the room. It’s the second time I stayed and I love the place. It’s stylish, great location. Clean. And affordable.

Reached early to drop off our luggages and the counter staff informed that will check us in if the room's ready; fair enough. Came back a few hours later to check on the status and was told that there is no early check in if bookings were through third parties and the lady was rather rude about it. Would have preferred if they stated this up front and we could have planned other activities.

Very comfortable accommodation. Impressed by the cleanliness of the room, daily housekeeping. Very friendly and helpful staff. The restaurants at the complex offer a great variety of choices, a tad expensive, but, its Perth, mining boom hangover. I highly recommend the Japanese Ramen bar. Affordable, great tasting food. Although their alcoholic offerings, plum wine in a can, and 1 variety of beer need a rethink. Overall I give the Melbourne an 8 out of 10.

Nice venue. We used only the function room which included catering. Did was deep fired and pastry type and was nice quality. Room was a bit cold but once we worked out the air conditioning controls, it was fine.

Everyone there was very friendly and helpful. Service was great. Room was good. would have been great if we had a view. Everything very clean. Ventilation in bathroom could have been better as it steams up a lot with a nice hot shower. Location was good too.

Enjoyed everything about this hotel! Our room was enormous, nicely renovated with a great view of downtown Perth. Room was also squeaky clean and bed/linens were great. Location was also exceptional as we were within easy walking distance of tons of shopping and dining. Would definitely stay here again!

Located in the center of CBD Perth this Hotel offers great accommodation. The room I had in the “old” part of the building was modern equipped. Great bed, enough space and beautiful designed bathroom. Small fridge and water cooker with tea and coffee complementary. The staff was friendly and helpful in any way. I can highly recommend this hotel.

A very good CBD hotel. Modern & contemporary interiors but our room (Deluxe Premier) was on the small size. Good for one or two nights only. Some facilities (rooftop bar) were not available during our 3 day stay. Quiet location but easy access to lots of nearby eateries and sights.

We took a gamble not knowing about the hotel but we’re pleasantly surprised. The reception was efficient, I was pleased with the room as well. We didn’t have a balcony room but felt ours was larger and more accommodating. The hotel was in an excellent position close to Hay St mall and other restaurants in the area. Breakfast in the morning was good.

Stayed here recently for a concert at RAC Arena, super convenient. Lovely modern hotel, room was super clean, cocktails were super yummy. Des at the front desk was so welcoming and accommodating she really made our stay memorable. 5/5 stay, will be returning.

Went for a corporate seminar. Great facility close to parking and food provided at tea times and lunch was awesome. Unique feature was the wall that turned into a bar for after meeting drinks ... No need to mingle with non seminar customers. Great experience always

The room we had was nice and clean but I wouldn't say value for money. Had breakfast in the cafe which is where I found the service a bit poor, reception on the other hand were very friendly and helpful. The food in the cafe was also a bit average. Quite a nice hotel all in all but again it should have been for the price we paid.

Love the melbourne. Always friendly staff. Clean rooms and always luxury. The downstairs bar would recommend as you get pints and nice wine just shutting time is early. The bar upstairs unless you like cocktails and wine its nice but pricey and also shuts before 11pm when it's quiet.

Lovely spacious and clean room, well appointed. Super friendly service. Slightly quieter part of town and that's how we like it. Love the roof-top bar.

Ideal place for wedding. Vows took place on rooftop garden which has a bar. Finger food after ceremony. Reception took place downstairs in function room. There's a cafe downstairs for breakfast etc. Nearly all family and friends booked rooms so there was no drinking and driving. Hotel has arrangement with Wilson's parking that hotel guests pay $10 a day for parking, a lot cheaper than Uber or taxi. Bridal party saved by not having bridal cars.

Fantastic service, Great rooms, Brilliant food. You could easily book a stay and not even have to leave the premises. Being a close to the heart of the city it’s a great place to stay for any reason

Had a surprisingly inexpensive meal here in the very expensive looking Chinese restaurant on the ground floor of the fully renovated hotel. The service was excellent the food sumptuous and facilities second to none, we could not have been happier. 😀👍 We popped up to the rooftop bar after the meal. Great views. See photos.

i recommend making the deposit pricing easier to find. I wanted to use the “complementary” hair straightener but when i asked for it found out it was a $300 deposit which i never saw any information on. I didn’t bring my own hair straightener as i thought i would be able to use the one there but wasn’t prepared to pay $300.

