The new museum is very boring now it has been revamped. Half of the old exhibits are missing, the big dinosaur is tucked away in a corner and doesn’t roar anymore, we only found it coz we got lost. The mammoths and stuffed animals are no longer there… very disappointing since the old museum was so interactive and had so much more history. Money poorly spent from the Govt. once again

It’s amazing museum !!! There combines 4 rooms: Origins, Change, Transform, and Wildlife. It’s combination between History and Science. Many beautiful decoration. Even the tiny organisms such as insect, spider, frog. They can be displayed with interesting looks. It’s free entry, some time, you can enjoy the beautiful show at night. The building is so elegant. Toilet is cleaned and good.

I visited the new museum for the first time today and was incredibly disappointed. I went specifically to see the visiting Ancient Greek exhibit which I thoroughly enjoyed, it was wonderful to see the ancient sculptures and pottery and was of particular interest to me because I have always loved Greek mythology. The Greek exhibit was amazing, I would give that a solid four and a half stars but unfortunately I can't separate my review of it from my review of the rest of the museum. It was wonderfully laid out with a logical flow of categories and information, it was calm and self paced and provided a calm and quiet space to learn and observe the beautiful ancient history before you. I could have spent hours in there, it was wonderful. But I was unbelievably disappointed by the rest of the museum. The new architecture is sort of impressive from the outside but is bland and uninspiring inside and the buildings are incredibly confusingly laid out. The ground floor is disconnected from anything else and has areas where you have to exit one building and enter a completely new one for no reason and getting from floor to floor is also unnecessarily convoluted. As for the actual exhibits themselves, they're incredibly boring, have almost no interactive elements, and are mostly poorly made plastic replicas. The original Perth museum had far more genuine specimens and artefacts and it appears as though they've just thrown away most of what made the old museum interesting. Maybe they just threw the actual ancient history in the bin, because none of it is on display in the new museum. I hope not. There is almost no logical order to the way the exhibits are arranged, as well. I would have expected natural history to be in one area, human history another, etc but it's all jumbled up into incredibly nonsensical categories of "change" and "origin" instead, with displays of almost no connection next to each other. There is almost no flow or logic behind anything. Also, there is very few staff around. During my visit, I encountered two staff at the front desk and one manning the paid Greek exhibition entrance, and that was it. There should have been staff at each exhibition at the very least. It was also weirdly inaccessible for people with any sort of disability, particularly neurodivergent people like myself. The exhibitions are all far away from each other and anyone with a mobility issue would struggle to get between areas, and the exhibits themselves are incredibly overwhelming from a sensory perspective. There's too much going on in every area, with lights and sounds and sudden noises but none of it is of any substance and none of it provides any sort of interactivity, either. It's needlessly overwhelming. Honestly, I wish they had left the old museum as it was. It may have been kitsch and old fashioned but at least the exhibits were interesting and you felt like you had learned something when you left.

Quite disappointing, giving three star only because it was free entrance. Most of the themes were quite random, and not WA exclusive at all! I can't even call this a museum, to me it's more of random exhibitions served for education programs and political correctness... Would love to see more mention around WA specific cultures and histories.

From the outside it looks really impressive and you would think there would be tons of exhibits to get lost in. Unfortunately that's not the case. It feels huge and empty and I wish there was more space devoted to pieces. Hands down my favourite area was the mineral specimens and the fossil spaces, but overall the Museum just felt devoid of content or just really lacklustre displays. I hope it gets better over time though as there's tons of room for exhibits and display areas.

This would have to be one of the best museums in Australia - it’s like the architect and curators didn’t have a budget because it’s perfectly laid out with detailed and interactive exhibitions. There’s a heavy emphasis on WA history but hey, it’s the WA museum. It’s fresh, contemporary, aesthetically pleasing and a great way to lose yourself for a day in the amazing collections. Even better, it’s free!

FREE So, now that it is open, turn up early is the best advice I could offer. If you are not in the line early, you have a slow entry. Well paced entry. Where is the Blue Whale Skeleton? Go searching and check out all the wonderful exhibits as you explore every inch to find the only full Blue Whale Skeleton on display in the world (to the best of my knowledge - I am sure that was one of their promo things! feel free to correct me). Wear comfortable clothes and shoes. No food or drink allowed so leave those water bottles, in the car or at home unfortunately (baby bottles are an exception I think!). There is a little cafe within the complex. I would say. There is parking underneath the State Library and the lifts will take you to the open space outside of both of these as well as the Art Gallery (that is also FREE to enter).

