Arrived at 7am after informing the hostel I'd be there that early. Door was locked on arrival, with shutters over reception and no one answering multiple calls. At 9:30am went away to get breakfast and find something to pass the time. I returned at 3pm to an email that I had "checked in late", automatically charged from my bank account and to let myself in with the code. Costly vending machine for water ate my card with no resolution than physically finding it and pulling it out, and no locker provided in the 8 bed dorm to store my valuables. Having seen no one or received any communication after multiple emails and calls, can only describe this experience as poor, alienated and a disappointment. Avoid this hostel.

Always a great atmosphere! The people and service are great and you will always be able to find somewhere to relax or have fun! Huge kitchen and bathrooms nice!

DO NOT STAY HERE. Hostel is absolutely disgusting. Kitchen full of dirty dishes and stunk, probably something dead and decaying. Room had no air con or windows, 40 degrees outside. Requested a refund for my stay and instead I get charged another fee instead of being refunded. Absolutely awful experience, traumatic! Communication with Hostel is terrible! Cannot believe this place can actually stay open for business. Utter disgrace!!!!

Do you like bugs, dirty dishes & messy rooms? Belongings lining the hallways & rooms for longer than I have lodged here. Hard to sweep the floor when you can’t see it… Long term lodgers leave their bags in ‘their room’ for when they return rather than the storage room. Oh and no one new has checked into your room this week? Forget about a bin change. Half the time there’s no toilet paper, the laundry machines are disgusting. $12 for a load of laundry, your joking. My clothes come out dirtier than when I put them in. ‘Free breakfast’…. On the days the staff remember. When they come in at 10am. Dishes you have to clean before and after you cook. Welcome to JJ backpackers! (Where we’re left to fend for ourselves) The owner is lovely… but take pride in your business. The place where many of us call home away from home is becoming embarrassing to admit you stay here.

Great kitchen facilities and clean dorms. Other than this, it is centrally located to all the best places in Perth. The staff was really helpful to guide us through the local places and were prompt with their services. We could not have expected a better stay with any other backpacker accommodation in Perth. With rates as cheap as $12, they surely offer more than you can expect!

Great hostel in the heart of Northbridge. Good, big kitchen that doesn't close, large walk in fridge. Pool table + Table tennis table and lots of couches and places to chill. Rooms are secure with key card entry which is also a plus. Staff are always very kind and accommodating and go out of their way to help you in any way that they can. Recommended to anyone visiting Perth :) A+

JJ's Backpackers hostel is definitely among the best in Australia. I stayed there and for 7 days. It is well organised, neat and cleaned always. It is equipped with awesome facilities and very homely. I was very happy that I chose the hostel to stay out of the ones in Perth for my backpacking experience. Staff are friendly. The manager, Talita, is a good listener and always does brilliantly to solve difficult situations. Lodgers relate happily and socially and mutually interact together like family. I will not hesitate to recommend the hostel.

JJ’s tried to cancel our stay as they could not facilitate late check in, this was less than 48 hours before we arrived in Perth and was very stressful. After discussion they agreed we could check in the following morning, the receptionist was friendly but did not provide us with the key code for the front door, fortunately another guest heard us knocking and let us in that evening. The kitchen was incredibly dirty and our room was cold. We did not see any staff at the hostel apart from at check in. The best part about JJ’s is definitely the location.

Dirtiest place ever! Employees really nice and courteous. Help you with problems ... Check in was easy. Breakfast aussie-like. The kitchen and the fridge were cleaned once a week and looked like before. The teatowels were always wet. Everything was a little sticky. The showers were already ok, !!!but mold on the ceiling would simply be painted over with white paint!!!! The rooms have no windows! I was glad I got out without foot fungus :D :D :D

If you are looking for an affordable, centrally located backpacker’s hostel in Perth city with easy access to the transportation facilities, I would say Mumma’s Hostel is your best bet. They have helpful and friendly staff, free wifi, clean rooms with comfortable beds, and good food!

JJ’s may be the most accommodating hostel I’ve ever been to in my years backpacking different countries. James and Jane are friendly and professional and leave you wanting for nothing. The rooms are nice, the tv rooms are comfortable, the facilities are clean, the vibes are high. And the kitchen has ovens which is a most welcome added bonus.

