🫤 Such a bummer. The reviews looked brilliant, but it didn't live up to the hype. The views were great, wine list was extensive, but unfortunately the food wasn't much to talk about. Everything was just a bit bland. People often mention good, staff, service, great, coffee, friendly, restaurant, delicious, amazing, menu,

Took my wife and daughter expecting a top Italian restaurant. Whilst it was reasonably good food, the menu was very limited and frankly not very Italian and seems a bit of a mish mash of other cuisines. The ravioli dish though was outstanding. The surroundings are beautiful. Bit hot inside on a summer evening but cool enough if you sit outside next to the Swan. Very expensive too.

Unfortunately, I will never be returning. I had booked Amanos Restaurant for my birthday dinner a few weeks before and having read amazing reviews on the food and the view I was hooked. Confirmed the table for the night - easy. Firstly, When asked by the manager (or potentially the owner) how everything was I was hesitant to mention the wait time. He asked again and so I told him the wait time was too long. Immediately he got defensive and said well it comes out an hour after the entree. I had left it and said ok that’s fine. You’d think he’d stop there. I wasn’t trying to be rude, I was merely giving him feedback as per his question. He kept pestering me and pestering about it. My two other friends on the table intervened and he was not happy. Which is fine. If I were him I would have explained politely and to be honest I would have just accepted his response. Next, there is No split billing. You’re kidding me. 12 people booked in and not able to split the bill. I had to pay it all on my card. We are in 2020 sort it out. Thirdly, As we were leaving he wasn’t going to say goodbye (he was standing at the door) I said “thank you have a good night” being polite as you would do regardless of the experience. He began saying goodbye then ended up swearing at my friends and I as we left. I’m disappointed. I Truly hate to be writing this, but if you ask for feedback and you can’t react politely no matter what it is then you need to reconsider being in hospitality. Many of my friends and I have worked in busy kitchens with long wait times and rude customers. I’ve never been rude back nor have I ever back chatted a customer for their opinion that I asked for. I would advise people to go else where. This mans behaviour was unnecessary and ruined the evening for us all.

Came here for dinner the other night and had a nice experience. Friendly staff, good view right over the river, and delicious food. Prices were reasonable given the location, especially in comparison to competitor venues such as those in the Ritz. We had an oyster each to start, then the Kingfish and fettuccine allo scoglio, and a glass of Prosecco. Really delicious, and would come back to this place.

Beautiful view of the Swan River Would highly recommended sitting outside however, as it nears winter, I’d recommend a jumper/cardigan. Only down fall of sitting outside was the constant noise the jetty made. It was like a screeching noise of the jetty moving/rubbing from the movement of the water. The food was very tasty, a bit on the small side in regards to portion size. The dessert we had was average, would choose another option if we went back. The cocktails and mocktails were good sized and tasty. The staff were very attentive and very helpful and knowledgeable regarding anything in the menu. Over all, a great experience And a lovely location for a date night.

A lovely spot on the swan river, polite and friendly staff that are happy to help and both whom were well informative. A Romantic ambiance and a touch of class making it very pleasant. We were excited to try their gnocchi (seen in previous reviews - this dish was served ‘pan fried’, however: like most, the menu is tweaked seasonal), and this time it was not. Regardless, we still enjoyed it. Meals are of good portion size for price point. Full or flavour and very well presented.

We came here on Saturday 27 April 2019, from the start friendly staff, lovely view of the swan river. The meals we had were so good and tasty we came back the next day. It is so refreshing to have Italian food that takes you back to Italy. Plus its not your average pasta dishes here, perfectly cooked and just the right amount. Ended up having 3 courses. There is a great range of italian wines. Location is great, however parking not so, however there is a close car park nearby for a fee.

