Hi My daughter ordered 2 North Atlantic Cod, sweet potatoe fries, onion rings and tartar sauce for take away at about 7pm tonight. Tartare sauce was missing. The fish batter and sweet potatoes were absolutely soggy with oil. Went to this shop due to the reviews. Seriously this is the worst of worst fish and chips I've ever eaten. Regards Devi

Very good fish and chips - there's a dining area outside in an alleyway. The squid rings are melt in your mouth freshness and the batter is crisp and light. One of the best fish and chips I've had.

Awesome fish & chips but the place is a little greasy. Funny how all the best fish & chips shacks are!

This is probably the best fish and chips I've ever had. Batter is light and fluffy, chips look like they're handcut? everything was really generous and using top quality ingredients.

This is probably one of the best fish and chip shops in Perth and definitely the best in the city. I loved the fish here, the batter was very crunchy and the meat just melted in your mouth the chips were also nice and were handcut. The shop itself is unique since it also has the space of the alley behind which gives it a novel eating experience with the street art next to the seating. I am definitely returning again in the future for more fish and chips :)

Best fish & chips in Perth. Owner was friendly & explained the type of fish and their taste. Service was great. We had the NZ hoki, Cod and SA Hake. The batter is the best I ve tasted. Thick enough to coat the fish yet thin enough not to overwhelm the fish and crispy on the sides. The curry sauce is like those from UK. The fishes were fresh . Price reasonable

Now the fish and chips is really good and I got the special with 3 big portions of fish served freshly cooked from the fryer, really fresh. If you can overlook the condition of the restaurant itself (which leaves a lot to be desired) come for the food.

Great fish & chips within the city! Not too busy as well on a weekday afternoon. May take a while to be ready, but everything was piping hot and fresh. I got a lunch box (a piece of fish and 2 calamari, with chips). Owner/chef was hilarious, made my afternoon 😂 Highly recommended!

They offer the best fish and chips in Perth. It tastes really good. Location is also nice so that it is always busy on weekdays. One thing I think can improve is the cleanliness of the restaurant. The restaurant doesn’t have a door so that anyone can easily come inside. Even people who don’t buy food sometimes enter and wander inside restaurant. Also, pigeons sometimes come and pick up a crum of food on the floor. They even aim to get the food on the table, which is a bit disgusting. If they can solve these issues, this will be one of the best restaurants in CBD in Perth.

Ok, so I will be the first to admit that I know nothing about fish and chips, but this was super tasty. I don't even like fish that much, but my wife wanted to eat some fish, so like a good husband I said "yes". I talked with the person who was cooking and asked what I should get, and he was super helpful. Then I ate it. I will so be coming back. It was so good! You have converted me!! Super delicious meal and really nice people working there. Great experience.

A place that does traditional UK style fish and chips. Ordered lunch pack which is fish and chips with 2 calamari rings and a choice of dipping sauce. The calamari rings were great! The fish was fine. I don't generally like when the fish starts falling apart. Fries were hand cut but too soggy and the pieces I got were tiny. Didn't like the fries to be honest. Too oily.

I wanted to eat out tonight and they claimed to be the best fish and chips in Perth – that's for me to decide! So, I tried it out, service was quick, and the staff were warm and friendly. The fish and chips were very good – it didn't seem greasy at all (i.e. properly drained), the fries were hand cut and cooked perfectly (crispy on the outside, fluffy and soft on the inside). By the time I finished, the fish was still crispy. I'll probably come back in the future and try something different.

Honestly one of the best fish and chips, I’ve had. The fish flakey and fresh and the batter was crispy. We got the seafood basket, the shrimp and the calamari succulent and delicious. Everything was served piping hot, just amazing!!!!!

