Extremely dissatisfied with this hostel. Kitchen was disgustingly unclean. I was staying in a private room with my friends and had my laptop stolen. I spoke to reception and they told me that my friends had stolen my laptop. They denied that cleaners had gone into our room despite our bins having been replaced each day. Finally they advised they do not have any cameras in the hallway outside the room. It’s one thing to not be able to help but to accuse my friends of stealing my personal items is a horrible act. I cannot be any firmer in my recommendation to NOT STAY at this hostel.

Very small rooms. No kitchen!!! 'Kitchenette'= fridges, microwave, toaster and a sink. Minimal cutlery and utensils. Portable carry hobs, 3 out of 4 not working. Hobs don't belong to the hostel therefore not fixed. If food's important to you, don't stay :(

Well located and bedrooms are nice but the staff and especially the manager are to avoid. I booked for a month since all the other hostels were fully booked. You have no kitchen, just a kitchenette, we managed to do salads and heat up our food in the microwave but at some point the manager decided to throw away all of the backpackers's dry food that was in the kitchen (tin cans, rice, closed bags, oil, vinegar, salt, cereals...) even if it was in a bag and labeled with name and departure because of little flies, well flies were lookingfor fresh food... Makes no sens.. So he threw away about 80 dollars that was in my bag, even the bag itself that was worth 20 dollars, a proper bag damn! I was really upset because some of my food was not even open!!! He didn't care at all. Every body in the hostel was so mad, Australian food is so expensive and we felt just robbed. Another thing, the rooms are not cleaned every day unless you ask or if there is a check in, well sorry but it's the most expensive hostel and you expect a good service. Worst experience ever and honestly if you are looking for good vibes and friendly environment this isn't the place, I will never go back there and don't recommend it at all. Thank you for wasting my monney Hostel G!

Really clean and comfortable rooms and staff were friendly too however the vibe of the hostel is a bit strange. Not at all sociable, just lots of people in the dark common areas working on their laptops with headphones on. No events organised and the kitchen area is tiny for the size of the hostel! Great as a place to sleep for the night in a central location but not as a place to meet other travellers.

comfortable bed, clean and new bathrooms, very useful common spaces BUT!! the kitchen is getting worse and worse, in just 1 minute I found 3 bags of bread with fungus, I'm sure it's not very safe for the health of the guests. There are flies flying because surely there is more rotten food. The refrigerators and shelves are full but few people cook, I suspect that there is also very old food, I recommend adopting a system where unregistered food is thrown away. I assure you that you will spend less electricity with your refrigerators.

Poor experience overall. Overpriced (hostel private room for $107/night), disinterested staff & lack of basic amenities (eg soap). Most importantly, one of their staff opened my room at 1am because someone in the lobby mentioned they were looking for someone who shared the same first name as me. They then proceeded to bring this person (who I had never seen before) directly to my door. Inappropriate and a potential security issue - they could have just phoned me or knocked first instead. The two stars are for excellent location and ease of 24/7 access to the accommodation.

Lovely and spacious common area. Good vibes but not quite homey like some other more successful hostels. Rooms are ok but quite small. The beds are a bit saggy in the middle so it’s not great if you have existing back pains. Because the hostel isn’t super busy and popular it seems, the amount of noise is fairly low so that’s good! Kitchen isn’t so great for sure so it’s not a hostel that you’d call home. More of a good place to stay for four nights if you’re just visiting Perth. The standout was definitely the lobby

Slightly pricey for a hostel but it is really nice and comfortable. Shared an XL room for 4 females, there was ample space for our stuff and the toilets were nice and clean too. Common areas were not bad

Overpriced. Their website mention dorms from 32$ per night but nothing under 43$ for 8 bed share. Prices increase to 49$ on weekends. Who pays 49$ a night for a bed in a dorm? You can have a private room at Britannia on Williams for cheaper. I would recommend going to Spinners Hostel if you want a good hostel at a reasonable price.

