Not worth the price, I was also debited more than the quoted hostel word booking fee. Showers are good, rooms are serviceable and the air con does the job. Also the staff at check in seemed genuinely annoyed when I buzzed the intercom to check in late. As well as losing the Perth travel card put inside my passport when they scanned it, so I had to fork out an extra $20 to replace that.

Staff are friendly and very helpful. The hostel is very clean and tidy. It has a nice big TV area, and also nice undercover out door area. It is located right in the CBD, close to all your major supermarkets, Woolworths, Coles , and IGA, etc. Kitchen is open all hours, unlike some hostels where kitchens close at certain times.

Great location close to the city's CBD, friendly staff & approachable when asking for directions or help. The room is lovely and well kept, basement & outdoor area great space to chill, kitchen is maintained as clean as possible by staff but can get messy in the afternoon due to being a communal space which is understandable.

Best hostel in Perth! I've stayed in many hostels in Perths CBD and this is definitely the best choice for Backpackers. The location is fantastic, it is right in the center of the CBD. The shopping street where you can find Woolworths, H&M, Kmart and many more is only 50m away. You reach Northbridge, the party suburb, in about 5 minutes walking. All the facilities, including kitchen, rooms, bathroom and common areas are very clean. The common area is super comfortable and you can also find your own space if you don't feel like socializing. There's a nice outside area with a BBQ that can be used for free. Snooker table, TV Room with Netflix and Computers are available as well. Staff is very helpful and friendly and guests are very nice and from around the world. It's very easy to make friends. Kangaroo Inn is not really a party hostel though, but rather quiet. All in all a great experience and 100% recommended

Kangaroo inn is wicked!! I live here full time. I’ve met many good people from all over the world.staff are very cool and get along with them well. Very cheap and good consistent cleaning. Wouldn’t go anywhere else. Very close to shops and city central

Good: excellent location. Big kitchen. Mattress and beds are comfortable. Clean bathrooms. Clean towels and linen. Functional elevator. Lockers in rooms. I felt safe and secure as you can only enter the building with key access. Can be improved: wifi connection very poor. I had to use mobile data during my whole stay. Street noise for street-facing rooms (window was not sealed). Squeaky noisy doors. Reception is not 24 hours but they have a night watch person. Overall 8/10 in terms of meeting expectations (it’s a hostel you can’t expect luxury)

I recently stayed at this Hostel and had a great time. The staff were friendly and helpful, specially Fernando who took care of everything while we were staying in there. the location was convenient, and the facilities were clean and comfortable. I would definitely recommend this hostel to others looking for an affordable and enjoyable stay.

Fantastic location, fantastic staff and facilities. The beds are thick and comfortable. Guests are also a nice bunch. Also it has AIRCON most Perth other hostels dont have this....take note for those staying during Perth summer.

Do yourself (and your pocket) a favour and avoid this hostel. All the pictures in shown here are fake. The cleaning conditions are truly sad. The furniture is old, stained and broken. Everywhere you go is smelly, dusty and dirty (except the bathrooms that are reasonably well kept). It is impossible to use the kitchen as you will rarely find clean dishes or cutlery and using the stove is a pretty disgusting experience. We even found mold in the metal structure of the bunk beds, I doubt they do anything else other than changing the bed sheets. Don't get caught up by the outdated ratings, the place needs a serious makeover. Go to Spinners hostel: it's tidy, clean and the staff is super kind.

Very nice hostel! Clean rooms and really comfortable bed and mattress. The bathrooms were excellent, always clean and nice hot showers. My only complaints are that we saw a couple of cockroaches in the kitchen and that the WIFI IS HORRIBLE. Literally, couldn't even connect to it, I was able to connect once and it kept failing.

Nice place, but some things could be improved - wifi loses connection a lot (no signal downstairs at all) and power plugs in my room had a round earth pin (instead of the standard flat) which made it impossible to charge a laptop or use power adapters. Phone chargers without adapters should work though (no earth plug on them).

No wifi in the rooms made me switch to another hostel. Amazing location, but wifi didn't connect in the rooms and the kitchen was worse than other nearby hostels. Bathrooms are generally clean and staff is nice though. After researching I ended up going to Billabong hostel, it has larger rooms with wifi and better common areas.

I had been stayed in the Kangaroo Inn for a long term. I booked a 2-bed single room, the size of the mattress is big for a single one, so for me it was comfortable enough, there is a split air conditionair (very important for the hot days), there are sockets with switchs and lamp next to the bed. There are shared barthroom per each floor and separated for men and women, are clean, the showers are easy to open and change the temperature. I was well attended by all the staff here, but the Brazilians are the best. The shared spaces are very good and you have an oportunity to know people of other countries. The kichen are full equiped if you want to cook your own meal. However the most important thing is the location, because it's in the middle of the Perth CBD, and it has everything you need next to the hostel like pharmacies, supermarkets, restaurants and the access to all the lines of trains and buses on the Perth Station.