Such a wonderful place to take the kids. I have never been there before, today we visited the Dinosaurs of Patagonia, and the rest of the museum. It is Fantastic. Alot of great things to see and very interactive for the kids. We spent a good few hours here, we probably could have spent longer. I will definitely be coming back. It's free general entry but I have no worries paying an admission fee, for everything you get to see there it is well worth it

Love the new renovations and how they have joined the old to the new. Would love to see a lot more interactive activities for the kids, as it is aimed a lot more towards adults. Would also be better if the displays made you walk one way, so you don’t miss things. Melbourne museum is still my favourite, but WA has some amazing things now to see, but still plenty of room to go from great to excellent. :)

Just amazing. As a museum novice I wasn't expecting to enjoy myself so much. Free entry for the time being...but we made a voluntary donation as we were just blown away with the thought, detail and effort that went into every single exhibit. Great for all ages from master 3 to the grandies.

It is an experience not to miss. The museum is impressive, spacious, comfortable and educational. I would definitely come back again to see the other displays. They have fixed displays and they have a space for temporary display works by various artists. So this keeps the museum interesting and fun.

This museum represents Australia and Western Australia pretty well I think. It captures our multicultural roots and it’s visually stimulating for all ages. The touchscreens/ earphones, interactive displays and hidden drawers gave us an opportunity to discover and learn more. There’s lots of space to sit. There’s a lobby type area outside the exhibition where you can sit and look at the view. Go visit / plan ahead a book a free ticket online. I booked only because I hate lines…. And there was no lines . It was about 1pm on a Sunday.

The updated museum experience is just wonderful. Do plan to spend at least 3 hours if you wish to see all areas though. There is a lot to explore in terms of exhibitions and the use of technology for some interactive experiences is very well integrated. The only suggestion I would make is to place some seats in the area where you listen to people from different eras discuss their experience with going to war.

Highly recommended as one of the must-go places in Perth City! You might need at least 6 hours to cover all exhibits. The museum covers everything from Natural History, People, Astronomy and Culture. Suitable for all ages. Kids will surely love the Natural History section thanks to the dinosaurs and prehistoric animals exhibits. Tickets is free for kids 12 years and below.

It's also great for the price of one ticket you can become a member. Great place for kids and adults. There is something for everyone

Located next to AGWA museum. There are fee, but it's worth it. There are multiple floors. It shows you few things: Wild life, Connections of Australia with the world, and Changes. By the way, it's kids friendly too. Don't forget to pay a visit at their gallery and shop store! Enjoy guys!

Free entrance to a fascinating 21st century museum with connection/remembrance of our exotic past, wild and marine life and many more. Year round tickets can be purchased at $10 each which gives you heavy discounts at special exhibitions (we just attended ancient Greek Heroes and Athletes Show). L1 has the massive Bluewhale skeleton, L3 has Dino skeletons. There is a mobile cafe outside, more restaurants on the streets of Northbridge which is around 3 minutes walk. Highly recommended.

Took advantage of free entry areas. It was an extra $20 to see the dinosaurs. A huge area to explore with many interactive exhibitions. The toilets were very clean and there were great breastfeeding chairs overlooking the city, as well as well sized parent/change rooms. Very easy to take the pram with lift options and lots of space

I love museums a lot and I went in to just browse and explore on my own. But at the last minute, I decided to get tickets to the free aboriginal tour. Let me just say, it was one of the best decisions I have ever made. This was such an incredible experience! Shout out to my awesome tour guide Trish. Her knowledge and love for her culture is so inspiring! I could listen to her talk on and on. What a legend! I learnt a lot about aboriginal culture, customs and more. The museum itself was really nice. Loved the origins gallery as well as some of the other exhibits. 10/10 experience <3

The WA Museum is an absolute treat! So much to see no matter what age you are. I took my two grandsons to the Wild Life exhibition on the top floor. They're only 1 and 3 years old but both boys absolutely loved it. Their little faces were full of awe and wonder. We will definitely take them again.

First time visiting since the new look, newly branded museum opened and I have to admit I liked it. Was there about an hour and a half, needed a lot more time though. The new looks seems a lot more spacious then the original. Although the new architecture wasn't really agreeable with many once I saw it from inside I do like how it kind of highlights the older areas. I also like the fact that the old Library interior architecture has been preserved. I will be making regular visits to explore here, such an asset to the Perth Cultural Centre.

Stunning! The architecture of the building is impressive. The exhibitions of each part of the museum is well presented. We spent 5 hours in the museum and easily more if without young children, as we just want to read all the stories on each section. Very educational about the history of the nation, some extinct species, formation of rocks, global warming and many more.

Egypt expo was just great 😊. Kids loved it and adults too!! The rest of the museum itself was pretty entertaining both kids and adults: Rio Tinto " immersive" experience was very good, and Epoch Cafe had a decent selection to choose from although not the cheap. The museum itself had a lot going on around due to school holidays I guess but heard there was always something special on. So I will definitely be keeping an eye on what's going on there. For me and my little nephews alike. Good place to be to for an afternoon.

Wonderful Museum, monumental and inclusive. Thoroughly enjoyed the 'Discovering Ancient Egypt' Exhibition. Loved the way they incorporated the old architecture with the new. Well worth a visit and something for all ages to enjoy. Join up for the price of admission to enjoy it for a year.