14 November 2022: Not worth the price, too expensive for its service. Better stay at Spinners. I booked this place because spinners was fully booked. This place is weird because there was no fork in the kitchen, and there was just a pair of chopsticks, plenty of spoons and knives. I had to ask the poor receptionist (a kind white girl) to take forks out from management for everyone to use. The management wants everyone to learn using chopsticks I guess. It is very weird. It took some time and I can feel her stress. It seems like the management purposely did because there is someone not welcomed in the hostel. I am a Chinese anyway and I can use the chopsticks but it just feels weird when there is no fork at all. Then the next day the vending machines are empty and it was full the day before. No sugar and only salt in the kitchen, so no sugar for coffee. It is kinda weird, this place. So I had to ask the same kind receptionist again. She's done a good job. The service from this kind receptionist made my day.

I was pleased with the room. It was clean, comfortable beds and the shower was great. The communal kitchen offers multiple appliances and refrigeration for your perishables. There is a large dining and lounge area. The location is close to CBD.

The rooms are clean and new. But the kitchen has nothing. There's a broken hot plate and a microwave to cook and they don't seem to ever empty the fridge so there's bags labelled with a check outs from weeks ago. Not very welcoming and no vibe. Backpackers looking for a home and friends this is not the one. More like a budget hotel than a hostel.

Great place for student travellers to stay in Perth! They have friendly staff, a nice furnished common area, and compact but sweet rooms. It was my first time staying in a hostel, but the experience is quite good. I’m so glad to have this sweet hostel as my first hostel stay and looking forward to booking again in future.

Service was great. The reception staff were friendly and approachable. The location is good too. It is just a stone's throw away from Perth station. As for the room, it was largely awesome except: One of the clothes hook was broken, the shower gel dispenser was not working (but we still had an extra bottle from the hostel), there was no electric kettle, no cups and the sink is too tiny.

It basically is what it is for the price with a few good and bad points which is why I’m leaving three stars. The entrance is well hidden and if you walked past you would not know it was there. The day shift staff are friendly but the guy at the desk late evening and early morning was highly unhelpful. I had a single room and it was extremely clean and well maintained. Housekeeping staff were friendly and helpful. Although the room is great it is extremely stuffy and the air conditioning doesn’t help. There seemed to be a gym very close by as the sound of weights being dropped on the ground almost made the room shake. Would have been nice to have facilities shown or at least a map where to find them as it seemed an inconvenience to ask the night guy.

Beds were really comfortable. Rooms (I stayed in a 4 bed female dorm) were small but clean. However, kitchen was minuscule compared the numbers that were living in the hostel, pls consider expanding the kitchen!! There was also a lack of hostel/social activities, a first in the hostels I’ve visited. Too many long-term guests staying as well, maybe consider housing them in separate rooms as it really detracts from the hostel experience as a visitor.

I stayed in the 4 bed female dorm. It has a good amount of space for your belongings and felt as clean as a hotel. The negatives are the lack of social events or effort put into making your stay at the hostel fun and social. As well as this the main complaint would be the kitchen facilities. There is no oven and there are two little stoves which aren’t the best. So you are required to only ever cook microwave or very basic meals. It is also so so expensive.

Located at convenient location. Near train station. Easy to roam around and not to far from CBD. Rooms are great. Staff and security very supportive and accommodating. Love to choose again for stay while in Perth on future. Nice room with locker for each bed.

Hostel G used to be about quality. Now they have touched the bottom. They are refusing to provide smallest bar of soap in the private toilet of a private room costing $200 per night. Customers are told in the middle of night that hostel G does not provide something as basic as soap to wash hands. In the middle of COVID epidemic, I wonder if that is even legal.

Rooms were comfortable. But it was the only good thing in there. The kitchen was always EXTREMELY dirty. There were not kitchen utensils, no cups, no can opener, nothing. There was no oven and ONLY ONE hob for all the hostel. Someone stole our food from the fridge and also my friend’s watch from our bedroom. I wouldn’t recommend this hostel at all.

All the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Including the security. Good shared space and full of interesting people. My room smelled a lot like feet, but I couldn’t hold that against the venue itself.

