Food served tasted really good. Coffee was excellent and love the retro-ness of the place. Service was efficient and staff were friendly enough. Heaps of parking surrounding the Cafe which helps

Went here for breakfast. The diner feel is a really fun atmosphere. Service was great and real friendly. We had the all day breakfast bagel and the satchmo bagel. Both were great, the egg in the all day breakfast was gooey and delightful and the corned beef with the pickle is a winning combo. The bagels were lovely and fresh and full to bursting with the fillings. Great little spot.

A cafe with a bit of a twist, including some Cajun and Jewish dishes that make it worth trying. We tried Mama's Matzoball Soup that seemed like a simple dish but turned out to have a rich and flavourful broth containing a single dumpling that soaked up the broth. We also tried the Louisiana Gumbo that had seafood in a thick, complex and mildly spicy broth. The flavour packed a punch, and the seafood was ok although had an overcooked texture especially with the prawns that were hard and tough. Overall, it's good to try their less common dishes however note that the restaurant does mildly smell of their special food and this can get in your clothes if you sit indoors.

My favorite cafe in Perth ❤️ Don't be fooled by the simple NY diner decor, each dish packs a punch of flavour and tells us the chef really understands good soul food. You can't beat their classic, wholesome cherry pie. An absolute delight every time I visit.

The Matzo ball soup and the seafood gumbo were delicious! The bagel and horseradish that came on the side were so good, definitely going back for more bagels. Would also definitely get the gumbo again, there was surprisingly actually half a crab and lots of clams in there, and a generous serve of corn bread. The peanut butter milkshake was thick and delicious too! Lactose free milk available.

Hard to see why it's popular. Iced coffee served in a child's plastic beaker, bagel is very average with a lump of uncooked heated tomato which left the rest soggy.

3.5 stars Venue: plenty of free carpark opposite mall. All decoration and furniture are 70s style. Good maintenance. Vinyl records at the corner. Background music. Live band outdoor on Sunday. --- 7.2/10 Service: nice and helpful staff. Tap water when requested. Normal waiting time. --- 7.2/10 Food: Jewish or American style food. The food portion is normal. - Reuben Sandwich, $19: very juicy. The bottom toast was soaked with the dressing. --- 7.5/10 - Mamma's Matzoball Soup, $19.5: Jewish dish. A lot of shredded chicken meat and skin in the soup. Bagel with poppy seeds was dry and not well-toasted.The flavor of soup was good in depth. But, the volume of soup was too small for such price. Not enough soup. --- 6/10 - Hot Chocolate, $4.2: smaller portion. - Iced Latte, $4.7: same size as hot chocolate. Ok, as it's not full of ice.

Good food and good coffee- definitely lives up to its name! Had the fried egg plant bun and smoked salmon cream cheese bagel with coffee and was not disappointed. Look forward to trying more dishes here. They were quite full but things to mention - server said she’d bring a baby chair but forgot about this and the spoon I got with my coffee had sticky residue on the handle that had me quite put off- though the server stated it was probably honey. Overall still a great experience!

Super busy during the Sunday lunch rush, clearly they must be doing something right. Food was well priced and quite decent. The crepes with ricotta was okay... but without a doubt the star of the show is their Reuben sandwich, maybe the best we've ever had!

Absolutely AWESOME cafe! Great food, great service, and a really cool retro style cafe. So popular, heaps of customers constantly coming in and out. Great overall experience, I was pleasantly surprised! Good portion sizes and very affordable for such a good cafe. A hidden gem in North Perth.

Been going here for years and they consistently make a great cup of coffee (especially when the owner is at the machine) as well generous, delicious meals. They're open early, but a meal here can easily tide you over till the afternoon. I highly recommend the gumbo, matzo ball soup, chicken sandwich, and meatball hoagie. My friends praise the bagels. Their weekend specials are a treat, and they host a jazz band every Sunday morning from 9.30

Stopped into Satchmo Cafė today and I can honestly say its the best place to get a bagel in Perth 😍🥯.....and their coffee is pretty good too! I always order The 'Rachel' or the 'Satchmo' bagel and never disappointed. The staff our very friendly and its not too expensive.

