I’ve been coming to Ciao Italia since I was in high school - this place is an institution to most people in the area. I think that the Italian food may not be the best in Perth but that by no means makes it bad! They have great bold flavours and a wide variety on a menu that has been tried and tested for years. Their portions are good and usually one is enough to feed a person. Pizza is good here as well, although I think I’ll always prefer the pasta! Ever since expanding the restaurant seating has become less of an issue but I think on a popular night you will find that you still have to wait in line to get in. The venue itself can sit quite a large group provided you call up in advance, and parking around the area usually isn’t an issue. Staff are friendly and many of the same staff have been serving there for the longest time! I have many Italian restaurants I like in Perth and I think even for nostalgic value alone Ciao Italia is ok the list for me. Definitely give it a go if you like good quality Italian food!

Went to Ciao Italia (273 Mill Point Rd, South Perth) for dinner this evening. We’ve been here before, and both of us enjoyed every visit. This time was no different. We entered and had a friendly welcome. Because it was early, the infamous line hadn’t started yet, however it was a different story an hour later, with the place packed and noisy as usual. The other half had mushroom soup as entree, which she states was very different yet better than the typical mushroom soups she has had prior. Her mains was a Pasta Marinara, which to quote her, was ‘amaze balls’ and didn’t require any additional seasoning or such. I had garlic bread followed by Margherita Pizza. I’ve always enjoyed their garlic bread. Hence why the photo only shows one slice. The other 3 were eaten before it dawned on me that I hadn’t taken a photo. Finally, onto the pizza. The 13” pizza delivered on a stand was delicious. The dough was chewy and flavoursome, there was plenty of cheese and just the right amount of oiliness. I’d have preferred a little more Basil but that’s just being picky. All in all, the pizza was a solid 8/10. We’ll definitely be back again, and early as usual to avoid the queue.

Big portions of mediocre food just means you get more of what you dont enjoy having. I was looking forward to trying the food at Ciao Italia, after all, 4.5* with thousands of review on google cant go wrong. Well, it can. This is the 3230 of italian food. Hyped up but ultimately deflated just like their pizza dough. Alarm bells started ringing when I was looking through the menu while waiting for our table. Cream and cream cheese sauce in a carbonara? Well the boss is italian, so maybe it's a translation error. Imagine my shock when the carbonara came in a pile of white saucy horror with nothing that resembles neither a traditional or modern take on a simple carbonara. No cheesy fragrance, no saltiness from guanciale or bacon, no rich eggy deliciousness from the sauce, and almost limp spaghetti. The pizzas had generous amounts of toppings but the dough was lacking. It was thin but bready. No crispy crusts, no crunchy air pockets, no chewiness from the missing gluten formation, no aroma. It was disappointing, especially seeing all the takeaway boxes lined up and waiting. The must order mussels were edible at best but it's not sometime i would order again. Expected a grilled calamari but it was battered and fried. What are these people eating? On the positive side, the rissoto seems to be freshly cooked and came steaming hot though lacking in broth intensity and flavour. Tiramisu was enjoyable with delicious egg white. Gnocchi was cooked properly but bolognese sauce it came with was lacking in beefiness and depth of flavour, tastes mostly of watery tomato, some dried herbs and salt. Not worth the visit even if there are no queues. If it was half the price with none of the hype I would have much lower expectations, but at this price, getting microwave food might be a better alternative in both price and quality. The only highlight was the tiramisu which was worth getting.

This a beautiful, cultural sort of restaurant for those who wanna try some authentic Italian. I have always loved Italian food and guess this place will feature in my top list in Perth. It’s a little hard to get seating but the wait is worth it.

Absolutely delicious Italian food. Was crowded on a weekday night but only queued for around 20-30 minutes. Staff were friendly and efficient. For food, we ordered the squid ink pasta with tomato chilli sauce, carbonara, truffle mushroom pizza and the smoked salmon pizza. Everything was delicious and the food was quick to be served. The portions were huge for 5, and we were very satisfied. The star of the show though was definitely the tiramisu for dessert! A must-order :-) Would definitely return again.

One of the best Italian restaurants in Perth! There’s a large variety in both pasta and pizza. We ordered the Alla Salerno with the Rose sauce and the Calzone (enclosed pizza)! Both were full of flavour and won’t disappoint. There is a usually a line during dinner, but the wait does not take long at all. Staff are very efficient and friendly too. Definitely try this place out if you’re looking for a cozy Italian restaurant!