This is an outstanding re-imagining/remodelling of the WA Museum. Absolutely beautiful exhibits that get rid of the creepy stale past and create a strong sense of narrative. I love how the old and new integrate within the architecture. And the staff were/are outstanding. Even a cleaner was able to assist us to find that great blue whale. My boys loved the dinosaurs... and the escalators 😂. They did find the low light unsettling at first but soon adjusted with the many interactive opportunities.

Loved it haven't been in over 7 years and it's even better then before. I'm having trouble walking long distances at the moment so to be able to borrow one of there wheelchairs made the whole experience with my husband and 3 young daughters stress free. All exhibits were really clean and well presented. We can't wait to come back.

Since I was in primary school, I've always loved coming here. But I've always loved museums. But I still would recommend checking out the WA Museum even if you don't think you're into museums, as for the most part, it is a good representation of what the state is about. Compared to what I remembered the museum was, the building is now gargantuan. You can make the day of it just to wander around the galleries. The highlights for me are the floating whalebone that gives the museum its surreal look, the origins exhibition and the general view of the city from the museum rooftops. Oh yeah, it is still free entry to the museum, but apparently they'll charge some from October 2022, so better get on the free train before the conductor starts asking for tickets.

A modern and world class museum showcasing Western Australia that's a must visit. Starting by climbing to the top of the three storey museum you work your way through each floor of the history, nature and culture of Perth and Western Australia that can keep you entertained for hours. There's multi-storey parking nearby including CPP Cultural Centre that's currently free for a few hours on the weekends and public holidays. Entrance to the museum is also currently free but you still need to obtain a ticket from the front desk, or book it online for busier days.

The newly opened museum was much better than I expected. It's a beautifully modern building that has been designed perfectly for it's use. The exhibits were setup beautifully. A lot of Aboriginal elements amongst the displays with lots of interactive pieces for kids to enjoy. A nice cafe is attached. Easy to get to in the heart of Perth City. Highly recommended for a visit.

This is a fantastic museum with lots of things to see and learn. They really showcase the local traditional culture and pay respect to the landowners. Take your time and start from the top floor and make your way down. There are a lot of different preserved and live specimens on the top floor which consists mostly of wildlife. There are lots of interactive panels and projections that helps you understand the topic. Definitely worth a visit.

It's a fantastic museum! Great exhibitions, especially about nature and people (in Connections). There is also a wonderful "welcome to country" and plenty of information about the life of the native populations in Western Australia: their struggles and their achievements. Very instructive!

I've been to the Museum many times and always find something new each time. Easy to get to via car or train. Clean, spacious and informative. We recently went to the Ancient Egypt exhibit which was absolutely fantastic. Absolutely recommend. A large giftshop, which, of course, attracts kid's eyes immediately.

Conveniently located in the heart of central Perth. For a standard entry fee of $15, get to explore different exhibition halls including the WA history, wildlife and geological and cultural connections to rest of the world. Will probably require 3-4 hrs to fully explore every parts of exhibition. Went on a wkday early afternoon, not much crowd.

Love this museum. It has been a long time coming. The culture of our country has been captured and presented in the most amazing way. This is true history of our country from the beautiful story to the tragedy and pain. There is something for everyone. Children will the under water world and other crazy outer space stuff. There is plenty to see and learn so a great day spent.

The 3 journeys exhibition, Aboriginal storytelling through film, music and art, was well worth the small entry fee to the museum. This was my second visit to the museum and this experience was my favourite by far. I particularly enjoyed the old car film projection, innovative and impactful, and learnt some fascinating history about the ingenious car bush mechanics. I have also committed to watching clever man sometime soon.

Such a lot to read and see, an annual membership is highly recommended so you can take your time to browse without rushing. Easy accessibility as well because it is so near to the Perth Underground Station. If you don't have a membership, i recommend buying tickets online to avoid a queue of up to 20 min. Not fun if you have young children with you.

I am not much into museums but I took my kids here and they loved it. It is a massive building with a lot of knowledge and learning on display. A few huge dianosaurs were present which got the kids excited. There was a queue for those who wanted to purchase tickets, the ones who purchased online could simply walk in.

One of the better museums visited. Adults pay $10 per entry, and there are a ton of things to learn here! There are sensory exhibits, well curated exhibits and in-depth research supplemented with engaging visuals. At this rate, it seems like every other Aussie kid is going to grow up to become a world 🌎 famous geologist, naturalist or historian. It does make you envious of the availability of interactive knowledge which Aussie kids have access to. Spent 2 hours here but it could have easily been 4 hours as we were pressed for time.

Visiting this museum again after so many, many years blew me away. A completely different place to what it was before and it looks fantastic inside and outside. Lots of exhibits and really family/kid friendly. Love that it has such an large focus on the indigenous culture. Gave me the opportunity to understand the indigenous people and their way of life. It is so clean that you won't find a spec of dust....spotless. Also such a great location being in the heart of Perth CBD, close to cafes and built of sacred land.