Staff are top notch, coffee is the best I've had in Perth, didn't know bagels could taste that good and the atmosphere is what I've been looking for for years. If I could give it a higher rating I would. I just wish they had a power outlet for my laptop.

The Reuben Sandwich is absolutely loaded and I needed a knife and fork to tackle it. Bring an appetite. All the elements work well together in good ratio. The onion rye bread is so good. Loved the pickle in there with the sauerkraut and corned beef. The latter was a bit dry and same ish after a while. I prefer pastrami. I wouldn't normally spend $19 on a sarnie but this kept me going all day.

Came here to check it out for their Philly Cheesesteak, and so glad I did. It was a good sized roll, and definitely one for the cheese lovers. The picture I took looks like there’s too much. But for me, it was absolutely perfect. The rest of their menu items look really good as well, also check out the fridge where you order for some sweet treats. They were good with times from ordering to getting food and drinks as well. So definitely worth a revisit. Their coffee game is good. But could be a little better, but still enjoyed the coffee. The cafe is small. So you can either book and reserve a table. Or wait a little bit for a table, it’s worth waiting for.

Exceptional food. Huge serving size and the best cheese steak I've had in Perth, reasonably priced too. All of the sandwiches looked incredible, and the key lime pie was delicious.

A google search for a good breakfast led us here from Kings Park and I can honestly say it was a good recommendation. Busy, Busy, Busy at around 9am on a Sunday morning and Samantha and I were salivating at the sights of a simple, but very tasty breakfast. Just as we were leaving, a three piece band started playing, and we were ⁶ to stay a bit longer

Satchmo Cafe on Fitzgerald St is a great little spot, especially on Sunday mornings, when they have a little jazz combo performing. Tasty food & coffee, and there's usually plenty of vinyl available too.

This place is small but mighty! It says soul food in the window and that’s exactly what it is… everything on the menu is hearty and a foodie dream! We had the ricotta filled crepes with berry compote and caramelised banana, topped off with incredibly sweet homemade iced tea. The girls were so friendly and that place was busting at the seams with people. I can’t wait to go back and try more of the menu! Insta: thenibblenotes

Excellent food and service. This is a nice taste of home for me, really happy to have found a place to get a NOLA flavor fix.

Have been to this lunch shop a few times and the level of service and the quality of the food does not seem to change. The place is reasonably clean and the clientele are respectful of others trying to enjoy their meal and or their coffee which is not bad at all.

Different vibe to older venue however good to know most of the items still taste the same. Great place for good soul food! Not to far out of the way from the city 🫶🏼

Been here a few times already. On this occasion, we ordered the balsamic roasted mushrooms and the knish. I have to say it was the best. Mainly due the previous times we had desserts and I'm more of a savoury person. The meal was flavoursome, staff friendly and trendy atmosphere. Bonus that it was also on the entertainment book 😁

Always excellent coffee, friendly staff - no hassle or rudeness here. Great breakfast. Nice jazz music playing, but crucially not too loud. Good selection of records (LPs) for sale. Dog friendly ( outside).

Been coming to Satchmo for years and never disappoints! Friendly attentive staff and seriously the best cafe food in town. It's rare to find an establishment that stands the test of time and keeps on getting better! We went there on a Sunday and the atmosphere was buzzing! Live jazz band, had the Rachel Bagel, fantastic and the new Sambo Sandwich, decadent goodness! Coffee was nice and strong. Thanks again Satchmo for the wonderful time.

Was so looking forward to lunch here - unfortunately the fried chicken sandwich was super dry and the lettuce had been replaced with baby spinach. Watermelon juice was quite small and filled to the brim with ice. Service just ok. Disappointing overall😪

Its a really quirky place with a fabulous menu. It was the first time I tried a gumbo and if that's what jumbos taste am all in for it.. the blitzes were a true treat ... I tried a mocha and that I wouldn't recommend as it was really weak and sad.