Bottom of fish uncooked, chips not crispy and some under cooked. I understand that there could be some soggy ness with delivery but poking holes in the bag still wouldn't of made a difference to the soggy and oiliness of the food. I can feel oil all over my fingers and face

Very tasty! Fish was juicy, flaky and had a nice batter that didn’t make you feel sick after. Cheesy curry chips were sooo good reminded me of being back home in UK, complemented with a battered sausage. Owner was super friendly and informative

Awesome place tucked away in Perth City. Nice batter, eatable not oily. I brought 3 serves of Battered Prawns and they were just perfect. Also allowed me to buy a handful of chips as I don't eat many. I recommend the menu here any day of the week. - Allen Williams

Absolutely love the fish and chips! Everything is fried to perfection, and the chips are crisp on the outside but melts in your mouth. The lightly-crisped tempura-battered fish has a full-bodied flavour but it isn't overpowering or greasy. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal and would travel 100kms for this again, and even pay double. If you are a fan of fish and chips this is one stop you must not miss!

The cod was so well marinated and was still moist after being deep fried! It's culinary perfection! Calamari rings were well breaded and nice too! The serving was too huge for 1 person to finish but the hand cut chips were great!

The fish and chip is so delicious! The best I had in Perth! Super recommended! Price is reasonable also. The chef(or the boss) is so friendly and took time to recommend us the food. We had a pleasant experience in the restaurant.

Went here for a weekday lunch right on opening. On arrival the shop was a little late to open and not quite ready for service, but only by a 5 minutes. No big deal. The worker was very friendly and accomodating. Very informative and proud of his work. The restaurant was quiet due to the early hour. I ordered a mix of items including fish, chips, squid and sauces. The seafood was very nice and the chips had the real “chippy” quality that can be hard to find. They might have even been hand-cut? Look, there’s a lot of hype about this restaurant, and for the service, I think it’s warranted. Regarding the food, yes, it’s good, but I don’t know if it’s worth going well out of your way for. Though there’s some horrible fish and chip shops in Perth, I think many suburbs will have a comparable (or in very few cases better) fish and chip shop close by.

Yet another place with 5 star reviews that we thought we must try. It’s pretty decent fish and chips, but I don’t understand all these raving reviews. If I find myself in the CBD and was hungry, I might consider going here……. but maybe not. I’d say overall it’s a pretty average fish and chip shop.

Best one of the fish and chips in city noticed which I would do a frequent visit. It matches our taste requirements and the shop owner is wonderful guy who picks up what I really needed. Chips are cut from fresh potatoes which I liked the best!!

For when you need your English chippy fix. Real chips, proper curry sauce (English or Irish) plus some nice bonuses - Deep fried haggis and a cup of Yorkshire tea! Great job Grand Lane! I wonder if they do scraps on top...

Superb food and still the best after we get around Perth for a week. We make it again before heading back. Fish is a must and the chip is nice. Recommend the mushy peas as well.

It’s rare to get a good double-fried chip. This place does it fairly well although to be fair it could be crispier. It has a good oil taste if you like it a bit more pungent. They also have vinegar to spray it if you want it the way they have in Britain. Overall, I was very happy with this place. If you don’t have much to do, and you want a quick and satisfying snack, get a small chips to go

We had the Battered Pork Sausage and North Atlantic Cod. I would recommend both dishes. The batter was good and fish was flaky and fresh. It's nicer when I sprayed vinegar on it, as recommended by the owner. Service was welcoming and the owner was friendly as well.

Easily the best fish and chips in Perth! The fish is lightly battered and flaky while the chips are hand cut and perfectly fried. I usually never finish my chips when I eat F&C but when I come here I clean out the whole plate. I normally order the lunch box which comes with fish, chips, 2 pieces of calamari and a sauce of your choice. Pro tip: try their house made picked onion vinegar which goes perfectly with both the chips and fish!

I’ve been here over 20 times in the last 3 years. I’ve brought friends and family and they all agree it is easily the best fish and chips in Perth. Hand cut chips. Delicate, flaky, fresh fish. CLEAN oil. And all the trimmings that a good English chippy should offer.

