Limited view of the city, excellent location but that where it ends. We ordered ice coffee with no cream; end up with cream. The chicken salad was plain. However the chips were perfectly cooked.

Nothing special, bad experience with staff. I took the disabled person I was with to the toilet and staff come knocking on the door trying to rush the poor person, very rude. They’re clearly disabled and deserve to take the time they need to do their business. Quite over priced too, especially considering the pizza was tasteless and topped with raw spinach not even basil, very disappointing. The cheese was unevenly distributed too so some slices seemed to have very little to no cheese at all. The chips are just chips, pretty hard to go wrong there so they were as expected.

My first outing in Perth was to the Botanical Gardens in Perth where we stopped in for lunch at the Botanical Cafe. Lovely casual cafe with outdoor and covered seating. Watch out for the crowd if seated outside. The dirty scavengers don't hesitate to pick leftovers from plates in the outdoor area with fear from staff or anyone else. The food and drinks that we ordered were reasonable and enjoyable but the price demanded is commiserate to a 5 star Michelin Restaurant. Food was very overpriced. A significant number of people revolved through the Restaurant and I saw that a number of food orders delivered to table consisted of just fried chips and coffee. I suspect due to the overpriced menu items. $12 for a greasy ham cheese and tomato croissant was my order, see picture. You be the judge but I was disappointed. Thankfully the weather was magnificent.

Wouldn't let me order a beer at 10.15!!! And they charge 14 bucks for a sausage roll. These rip off merchants are straight up un-australian. Only saving grace was got to see Chadwick Boseman hiding out here. Maybe there is some vibranium in the food or something to justify the prices. Well it's 10.30 now so I'm off to get my mid-strength, but mark my words, I won't be visiting this establishment sober again.

Awful awful service every time I've been. They get away with it because of their location. Shame because the food, coffee and drinks were pretty good.

Nice chips but too expensive!! 10 dollars for the basket. It’s pretty well served but it’s only chips, shouldn’t be that expensive. Almost no vegetarian options. View is nice, service is fast, staff is kind.

Went to Botanical Cafe for lunch today. Covid procedures including Safe WA in place but clearly not a priority or enforced. Service was very average. Young staff not properly supervised. Two beers on tap. Neither tap worked. So ordered 2 stubbies. Both warm. Advised bar staff. Got an apology. Still charged for both drinks. Food was excellent. Location fantastic.

A masterclass in how to not make quality coffee. Bulk milk jugs overflowing from excessive steaming, caked on dry milk on the steam wand, group handles or jugs not cleaned between use. Given this, coffee was as expected - terrible. Sweet snack was worse. Hard, cold (possibly still frozen), dry croissant. Staff offered to “warm up” which was a burst in the microwave making it oily, sloppy and still hard and dry in parts. Clearly this place capitalises on its monopoly status as the only cafe in the park by offering terrible food and coffee with sloppy service. Bring your own food and, please Council, bring in some competition!

The interior of the cafe is the only thing it has going for it. The staff are rude, the food is overly expensive and is disproportional to the quality. The cafe also fails to provide for dietary requirements, with gluten free bread the only concession on the menu. If you want to only have a coffee, this place is not bad, but anything else is unrealistic.

Dining with the view of CBD. Enjoyed our dining experience. Quick and friendly service. Their scones are the best I've tasted this side of town. Coffee is definitely great. Will definitely be retuning for another cuppa. Worth the trip. Fish and chips are good, too.

Great spot for a restaurant and this is a relaxing cafe for lunch or drinks. Everything is ordered from the bar and then the staff bring items to your table. This makes ordering a drink rather slower than it needs to be but everyone is friendly enough. There’s drinking water available for free along with ice which is welcome in the hot weather. The food menu has a good mix whether you’re looking for a small snack or proper meal and the prices pretty reasonable given the prime location. Service time was good, presentation brilliant and the barramundi was cooked perfectly. Well worth popping in while spending time in the park and there’s no need to venture into the city for food - a lovely place.

Cracking chai latte, nice orange and chocolate muffin and friendly staff. For a quick good value drink and cake stop this was perfect. Star off because the tables and floor weren’t cleaned, staff were constantly busy however so could probably do with an extra pair of hands

Came this morning hoping to enjoy a delicious coffee and bite to eat. We ordered a toasted ham and cheese sandwich and a scone with jam and cream. The scone was more like a stale cake, dry and served with cheap packet jam. All the staff look super unhappy. Definitely not going back.