Breakfast at Satchmo Cafe in North Perth this morning was nothing short of delicious for my tastebuds! 🤤The Holy Garden Focaccia (maple sweet potato, baked cauliflower, kale pesto and roasted red peppers) is the best. Vegan friendly too! Happy all round and will return.

The rolls/sandwiches/hoagies here are awesome. The coffee is consistently well made here too. I don't have coffee everyday so when a coffee is bad it really annoys me, but these guys have never let me down

Ammmmmmasing breakfast I had, just to make you wonder of the taste: it was eggs on toast with a sweet and sour kale chutney and mushrooms marinated in balsamic glaze!!!

Went to this place for lunch with the family. I got a Blintzes. Pancake with cheese and jam. Tasted good. The coffee from this place also good. Pancakes were about 17 dollars. Kid got Eggs on Toast. 14 dollars. Got a taste. Every cooked well. My wife ordered a fried chicken dish, which probably tasted the best of all three

Jesse from Alfred’s suggested this joint and boy-o-boy did he mail it on the recommend. The Reuben was to die for - so legit. The coffee great, the venue so cosy and welcoming. Great staff. Just such a winner all around.

Very cool vibe - feels like you’re in an American diner. Great coffee (the Batch Brew is great), and the menu is very unique compared to other cafes in Perth with New York/Jewish style dishes. Food was delicious and large portions (I had the Meatball Hoagie). Staff were friendly too. Can’t ask for much more

Funky corner cafe. Delicious bagels with lots of topping options. PLUS very good gluten free bagels! I had scrambled eggs on a bagel and an oat cap. Food and coffee both good 👏

I contacted Nathan from Satchmo 24 hours before requiring catering for a funeral. Nathan was kind, considerate and very giving of his time to me. Nathan and the Satchmo Cafe went above and beyond making this catering happen for me and my family. I managed to organise this from Interstate and thanks to Nathan it was the smoothest easiest process from beginning to end. Whilst the day itself was hard, the guests at the post-funeral reception stopped to appreciate the food and even sent me messages asking where the peanut butter brownies were from! - Huge hit! From the bottom of my heart, I really thank Satchmo for helping me tick this task off of my list on what was a stressful day for me and my family.

My go-to food spot. Absolutely love this place. Love getting the Reuben Bagel Sandwich, honestly the best bagel sandwich in Perth in my opinion. If you're looking for something bit more spicy, go with the Gumbo soup! Staff is friendly and attentive too. Food comes quickly no matter how busy they are. Keep up the good work team!

Good food, good jazz, good ambience, good energy. Our favorite place to have a brunch in Sunday morning. We order their Louisiana gumbo and their special po‘boy sandwich and it’s so good!!!!

Quaint American diner style cafe/restaurant. Cozy atmosphere. Intimate floor space. Large serves. Delicious food :)

  • 5/5 Andrea S. 1 year ago on Google
Casual diner vibes with friendly staff. Food we ordered was delicious! But just a heads up to anyone who may be planning to use the entertainment book - they don’t accept this anymore (apparently because they’ve moved a couple of doors down). But don’t let that stop you from eating there. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal and will definitely be back 😊

  • 5/5 Lauren S. 2 years ago on Google
Such a cute retro vibe and fantastic bagels to match. Will definitely return to try some of the other soul food!

  • 4/5 Darcy A. 1 year ago on Google
Absolutely smashing food. In particular, the blintzes, Reuben and bagels. The atmosphere is calm, lovely jazz winding through the cafe, with cute booths as well as tables to sit at in a light and simple space. Coffee brew isn’t bad, but with a bit of tweaking I would give five stars. Definitely don’t let it stop you, it’s still good for a cuppa. Heads up: they’ve moved next door to their previous space, and are now on the corner.