Unassuming little place on Barrack Street. We sat in the front of the restaurant which was clean, light and airy. The Mrs opted for pan fried barramundi, onion rings and asian slaw while I had battered smoked cod, hand cooked chips and the slaw. Service at the counter was prompt and friendly. The chips were excellent, as good as any UK chip shop, the onion rings came in crispy light batter and the slaw was fresh and crunchy. The fish was the real star of the show. My cod was cooked just right, the batter was crispy and dry and the smoky taste shone through. The Barramundi was moist and perfectly cooked and all for $45

I recently had the pleasure of visiting a Grand Fish Lane that left me completely satisfied and craving for more. If you're a seafood enthusiast like me, this place is an absolute paradise for your taste buds! From the moment I walked through the door, I was greeted by a warm and inviting atmosphere. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, ready to assist with any questions I had. The aroma of freshly fried fish filled the air, adding to the anticipation of the meal to come. Now, let's talk about the star of the show—the fish and chips themselves. The fish was incredibly fresh and flaky, encased in a perfectly crispy, golden batter. Each bite was a delight, bursting with flavor and reminding me of the ocean. The chips were equally impressive fresh and perfectly cooked, and wonderfully seasoned. It was a match made in culinary heaven. One thing that truly stood out was the variety of fish, tacos and mushy peas. sourcing the best-quality seafood, and it shows in every bite. They also offered alternative options for those with dietary preferences, such as grilled fish ensuring that everyone can enjoy a fantastic meal. The portion sizes were generous, leaving me fully satisfied without feeling overwhelmed. They also had a great selection of accompanying sauces and sides, including mushy peas, tartare sauce, and curry sauce, enhancing the overall experience. I must also commend the attention to detail in their presentation. The food was served on a simple yet elegant platter, showcasing the vibrant colors and making it even more enticing. The shop was spotlessly clean, creating a pleasant dining environment. Lastly, the prices were reasonable for the quality and quantity of food provided. It's evident that this fish and chip shop cares about its customers' satisfaction and offers excellent value for money. In conclusion, if you're looking for the ultimate fish and chip experience, look no further. This shop combines fresh, flavorful fish, expertly cooked chips, and a welcoming atmosphere to create a dining experience that you won't soon forget. I wholeheartedly recommend it to any seafood lover or anyone seeking a delightful meal. You won't be disappointed!

Yesterday bought 2 fish with regular chips as takeaway. The pan fried fish must have been the smallest fillet they could find. But the chips were dry and shriveled the worst I have ever had the misfortune to buy. Wish I would have taken them back instead of in the bin. LIFT YOUR GAME.

Sets the benchmark for all fish houses in WA and simply cannot be beaten from pricing, quantity, quality and consistency. Number 1 by far and the closest to a 'proper chippy' you will find in this hemisphere! The self serve tables of endless salt and vinegar is a winner, lots of seating and everything cooked from fresh to order. Hidden GEM!!

As a Brit living in Canberra, I really miss quality fish with real fresh chips - the frozen ones just don't work. Please to say that here ticked all of the boxes, delicious cod and chips, I also took a battered sausage and black pudding away which didn't disappoint; highly recommended!

First time being at the place and the food was so good. I mean, I had the best fish and chips I could have ever experienced. The chips are really crunchy and probably the best i have ever had. The fish was well cooked. The guy at the counter recommended this for me, and even brought it out for me specially. I felt so appreciative as I could have gone up and collected it. Cannot wait for the gluten free batter to come out. Update: Tried the gluten free batter, and it was excellent. Keep up the great work!

Went in unexpectedly since I suddenly had a craving for fish & chips when we were passing by the shop Ordered a fisherman’s plate with tartare & extra curry sauce and coleslaw. Pretty average fish & chips. Chips were stale (somewhat looked like they just gave us whatever was left from the previous order since they had a couple more tables ordered before us). Fish (Hake) had a thin batter but didn’t stay crispy for long enough & got soggy pretty quickly. Kinda self-service for everything when you dine in. It’s cheap price for CBD location so probably that’s why the fish & chips wouldn’t be that great. Also, you could find better fish & chips near the beach side with even cheaper prices (for ex, near Cottesloe beach) Calamari & battered prawns were better than the fish though Not sure if we’ll be coming back