Haven't been here for many years. The place is still the same. We came at 5:40pm and its 1/3 full. This place still draws a crowd. Food is taste. Only item I found for improvement is the saltiness. A little bit more salty. The tiramisu is superb. Creamy and toffee. A must to finish off the meal. Hope you have a good time.

Generally nice Italian food for families and even big groups! Enjoyed the pizza, carbonara and marinara! The water is already on your table before you’re seated, that’s what I really could appreciate.

A well known Italian restaurant. No need for reservations just walk in. People will lineup as soon as it opens, but doesn’t need to wait for long time. The food was good and portions were generous! Wood pizza must try it, one of the best pizza in Perth !

No doubt one of the best italian in Perth. Extremely busy no matter the time of the day. Loved their carbonara, very creamy but not overpowering the rest of the food. Squid ink pasta with rose sauce is one to die for. Finished everything with a huge size of profiterole and best tiramisu in town. Definitely worth every penny spent

Best Italian in Perth!! We have been coming here for many years now and the food has always been high standard, with big portions and great service. All their food is amazing but if I had to recommend something it’d be the chilli mussels and the fettuccine ciao italia - and can’t forget their tiramisu which is to die for. These will always be in our order! Only downside is the crazy wait times but if you arrive just as they open it usually isn’t too bad, just try to avoid peak times but even if you wait a bit, honestly it’s still worth and it even makes the food taste better!

Had this the first night we arrive in Perth, probably the best decision made, we’ve been to the other outlet in the past, but this outlet was our first visit. As usual, great food, fantastic portion, love the service, friendly and helpful. Me and my friends really had a great time. I’d highly recommend the mussel soup. So damn good.

This place was amazing! We were visiting from interstate and really felt like an authentic Italian food so we came across this place. Despite being busy they had a perfect table available for us (guess that’s luck). Amazing variety of pizza and pasta. Food came out very quickly. Lots of flavors. Now the portions… you really could have one pasta for 2 people. We had so much left over. Definitely one of the few places I been too where the portions have been surprising. I got the Marinara and it was FULL of seafood. To top it off staff were very friendly and attentive. As interstate guests we were very satisfied and will recommend to anyone who visits Perth. Thank you 🥰

The Ciao Italia fettuccini was the best white sauce pasta I've ever had! Super tasty sauce that tasted garlicky and mushroomy, and really tasty chicken pieces tasted like they had actually been marinated in a well salty brine. For $29.50 the serving was large enough to comfortably feed 2 people. The porcini pizza was good, but I'd say Alfred's still makes the best wood-fired pizza. The tiramisu's mascarpone layer was insanely good, it had a velvety smooth texture unlike any I've had before and was a heavenly consistency. Unfortunately the tiramisu was let down by its overly wet and soggy ladyfingers layers. I'd still get it again anyway. Overall highly recommend! Other tables seemed to very much enjoy their Vongole pasta, the bruschetta seemed to come with an entire half a bag of mixed salad on the side, and the calzone was literally the size of a whole pizza folded in half, only super puffed up too. You can request a little stand if you're ordering pizza and it doesn't come with one - saves some space on the table as everything comes on a really large plate! Note: 50c surcharge for takeaway containers. Note: We arrived 5 min before opening time on a Sunday evening, and the queue was already 16 people long.

The Italian background manager didn't like Asians and he was very rude. The Indian staff are quite friendly. The food quality was just at average level and over priced. There are so many better choices in Perth if you like Italian food. Won't come back anymore.

Being an Italian lover, tasted many Italian restaurants in my life before, I would comment that this restaurant is an acceptable choice if you are not very particular about having very high expectations. Their pasta portions were extremely generous, and certain dishes were generally better than the others, such as the carbonara and seafood pasta were a better pick. However, their squid ink pasta was a little too overcooked, and it can be soggy. The pizza was alright, but their chili mussels were very delicious and fresh, along with their popular tiramisu. In conclusion, it is an Italian restaurant worth trying if you nearby the area and you have a huge appetite!

I never remember to take photos to post because by the time the food arrives I'm so hungry and excited to start that I devour most of it straight away. Case in point: half-eaten tiramisu picture only. Squid ink pasta in spicy sauce is my personal favourite, and I won't get sick of those insane chilli mussels - do yourself a favour and get the garlic bread to go along with it. Thank me later. When you see one of those dome-shaped ovens you know the pizza is going to be great. This is one of the places overseas visitors yearn to come back for when we can travel again. Says a lot seeing as they do visit from a variety of places with impressive food as well.