Great great experience. I was invited and comp'ed the meal by our host. Everything about this dinner was flawless. Table- side service was a nice addition to the experience. Majority of dishes was served buffet style to self serve from a lazy susie... our host took care of the ordering for our group of 10. Delicious and decadent. Few foto's were taken!! Which was a first!! Everyone was so enthralled and expectant as each dish came to the table. The tooth fish was a clear fav, followed by the lobster, peking duck pancakes and beef. 9 dishes in total.

We had a very late flight and arrived at 2am, we were welcomed by a very helpful receptionist who got us booked in and into our room with no delays so we could shower and sleep, the room was spacious and quiet, breakfast went till 11 am so it was perfect for 2 weary travellers. We will stay here again and can recommend the hotel Thanks for the experience.

Television channels weren't working for majority of my stay which was annoying. I was offered a complimentary breakfast because of this. Cleanliness of my room wasn't great, particularly soft furnishings carpet and furniture, under bathroom vanity was gross, dirty tissues and hair (not mine).

I checked out several days ago and I wanted to follow up and share my experience. The hot water was not “working” is the adjustment was left in the middle. It was warm. But no hot water. Don’t care what your maintenance folks say. If you cracked it all the way to the hot side. It came out cold. I was shocked when I received my invoice. The rate that was provided was not held through the entire invoice. As a matter of fact, the rates were almost twice what I was paying. It’s ridiculous that you would charge this kind of money. I purchased a berry muffin from the coffee shop downstairs. While I was waiting, I looked at the glass case housing the muffins… it was filled with fruit flies. It was disgusting. I’m contemplating passing this along to the health department. I was disappointed with the bed incident . King bed consiting to 2 extra long twins? Really? Bush League. I won’t be coming back next week. I’m going to look for another alternative near our office.

We have stayed in this hotel many times now and always enjoy it. We did note with this stay though the lack of air flow in the room, even with the air conditioning on high the room was hot and still. Thankfully the windows opened slightly. Also en-suite needed ventilation. There is a sign stating there will be a $750 call out fee if the steam from the shower sets off the smoke alarm however there is basically no fan there taking the steam away. Can we also have a full length mirror please. Other than that we always love our time in this beautiful old building. Such a treat. Staff are always 10/10 too See you soon The Melbourne

The rooms facing the atrium well is latticed with steel for privacy, this is bit-of-a-damper or gloomy for a three night stay. Room access pass did not work multiple times for the three days I stayed and had to come down from the 5th floor each time to get another new pass, that was a bit annoying. Great cafes at the lobby level, all of them are good. Location wise is good/more to the west CBD, a good 15 minutes walk to the Northbridge restaurants. Overall, I will give this hotel a 4 star.

We really recommend that you be fully aware that there was a following very terrible issue where we were additionally charged AUD250 just based on the hotel's discretion even though we haven't done anything wrong at all. They didn't listen to us at all and it was really sad and bad memory for us. My wife and I stayed the hotel for two nights from October 21st, 2023, and checked out on the 23rd. There were no problems when we checked out, but after that, an additional AUD 250 was charged on my credit card. We went directly to the hotel and asked them to cancel this, but the hotel claimed that we had smoked marijuana in the room. It was really shocking. We've never ever smoked marijuana in our entire life. In addition, we haven't never smoked cigarettes or anything like that. We kept insisting that this was an impossible, unbelievable and totally false accusations. But they didn't listen to us at all, and just told us that there was no need for them to listen to what we were insisting. We got really angry and insisted that they should at least provide a proof because it was too one-sided claim, but the hotel only replied that there was no need for them to provide any evidence. We were really at a loss and my wife kept crying, but the hotel manager kept slightly smiling, just insisting that we did marijuana in the room. This was my first trip to Australia and it turned out to be a really bad memory. Really sad. I really hope that something like this will never happen again to anybody in the world.

Nice room except that the premier courtyard room we booked looks on to a gloomy courtyard that other guests can see into so we can’t even have the blind open. The restaurant De Baun and Co was so loud and tiny that we didn’t even stay for our booking and had to go back to the room to work out where we could eat. The roof top bar Aurora and is only open Friday from 4pm. Don’t bother booking to stay here. Not worth the $262 we paid. So disappointed ☹️

Didn't know what I was expecting, but the place far exceeded that. The rooms were great and spacious, service from Des at check in was great. Popped down for breakfast on my last morning expecting expensive hotel breakfast, but it was well priced and the waitress was very friendly.