Home away from home , Cozy, frndly, owners go out of way in assisting all guest. Very near to all amenities. I have been backpacking for last 15 years around the world, found this backpacker a gem... I stayed here for a few months and the owners were so lovely! It was like a little home away from home and everything was done to make sure your stay was as comfortable as possible. Most rooms were still at half capacity which I enjoyed and lots of kitchen space :) the only thing I can think to mention is that Henry summers is next door so noise is pretty loud on Friday and Saturday nights but the upside is that it’s also in a great location and your headphones cover the noise pretty well. Would definitely come and stay again x

Really enjoyed my time at JJ's, definitely became a home away from home whilst in Perth. Location is great with a free CAT bus just outside the property. The hostel is super clean and has free breakfast. 2 big comfy TV rooms and a pool table enjoyment. Jane and James the owners are lovely, and always happy for a good chat, thank you for being like a family to me 😃

Absolut gem !!! The place is so equipped with a big walk in fridge, ovens and a big freezer (wich are normally so rare in hostels by themselves) . Also the owners are absolut sweethearts. I can only recommend staying there.

Great place to stay. Staff were mainly friendly. Didn’t like the double beds in the shared rooms though as the people next to me had sex all the time whilst everyone else was in the room. Also, it was heavily french populated which was quite annoying.

I stayed for almost a month at JJ's backpacker. I found there a great place to stay and have fun ! Big pool room, 2 spacious TV room, a great kitchen well furnished, bedroom cleant quite often. The owners Jayne and James have always been very friendly, helpful and fair. The backpacker is also located right in the city centre of the city. It offers proximity with all facilities around, pubs, restaurants, clubs, library. In a nutshell I have had a great moment there and I strongly recommend you this place. Thanks !

JJ's has been the most welcoming hostel I have stayed in while in Australia. The hostel is always kept clean and tidy. It's got two large sofa rooms with smart TVs, which is great for when you want to chill, but with social events most evening's, it's a great place to meet people!

Cannot recommend JJs enough, the owners James & Jayne are brilliant and make it an extra special place to be. It’s super clean, friendly, and in the best location. Absolute best hostel we’ve stayed in in Australia, love the fab people we met here and wouldn’t have chosen anywhere else in Perth. I wouldn’t waste your time staying here. I had let them know far in advance I was checking in late and on the day that my flight was delayed. I was given check in information by text which is fine. I arrived at the hostel at 5am and tried to get in. I used the codes followed all the instructions but couldn’t get in at all. I felt stranded and called the number that was provided despite it not being in use between 8pm and 9am. I’ve never been more let down by a hostel and has also been the most stressful experience I have come across since I have been away. 4 months by now. Luckily I had another hostel booked for the following night which let me in and where lovely.

great hostel with reasonable pricing ! the service at the reception was already really kind, the rooms are secure with a keycard, the kitchen is huge with plenty of storage and lots of couches to hang out. Stayed here long term whilst working in Construction, met people that have become life long friends. Aaron has brought new life to the hostel after previous management were lacklustre. Definetly worth staying if you are looking for a long term place to stay whilst on a WHV.

Was going to book but manager was rude and abusive towards me discriminated because I have a back injury and cannot climb up to a top.bunk.i tried to be polite and explain. The staff and fellow travelers were super nice and awesome. My only complaint is that when I checked out I didn’t have to leave for another 2 hours and they insisted on charging me $10 for using their facilities after checkout. I checked out on time and was just sitting on the couch. I’ve never had another hostel make me leave directly after checkout and it was a huge inconvenience since it was boiling outside and I didn’t really have anywhere to go. I don’t think they realize travelers are trying to save money and are homeless

Best hostel I've stayed in, owners are the heart and soul of the place and make everyone feel at home there. Great atmosphere, nice people, plenty to do - Pool, Table tennis, Darts, 2x huge TVs with Netflix and PS4/Wii, events nearly everyday, most with free drinks at bars closeby and fantastic advice from the owners on things to see/do in Perth, also free breakfast every morning... What more to ask for!

DONT EXTENDS YOUR STAY WITH THEM...If you extend your stay you actually have to pay more that if you do another booking online which totally make no sense even for people that have been there for more than a month they pay more that if you go online a make a booking which is outrageous and it's coming apparently from the ownership who I guess enjoy stealing from theirs loyal guest. The fact that the reception and common area only opens at 9 am is also a bit annoying. Sometimes it's hard to get in touch with someone at the reception because they have lots of others tasks to do. I can really recommend staying here! The owners of this hostel are so nice and caring, plus the standard of the accommodation is higher than any other hostel I've been to before.