It’s a very busy place. Arrived at 5.01pm right at opening time and the carpark is full! Had to look for a parking spot in the vicinity. It got busy real quick, I was thankful we got a seat early and quick. Pretty cramped on the inside, the air was pretty warm and stale, however food was good 👍🏼😋 portion was huge and I see many people walking out with leftovers in boxes. We did that too with our pasta, if I didn’t get it wrong they charge $0.50 for a box. Tiramisu is awesome, I had the original one, and was so filled I couldn’t try another flavour. Definitely recommend a visit if you’re in the vicinity!

Have been coming here for decades! The feel is very Italian. It's very popular so we went as soon as it opened at 5pm. Came for a casual family dinner on a Tuesday night. The restaurant was bustling as usual but service was still very quick. We ordered five dishes between five people and did not come close to finishing it all. The pasta dishes (spaghetti carbonara and tortelli funghi) were extremely rich and we felt the carbonara was not quite as tasty as it was previously. The calamari also seemed to be slightly lacking in flavour but was still a great meal.

  • 3/5 jack l. 1 year ago on Google
Very popular. Its a BYO place. No alcohol. The outstanding dish was the grilled squid. The tiramisu was lighter than usual but after a heavy meal? Perhaps a better idea. Pizza was ok. The chili mussels was delightful. Pasta was ok. Bruschetta was a bit overdone. 3 pax 6 dishes Aud 220 in the suburbs not exactly cheap

This is byfar the best traditional Italian restaurant that I've ever had. Flew back to Perth just to have it again after 6 years and it's still as good as back then. The pasta and tiramisu is a must have and must not be missed.

Fast service. Great mid range Italian restaurant. We went there around 6+ so it was not too crowded. We ordered Ciao Italia Fettuccine, Marinara Spaghetti, Pizza Calabrese, Steak, tiramisu & strawberry cheesecake. Food was amazing, one of the best Italian food we have had. Definitely recommended!

Bruschetta looks simple but the tastiest thing I’ve had! Even the salad on the side with dressing is a 10/10. Pizza. Don’t even need to say more 10/10. Service 10/10. Always checked on, attentive, friendly and welcoming. Squid ink pasta with the chilli tomato sauce. 10/10, I mean…. Just look at my photo. Belliiisssiiimmoooo! We always love eating here and it’s always worth the wait no matter how long ❤️

Ciao Italia truly offers an authentic Italian dining experience! As expected, the place was bustling with people, and even on a Wednesday evening at 6:30 pm, there was already a queue. I patiently waited for 30 minutes to get a table. The restaurant seems to attract a lot of tourists, particularly Singaporeans. As a fellow Singaporean, I felt a sense of familiarity and camaraderie while dining there. The staffs at Ciao Italia provided excellent service, despite the busy atmosphere. They were polite, attentive, and made sure to promptly refill your water bottle as soon as it was empty. Kudos to them for maintaining such high standards of customer service! Now, let's talk about the food, which was simply delicious. It's possibly some of the best Italian cuisine I've ever tasted. The portions are incredibly generous, and you can easily share one plate of pasta between two people. I highly recommend their Lasagna, which is packed with flavor and incredibly satisfying. The Chilli Mussels are also a standout dish – fresh and incredibly tasty. However, there was one dish I wouldn't recommend – the Fettuccine Amatriciana. While it had a good taste, it lacked sufficient bacon, so I wouldn't recommend it if you're looking for a protein-loaded option. The only downside of Ciao Italia is the cramped space. If you have a group larger than four, be prepared to squeeze onto two small tables. Despite the tight spaces and the wait for a table, Ciao Italia is definitely worth a visit if you're craving an authentically delicious and generously portioned Italian meal.

definitely long queue for waiting to have a seat here, hot spot restaurant. Food was good, but some of the pasta are definitely to soft to eat. Most of the food are soft then usual, not the texture and favour I really like... and the dining area is very crowd, may not want to come back again...

There is line out the door on most nights. Now that I have actually eaten here, I understand why. This is now my favourite Italian restaurant in Perth. It's that good. The chef could be heard shouting from the kitchen, it's hilarious. It's squishy with Cafe tables and chairs with checked table clothes. Old world decorations and colour palette it feels like and old Italian Cafe in Europe. Recommend the squid ink pasta. There is limited parking so if you have a group it might be better to carpool.
