(22F) We left after one night. We wanted to leave as soon as we got there but there was nothing else available. It’s mostly a long-term accommodation place for working backpackers, meaning the residents are very ‘established.’ The fridges are overflowing with bags and there was no space in our dorm to put anything since it’s all been taken up by those living there. Our sheets were stained yellow and when we asked for new sets they were equally dirty. The security system is average, and there are a lot of ‘floaters’ who wander in and out. Pros: close to town, some friendly backpackers. Cons: dirty rooms, dirty bedding, unhygienic, unsafe feeling, noisy, unfriendly staff.

This is by far the worse hostel I have ever been in Australia. Plenty of junkies and weird people, dirty and ugly, the room was horrible and smelled like rotten feet. I have never listened a guy snoring so loud either. They don’t even have hot shower!! It’s completely terrible. Make yourselves a favour and avoid this place. Or recommend to your enemies 🤣

Absolutely shocking hostel. If I had known how bad it was before reading the reviews I would not have shown up. The room lock was broken and NOT SECURE and there was no place to store my items. The lockers were empty but someone decided to put padlocks on the open doors (thanks) so weren't able to use them. Avoid

I endured two dreadful weeks at this hostel. I rarely leave negative reviews, but this time it's necessary. If you plan on staying for just a few days, maybe. But for two weeks, you'll lose your mind. The hostel is dirty, my room door wouldn't close, showers were broken, toilet bowls too... The only positive was the friendly person at the reception. I came with two friends, requested to be in the same room during the reservation (made three months in advance!), yet we were separated.

Worst hostel I stayed in. Pictures are not from this rooms. The place is falling apart, windows won’t open, bed linen is all dirty and won’t even fit in the mattress, air con doesn’t work. Can’t imagine what is like to sleep there on summer. The manager didn’t take any responsibility for the hostels awful conditions. She kept saying the pictures is not what the hostels promises, which makes no sense because it means they could show pictures from any other hotel. Bathroom’s are not enough for the amount of people hosting. I could only find two toilets with shower which were always busy, so I wasn’t able to shower. Don’t recommend this place at all.

I know many people are not satisfied with this hotel. BUT YOU GET WHAT YOU PAID FOR. When I was reserving backpack hotels in Perth city, I cannot find one hotel at my affordable budget maybe due to the hot season recently. I even decided to book a hotel over $100 a night before finding this cheapest but convenient place in City. These guys are really friendly although appeared not. You can’t judge by the lookout. They are keeping kitchen really neat even around 10.30 pm, I can still find the staff is still mopping seriously. Anyway, if you really paid similar price as peers hotels, it’s not deserved. But it’s a great price to give you a safe place to settle down with acceptable budgets. BTW, thanks for good service from the Germany guy with yellow hair!

I tested positive to Covid, had a proof to show and tried to get a refund and they told me I could just come, no problem to stay in the dorms. Just to wear a mask while moving around the hostel. I felt bad to do that to people that are staying there and ended up not going and lost my whole week of rent.$$

The most inhuman hotel! A couple of friends (new international students) booked 9 days in this hostel however they couldn't arrive on the day of the check-in even after being informed the hostel had a problem with the flight. When they arrived they informed that they cancelled their booking. Very unfair for new people.

The people i stayed in the room with were nice but other than that, the hostel is so bad. The pictures in the google pics doesnt even look like that in person. It’s literally a crackhouse. Do not go to this place unless you want a place to do crack or your just out of money.

Absolutely horrific. Tash the manager is the biggest weirdo and control freak to ever walk this planet. Beyond me why someone would have a power trip over being a manager of such a dive. She is an awful human being. So so rude from the get go, arrogant, has absolutely 0 control over her own emotions which is probably why she tries to control everything and everyone around her. I approached her about a lost item of mine which I suspected to be stolen as others had items stolen that very morning. Absolutely zero accusations made towards anyone. the girls I was staying with were a superb bunch… However, things don’t just disappear. I found the item as it was placed somewhere by someone although it was definitely in my suitcase (I hadn’t taken anything out of it at this point), I was frustrated, Understandably. She called me “crazy” as I walked back to my room. Very rich coming from a lunatic like herself. She probably wouldn’t even be able to understand half of this review since she has no understanding of the English language and the definition of words. Shes kicked out 3 people from just our dorm in 4 days, NO REFUND. Honestly, she kicked one girl out for having an argument with her OWN boyfriend and said she was displaying antisocial behaviour. Tash I highly suggest you seek help and get therapy. You have issues that need to be addressed. You are a manager of a hostel that resembles a prison. Get a grip of yourself. Body fluids on the bed sheet, toilets are stinking, very cliquey. Better wear shoes in the shower. Spending more than one night here is essentially a life sentence. Pay the little bit extra and go somewhere decent.