If there was 6 stars, we would have given it. Didn't know what to expect, though we had friends who'd eaten here and enjoyed the food. We were not disappointed and from the warm greetings through the paying the bill, the experience was first class. Staff were super attentive and knowledgeable, our waiter was French and was the nicest guy ever. Food was the best part.. we're both vegetarian and there were so great options and the food was divine. You have to experience the desserts to understand what they are, but our mousse, topped with smokey eggplant, arrived at the table with a glass jar, which when removed, was a visual delight. We'll definitely be back. September 2022 - Things have gone downhill! When we booked we told them that we were Vegatarian and vegan and have never had a problem eating here before and they have been accommodating for our dietary requirements. We booked 2 X weeks ahead and told them our dietary requirements. Not once did they say they can't accommodate vegetarian. I realise it's 100% our fault for not wanting to eat meat, and normally we eat if there's food we can eat, and if not we don't bother to eat, we certainly don't complain But the last visit was so different, we were expecting the same and to chance to eat some lovely Vegatarian Italian food and were so looking forward to it. There was however a complete inability to alter the menu, leave out some meat and make anything meat free for us. There was literally nothing except one dish..... Really poor experience. Is the food precooked and reheated? Is that why the meat cannot be left out??? Probably won't be back.... Way too expensive when there is simply no choice or the urge to at least try and feed your guests, perhaps why the restaurant was empty.

It was a perfect day to have lunch on the river at Amano. I had purchased a 3 course Groupon voucher with lots of choices for each course. The food was scrumptious and I ordered Pinot Grigio to accompany the food. Its a shame that the restaurant does not get sun on that side during lunch time, but still a fabulous view. Great service also with a friendly welcome on arrival. Thank you to all the staff.

Nice Sunday afternoon overlooking the water. We were welcomed with friendly smile by the staff. I ordered the grilled eggplant marinated in miso with katsuoboshi. It was lovely, almost Japanese. Miso was light and not overpowering the other ingredients. My hubby ordered toothfish which was I think over priced and a bit small but delicious. It had a distinct taste, strong but not too fishy, tangy and well spiced. Olive starters was perfect, just plain olives which is how it should be. Lastly I had the best dessert ever and was thinking about it for hours - brioche pishatchio ice cream with chocolate sauce. It had the right balance of chocolate, that complemented the pistachio ice cream and the brioche. I was in heaven. My hubby had the affogatto and he said it was lovely, I didn't taste it as I don't drink coffee. Overall it was a fantastic experience.

Every time we have issues with split billing - not itemised billing, diving evenly. Spent $750 over 6 people and had a fight to divide between 5 payments.

Had lunch here because of all the great reviews. Beautiful location. Unfortunately, customer service is lacking. Staff were rude verbally and non verbally. Not family friendly at all. Our waitress made faces, talking to us like we had never dined in “fancy restaurants” before and slammed a glass on the table. If this was accidental, she certainly did not apologize for it or show it. One thing going for this place was the beautiful chilled, cold tap water, but they were reluctant to fill our glasses with it on such a hot day! Food was okay. Nothing to write home about. Most definitely won’t be returning EVER!

The octopus was tough and very strongly fishy. Didn't finish it for $37. We shared the rib eye steak for $85 and either it was frozen meat or it was not rested once cooked. It was very tough as all the juices had run out. The potatoes that came with the meat were like baked potato with no spice or anything. Totally uninspired my air fryer does better potatoes. The salad had a very interesting nutty dressing, sadly the best part of the meal. All dishes were very expensive. Service was very casual for such a pricey place - we had 4 different waitresses. The wood deck floor outside vibrated my chair every time they walked past which distracted me several times from conversation. Thankfully we had a voucher, it wasn't worth the money. I would have had a better quality and value meal at Nando's.

