A lot of noise and parties, not recommended if you are working. Dirty bathrooms, air wasn’t well, and the fan was loud. For me that’s important to know if you are planning to stay during the summer. Also, I paid a month in advance and finally stayed only 2 weeks. I spoke with the owner to negotiate if he could return my money for at least one week, but he never answered me again. The only thing that is good from the hostel are the prices and that include breakfast (toast with peanut butter, nutella or jam)

Stayed at this hostel for months and was happy with the free breakfasts. Had my flight cancelled when I was due to leave so ended up staying an additional night which I forgot to pay. The owner then rang the airport claiming I owed him hundred of dollars and tried to get me on the no fly list. For $20. This was in the panic of Corona when everyone was trying to get home. Absolutely disgusted with Charlies behaviour let alone how inappropriate he is towards women - me and my gf Ambre. Thanks Charlie πŸ‘ paid you so much money and you try to sabotage me for $20. Should also highlight the constant problems with bedbugs. Don't buy the fact this is irregular.

Only hostel I've ever left 5 stars for. The rooms were a good size with air-conditioning which has become an important feature I have found in Oz. The size of the hostel gives a really homely, tight-knit feel to it. Most of the staff stay within the hostel itself so you know they care about the place as it is also their home and they are all friendly. Free use of towels without a deposit, free detergent for laundry, free breakfast that seemed to be out until 12pm every day - this hostel is not trying to squeeze you dry. Ended up meeting the owner and he was a really nice guy who really seemed to care about his hostel and the people there. About a 10 minute walk from the CBD but just far enough outside so the noise is nonexistent. A really charming little place, I have stayed in a lot of hostels all over the world and this has been my favourite.

Really bad hostel. Rooms way too small, AC not working, loads of perminant residents. Booked five nights but had to leave after two. Edit; haha owner responding after 8 months. Not taking complaints seriously. Says enough I’d say.

By far the number one hostel in Perth! Charly is the best owner you can imagine. Free food night every week and a good, chill atmosphere. Close to the city and quite at night. A big park is just across the street and a supermarket is in walking distance. Free parking spots are also available within a 5 min walk. This hostel is just amazing and felt like home after the first day. Btw: I stayed here now for almost 11 months!

unclean place, small and inadequate rooms for a long stay of the boys, confused common areas. on my arrival the bed was not worthy of being presented for a guest who paid, sheets looked used by others. during my stay I got bedbugs. I don't recommend this place.

I would probably give this place 3.5 stars but hey, I’ll go for 4. Pros; clean bathrooms, clean enough kitchen, nice lounge, big lockers in rooms, extension cords so top bunks could access them as well, free breakfast, seems safe. Cons; long term guests trash the rooms, so much junk and dirty dishes, the room smelt a bit off… potential for bed bugs which you sign off a wavier for before your stay that you’re aware of it.

I was warmly welcomed by the owner of the hostel & its crew when I arrived during burger night! Beyond that I've appreciated my stay there which was part of my first Australian experience! Mathilde

We have stayed here for over a month now. Love it here. Very homely feel and lovely staff. They give you free toast in the mornings with saves some money. Definitely recommend if you’re wanting to stay more long term/work as most people are in the same boat and very respectful!

Nice and quiet place to stay. Close to everything you need. Not a big party hostel but always good to have a quiet few

Never judge a book by the cover, not that there was much wrong with the cover either. This place is a gem. Hands on management by the owner ensures there is a real desire to ensure guests are happy. Book ahead, this us a great place to be

Breakfast (toast with peanut butter or jam) included. Thea and coffee free all day. Perfect hostel not to big. The living room and outside are perfect to meet people.

Australia proudly drains your wallet with surprisingly poor accomodation. Market has become too greedy. We understand it is tough to recover from fixed costs and low revenue during Covid19 and now rising running costs due to inflation. But.

Stayed at this hostel for a few weeks now and my overall experience was really good ! The rooms are kept clean aswell as the hostel itself. The staff are really friendly and helpful and organise free dinner nights from a BBQ to fajitas ! Aswell as trips to wineries and other spectacular places around perth !

Beautiful time spent in this hostel. Wonderful personnel, common rooms always clean, very good vibes. The kitchen is good too with a lot of new ustensiles. We took a double room which was perfect for the price. Confortable double bed, good free wifi... Property, security and friendliness.. Hightly recommended ! !

I spent so much time there. And it was booked out. I was not even allowed top visit my friends after I spent 2 month of spending money there. Not even to say hello. I mean its okay if you never have been there. But I spent so much money there and they didnt even allow anyone there. Sorry but it is about social lifestyle and and people conneting. They shout it Down. Thanks for the time I was booked in. But dont worry. I wont return.

Good chilled out vibe, very easy going and welcoming. Facilities were good, only down side was waiting for the shower at peak times and the room was a little cold (but was the end room in early july). Would still recommend πŸ‘

The shiralee was definitely the best hostel I stayed at in Perth. Small intimate hostel, clean aswell and friendly staff. What really knocks it out of the park is the vibe. If you are a solo traveller who is a bit shy, the shiralee is a great way to meet new friendly people.