The hostel is placed in one of bedt places of city which is close to most of tourist sites. By a short walk you can have everything from CAT bus stops to grocery shopping or very busy cafes. The hostel is very clean with very friendlt staff. You can use the small kitchen as well forcyour cooking. 🤩

Customer service is rubbish. The manager made me wait 4 months to tell me my refund would not be given. If it is in the hostel's policy that guests who catch covid will be required to leave and will be refunded their booking why are they blaming the guest for not informing the hostel that they want a refund by the end of the month? And I have evidence that i called to inform them at the end of July when I booked my stay with them and had to leave halfway so I did nothing wrong. The manager did not bother to contact me back after I called multiple times over the past 4 months. Lost me about 477 dollars

The place is dirty and sometimes it's not because they don't clean it's just because the people who are in this hostel are dirty and if you complaint at the reception about toilettes not been clean they say that they are going to do something but that's not true they just want you to go away so they can keep doing nothing just seat beyond a window.Dont bother

Dirty kitchen, full of cockroaches. Also the lobby of the hostel wasn't cleaned for at least 3 days. The carpet on the second floor was very smelly. Rubbish bins not cleaned for 2/3 days. On the other hand, toilets were ok.

Not only dirty sheets as stated in reviews but also dirty ethics, kicking out residents who are not vaccinated when our own health department declared that the Freo footy match with thousands of spectators was low risk with proof of vax not required.

Will only be taking jabbed guests as per recent letters to guests. Super illegal. Where are the lawyers to help these people? Making paid guests homeless due to medical status. FOR SHAME.

Heard you're forcing long term residents out if they're not vaxxed. Poor decision, not cool at all.

Absolute bloody disgrace this place. Going to kick out long term residents if not fully vaccinated. Disgusting and vile. Sub human almost. Terrible food and terrible staff have no respect for vulnerable people and discriminating people for their pro choice views.. You should be ashamed. I'm double vaxxed and a few of my friend's aren't but to completely segregate a person on their views is complete discrimination. Never entering your premises again ,will boycott your business and will be telling everyone I know to do the same.

It's nice place , I stayed 10 nights there.Big kitchen, clean bathroom and nice basement area (lounge) .Bed mattress are amazing , like a 4 star hotel! Super friendly staff! Will be better to don't put tourists and workers in the same dorm room , because people who stayed there for long time and work makes rooms very messy and when tourists came in the room is very disappointed ! Also need to improve WiFi !

+ very good facility + clean ( showers; kitchen etc. nice and clean ) + helpfull stuff 24/7 + cheapest place in city - NOT brakefast ( on Agoda they write free brakefast ) - very small rooms ( smelly = depends of people who live in, 6 people in very small room ) - very slow WI-FI ( evening_ terrible slow )

I stayed last night being the ceo of CBH to see if the services were suitable for our employees to stay on their FIFO stays. Honestly the service last night from a particular lady at front house was not up to scratch with what we require. Straight forward she was a night mare I checked out straight away and went to another hotel the most rudest front house I've ever r ciwvwd. Do not stay at this place aand sadly I hey have missed out on full bookings from our community many because of one individual

Upon check out she went up and checked my room and I had a few empty water bottles and she said to me I could have put them in the bin for the hose cleaners she is the larger south African lady she is terrible I would not have her working for me at all most disgusting service I've ever had from front house anywhere I am FIFO was going to stay on my time off won't be giving the kangaroo inn my money

Cons - Wifi does NOT work in the rooms. I've read reviews from months ago and they still haven't made anything about it. All you need is to put more access points, they're cheap. Instead of upgrading the kitchen cameras to pester people to wash the dishes, invest in good networking that everyone uses all day long. - The common areas are in the basement, so you can't see any daylight if you are down there. - The kitchen is quite dated, the drying towels are always wet because they don't get rotated during the day. It is sometimes missing key elements such as forks. Pros + Location. It's half a block from the pedestrianized blocks where all the shops are. + There are plugs right beside the beds. + Bathrooms are kept relatively clean, although the showers are very prone to flooding the bathroom. Suggestions I know the managers of the hostel read these reviews, here are my suggestions: 1) Upgrade the wifi ASAP. Look into two Ubiquiti Unifi U6 Lite per floor and solve the problem, no more excuses. 2) Hang drying racks on the kitchen's walls above the sinks so plates dry fast and there's no need to dry the plates with the towels. 3) Remove the TV from the "reading room" and put some desks. As there are TVs in both the basement and reading room, there's no place to use a computer without having to listen to the TV in the background.

I had an excellent experience in this hostel! The kitchen was very nice and well-equipped, making it easy for me to cook my own meals. The rooms were also very comfortable and clean, providing a great night's sleep. I also loved the community area which was a great place to meet new people and hang out. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, making me feel right at home. Overall, I highly recommend this hostel to anyone visiting Perth. It's a fantastic place to stay and I will definitely be coming back!"

Thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. Rooms were comfortable and clean, the wifi worked great throughout the hostel. Everyone was respectful and friendly, it wasn’t too loud. The bathroom facilities were clean and the staff very friendly. The kitchen is good but was quite full for fridge and dry goods storage. The common area where the kitchen is, is very comfortable and always something good to watch on tv, also has table tennis and a pool table and a variety of board games and books. A lot of fun to be had with fellow hostel guests that quickly become friends. 🙂