My partner and I came here on a whim for dinner as it was close to our hotel and we are SO glad we did. We got the $180 tasting menu between us - the food was more and more amazing with each dish that came. The oysters were huge and the octopus was the best we’ve had yet! Customer service was fast and efficient, our waitress was attentive and came back regularly to check on us. Couldn’t more highly recommend the dinner we had 😍😍

We came in as we stay in doubletree hotel just on side, i had no big hope , i thought another restau for tourists. So we had very nice surprise , we do not regret. Not only interesting food , well above average in Perth .... Drinks and wines well presented, nice choice. But top....looking at the boss....it is a full film not less good than louis de funes.....he is welcoming you in entry, once filled he moves towards kitchen ordering the staff as philharmonic orchestra.his hands movements, voice, mixture of italian and english....a full show !!! Stressful wonder. Bravo to the top staff coordination with attention to details. This team deserves Oscar medal.

Went there and did not feel good about the environment, certainly not so good place to eat in winter with those plastic covers protecting from the water. Ordered oysters and asked smaller amount of these, after feel dizzy and start swetting. Leaved the place to get some air and asked my partner to deal with a bill. Later discovered that we were charged higher amount of money for the oysters, but did not feel good to go back in and argue. So here is my "great" experience with you. About the food: "I can cook same style in home too". Sorry, but overpriced.

Hot Balmy Night, sitting alfresco on the Swan River, doesn't get much better. Started our evening with perfectly made "zesti" (frangelico, fresh lime on crushed ice" and some bread and olives. Entree we shared the slow gin cured salmon which was absolutely divine. Highly recommend.

Balissimo!!! Sensational and a joy to the palette. Gorgeously crafted meals. Plated like an episode of Master Chef. Tastefully decorated and intimately classy. Indoor and outdoor dining. Definitely not your run of the mill italian restaurant. It had the feel of seaside Italia. It actually made us think of the Italian restaurant in Nice France. We went for a Birthday Celebration and table service was 5 star. The owner personally explained the dishes, he was entertaining and funny. Made a world of difference to overall experience. The taste was delightful and delicious. Snazzy cocktails and wide selection wine list. Want to impress that special someone, think of choosing Amano Restaurant.

Delicious food and waterfront views - We brought a work group to the restaurant for a celebratory dinner, we sat outside close to the water and took in the beautiful view of the Swan River and Perth city lights. We enjoyed a delicious meal, sharing oysters as a group, many glasses (bottles) of good quality wine and if I can only recommend one thing I would say the tortelloni is a must have dish. So unique and delicious, a stand out on the menu. The service was impeccable and even as the restaurant began to fill up with patrons we were always attentively looked after. I can't wait to go back!

Amano was recommended for both good food and position; a great place on the pier at Barrack St jetty overlooking a picturesque sweep of the Swan River with passing yachts, speedboats and moorings nearby. A very relaxed setting. We shared fresh bread and oysters, entrees and mains. nice

I came here with the family to celebrate my husband's birthday. I really appreciate that they reserved us a good table overlooking the view of the river. The staffs were friendly and competent. We shared the entree which was the scallops, arranchini, and some pane. Love the scallops. The mains were good too. It's just, in my opinion I feel that the creaminess of my marinara pasta is a little too creamy, and it takes away the best of it. The bisque is too thick in it. But, I'm still happy for the overall service and the food. Still love this place.

I don't think I could explain how good this restaurant is. The food is fantastic and the service is great. My friend had arancini to start which was great. I had the squid in tortellini. It was amazing. The sauce was like a thick seafood bisque. Awesome. Main course was wagu beef for my friend. Absolute perfection. So tender and well cooked. Mine was the lamb pappadella. Super cream sauce with wild mushroom. Perth sunset what more could you ask. I couldn't rate this restaurant more highly than this. It's a perfect end to our week in Perth.

I would give one star but the chat potatoes and pumpkin ravioli were good. We came here after attending a late afternoon high tea, so weren't too hungry. I could have used the bread to build a house. Starters, all were horrible. Lamb croquettes, the sauce did not go well. Ceviche and Beef Carpaccio were bland. Ordered a Appletini only for it to come out tasting like lemon and gin! Askes for the bill, half an hour went by and it never came. And it was so hot I was sweating the whole time. We will not be back. Booked after reading reviews and was severely disappointed.