Very classy hotel, interior if lobby / restaurant area exposed work from the original building. Good bar and restaurant. Recommend considering this as an option if you plan to stay in the city.

My husband and I stayed here on 2 separate occasions during our recent trip to Perth. We love the concept of blending new with old and the respect shown to parts of the building that has been there since the 1800's. Be mindful that in the name of modern, some of the rooms are very open with not doors on bathroom or toilet. We had a great meal and service at the Grand Orient Restaurant there. Being at the top end of town there are not as many restaurants that are within walking distance, at least for us oldies. But, it's right next door to Avis.

Disappointing, can’t believe this is a 5 star hotel. Bathroom door didn’t close. No ventilation in bathroom. Told to keep door closed for steam to not set off fire alarm. Steam in bathroom for hours after shower so nowhere to get ready. Shower cap replaced by sanitary bag. Cobwebs in corner of window.

We went for an evening event. I do not favour the concept of alternate drop. When you pay a lot for a meal it is only right you choose what to have. However, on this occasion there was no atmosphere and the food was not anything special. The staff were great.

Rooms clean and well presented and staff efficient and friendly. Only downside for us was reduced hours of food and beverage service in the bar area. Would definitely recommend

I totally understand the early check in being charged extra but an 2 hour delayed checkout changed as well after eating and drinking in the hotel. Most Hotels offer a late checkout complimentary to encourage customers to return. I was thinking about rebooking a business trip with my husband but not now.

Nice room, uncomfortable bed. Friendly staff but shared elevator with cleaning staff confusing. Putrid smell in lobby area that no one apologized for.

Felt it was over priced for the size room we had. The few chanels of foxtel that we had kept getting interrupted because of signal. They do have parking at the back. We were charged a rude amount for the few days which yeah ok I guess fair BUT they should let people know of the cost before you go to pay on checkout. From my personal experience I will not be returning..

Not what it promotes itself to be. Issues abounded from the start with check-in! # Room booked solely in my name, I didn't nominate if anyone else was staying with me. # At quarter to 4pm I walked from work across the road to the hotel to check-in to meet my partner there at 4 pm. To my amazement, he'd been able to check in without having any identifiable proof that he was related to or approved by me to be given access to the room booked only in my name. Too bad if I'd have been trying to escape him for domestic reasons! Which very fortunately I wasn't. The room was nice 'til we discovered... # torn sheet on the bed # broken window blind fitting # half used sleeve of pills under bed # evidence of dried splashes around base of toilet # scraps of paper under vanity # cracks and gaps around skirting boards # crunchy towels # nowhere to hang towels after use # nearly bowled over by a staff member as he was coming out of the lift (to deliver the replacement sheet for our room) whilst engrossed with his mobile phone # billed twice for same food service at the rooftop bar The duty manager was very professional in listening to the issues and taking action saying he spoke to reception staff to remind them about proper check-in protocols. However, there's other good hotels in Perth to avail before considering going back there again. Seems like administrators are taking advantage of prime location but with little concern for quality assurance. The roof top bar is excellent, great staff and city views but pricey. Downstairs bar great sports bar. Haven't used the restaurants. We stayed in standard double room in the old building side in June 2021.

We had our wedding at the Melbourne hotel (11/12) and it could not have been better. We had to reschedule due to Covid twice but recently it went ahead without a hitch. The wedding coordinators were helpful, friendly and have a vision of what looks good and what is needed. We were made to feel special for our whole stay. We stayed in a beautiful suite with balcony. It was perfect for getting ready on the day and for taking gorgeous photos. The ceremony was in the Aurora rooftop & reception in the Karringal ballroom. Both locations are stunning. Food and drink were amazing. Fresh and tasty choices, just lovely. All the staff from front reception to the waitstaff on the day/night were very friendly but professional. Everyone was great. We highly recommend The Melbourne Hotel.

Hotel was very elegant with modern design and architecture. Close to restaurants and cafes too. The room was comfortable (especially the king bed they arranged for us) and they were very kind to leave my partner and I with a bottle of wine for our anniversary. However, we were a tiny bit disappointed by the dirty windows and small blemishes such as the fire sprinkler that looked like it was just a hole in the ceiling. Overall our stay was really enjoyable as the staff were very generous and accommodating and the room was very reasonably priced.

