Enjoyed all the food. Straight forward good dish overall. With the price and whats been presented I'm fully satisfied and understand the hype around the booking etc. Worth to try if you haven't. Will definitely come back for more if i get lucky with the booking. Managed to visit 2nd time for the winter menu, overall again its a wonderful 7 course dinner with quality ingredients. The sushi basically the same as last time. The rest are new and i like it even better this time! Kudos to the chef. Service can be improved but just happy that i could come because its hard to book!

This is a very popular restaurant with limited seating, making it extremely difficult to secure a reservation in Perth. *Appetizer - Squid salad (I think it’s pre-made) *Smoked ocean trout - Average, although the server warned us about it being hot, it turned out to be lukewarm. It seemed not freshly fried, but still had a satisfying crunch. *Duck breast soba - The duck breast wasn't the most delicious I've had; the texture was too soft. *Glacier 51 tooth fish - The fish had a crispy exterior and tender on the inside, accompanied by burdock shreds, which tasted great. *Chef's selection sashimi - The slices of sashimi were too small and cut too thinly. I only had three small pieces, making it difficult to judge their freshness. *Tasmania salmon belly sushi - The salmon on top was too thin, making it difficult to appreciate the texture, but the fried prawn inside the sushi stole the show. *Harvey beef cheek - I must say I've never had meat this delicious before. it was incredibly tender! I didn't have high expectations initially, but this dish turned out to be the best one I had. *Green tea sweet potato & miso - This dessert had a unique flavor. After the rich meat dishes, it was a perfect combination. The 7-course Omakase is $95ppl and the restaurant only has 24 seats, requiring reservations for dining. I highly recommend giving it a try and dining there.

This is the best Japanese fine dining restaurant in Perth! The menu changes every season and this place gets booked out within days. Bookings reopen every 3 months so get in early! My favourite dish was definitely the rump steak. Completely melts in my mouth and so easy to chew.

A dining experience worth waiting for. After waiting almost 3 years to successfully book a spot for dinner, my wife & I can vouch for the wonderful degustation experience that Chef Moe and his team do at Marumo. From the moment we stepped in, to the time we exit 3 hrs later, we were made to feel welcome. The service was not rushed so allocate at least 2.5-3hrs for the dining. The menu is seasonal and Chef Moe’s winter menu was a winner for us at $80 pp. The restaurant is very intimate and only offer around 20 pp capacity & they were very accommodating to our request to bring our newborn along in a pram so that we can breastfeed our baby between course. The restaurant is BYO, and you will definitely enjoy the 3 hrs dining experience as time does fly when you are with the one you love. All the courses were tastefully curated and delicious, and the only complaint my wife had was that she would have loved more serving of their sashimi and seared Wagyu beef. :) We will be counting down to the next booking opening for their Spring menu. Tips 1: booking is very difficult as the other reviews have already indicated. You just have to keep trying and refreshing your browser when the booking opens on the dot. Tips 2: as it’s only a single seating of up to 3 hrs a night, try to book the earliest 7pm before the other diners arrived at their later booking times if you like to enjoy a bit of quiet time initially.

Sensational! Perfect 5 Star! Very dedicated and talented chef presenting extremely top class omakase. Well done! Beg, kneel, bribe, offer to pay double, is worth it!

Service was impeccable. I'm afraid I don't know enough words to describe the food adequately. Best to try them yourself. It's 3 hours for each seating.. so make sure you choose good company before booking your spot.

Enjoyed an amazing dinner where with 3 friends. I have been trying to get seats in here for ages and my good friend finally managed to get one. Fremantle Octopus and Cucumber. The Octopus was tender and very delicious. Toothfish & Zucchini. My friend loves Patagonian Toothfish, I found it creamy and tender with a sweet flavour. Very nice! The dish needs some thought as eating it with chopsticks was quite difficult, maybe some smaller portions? Smoked Duck and Melon Delicious and it all vanished so fast. Sashimi, OMG we were warned about the freshly ground wasabi but it still just blew me away. They all were fresh and enjoyable. Tasmanian Salmon Belly Sushi. Four pieces? Jusg wasn’t enough. Ha ha Margaret River Yearling Beef, tender cut of beef performed. It was tender and tasted great. Dessert was “Green Tea, Blueberry and Citrus” Green Tea parfait with a blueberry sauce. Yum.

Had a very enjoyable dinner there, a good degustation menu with a good selection of seafood and meat, very fresh sashimi, and very tender beef and duck, love the mushroom sauce with the duck, definitely great quality food and delicious 😋. However, check the booking and cancellation policy and make sure you confirm and confirm your booking if you get one, not easy to get a booking.

Hands down, the most enjoyable dinner I've ever had (don't tell my girlfriend). Prior to tonight my expectations were already incredibly high. Friends had said it was incredible, they weren't wrong. The food was unbelievably good and the service was even better! My girlfriend is pregnant and they were more than happy to cater for her dietary requirements. They were also Covid19 responsible, even at the end of September 2020; groups were appropriately distanced. I've never eaten such succulent beef. I never knew how good sashimi could be until tonight. I never would have eaten roe before tonight but I'm so glad I did; it was delicious. Every course was a satisfying adventure into Japanese food. Now I know why it is so difficult to get a reservation at Marumo. It is an experience like no other. I cannot wait to go back!

I’d heard of Marumo for as long as I can remember. And it’s been booked out for just as long. We managed to get a table for two on their last release of bookings and boy was the wait worth it. 7 courses plus a couple of surprises for $65? And bring your own wine? How they manage it I don’t know. I’d dined at a bunch of Michelin starred places and if Michelin bothered with Australia this place would have at least a star. Coming back every time I can.