Tried this restaurant as it was on the water front. Beautiful views of the Swan river, lovely for a romantic meal. The staff although very busy were very friendly and welcoming. Ordered the sourdough, which was quite hard, could have done with warming up and the garlic butter not so garlicky. I had the lasagne which was very nice and my husband the pappardelle which although in my opinion was undercooked, he enjoyed.

The main let down for this restsurant was the wait for the food. We were the first customers to enter and be seated yet we watched many others around us be served before us. It took atleast an hour for food to arrive. We were starving. Granted, we had a table of 10 people. They may just not cater for large groups well. Food was okay. Staff were nice. Location was good.

It surprises me how different ones review can be from another. We were given a restaurant gift voucher from our kids for Christmas & the voucher had limited Resturants to choose from and Amanos was one of them looked nice give it a try. Unfortunately was not impressed with the food I’m sorry to say, the taste was good but my pasta was undercooked and I had to search for the muscles in the pasta they were some of the smallest I’ve seen, we ordered sourdough garlic bread which was a small twisted piece of sourdough bread that was hard enough to build a house out of and & it came with a dish which I assume was supposed to be some sort of garlic butter ( not very garlic at all) staff weren’t bad but very robot like not much of did you enjoy your meal? Hope to see you next time? How was everything not overly welcoming im sorry but this restaurant is not for me.

The good - location and wine selection The bad - even with the premium for the location, 95 dollars for the 3 courses given the quality was dissapointing. Ceviche looked nice though tasted strangely bland, solid enough gnocchi and again bland tasting pannacotta. Also with a party of 20 not allowing people to split bill to pay for wine was needlessly severe after we prepayed food, and communicated in a very unpleasant manner which killed some atmosphere. Magnificent location on the beautiful Swan River. Great food and fantastic wine selection of local and interstate wines. Bombe Alaska great crowd pleaser with sensational wait staff where it would seem nothing is too much effort. Thanks will be back minus the kids!

Food was beautiful, location on the waterfront was great but the best thing of all was the service from our Brazilian waiter.

Staff seen genuinely interested in getting food or appropriately arranging cutlery. Food was surprisingly better than I expected as was the coffee. One of the baristas was very helpful to make sure I was not recommended a batch brew when I recommended a pour over. The single origin range is not huge but has a unique taste. The cold and milk coffees seen to be best here as well as the signature drinks. Eggs are also well cooked. Only taking off a star because of the delay in food serving time and 1/4 of the seating (and air conditioning) being hogged by people just doing work for an hour with a single cup of coffee. Definitely worth a visit.

This place is known for their coffee. We went here for breakfast the other day. Food is decent and well presented. They are a bit inflexible with their meals - for example, if you order the big breakfast, you cannot swap out an element (such as mushrooms) for another element. It can get warm inside in summer mornings as the have east facing windows.

Fantastic came here for breakfast. The staff were friendly and efficient. Very quick service. I had a chai latte that was delicious and not too sweet. The la veen potato rosti i had was very tasty a good portion and gorgeous when served. Would highly recommend.

Absolutely and highly recommended place to indulge with a great coffee and brekky! Nice atmosphere and amazing staff! they have a range of plates however and the best part is you can customize your own brekky! the portion are reasonable big 🤣Look the pics and enjoy it soon

The food was good (a little too pricey), they have a good range of different coffees like batch brew and filter coffee. I would recommend the place for sure. The three stars are for the average ambiance and staff aren’t friendly.

The food is always spot on here, and so affordable for the amount you get. The vibe and staff are really friendly and helpful. Recommend the matcha latte. The bread that comes with the Shakshuka (pictured) is AMAZING. The mushrooms with the eggs Benedict are great too.