Went for Xmas Breakfast, Definitely quantity over quality, Bacon under cooked, Sourdough toast rock hard, Scrambled eggs zero Flavor. First Iced coffee was alright as it had ice cream in it, but then supposedly ran out of icecream (9am) so second was disgusting. Then the ramp for disabled to walk on between the cafe and Frasers was blocked by multiple tables in frasers, so unable to use, which meant extra long walk for 83 YO and another with issues of inability to walk long distance. Very expensive for what you actually got. Will be first and last time there.

Cheap ingredients an overpriced and underwhelming menu .sub par coffee with raw sugar the only option, ask for a sweet iced coffee .get a basic iced coffee with a packet of raw sugar to try dissolve into a ice cold drink. Water had sediment in it and ALL of the glasses looked cloudy\dirty\very old.

Someone told me the coffee here is good. I stopped by to try it. The long Macchiato was a bit smoother and the taste was alright. They used Gravity coffee beans. The beans originate from various countries as labelled: Brazil, India, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Mexico, Honduras and Papua New Guinea. What impressed me the most was the unique decoration of the indoor seating area. This morning the Kings Park temperature was about 15 Deg C. This cafe has a lot of heaters to generate warm air for the seating area. I like this beautiful cafe. Certainly another good cafe for gatherings. Cheers! (2021-08)

A pleasant place to meet. Central CBD, but with attractive scenery and views of the Swan River to South Perth (with the relaxing pleasure of Kings Park). Choice of alfresco or dine-in. Plenty of seating, convenient parking at rear, good strong coffee. Delicious sausage roll (one of the best I have ever tasted) perfect fries - great coffee and a refreshing freshly squeezed water melon and apple juice. Excellent service. Polite and patient staff. Tables cleaned continually too.

Food is average and a little pricey but understandable because of the location. Cofee was okay. Staff were nice but be prelared to wait a bit longer for your food during busy periods. I still recommend this place fr the entire experience of dining at such a beautiful location

Lovely location and friendly service, spoilt by average expensive food. We ordered two chicken parmys and two drinks plus 1 water for $69!!! for lunch. The chicken was small and tasted fishy!!! the chips where excellent, the slaw was not even a slaw, just cabbage, some beans and alot of mayonnaise, and didn't seem fresh (see pic). Really disappointed but who knows if they read reviews, as one from a month ago suggested that the place be cleaned of cobwebs and it wasn't very clean at all.. Please improve your standards here, otherwise you waste a great opportunity to make a great name for yourself!!!

Who cares about the food - what a stunning view. Another spectacular day in Perth so Kings Park was the place to be. The cafe was pretty busy but we had reserved a table. There’s a good variety on the menu and standard cafe prices. We had the steak sandwich- which my friend didn’t really enjoy and the chicken tender burger which was nice. You order at the counter and considering how busy it was our meals came out pretty quickly. The staff were very friendly. Parking is free but can be rare on a sunny day.

I got a mocha, at 5 pm (thank you), and not only was it great - they also added a little marshmallow and cookie with it. Very happy, not gonna lie. This cafe will be my go-to when I'm around!

Beautiful scenery, views and atmosphere. You are defiantly coming for the view…. the food is average and expensive. The barista seemed to be under a lot of pressure… could use some extra help during peak times with over 30min wait for coffee. Bustling atmosphere on the weekends. I recommend getting a takeaway drink and going for a walk through kings park.

Disappointing visit today. We’ve been here many times and never really had any issues. However, today we had issues with the food and slow service. “Beat the queues, scan order and pay at the table” via the QR code. However, it’s not any quicker, in fact it seems that drinks ordered at the counter come out quicker. Today, 3 out of 4 of us had poached eggs. ALL poached eggs were over cooked. I can overcook poached eggs but I don’t expect this from a cafe / restaurant. I had the “eggs on toast” and thankfully I added bacon and hash browns. If I hadn’t added these, I would literally have had one poached egg, 2 slices of sourdough toast (nice hard crusts) and and pile of spinach!! The kids milkshake came quickly but we had to remind them, half way through eating our food, that we were still waiting on 3 coffees. I don’t think we’ll be rushing back!