We had our wedding reception at Grant Orient. The service and food were excellent. The hotel front desk ladies were exceptional as well. My only complain is that the events team was not great at all. Things that I requested was either a No or I have to out source myself. I had to wait for few days to get a reply as she is a part timer. Please don’t expect to get an upgrade with your room even you’re doing a wedding in their hotel. I had to pay extra to upgrade my room as the room I got initially was dark and facing their restaurant.

Very good. Just a couple of things to know before you arrive, however: the parking can be tricky and the coffee shop has weird hours and weirder management. Don't try getting coffee on Sunday after 11; apparently no customer ever has asked for that. They will direct you to a pokey coffee shop over the road. That might be okay if it is not raining, but don't make the mistake to stay overnight when it might be raining in the morning or you might end up as wet as the coffee you are after.

The price including breakfast was great value for money and the rooms are very comfortable and modern. The whole place has a wonderful feel to it with the mix of old and new together. Great location! This is our second stay there and highly recommend to anyone thinking about staying in Perth

I wasn't allowed to go inside, however from what i could see inside it is a real classy joint. my pal Tate Pearce was at a function parallel to my loitering and he said that he had a great time from what i can decipher. Every diner seemed happy from my glance. Keep up the good work The Melbourne Hotel.

Was very loud, music was loud, bar staff couldn't here when you ordered you had to point to the beer you wanted.. Bar upstairs which is lovely but no TV, just music.. We had a feed which was ok.. calamari was chewy but the duck spring rolls were awesome. We also had chicken tacos & they were bloody delicious. Overall it was ok but left with a headache.

I am giving 4 stars across the board for The Melbourne hotel. Minus 1 on rooms because although cool they lack any real place to put your clothes. I switched room. Minus 1 on service because apart from 1 superstar the staff were not particularly happy or engaging. It really felt like a chore when you asked for help. Location is great, the hotel has an fantastic Ramen attached and great Chinese restaurant. Unfortunately the hotel common areas upstairs smell like a Chinese restaurant, you get use to it but still. Missed house keeping on Sunday but I think that is more of Perth thing than hotel as I was in the room until 12, which was a shame as it was my last day. One member of staff "Des" was absolutely incredible always making eye contact, smiling and helping make my stay better. Over time the best hotels in the world are know for the key staff - the doorman at the Ritz in London, the concierge at the George V in Paris- this is that person for the Melbourne Hotel. Not only welcoming guests and solving problems most days but shaking drinks at the roof top bar on Fridays. When I come back to Perth if Des is still there so will I be! Thanks for a great 2 weeks.

First of all, some truths so everyone understands I am not just going full sour grapes here. I could not make my booking because my mother had urgent heart surgery and I completely forgot to change my booking. This is my fault. Stuff happens when things go wrong suddenly. Fair enough, I thought. Own the error ring the Melbourne I am sure they will have some compassion and can help out. I wasn't asking or entitled to a refund as a part of my booking. I understood this. I requested some leniency, perhaps a hotel credit, or a change to my booking for another day in the future. The front desk was kind and tried to help so went to the manager for assistance. Rather than conceive this might be an extraordinary circumstance the management at the Melbourne send their staff back with instructions that I should call Qantas as my booking had a price difference and they should manage it. Great, let's wait online with Qantas for an hour and a half for support. Then Qantas calls The Melbourne for assistance, and instead of figuring out how to help The Melbourne tells the Qantas helpdesk that I am a no-show and that I cannot get any support. So why did you bother sending me to Qantas? Also, notice I am posting this at less than 15 minutes past normal check-in for what would have been the second day of my stay? Did you just send me on a merry-go-round so that you could take the second day's funds as well? Smooth. Talk about poor form, you should be ashamed of yourselves. Anyone else reading this, I would suggest that you book with anyone else. Even the Qantas team said it was ordinary that no support or help was offered. This amazes me considering Qantas's current run of customer service. If they think you aren't very good what hope have you got. Any other time of any other scenario in any other week, I bet that this is an incredible establishment with excellent service. Sadly, this time, rules beat common sense, and management hid behind their staff while giving substandard advice.

We love it here, close to excellent resteraunts, Hay St & Murray St shopping. Rooms are a good size, great bathroom with plenty of room to move. Pub is great and they do a really good breakfast.

From check in to checkout these guys provide a very smooth process. Rooms are very comfortable and they provide an unusual pillow service where you can call down for a different pillow type, make and profile; a very novel and excellent service. Rooms are very well appointed and if you book a room with a stand alone bath, take provisions to last all night, because you won't want to get out. We dined at the in house restaurant The Grand Orient. Very traditional and authentic cuisine, pricey and worth it We'll be back, miss it already.