Best coffee in town. Service was excellent and very quick. Food was awesome, sourdough wasn't door stopper thick, which is hard to find. Highly recommend for breakfast. "We'll be back"

Good coffee, good food. Just super busy!!! Small space and too many people, no staff members were reminding customers to keep social distance. Very poor hygiene/ physical distancing practice. No sanitiser at the pay counter or entrance. I don't feel it safe place to visit.

I visit la veen about twice a week. The food is always delicious and comes out super fast. The coffee is incredible, arguably the best coffee in Perth. Staff are always really friendly and helpful. Overall just a joy to visit.

Not baby-friendly. I went there for breakfast but found out the didn't have high-chair for babies/toddlers. Had to feed baby in her pram. Not the best idea to take pram as its a little conjusted. Ordered Shakshuka, it was okayish... lacked middle-eastern taste.

Coffee was great but food needs improvement as below. 1 - Potato roastie was very tough outside and very difficult to cut through. No seasoning either i.e. even salt. $23 dollars for 1 roastie, poached egg and some mushrooms. 2. Poached eggs with Benedict and roastie was almost at boiled state inside. 3. Hollandaise sauce needed a bit of extra seasoning + a little bit of extra sause to get through the second slice of bread. Will I go back for coffee - Yes Will I go back for breakfast - No Feedback has been provided to staff as well.

Food was good, took a long time for it to arrive. For a cafe the iced latte left a lot to desired. The staff were very polite.

It is a place to get that European charm, blend with young crowd and enjoy quality coffee. Plenty of comfortable sitting areas for working on a laptop or writing a paper:)

I'm not a huge coffee fan, but their cold brew had a fruity flavour from their special Etheopian and Colombian coffee bean blend. I now have a greater appreciation for good coffee, even without milk or sugar, it was delicious. I had to try a dark chocolate mocha, which also had the special blend. It was really good too.

Ordered one large long black was 6.3 I think that’s too expensive for one black coffee. And it was just okay and a bit too bitter 😔

  • 3/5 Senseless 3 years ago on Google
Mediocre food, with prices that do not match the small portion sizes. Paid $26 and left hungry. The interior is quite uninspiring/boring and not well maintained.

This is one of my favourite restaurants on the river. The venue is beautiful and service excellent. The menu offers a good selection for dietary needs. I had the eggplant entree and fish and chips, both were delicious. I definitely recommend this restaurant and look forward to my next visit.

This place pops up on my FB ad and decided to give it a try since we are staying overnight at the Doubletree by Hilton Waterfront. Menu selections was just right, selecting choice of food was easy. Customer service was A++, very friendly and helpful. Serving you with a smile and making sure everything is fine. Food came out fast as well, fresh ingredients used and tasty with a twist. Recommended to book in advance if you coming as a group or just couples. Definitely worth the visit to enjoy they food and Swan River view.

Amazing food! Creative flavour combinations that might seem a bit risky but pay off! The food was cooked to perfection, the atmosphere and view was lovely and staff were very friendly and welcoming. We were pleasently surprised by the smokey flavour of the crispy eggplant chocolate moose, it's a must try!

One of the best dining experiences I have had in a long time. While I could talk about the food (waygu carpaccio was amazing), the pitch perfect service from the knowledgeable and attentive staff was a highlight that truly differentiated this from many restaurants. They made our experience a true delight.

Love the food and the fabulous staff at Amano. Visited today for the third time for an anniversary lunch. Had the best seat in the house with gorgeous views down the Swan River. Will definitely be visiting again. Special thanks to Trish and Sophia.

Beautiful views of the river - we sat outside right next to the jetty, watching all the charter boats come in and out. The staff were all very welcoming, attentive and knew the menu well. The pasta was delicious - my husband had the gnocchi and I had the lamb pappardelle. Portion sizes could have been a little bigger. For dessert we had the chocolate fondant (sooooo yummy & big) and the affogato. Cocktails were great and pretty generous lol. We will definitely be back, perfect location for a nice little stroll around Elizabeth Quay too.