I recently stayed at this hostel and was pleasantly surprised, especially considering the budget-friendly rates. The backpackers vibe was strong, with plenty of inviting hangout spaces. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The interior had a cool, hipster atmosphere that added character to the place. A nice touch was the occasional complimentary bread and milk in the kitchen. Plus, the diversity of guests made for a memorable experience, as I got to meet people from all corners of the globe. Overall, a great value for the experience!

I think they thieves in broad daylight. Not refundable my foot. Took my whole 400.00 After I cancelled the booking. I got there. And only to discover it was dirty and broken furniture. I hope you renovate the place with my money. Worst place ever.

I stayed at the hostel for 4 weeks, the staff were all great and helped us out whenever we needed it. At one point I cut my foot and the manager even helped bandage it up. Great 24 hour kitchen with a range of utensils, 4 ovens, a microwave, kettle, and 2 toasters. There is a free section which is constantly refreshed by the staff with bread, vegetables and condiments. In the past, the hostel was in a bad shape. However now (thanks to strict management and constant daily cleaning) the hostel is in a much better way. Everywhere is cleaned at least daily with rules in place to prevent people making a mess and not cleaning it. Great place to stay, its cheap so don't go in expecting a luxury hotel Will definitely be back.

Awful place, do not stay! It has a prisoner like atmosphere with vulnerable people who need some assistance and a helping hand. Very unsafe vibe at the entrance with random members of the public / homeless being able to use the facilities. As soon as we arrived we tried to book into somewhere else as it was Good Friday everything was booked. Even if I was paid to return I would politely decline.

All rooms and common areas have reverse cycle air conditioning units. The communal kitchen is open 24 hours. There is a number of common areas. There is an area with couches and a free pool table. And a few other areas with multiple couches in each. There is a media room with a very large tv, DVD player, Xbox, PlayStation and a huge range of DVDs, and games for the consoles. There is also a room with a library and desks. And there is a large selection of free items ranging from clothes and shoes, to toiletries and food. Wifi is free and very good. There is good security inside and around the building. Management do not tolerate antisocial behaviour, or theft. So it is a good environment to relax in, and also to not have to worry about your property being stolen. The building has artwork done by guests so is interesting to walk through and have a good look. There is a large kitchen with 4 ovens and 4 stove tops (with a total of 16 gas burners), there are a huge range of appliances and there is plenty of fridge space. There are lots of bathrooms throughout the building. And there is also an area outside with couches. There is a coin operated laundry, clothes line, and ironing board and irons. There are organised activities out of the hostel such as Lazer tag, All you Can eat chicken wing nights and other activities. And there are things such as a very fun game of hide and seek that spontaneously started, and there are other free fun things that happen in the hostel such as a battle with Nerf guns (foam bullets). There is a friendly atmosphere and on a weekend it is enjoyable to stay in and have a couple of drinks. I have made so many new friends whilst staying at the hive. The staff are wonderful. They are very helpful and work hard to keep the hostel clean. There is a $20 deposit and a bed in a dorm room starts from $14. I highly recommend staying at the hive. It was truly an amazing experience that I will treasure.

The Hive was my home for couple of months during my journey in WA and I couldn’t asked for better. Everyone is so friendly and the vibe is what you’re looking for when you are a solo traveller far from home. Common areas are open 24/7 and there is also a backyard to chill and meet new people. Location is very good, you can walk easily to CBD and supermarkets.

It's like most of the cheaper hostels in cities, you get some weirdo's, but it's not that bad, it all depends on the management if the hostel is doong well. But the backpackers in there are awesome, the friendliest and coolest you can find. The location is great, next to the cbd amd northbridge, cant get it any better. Don't just stay there one night, give it a weelk to meet the people who live there and you'll be hooked.

The staff and and other guests were all exceptionally lovely. Great friendly and welcoming environment. The kitchen had plenty have pots pans and other cooking utensils so I was never waiting to use anything. There was also a communal area in the kitchen which had a constant supply of fresh bread along with an assortment of other free food and spices. Everywhere was thoroughly cleaned at least once a day so cleanliness was not issue. My only minor complaint was the number of bathrooms. There are only 4 bathrooms available one of which has 2 showers. This meant you often had to wait to use the toilet or shower in the morning. Overall, I really enjoyed my time here, and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for somewhere to stay in perth city centre. It is run exceptionally well and I get the sense that some serious passion and care goes into the service here.