Absolutely amazing meal! There was nothing to fault my 7 course experience and each dish was served to perfection. Clearly a lot of detail went into preparing each plate and it was simply delicious and beautifully presented.

We attended Marumo after wanting to go for such a long time, we took our daughter for her 20th birthday. Entered the restaurant and noticed it was a neat and tidy, but cosy space. We had the summer menu. Items included are on the menu picture attached. It's not often you get caught up in food, emotions come out with each bite, but this is one place where this happens with each dish. The subtle flavours mixed with fresh and bold ingredients like Truffle, fresh seafood and meat and amazing broths and textures shows why its so hard to get into this place. One of the most enjoyable food experiences I have had and hope to get back again sooner than later. B.Y.O drinks to add 8 Courses.

Simply Amazing! From specially selected ingredients to portions and flavors, the chef mastered all the combine elements to make it a truly magical dining experience for us. Definitely be back for next season’s menu. The wait staff was very attentive and described every dish to us in perfection! 6-Star!

I feel as though I am doing myself a disservice by giving Marumo an honest review considering how hard it is to get a booking. It is, hands down, the best restaurant I have been to in Perth. The food was completely flawless. There was not a single element in a single dish that was anything other than amazing. Nothing short of perfection.

So enjoyable when you get lucky with a booking. The duck and beef dishes were delicious and sushi/sashimi were fresh, warm and tasty as always. The dessert was delicate and delectable with just the natural ingredient and flavour shining through.

An intimate and exclusive restaurant where you have to beat other Marumo addicts to secure an online reservation - this place books out in seconds! The menu changes seasonally and I’ve never had the same dish twice. A journey through the finest delicacies is brought to you in 7 courses including a little palate cleanser before main course using the freshest and finest ingredients. Don’t let the sizes fool you, you definitely leave full. A word of advice, check their website for reservation openings and put it in your diary!

  • 5/5 Nick P. 2 years ago on Google
Beautifully presented and amazing tastes, we really had a lovely evening. Our only small niggle was about the two waitstaff on that night. No finesse and little sensitivity. Food was plonked down hurriedly and slid across the table top (although the dish composition was explained), and water refilled with too much speed, shoved past my shoulder. The waitstaff need to approach the tables and guests with more respect and slow down, which will better match the ambience and the exquisite Japanese degustation experience. Call me old-fashioned, but this was my only disappointment. This won’t put us off returning however and it’s still worth 5 stars. Thank you marie and chef moe.

Marumo is a very special place run by a very friendly young husband and wife team and their great staff. A little 20-30 seat restaurant that does a seasonal Japanese 7 course Omakase (think Japanese degustation) menu. And it doesn’t everything perfectly. I have been lucky to go twice and each time every single dish is refined, clean and absolutely beautiful. I can’t recommend Marumo enough! You need to book months in advance so check out their website for next booking window

I went here for my anniversary and I must say, this is hands down one of the best dining experiences I've ever had. The small and intimate dining area makes the service feel all the more personalised. The seasonal, controlled menu allows the chef to maximise each plate, where each dish flows beautifully into the next; the culmination of which is the sushi. The sushi provided an almost out of body experience and must be tasted by everyone at least once. Personally, at $75 per person for a 7 course meal plus palette cleaners is a steal and they should be charging more. I will absolutely be coming back and cannot wait to see what the next seasons menu will bring.

I am not a person who would write reviews, yet I am here after just coming back from Marumo and it’s worth waiting for. I am definitely going back again, if I am able to find the booking. Chef Moe and staff were dedicated to their service. And food was exceptional, chefs kiss! 🤌🏼

Such a fantastic creation and the taste was absolutely divine! One seating restaurant where you simply have the whole evening to taste the dishes one after another with your own favorite wine, sake or beverage. Booking is required at the start of each season which can be a bit of a lucky dip.

  • 4/5 Denise 4 years ago on Google
Pretty good value at $70 for 7 courses plus 2 appetizers. Setting is modern casual and you BYO. Overall experience is pleasant but not so amazing that it's worth all the fuss and hype involved in booking a perth restaurant. You would be thinking your booking for worlds top 3 Michelin star with the booking process. But really it's quite comparable to many other nice degustation offerings at other places which might charge more but much easier to book.

  • 5/5 Jonathan W. 4 years ago on Google
This place takes fine food to the next level. The ingredients were fresh; the combination of flavours, texture, umami were amazing. Each dish built upon the crescendo of the previous. Five out of five stars will recommend. Definitely returning. Side note: bookings for this place sell out in under a minute - it feels like someone has written a program/bot to auto book...

Now it is very hard to book due to the popularity and the limited seating, it is one of very mysterious legendary places to dine in Perth. Marumo’s dish was very unique Japanese infused with Western breeze. (As a Japanese I would say it’s Japanese inspired food) 7 course meal was a great deal with only 75 box / pp, with a bit of corkage fee to enjoy your favorite wine. The service is always great too.

Since the menu keeps changing depending on the season. You wouldn't have the same experience in terms of taste on some dishes. Pro: 1. Overall good food 2. Quite filling at the end 3. Like the dish at the end which is a sous vid beef with cream potato and dessert that had hojicha flavour. Cons: 1. Didn't like baramundi fish that is just normal. 2. They charge $3.50 for BYO but I'm just being picky

Foods were really good and service was great. I couldn't give it 5 stars as place very small with limited number of seats. Given very little servings they did, the perfection was expected. It would be unfair if I compared with larger place where the chef and staff had to take care many tables with large menu.