Nothing to complain about (except that the pool tables were missing one ball each haha)! We stayed at Hostel G for two night in a 4 people dorm. It was very clean, the staff nice, and the beds were luckily already made. We also had our own bathroom. The hostel offers pool and table soccer for free in the common area which was nice. We didn't go the breakfasts but I think there was one available for like 5$

This review is for the Head Office/Venue Owners to consider taking some action on the kitchen venue. I have been a loyal customer of Hostel G for their outstanding staff at the reception, especially Bella, Mika and Jordan, and the comfortable bed they offer after my hard-working days. Still, the kitchen has always been an issue at this hostel, but now it only worsens it. The current average price per night is $57 in a shared room, making this hostel the most expensive in Perth. I think after the multiple reviews from your customers suggesting a proper kitchen, you should consider putting some effort towards it. Today I woke up with no toaster nor microwave, so it is not only no stoves but nothing else to cook a meal. This is a constructive review. I hope it will soon be considered, so I can change my starts review.

Great landing place! I booked this hostel for my son (22y) going on a backpacking trip. He had a great time (we extended it to 2 weeks). He met really cool people from all over the world. I think the staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms were decent. Allowed a bit of privacy. (expect people to snore!)

It's a nice hostel, in a great location, 10 minutes walk to the center. The price is good for what you get, rooms are clean and the service is good. Only problem I noticed is that the common kitchen only has two fires working. With that being said, I would really recommend it if you are planning a visit to Perth.

Good hostel, 10 minutes walk from Perth train station. The 4-bed room is ok, but the sink is useless because there is a shelf 20 cm above the sink, which makes it impossible to use the sink except for washing your hands. A very good supermarket (SUPA IGA) can be easily reached on foot in just under 10 minutes, and you can also reach all sorts of pubs, cafes, restaurants and cinemas in the city within a 15-minute walk. There are many good options in the hostel to relax and work on your laptop, and there are also washing machines and dryers for a fee (approx. 4 AUD). There is also a snack and drinks machine at fair prices. The kitchen is actually sparsely equipped for a hostel, which spoils the overall impression a little. Everything is very clean and everything works. I find the bed very comfortable and high quality for a hostel, the price/performance ratio is definitely good.

Hostel G is a really nice place. But please snorers don't come to hostels and go to hotels or private rooms. Don't interrupt a roommate who sleeps quietly in a hostel room, and don't rationalize his or her faults with his or her own selfish ideas. Go to another hotel or a private room. And please don't use hostel utilities, public stuff, toilets and kitchens as dirty as pigcages. After use, restore it to its original state as clean as it was. (Housekeepers are supporters, not medieval slaves.) Please throw away trash and cigarette butts in the trash. Weed is a personal preference but don't get drugged up and fight over small things please. You are a grown man, not a child! Summary: Don't rationalize your mistakes individually selfishly while living in a hostel room.

the beds are comfy but you have to make the bed and strip them at the end (fitted sheet etc) we arrived late at night and it’s a struggle making a 6 foot bed above sleeping peoples heads quietly. First hostel we’ve had this experience & one of the more expensive ones.

  • 4/5 Patrick M. 4 months ago on Google
I liked the hostel. Friendly reception and bar staff, good facilities, and good common area facilities. Great north bridge location. Lost a star (to be fair) only as there were two incidents where the cleaner physically attacked me with a vacuum cleaner and other cleaning supplies because I was working (digital nomad) in one of the common spaces and as I explained to him I couldn’t accommodate his request to move myself and my laptop at the time (July 2023).