Very good place to stay in Perth, the location is great and the staff really make an effort to keep the hostel very clean and make everyone follow the rules to keep spaces tidy, clean and hep you have a comfortable stay! Would come again!! As a suggestion I might appreciate social events further than parties (saturdays). But people staying are friendly and happy to spend some time chatting ☺️ My lowest stars goes for the room cause my bed is missing a lather and there are some lockers missing, but in all it’s a positive experience!

First, the lady on the phone was extremely rude. She and her coworker had poor communication between each other. The guy told me that I could change my check-in entry anytime as I wished, but then apparently, she claimed he was doing a bad job. As a result, what I was initially told would not have been possible. She essentially took my money without even giving me a chance to modify my check-in date. It's a bad place with poor administration

Just bad. I booked two nights. After I entered the room, I had to tell, I can't stay here and luckily could change to only one night. I am backpacking for 3 years. These are the most tiny rooms, I have ever seen. Not even knew how to get into the room with my backpack, as right behind the door was a bed and to the left a wall and you had to squeeze between door and bed into the room. Unbelievable. It would be so easy to hinge the door the opposite way... Furthermore when I arrived, I asked, if it's noisy... The person at the reception said, no. Just came to the room, and heard already loud music from the backyard and room mates said, yes you hear from the rooms always party till morning. Bathrooms are not the bests too. Never ever again.

The Hive Hostel is definitely the place that you need when you first arrive in Australia. A MAGIC case of humanity made of AMAZING people that, in less then 24 hours, become your family. Chill space-time when you deserve silence and be by your own, good parties and laughs when "la fiesta" is needed. The staff is wonderful, generous, attentive and super kind. I totally recommend this place! LUNGA VITA ALL'HIVE HOSTEL!

Really dirty bathrooms. The showers are disgusting, bad water pressure and not really hot. Mattress was really uncomfortable because you feel the springs inside the mattress and the bed sheets were smelly. Definitely wouldn’t stay there again. Overpriced!

The Hive is great. Great location, walking distance from all amenities. You can feel management is working very hard to make it the best of environnement and it makes the difference ! Of course, it is not a 5 star hotel but it is not pretending to be, there’s two private bathrooms that are great, the others would need a renovation, the arts and paintings everywhere in the hostel are very cool =) If you’re searching for a trustful, casual friendly place to stay in the city for a great value, this is your spot !

Everything about this hotel is great. It's a little bit rundown and in need of repairs, but the staff are super nice and helpful. We stayed here for 2 weeks and it was perfect for us.

The Hive Hostel offers a great stay in the city. I was there for a few nights, and the hostel was clean, hot water, and had a great location. A few things to know: There is no elevator, so be prepared to climb up or down stairs, but the rooms are spacious and have great amenities like free wifi, TV with cable channels, and comfortable beds. The shower was also really good!

The friendliest, most welcoming and best vibe having hostel in Perth. The staff work hard as hell to keep the guests happy and even though it’s not the best location in Perth, it still feels like a home away from home. Very close to the heart of the CBD so everything you could possibly need is within at least 10 minutes walk. Plenty of public transport nearby too if you wanna get out a bit further and don’t drive. Special shoutout to the manager Mitch, this guy is working himself to the bone to make this hostel a welcoming environment.

price is good, location is great, I do not mind dirty, I do not even mind the noise from the band practicing underground floor, but this place has a serious problem, mattresses are terrible, seriously tooooooo bad, you are never gonna get a good sleep here.

The Hive Hostel is a 2 star hotel that offers simple and comfortable rooms with free Wi-Fi, air conditioning, and a private bathroom. The hostel is located in the center of the city, just next to the train station and easy to reach from all over the world.

  • 5/5 Victoria 1 year ago on Google
This is a great place to stay, but if you're looking for a 5-star experience, this isn't the place. I stayed here with a friend, and it was more than we could have asked for. The staff was friendly and helpful, the beds were comfortable, and everything was clean. The only thing that kept this from being a perfect stay was our room wasn't quite what it looked like online—it took some backtracking to find out that it had been renovated and then remodeled again. The new rooms are fabulous, though!

This hostel was my home for over a year, I loved it until the sociopathic manager ruined it for myself and many others. DO NOT stay here unless you wish to have psycho French woman involve herself into your everyday life. However, she sells mushroom, weed and takes cash payment for spare beds if no beds are available for you to book online.