Fabulous hotel that is a little bit quirky. The accommodation is quite luxurious for the price, not quite central, but everything you need is a short stroll away. I had a delicious breakfast - Eggs Benny, of course. There's a good bar downstairs, apparently there's a rooftop bar and I've heard the on-site Japanese restaurant is the best around for crispy peking duck. We didn't have time to explore these, unfortunately, but will definately go back to try them out.

We hosted our wedding at the Aurora Rooftop over the weekend and it couldn't have been more perfect. The whole team at the Melbourne Hotel went above and beyond to ensure we had the best weekend. A special call out to Telia and Lisa for always being available leading up to the event for questions/suggestions. The hotel itself is amazing. While some of the rooms are on the smaller side they each have an amazing fit out. The Rooftop is a perfect venue for an event.

Great location, check in was great. Room: average size but suited us. Bed was extremely comfortable. The only negative was the shower was supposed to be a combination Rain Shower and Handheld. The hand held part didn't work. We didn't eat at the restaurant but the bars were great. The only negative was they closed so early.

The architecture of this hotel is most interesting as the incorporate the heritage part with the modern tower very well. The rooms both old and new section are very well appointed, large and comfortable with some nice thoughtful touches. The housekeeper and the engineering department needs improvement. At a rate close to $400.00 u'd expect your room to be done every day not every second day. The shower and AC in the room do not work well and are complicated to operate. The coffee shop location in a passage way off the lobby is a poor design for a want to be 5 star hotel.

We stayed for 3 nights over the weekend of our wedding and the team couldn't have been more accomodating. Everyone was genuine, friendly and always ready to help in any way they could. The room was modern, clean and with some extras that were a lovely touch. We would definitely recommend them to friends and are so thankful we chose the Melbourne Hotel. Thanks again!

Disapppointing. The room was nice, Although there was a damp smell, but the restaurant and rooftop bar closed on a sunday of a long weekend. One of the reason for staying here was the roof top bar. The only restaurant that is open is a Ramen place that is accessed from outside. Its so popular though you can't get in, no priority for staying at the hotel. We ended up getting room service that was terrible. The fish tacos were inedible This was our 2nd stay here and such a let down from the first stay, we wont return

My partner made the booking, but I was due to arrive earlier. Even with my details, and a copy of my ID, having been provided by my partner I was treated with suspicion. Was asked to provide a credit card for security deposit, which I have no issues with, however it took 30 seconds for them to take a deposit but upon check-out I was informed that it would take 6 days for it to be returned. When I queried this time frame I was then informed it could be up to 3 weeks. And that if I hadn't received it within 10 days I could call and they would send a "fax" to the bank. Overall was not impressed with the service or the attitude of staff. Outdated information, small rooms for a hefty price, and overpriced limited options for breakfast. Would not stay again, ever.

Late check out by 12pm will be another $50. Be prepare to hurl your own luggage into your room. If you go in pairs, you will only find 1 toothbrush in the toilet, so pls ask for another set. You will share lift with the crew working in hotel so wear your mask 😷 in the lift to keep all safe. Other than that, we had a ok stay.

We stayed in the contemporary king room from the 27th Dec to 1st Jan. Booked the hotel based on the photos on the website, reviews and location. Was disappointed with the size of the room and surprised with the rating. The room is tiny! It doesn’t feel luxurious or has any special features. Furnitures are basic. For the amount of money we paid I regret not choosing another hotel. It feels like a 3 star hotel! The location was good. However there are plenty of other modern hotels within the same vicinity. Check out was 10am which is very early! We weren’t informed of this during check in too. We also paid and attended the NYE party at the hotel’s rooftop bar. Rather disappointing. On the invite it stated the event will end at 1am. We were asked to leave at 12.30am. Unfortunately I will not be recommending this hotel.

The rooms are always fantastic. Very clean and up to date. Even when booking last minute the rooms they have are still fantastic. The staff are always friendly and helpful and will have you checked in quickly. Room service is great and so is the food. The location couldn’t be better, right in the centre of Perth with both a bus stop and temporary parking out front. Around the corner is secure parking at only $10 a day on weekends. The prices here are great especially for what you get.

Staff were lovely & super accommodating as we arrived an hour early! Rooms weren’t very spacious but made up for it with the huge luxurious bathtub! Perfect location for restaurants & entertainment such as the Comedy lounge or Flight club!