The upsidethe beds are good, the rooms are clean there is a shower in the rooms which is cool. The downside.. The place has alot more potential there are 2 pool tables and 2 hand soccer tables... but there is no cue or balls for either so it's basically a waste... The kitchen is awefull there is not enough room either dishes or cutlery.. there is not enough fridges no freezer at all... I hope the management fixes these things as they are not expensive to fix...and would make the place more fun to stay 😊

1/5 Disappointed that the Aircon/heater wos turned off to save money On level two. But on level one at reception that whole level was very warm.the room was very cold so I could not turn the heater on it was quite uncomfortable most nights some nights I slept with my clothes on. i stay there for a week first day I had no bedsheets I had asked for them. The hot water once I set the temperature after about a minute it just went extremely hot where it was burning and then it would go cold again then it would go hot again so on and so on and that was very unpleasant for a whole week that I stay there there was no repair man that came to repair it I did bring it to their attention. The room wos nice an modern it’s a shame that they don’t have double beds only two single beds pushed together that was a bit disappointing considering I was paying top dollar for a private room with a toilet and shower. The common areas were great and very spacious. The kitchen is very very small and requires several things including a hotplate so people can actually cook some food after all it is a hostel that’s one of the main reasons I choose to stay in a hostel. My private room did not have a TV this was very disappointing especially paying $575 for a week .every private room I’ve stayed in hotel or hostel always has a TV I can see why this hostel was very empty with a very few people staying there . You’re not allowed to bring your own alcohol there just so you’ll have to buy from them pretty disappointing. Thay had security there 24 seven which was pretty good. The elevator broke down twice had to use the stairs carrying my luggage. Then my card didn’t access my room the second day I was there the guy at reception said my accommodation was cancelled I had to show him the receipt then he re instated it. The pillows on the bed weren’t very high at all. My opinion is this hostel still needs a lot of work and a lot of changes to be made ASAP there are several other hostels in very close short proximity people will just go to them

Reception was very rude, unfriendly.Came all the way from Melbourne to renew my passport, and only stay for 4 days.Had already inform police that I’m going out the the embassy to renew my passport, police has no problem with it.They didn’t let me know anything about my lunch and dinner,so I went out for my lunch and came back. The receptionist saw me and ask me to leave the hostel. The reason I gave one star not because he asked me to leave,it’s the way he spoke to me, it was very rude. He said he is not doing any refund and gonna call the police if I don’t leave in an hour. It’s a nice place and nice room, but I felt disappointed because of the receptionist. He is a guy with beard, extremely rude.

Great! I love staying there. Close to the city. Very easy to find. Secure. Clean. Ensuite. Comfy beds. Lovely linen. Privacy in shared rooms. Good lockers and storage. Just need your own padlocks.

Awesome place to stay. Kitchen just almost non existent. So if you plan to cook all your meals I wouldn't recommend staying here. Otherwise great.

Didn’t take any photos as I don’t want to post people’s faces but it is a nice hostel where you can find people from lot of places and interact with them The only negative Side of the hostel is the kitchen as it is not a proper kitchen. The beds and pillows are comfy and having your own bathroom is “a plus”.

Great place to stay while Im doing my transit on RnR off fifo. Room is cleaned everyday, share amenities is great as well. Receptionists are great, once I booked on the wrong date (a week on advance than the actual date) and the female receptionist tailored my stay on my arrival evening. No drama, very helpful, and ofcourse a thumbs up for the business.. great location, clean, great service... 😊

A bed and access to toilet. Perfect for sleeping and a pit stop. Roommates are alright but might end up with dodgy ones or homeless people. I didn't mind but for others who are against that

  • 4/5 Zac E. 1 year ago on Google
Great place to stay, well furnished rooms with aircon. The only down side is the 'kitchenette'. At the time I stayed there was only 2 microwaves, 2 toasters and 2 kettles to use for the entire hostel (300+ people), just something to bear in mind before staying there. That said, I had A great stay.

  • 3/5 Chiara G. 3 months ago on Google • 2 reviews New
Our double private room was amazing (very small sink in the bathroom but it's not that bad). Beds super comfy, air-conditioning and cleaning service for free. Common areas always clean and quiet. Reception always kind and available. Kitchenette... Not satisfied at all. It only has microwaves, toasters and air friers. We stayed two weeks but we struggled a lot to eat healthy food, because of the few possibilities of cooking. The prize is a little bit high, compared to the offered services. I would recommend this hostel for a short stay.