Food average, very overpriced for what you get. Staff quite rude left us waiting to order while they had a chat. There was a docket issue with the salad; they didn’t know where to bring it - coffees came out cold

I was initially reluctant to go to this cafe having read many negative reviews online but I decided to give it a go and I’m glad I did as my experience was all good. Excellent location, beautiful views. Got a nice spot to sit, drinks and food came out fast. Drinks and food average prices with mug of coffee being $5 and pizza was $22. Staff were reasonably friendly. Update: came again 3 years later and had a delicious iced coffee

Waited in line for 15 minutes while baldy behind the counter kept looking at the 10 of us, all he kept doing was wiping the bench. No ‘ we will be with soon’ or any effort to serve us. Everyone walking out of the line including myself. Typical rude Perth culinary experience by arrogant staff. Certainly won’t be back tho I’m sure there will be a change of management very soon after this terrible experience

Botanical cafe was a quick stop for myself and Friends on our way to an event. It was during lunch time activity and bustling with lots of hungry excited people. None the less, the service was efficient and not too long a wait. There are a couple of food outlets in this location but the Botanical Cafe offers a great sit-down experience with a wonderful variety of delicious food available for dining in or outside of their establishment. Being at that elevation, the views are superb taking in the city of Perth vista from the greatest asset Perth has, the glorious Kings Park! Highly recommend this time of year late October, early November as you have the absolute pleasure being amongst one of the greatest displays of Wildflowers created in Western Australia.

Quick stop for a refreshment. No one offered to bring water to the table. We got 3 cold iced coffees. Over $26 so very pricey. They were bitter and not the slightest bit sweet. Carrot cake and cheese cake were nice but $8 each so not worth that cost. View of course is beautiful over the city of Perth. Service so so.

September is probably the best time to visit King's Park and one of the added delights is our traditional coffee and scone break at the Botanical Cafe. Located in a beautiful spot, the establishment offers both indoor and outdoor sitting areas. Unfortunately, all the outdoors tables were taken, but sitting inside was also great. The service was good and swift. The coffee was well prepared. Unfortunately, the scone was a little spongy, and was served with packaged jam, which is a little less attractive - and certainly not as tasty as the better varieties available. Either way, we will return, as the place is so well located and hospitable.

The scenery & service were good. Not even a fan going that I noticed though we found a spot that was just inside & was reasonably comfortable in high 30s temp. Limited menu & the complimentary water was very warm. However, we both found really good food we enjoyed, well presented & himself reported his beef pie full of meat & tasty. The plate was decorated with a thick tomato sauce that you could use or ignore. Chips fresh made & good. My smoked salmon frittata & salad tasty & salad good & fresh. Recommend the on tap dry white wine.

Arrived for late lunch. Found a table that wasn't cleaned. Approached a female wait staff if she could please clear the table...she kindly removed 2 table numbers but left all the dirty plates, glasses etc from the previous customers. So we cleared our own table! Coffee tasted burnt! Bacon & egg burger was okay. Wouldn't recommend them!

Not bad coffee but wish the management put another barista during rush hour. One barista doing all coffee order, waited 35 mins. Clearly coffee not their focus in their business. Lots of takeaway people also waiting quite long time for their coffee.

  • 1/5 Felicity M. 2 years ago on Google
The doors were open at 6.50am so we approached the counter. We were rudely told that "we don't open until 7"! I asked if we could sit and wait and was met with an abrupt and cold "yes" over her shoulder. Needless to say we didn't wait, we went somewhere else. This was following the Lifeline "Out of the Shadows" Walk to remember those we have lost to suicide on Saturday 4-9-21. Considering the occasion, some warmth, compassion, and friendliness from staff would not have gone astray. In fact friendly and welcoming staff would be an advantage in such a picturesque and popular location at any time! We should all be able to feel proud of our beautiful city's amazing park, but that is impossible when greeted in this manner. How embarrassing if visitors to our city are also subjected to this rudeness!! What a disappointment.

We are travelling through WA and had a great day at Kings Park, … until our experience at Botanical Cafe. I very rarely post negative reviews, however, there was nothing redeeming about this experience. We ordered a toasted panini and a scone with cream and jam. Firstly, the person serving me could not have been more surly or unpleasant. I was told, we have no cream, it’s served with butter. I politely declined the offer. We then waited at least 25 minutes for the pre prepared panini to be toasted. I went back to enquire and again, the response was abrupt and not “hospitality “ as you would expect. Some time later the food arrived, the chicken was stone cold inside. The waiter could not manage a smile, no comment, simply dropped it on the table and left. That makes our contact with three employees, all with the same attitude, which bordered on rude. If you like to feel welcome where you spend your money do not indulge this behaviour. Very disappointing in such a great spot.

Came here early on a Monday afternoon. Ordered a banana milkshake and margherita pizza among other things. The shake was awful had way too much syrup. The margherita pizza had no sliced Mozzarella or basil, instead a sparse cheese base and rocket/arugula instead. For a simple order at an expensive cost, the experience was definitely not worth it. Decided to post a review as this is our second time here, previously having received an undercooked pizza with incorrect toppings in the past. We wanted to give the cafe another chance, given the great location, but we’re sorely disappointed.
